Does anyone here know how to remove the scratch on the Gorilla Glass Victus screen? the screen on my Samsung S21 Ultra was hit by a key so it caused a scratch that was a bit difficult to remove. Here I will send the picture.

Probably not a key but spring steel ie key ring is hard enough to.
How deep it is determines if you can polish it how and how you do so.
If it's too deep polishing it will distort the glass.
You're dry palm and underside finger tip are abrasive to glass and can be used to polish out small scratches. It takes at least 30 minutes of rapid back and forth movement in the direction of the scratch with a finger tip.
I can't tell how deep that scratch is. If more than a micro scratch this technique won't work.
A Cerium Oxide based glass polish can cut it but you don't want to learn on this piece of glass.
The glass may also (I think it is) be chemically treated and removing that treated layer will degrade it. Any scratch in glass creates a stress point and weakens it.
Ignore it.
Get it replaced.
Try to finger polish it out if only a micro scratch.
A inexpensive screen protector like Gorilla IQ Sheild would have prevented this... if it happened once it will likely happen again.

No, scratch was on the Gorilla Glass screen. I applied a screen protector after it was hit to prevent it from getting hit again.

In that case, a very good option IMO would be to apply (over the Victus glass) a glass protector that uses transparent UV Glue for bonding.
The liquid UV glue will "fill" the gap without any buffing required. Bonus, the fingerprint sensor is OK, although it works around 50% less (and you have to registrer your fingerprints again after putting on the screen protector)
A kit is around 40$ now, with a USB UV light, a liquid glue, and a wraparound glass protector.
Mine was the SPIGEN Platinum 2.0.
It IS however, rather hard to apply correctly... takes 30 minutes minimum.

I second that
If you try to remove the scratch with any kind of abrasive you'll end up removing the coating of the glass, so a uv glue to work as a filler and hide the scratch would be your best bet.

It might work like a glaze/filler on car paint, never done it on my mob, but principal is the same.

Car finish isn't being looked through like glass (clear coat not withstanding).
A protective cover is the best you can do; the refractive index is the same across the whole surface. The scratch will still be visible either way.
If it really annoyed me I take a shot at polishing it out; by hook or crook.

Agreed, but imagine this scratch being a chip on the windshield and the uv glue used with a uv tempered glass protector being a resin that is used to repair stone chips on glass. Again the principal is similar, of course the scratch will not vanish but it may be less visible when you apply the glue and the glass tempered glass on top. Fgos, I am talking about tempered glass together with uv glue, not just glue to fill the scratch.

Maybe that's what should be used; it's refractive index is very close to glass.
There's no easy fix that I'm aware of.
If shallow enough, a micro scratch it can literally be polished out with your hand.
I use a Gorilla IQ Sheild on my N10+ and keep nothing else in that pocket... this is why.

Like everything repair-wise:
Always try the ADDITIVE method first (that can be reversed), before falling back to the SUBSTRACTIVE method.
You can remove the glue, you can't unpolish your screen.

A fail is a fail. The more you screw around with it the more likely you'll cause additional damage.
You need to gauge it's depth; short of polishing it out, epoxy is the only material that has chance of enduring.
Easiest route, replace it or wait for it to break... if it does.
So in essence you are fooked, accept you screens damage and move on
Try to use UV glue tempered glass.
Mine was scratched like yours, and it vanished behind the tempered glass..
The downside is, your fingerprint scanner wont ever be the same again, eventhough the extra sensitivuty-thing has been turned on.
I've tried to re-register my fingerprint, but it still not as sensitive as before..

An additional recommendation is to at least initially buy tempered glass and UV glue from aliexpress for just a few bucks. You can buy 2 or 3 different ones from different sellers and hope to receive at least 1 higher quality protector. However I am recommending this as it is best to learn to apply the UV protection on the cheap. Instead of spending 40 bucks and making a ruining mistake.
And you also might have to re-register your finger prints like 3 or 4 times so it would be able to read them fast.

I've had different luck with different UV glue. I've had some that wouldn't stick at all, and one that was essentially super glue. Luckily, that was a work device.

Indeed, hence why it is best to get from a few different sellers. I did once have the superglue effect on an S7 edge some years ago. It was a massive torture to remove after the tempered glass shattered. But since then this has not happened again and I have had over 10 UV applications on different devices. It is best to buy from sellers that have sold thousands of glasses and have at least hundreds of reviews. This would confirm that the certain item sold has existed for a while and it is confirmed to function normally.

