So i was poking around moto rescue tool as i wanted android 12 on my moto edge 20 pro which was stuck on 11 and accidentally found a way to update the phone without unlocking the bootloader via swap trick
Firstly download moto rescue tool
Rescue Tool
Then download a android 12 firmware for your moto (find it online)
Boot your phone into fastboot and hook it up to the rescue tool and click rescue it will start downloading the firmware for it it will start downloading android 11 firmware for it
Now you can either go to the default folder where it's downloading the firmware or change it to whichever folder you desire
Now take the 12 firmware you downloaded earlier bring it into the folder where rescue tool was downloading the firmware
Copy the name of temp file thats in the folder
Cancel the download (which will delete temp file)
Close rescue tool
And now take the firmware you downloaded the android 12 one and rename it to the name of that temp file (make sure file ends in zip not temp ignore the temp bit)
Turn on the rescue tool again and click rescue again it will "start downloading the firmware" again but it will actually sit at 0kbps as it reads and extracts the file you placed in and it will start installing it on your phone
wait till its done
Boom you have yourself Android 12 on your Edge 20 Pro
Thanks for this, took a couple of tries before it decided to finally decrypt it + had to unlock the bootloader otherwise the recovery would fail half way though flashing.

Hi, thanks for sharing this. I tried to flash a retail-apac 12 version to replace my China android 12 version, did not tried to change the file name, failed. Do you mean you changed the file name of zip which is downloading? Can you help to share the version of rescue tool you used?

I tried many different ways to change the file names, the flashing process started but failed at about 70% stage. I guess the reason is that my original ROM is China CMCC Android 12 version , the RSA tool might have updated to block user flashing this ROM to other region.
I also tried to use Tiny Fast Boot tool to flash the APAC Android 12 version, also failed. Had to unlock the Boot Loader of my phone, then only flashing AP, finally worked. APAC Android 12 version is not that stable comparing with China version, but I feel the message notice (pop up) is better than China version, and much less pre-installed Apps.
Hi Dev,
without unlocking the bootloader, it wasn't allowing to flash the rom.
now the annoying msg comes at the boot screen that bootloader is unlocked and not safe bla bla bla..
is there any way by flashing the boot.img to remove this msg?
PS i do not want to flash a custom rom and root the phone.

No way at all (that i am aware of), enjoy the message, treat it like a badge of honour
What about this guide??
Anybody tried??
Hi Guys,
Good News!!
would like to confirm that after flashing android 12 simply go back to fastboot mode with power and vol down button and run a command from adb
fastboot oem flashing lock
will lock the bootloader and that annoying msg wont appear again.
data will be wipped which is not a big deal at all.
now you are good to sell your phone.
what a relief.

The same thing happened to me when I tried to use a rootkit method for rooting the phone when it apparently knew nothing about the most recent updates (MRA58N or MRA58R). I ended up having to manual flash each individual image file from the MRA58N factory image (the flash-all script in the factory image zip wouldn't work). Even so, when I rebooted it still displayed the Your Device is Corrupt message. Then I went through the manual root process again (flashed the modified boot.img through fastboot, then flashed the latest TWRP recovery via fastboot, and then used TWRP to flash the latest SuperSU. Only then did the Your Device is Corrupt message go away and I also had root with everything else working fine.
It definitely made for an un-Godly horrible first 24-hours with my new phone! I hope this helps you.

can you please tell me steps i am so afraid to do anything to my phone now and i think my problem is same as yours
i downloaded 6.0.0 (MRA58R) and i used option in toolkit flash stock it gave me an error

Its not so easy to brick nexus, but make sure you don't lock bootloader before your phone is working right. You can find the guide how to flash it on XDA.
You will need to flash the missing files by hand.
I was able to fix the erro i got by flashing by :
setting up environmental variable
copy all the flash files, all.bat bootloaderXXX.img... etc to platform tools folder
made sure i connected into usb 2.0 port not usb 3.0
then i flashed the stock firmware XD now my phone to point zero again

