I found this google nest hub gen1 garage sale stuck in retail mode. Is there any way of making it work? It's just 39.99 online, but it would be a waste of electronic components to trash it.

I've got a workmate who has a pretty flash car with a "Pioneer Avic" car stereo head unit in it, now apparently these things are the bees knees when it comes to car stereos, and from what he tells me especially because he bought the thing when it first appeared on the market he paid a hefty price as well. for no one that knows its a dble Din touchscreen unit that has built in hard disk, GPS, plays movies can play tv, if you buy extra attachment, can talk to the car via the "cambus" system...?, and most of the other regular features that can found on things similar to this, He told me he paid 4K AUD for the thing when it first came out, so I would tell him why wouldn't you just build your own car PC for a fraction of the price which does more...!!, he complains to me about the 40 GB hard disk that comes with it, I think this is only for GPS maps and when a CD is inserted it automatically Rips to hard disk, he's looked into getting another harddisk as its just your standard laptop size, but apparently (I assume "Pioneer"), have made this vitually impossible, so if there's no way around that, he asks me is it possable to I assume that there would be a process of flashing a rom of some sort, with say....some version of windows, or maybe linux..... Thanks in advance !!, Nick....
I have 1 chromecast and I use localcast app on a note1 to do as much as it lets with all the extra taps needed.I just happend to be in aUK maplins store and saw something called a prestigio pmd 1 dongle mirroring dongle. My plan is to put a chromecast on every tv but it wont mirror yet. Iam not technically gifted to tell you what the pmd 1 one exactly is but for £29. It plugged in to hdmi micro usb'd to a note 1 plug for power (usb tv port on another tv.) I pressed sreen mirroring on my tab 3.8 and it quick connected the whole of my phone , camera an all.Anything on your pgone is mirrored to the tv, operating system, apps, showbox and all. Im hoping google I/o gives us mirror today but if it doesnt I dont care now id just buy another of these. I dont think thease have any operating system in them (pmd 1) just bit of ram and memory to cast but it works.:victory:

Google announced Mirroring for CCast today....
And since we know it works if you can get by the Whitelisting I'm betting it won't be long before they whitelist it for everyone.
I am going camping and want to have a way to watch movies and not on the "small" screen. I can't find info about MHL for the Note 5. All I saw was screen mirroring and my tv in the camper doesn't have that. I do have a Sony Bluetooth stereo but I don't think video will work over it. So how do I get video out?
I am using Amazon Prime video on Android with the download feature so I can take movies with me. It's supposed to rain tonight and would prefer to watch tv not the rain.
Download them to a USB dongle and then use the dongle to copy the movie onto a laptop.
I don't think Amazon Prime video allows you to select a download location. The download also seems to only be good for 48 hours then it gets deleted. Mine disappeared in under 24 hours so not sure what happened. We ended up having to run back to the house so we installed amazon video on her ipad and watched a few movies that way. It rained most of the camping trip so we spent most of the time inside.
I am thinkin gthat next year I might just buy a cheap router and a chromecast or two and put them in the camper to stay. Should be cheaper than replacing the brand new tvs that came with it.
If you are rooted you can try adding ro.hdmi.enable=true to your build.prop depending on what Samsung changed or left out of the Note 5 it may or may not work. As you should know messing with your build.prop could result in a phone that will not boot without side loading your backup or flashing your firmware again.
Apologies if this this question is off topic but I arrived here from a XDA review about Google TV on "smart TV".
So in one week I receive my TCL series 7 (Google OS) smart TV and a TV technician will attend because we have a satellite dish setup that will need to adapt to the new system.
Since for now the TV will not have an internet connection, I'm asking if there is an option to download the updated Google OS firmware (or Android) and sideload it to the TV via USB or other options?
Hi,
Do you guys have any ideas why my google homes take 10 sec to give a response? - Both for google only requests and cloud requests.
My setup:
3 Google Home (Also combined into one group).
iobroker Smart Home with:
1 Chromecast Adapter
4 Sayit adapters
1 Cloud Adapter with IFTTT
Fritz.Box 7590
What tested:
Debug options are not available according to Google.
I also reset one completely as an example.
I have deleted the group.
I have disabled the Chromecast, Cloud, Sayit adapter from iobroker
Put all devices on the 2.4ghz network uniformly
put an alternative DNS in the router
reduced amount of connected devices in Fritz.Box
pulled out all but the Google Home with the best reception.
I have the feeling that the devices are in standby. Because a 2nd query then goes quickly. But how do you get out of there?
Took one out and exchanged it with Nest Mini V2. Worked 1 week well and fast but then it slowed down as all the others.
Greetings
maxpd
Same problem here... My Google Homes are slow to do an action like switch on a light...
I read about more and more people. Perhaps you can tell more about your setup?