I use a tempered oleophobic glass screen protector on my Galaxy Note 2. Just yesterday, it saved my phone from a 1 m drop onto a tile floor. There is now a hairline crack in the protector, but that's much better than having a hairline crack in the Note 2's screen itself. It would've been the screen if it weren't for the protector!
If I had used a plastic film protector, it would have bee a different story. Those flimsy films only protect from scratches, which this tempered glass protector does a much better job at anyway.
These protectors only cost around $10 on eBay, so it's a worthy investment to prevent spending $300 to replace the whole screen assembly.

+100 for Tempered Glass!!! Have my VITREO on and wouldn't leave a home without. We all focus on getting good cases to protect our phone, and some end up adding $0.99 thin film screen protector from ebay. Even good stuff from Spigen with 3H hardness will only protect from scratches. Impact protection is only reliable with a tempered glass. Furthermore, tempered glass usually is super clear, no light effects, not interference with s-pen, and it feels super smooth like a real glass.
@vantt1, how is it sticking to the edges? One of the biggest problems with Note 2 is display curve toward edges. Spigen didn't even bother making their signature Glass.t stuff for Note 2. MIME got it right only from a 2nd try. Other brands had issues with glass not sticking to the edges. Sedio VITREO shrunk the glass to cover only visible part of the display and not even going all the way around home button, all that to avoid with curved part of the Note 2 screen edge. So curious with the one you got if it's sticking to the edges or not? Or perhaps it's a bit thinner and thus more flexible in comparison to VITREO, so edges do stick better?

Installation is relatively straightforward. Just make sure the screen you're applying it on is super clean and dust free, then peel the plastic film covering the silicone-based adhesive off and align the protector according to the location of the home button and the front camera. Don't worry if there's one or two specks of dust in between the protector, because it is near impossible to remove the dust again. Pushing it will make the silicone fill up pretty much all the remnant air bubbles caused by the dust, and will look nearly invisible anyway.
As to the S-Pen, it doesn't affect it at all. Hover and tapping works just fine, and because it is glass it doesn't scratch like the old matte ones I used to use.

This 2.5D is by no means flexible, but the protector is smaller than the Note 2's screen by about 1-2 mm around the edges. It sticks reasonably well to the curved edges, but it is visibly not making complete contact. The protector clings perfectly where the actual AMOLED panel is though, and that's good enough for me. Furthermore, as you said, the glass does make seamless contact with the display, so there is no air gap at all and no extra reflections.
It's very smooth and hydro/oleophobic too!
Now this is the kinda thread I like seeing... Much better than one I've seen called " Don't use a screen protector!" which I hope dies in the depths of this forum
My tempered protector is the best 6 bucks I've ever spent on phone accessories and it's the first accessory I'll buy for all my future phones. I stop worryimg about what else is in my pocket. And because it's glass it's easy to forget that you're even using a screen protector unlike with the flimsy plastic films.

Just ditched my several week old zaggs invisishield, which proved to be a sticky, bubbly pos which ripped after just a few weeks of sitting in the pocket of my khakis (with nothing else in the pocket).
Received and installed a Seidio Vitreo which I learned about in vectron's thread. The Vitreo is outstanding but I wonder what makes it so much more expensive ($30+)...hardness maybe?

The only difference with Seidio is that it's not as wide and therefore it doesn't go as far to the edges. As you might have read in Vectron's review, if the screen protector goes too far to the edges the curved edges of the Note 2's screen will cause the protector to not stick as well.
The reason it's so much more expensive is because of the word Seidio printed on it's packaging and I guess a bit also for the fact that they solved a problem that no other protector solved at the time they released their product.
In my opinion Seidio products in general are overpriced, but hey we all live on different budgets

Yours looks better on the top edge... the Seidio has an asymmetric cut around the earpiece. I'll keep that one in mind for my next phone or if the Vitreo breaks.

Although the curved edge problem exists on my protector, I haven't noticed any reduction in contact within the last 6 moths that I have been using it. Sure, a little bit of dust does get caught under it, but it doesn't seem to affect the protectors amount of contact at all.

My protector also has that extra bit of glass underneath the home button, which in my opinion goes well with my home button sticker.

Damn, should've checked here before I got one on Amazon for twice the price. By the way if anyone's looking for some reliable instructions on applying them here's a nice guide I wrote as a review earlier:
1. I don't know about you but I'm a bit anal with my phone so that whole just "line it up as best as you can and drop it" stuff isn't good enough for me. I'm going to introduce to you the hinge method which will allow you perfect alignment. Lay your screen protector over your screen exactly where you want it to be placed. Don't remove any of the plastic coating just yet, you just want to line it up. Then, tape the bottom part of the screen protector down with two pieces of tape effectively making a hinge. When you go to apply it you will simply remove the backing and the screen will lay down perfectly where it needs to be but we'll get to that in a bit there is still a little more prep required.
2. You are going to need to clean your screen so you don't have any particles under it to cause bubbles this is probably obvious but I would be remiss not to include it. This kit includes a microfiber which for most installations should be just fine however if you feel you need a little extra cleaning help you can also try a little bit of isopropyl alcohol.
2. Your enemy is dust so you want an environment that is less conducive to that. Let the shower run for a while until the steam builds up to ground the dust. Humid=Less dusty. If you haven't guessed by now you will be applying the screen protector in your bathroom.Set up a little station so you can have the phone/screen protector as close to eye level and and as visible as possible to spot any dust particles.
3. The moment of truth! Take another quick swipe with your microfiber cloth and check for any dust particles. You can now peel off the backing. There should be no guesswork here due to your hinge method so this part should be a piece of cake. Slowly lower it starting with the side closest to the screen and it should hinge close. Run your finger down the middle of the screen. You should see it adhere to the rest of the screen on it's own for the most part. Remove the front protective layer. Wrap the little card (or a credit card) with the microfiber and push out any remaining bubbles. You're done! If you did everything correctly not only will your screen protector be perfectly aligned but you will have no bubbles.

How did these tempered screen protectors work out on the LG G Watch R? Do they affect the feel, look and responsiveness of the screen?, Do they offer better protection than standard screen protectors? Would you recommend them?

Mine just arrived today. Already installed and stuff:
So far it came with a cool looking tin can with a plastic window on top (covered with a sticker), alcohol wipe, microfiber cloth, stickers to get rid of the dust and to guide the protector on, and, surprisingly, a cheap stylus and a few useless stuff for free.
The cut is extremely exact to a point where I have no idea how I would remove it. So my recommendation is the make sure you properly clean the surface and use the stickers to get rid of any dust cause once it's on it'll be extremely difficult to remove.
Once it's on, it adhere to the screen leaving no bubbles. The feel is nice about as smooth as a typical tempered glass screen protectors for phones. The sensitivity isn't affected, as sensitive as the actual screen.
One thing I like about it is that it gives the screen a little height so it makes the screen a bit more flush with the bezels. It definitely looks as if there is no protector on the screen.
I attached some pictures of what came in the package and how it looks on the watch. Don't mind the Skinomi body skin around the watch.

There isn't that much glare. As long as your brightness is at 3 or higher you can easily see the screen, to me anyways.
It might not be as good as a naked screen but it's the same as if you had a plastic screen protector. In ambient mode you might have to look a little bit harder to see the time in sunlight, but overall glare is minimal but it depends on the person's point of view of course.

I'm wondering, is it possible to remove the screen protector once put on the watch? I mean, if I want, or need to remove it later on (if scratched or broken), how would I manage to do that? (because it seems to adjust si perfectly, I don't really see how I could pry and detach the screen protector without damaging the bezel or the real screen itself....
That's what worries me more.

Honestly I do not know how I'm going to remove it. As of right now, I think the only way I can remove the screen protector is by using the included sticker that was used to guide the screen into place and a pin needle. I think I can stick the needle in one of the small opening and use it as leverage to lift the protector while using the sticker to help lift it off the watch's screen. This is the only way I can see myself removing the protector from the watch.

Yea, it seems trying to use the pin you'd risk scratching the screen underneath. But I "think" you're only supposed to ever need one. Unless you have something catastrophic happens, that scratches it. In which case, you'll be very glad you installed it. Since they are not easily scratched.
With the skin I have, there's no real "glare" in sunlight, but I'm concerned these glass covers cause extra glare.

Honestly I dont notice any increase in glare, the OLED is pretty bright even in the lowest settings so you'll still be able to see the screen. As for the protection, the only way i see the screen really getting damaged is if you something pointed hit the glass directly. Cause of the raised bezel it'll be hard to scratch the screen

Unfortunately there is a small gap where particles of dust can get in, but you can get rid of the dust with compress air. When I try to blow the dust away with my mouth I can get rid of the small strands of lint. I really don't notice the dust that much during normal wear unless I really focus on it. I am a little ocd about dust and stuff on my screen but I can live with the dust on the edge as long as there's none underneath in direct view of the face.
We need to get this useful and honest information out there.

Use a cheap curved tempered glass for Note 8 and simply apply with Loca glue.
The exact Loca glue is listed in the video (tp-2500f).
And you can cure the glue just with natural UV light the Sun.
People should know and don't get ripped off just for Adhesive Glue

It was mentioned in the youtube video description, he took out the tempered glass that he used loca glue tp-2500f 10 days ago.
You can refer at 1:00 time point. I don’t see any damage there at 1:20 time point

As a starting point, try to get hold of the loca glue tp-2500f and patch test on a glass surface. They are fairly cheap.
You can decide from there whether you are comfortable with this loca glue.
found some good glue on amazon, also a good UV light.
but for now i don't know which glass i should use.
im looking for one without dot matrix if possible and also one with installation tray would be nice.

I've read reviews on the process saying 2500 is pretty thick compared to the LOCA Whitestone supplies, and the reviewer stated they had to press down on the TGSP to get the adhesive to fully spread across the entire screen.
I bought the XFactor Sticky-Icky tp-1000f LOCA, and now waiting on the UV lamp to arrive to peel the NeoFlex off my N8. Could go with the sun curing like in that video, but don't wanna be that long with my phone during daytime hours

I have done 3 installation and two failed installation. The failed installation was my first WhiteStone attempt and the other was due to 2500 loca glue being too thick. The best installation I have done were the Octopus LOCA glue in Amazon. Whitestones viscocity is very watery and having a level surface is extremely important.

I'd considered the Octopus LOCA. Also read that the LOCA Whitestone uses is likely thinner thank the 1K I ordered. Hopefully the XFactor works out for me. If not, still have one NeoFlex left to hold me over till a different adhesive gets shipped to me

Interesting. I need to purchase more LOCA glue at this moment as I have 5 installations to do but don't know if I should go with my tried and trued 1400 Octopus or Xfactors. One thing I did enjoy about WhiteStones was that I felt it was clearer, but I believe thats the glass they are using and not the glue. I also see that Xfactors is much much cheaper for 30mL but dislike that it doesn't have a mL measure in the syringe. Keep me updated please!

I just had this Base TGSP come in today. I held it up to a White LED lamp, and couldn't see any dot matrix. Of course, that may mean nothing. Will advise after install.

As of right now I have three different tempered glass coming to me. I'll update everyone on which is the best. I've installed the amfilm(http://a.co/b54BrHg) in one and I personally did not like it. So I have Olixar(https://goo.gl/qtcGRx), Supcase( http://a.co/6c9DctI) and a OmyFilm(http://a.co/dJbQllZ) tempered glass on order.

First is extremely difficult to get the speaker grill covered with tape. I had to put tape in the front speaker, cure the glue then hassle with tape to release since the tempered glass covers the speaker grill. Wasn't easy. Secondly my brother uses cases which are bulkier like the pictured Supcase.These type of cases tend not to hug the corners. If you look at my S8+, I like cases which hug the corner for better protection. Lastly I do not want anything such as LOCA glue nor tempered glass covering any of my sensors/camera.
How hard is it to remove the glass and loco glue? Just in case you need to replace the glass screen protector.
So far I needed to remove WhiteStone after it cracked. That was pretty easy, but as we've been discussing they probably use a lower viscosity than 1000mpa.s. The Octopus is 1400mpa.s and Xfactors is 1000mpa.s Worst case scenario you need to put a heat gun to the screen for 30 seconds to remove, but I highly doubt that's needed as the WhiteStone removal was easy.
Here is another to avoid. Installed perfectly but now clicks at the lower right and again, loss of sensitivity. I swear I'm going naked until the Whitestone arrives.

I guess we have a few categories of TGSP...
1. Standard adhesive at the edges with microdots - nobody seems to be a big fan of these.
2. Glass fitted with LOCA adhesive - only the Whitestone in the market at the moment.

4. DIY LOCA - This seems quite appealing, but the choice of glass is probably quite important. Do you think it is still necessary to set on a Screen Protector? Because it has Gorilla Glass 5.
I come from Z1 Compact and there the only reason putting on a Screen Protector was the ugly foil sony put over the Gorilla Glass.

No, Sony got rid of that film layer a couple of generations back.
No matter how many numbers they slap onto the marketing name Gorilla Glass, it's still glass.
IMO cheap glass screen protectors are still a better option than having to replace the phone's screen when the inevitable scratches accumulates past my tolerance limit, which would be extremely inconvenient and potentially costly.
My phone lives most of its days in my pocket with no other objects, and curiously still manages to get scratches on the "9H scratch resistant Gorilla Glass level tempered glass" screen protectors that I use.
Maybe it's because the screen protectors have bogus claims, but that's enough to get me wary of going full on naked. Referring to the phone, of course.

That's because screen protectors are plastic.
I took the film cover off my girlfriends Z1c screen two years ago, it lives in her pocket or handbag (without any other objects). It's still looks perfect and no scratches or marks. The only thing that will scratch glass is something harder than glass, which you should never get if the phone lives in a soft cloth pocket. The only time you're likely to scratch it is when you put it down and pick it up off a hard surface, like, err, concreate or a metal table
I think the primary use for screen protectors is the slightly reduced chance of the screen cracking if you drop it face down. I don't think modern gorilla glass sctraches, it just shatters.

Uh, no, there are screen protectors made out of glass. Now whether or not they are of high quality glass is another issue, which is what I was skeptical of, but there is no doubt the one I'm using (and others I've used in the past) is glass not plastic.

I don't think the lighter is a foolproof way of checking, glass screen protectors actually have multiple layers with the glass portion sandwiched in-between, so depending on what the external layers are composed of, it will probably exhibit different behavior.
In any case, I don't have any spare old ones, they go straight to the trash once they're at end of life, and it's not necessary to buy extras, they're easily accessible.
Let me ask you instead, would plastic material shatter? Would it crack or chip like glass? I don't think so. But some of my previous glass screen protectors have.
There's also the feel and touch of the glass material that no plastic can ever mimic.
Maybe there aren't any real glass screen protectors where you live, but here they're abundant and extremely common, sold everywhere and in use by like everyone.
If they weren't really glass, surely someone qualified would have already exposed the scam, since they cost more than regular film screen protectors.
Unless you're working in the industry or with proof otherwise, I have a hard time believing you.

If it was glass it wouldn't get scratches. Obviously there's some sort of coating on the glass that shows marks.
Edit: so in answering the question of the thread. No I don't think you need screen protectors to stop scratches. I still have a Z1c that's had two years of no screen protector and it looks like its come out of the box. Screen protectors might reduce your chances of a broken screen if you throw it at the ground face first, but it's a small %.
Screen protectors don't make your screen look good, because even the fancy glass ones have a plastic coating that scratches and looks rubbish after no time.

ALWAYS! I've still got the plastic protector on mine as I've messed about looking for a proper protector and noticed today it's got the slightest of gouges and I've no idea how it happened. Scratch resistance isn't scratch proof and is only takes the one incident to ruin a factory installed screen forever so never take any chances with my screens.
FYI when a glass protector is labeled as 9H it doesn't mean a 9 on the mohs hardness scale. It means it claims that it's as hard as a 9H pencil

I never bothered with proper cases on my phones, but as the Vivo is likely to need repair back in China in case of an accident, I'm looking for a way to keep it secure.
I was about to order a screen protector but seems it comes with one attached already.
While the case looks great, I'm not confident it does much to protect the phone if it falls. Looking at ebay and amazon gives me a couple of options, but not much choice - have any of you bought a case, and if so, which one?
The most exposed part at risk of scratches is the camera unit. Ideally I would like a tempered glass protector with cutouts rather than covering the lenses with a full glass piece, but seems it doesn't exist for the Vivo yet

the laser should be cutout - those pictures are wrong from what others have been delivered. Luckily the flash is not in the module - because otherwise this metal protector would destroy any picture with flash as flash through a cutout still gives reflextions.
Quite a few people had horrible pictures on other phones and diddn't realise it happens because of auto flash and reflection from the lens protection back onto the sensor.
There is no Spigen case for the X90 Pro+.
I don't trust cases without air pockets (or two part cases with inner foam/outer carbon/aramaid) - and the case I have a silicon case with airpockets has horrible haptics - as the airpockets stick out - so other stuff in my pockets often gets stuck on them. Also makes for sharp edges... It feels pretty safe for protection but is too bulky...
Also the screen protector is low quality. it scratches very easily and has problems sticking onto the phone in subzero humid conditions.
And yeah - for my use I need something covering the space inbetween the lenses - just a cutout like the original cover even if more elevated I will surely scratch the camera cover glas.

At first I didn't realise it had a screen protector and was shocked to see micro scratches after simply dusting it off.
Will try to find a better quality protector and my search for a more secure case continues
UV film protectors are recommended in China for screen protection. They are hard to get outside China I guess in the right cut however.
Because yes the default one really is low quality. If I would not plan to sell this phone as soon as possible I would have ripped it off already.

I didn't want to make a separate thread and didn't see anything about it---but is there a screen protector on from factory?
Mine definitely has a film on it... but I tried for 5 minutes trying to pick at it to install a glass protector. Couldn't even get it to lift (being extra careful 'cause it's REALLY on there).
As for body I bought quite a few from aliexpress. I'm a fan of the aramid fiber ones but they don't offer that much protection in reality. Just wish they were magnetic capable like the pitaka cases.
@o4komodo Yes, in my experience, all Chinese smartphones come with a screen protector pre-installed. Keep in mind that aftermarket screen protectors can negatively affect the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

Oh yeah forgot that was a thing.
I put my glass screen over the phone (with the original screen protector and under film on) and it won't register. (not a good test since it has 2 plastic films to go through before the glass) Don't want to risk removing the films and applying the glass in case the fingerprint sensor doesn't work.
I do have two types though. The traditional one and the one that requries UV curing.
The film that comes with the phone is crap. Scratches in no time, cheap plastic.

Tried picking at it for a while with my finger nail while being careful. It didn't wanna come off.
Did you use film or glass for your new screen protector? I only have glass. I know it's usually okay for Samsung. Hopefully it'll be the same here.
I received my new screen protector - absolute rubbish, threw it straight in the bin as it can bend to follow the curvature of the screen. And fingerprint not working.

Did you re scan your finger after applying the protector? Found a post about the S21u and sS23u that had same issue and majority was down to that. Or to straight up get a hydrogel one.
Seems ultrasonic fingerprint readers and screen protectors don't like each other and cause a few issues anyway according to what they're all saying over there

The only kind of screen protectors recommended for the Ultra Sonic fingerprint reader are simple foils, or UV tempered glass protectors (those you put the glue below, press on the glass, then use a UV light to cure them on).
Or use a spray on/glue protector - or nothing. Because yeah the default one is rubbish and scratches very easily / even worse than scratches are roughed spots that decrease the display visibility much more which appear with use.
If it doesn't come off - put your phone in a humid bag into the fridge. Hiking in humind climate around 0° the original protector always gets loose.

Guess the glass is hard wearing so will take my chances.
Was thinking; since the X90 pro is sold in Europe, do you think it's possible to get them to do a repair (ie lens cover crack) instead of sending back to China? Lens cover size looks the same as the pro. Even a light scratch can ruin the image quality.

From what I heard before vivo Europe doesn't handle Chinese devices, except if you get vivo China to initiate it (by chatting in Chinese with a vivo rep in China).
I'm not sure how hard the lens surface is. I don't think it's really hard glass. It's quite frustrating there is no single case I think that isn't either huge or unsafe. There is a case like the stock one with camera cover but like stock it doesn't have air pockets. Found a case with not sticking out air pockets but it misses any cover on the lense. And then there are covers with air pockets but they stick out and are uncomfortable/get caught easily... And no I don't trust single piece aramid covers. Good ones consisting of outside with rubber inside don't exist either....
Did any of you guys manage to find a decent screen protector in the end?
I just got a better case with a higher lip protecting the camera module. As always, after a few weeks owning a new phone, I am more relaxed