You don't need to move the files to the platform-tools folder.
Go to Nexus 6 General > Sticky rol-up thread > Adb and fastboot. What is it?
This will tell you how to set up and use adb or fastboot properly.
I want to flash my phone with stock firmware, but I cannot find it anywhere.
I am looking for PRA-LX1C738B123.
I own Huawei p8 lite 2017
I wiped my system because I wanted to install other rom, it didn't work so I want to go back to the original.
Unfortunately I wasn't smart enough to do a backup before so I am stuck atm. The bootloader is unlocked and flashing works, I can boot into huawei eRecovery and TWRP. (eRecovery gives the getting package info failed error) I have tried the dload method with other app files, it fails at 5% every time tho.
I tried using Huawei Update Extractor and Firmware Finder but I cannot find the exact firmware.
Could someone help me with installing my firmware? Oh and I am kinda new and it would be nice to get some guides,
Thanks.
I have the same problem but with a different firmware.. now only thing i can do is use dc-phoenix paid software (15$ for 72h of use). I will try that tomorrow as i also can't find exact same firmware it was on my phone.

Thanks for reply. I will take that into consideration, but from what I see you were looking for PRA-LX1C432B106 and they indeed have the c432 roms there, however they don't seem to have the ones that I have been looking for. They have a list of firmwares online. Anyway good luck.

Hello ! I think I could be of some help since I encountered the exact same problem !
edit: well I just realized I can't find your ROM with firmware finder either, sorry for the failed attempt
In your case I'd try with each firmware until one would work or a I tried them all.
You need some utilities first :
- Firmware Finder
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tools/general/huawei-firmware-finder-team-mt-t3469146
It will allow you to find the stock ROM that fits your model
-Huawei UPDATE extractor
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433454
It will allow you to extract the .img files from the firmware previously downloaded.
-fastboot and adb
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
The programs that will allow you to flash the .img files.
Now:
1. Find your ROM using firmware finder (the model is usually on the box you received the android in).
2.Extract the necessary .img files : system.img, boot.img, recovery.img.
3.Reboot into the bootloader, connect your device to your computer, open a cmd exe (powershell in my case) by holding shift+right click on the folder containing the .img files and flash each .img file, e.g. for the system file:
"fastboot flash system system.img"
4.then use "fastboot reboot" and after that shutdown your device
(in my case even after flashing the .img files I was greeted by a blank screen, so I shutdown my device holding the power button).
5. Boot into recovery holding vol up + power buttons (be sure to disconnect your device before shutting down and powering it up again) and choose factory reset.
It should then reboot into ROM installation procedure where you will have to follow the same steps as when you booted your device for the first time.
edit: formatting
Also, as far as my limited knowledge goes, there is no custom ROM officially supported for our dear device.

Yes I had the exact same problem, but once I did what I described, by rebooting into recovery (without twrp), I finally had the option to restore factory settings.
I believe the issue is in the fact you don't have access to the stock ROM for your model.

Unfortunately I can't help you further than what I already posted.
But keep updating in case someone more knowledgeable peeks in.
similar problem....I was fairly good but play store was stuck in pending download....
I did a wipe in TWRP, and ended with a black screen...
I can boot to eRecovery, but it fails.and also to TWRP.
when attached to PC it keeps being seen and unseen as if its stuck in a power on cycle
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello did you already test ???
Here is the solution for every PRA-LX1: [http : // www . htcmania . com / showthread . php ? t=1326478] (sorry for the spaces, but I don't have enough posts written to post external links )
Unfortunately, it's from a spanish forum. I didn't found any problem to follow this tutorial, but maybe for someone it could be a little difficult.
Anyway, it works!

Where did you find the C432 firmware? I can't succees to find it
Flashing to a completely empty phone via DC phoenix or manual via fastboot still didnt got my device started. Sometimes I end up in the eRecovery and sometimes its just stuck at boot.
I tried different version from the hicloud but none so far did the trick. Maybe someone can point me into the right direction so i can finally rescue this phone?
EDIT:
PRA-LX1C432
Sorry cant link to these files since i don't got 10 posts. Maybe PM ?
Copied the Mega TWRP backup (B100) to SD card
Flashed TWRP via fastboot
Disconnected the USB cable
Boot into TWRP
Restored TWRP backup
Restarted phone into fastboot
OEM unlocked it
Got booted into TWRP since no stock recovery there
Booted into fastboot again
flashed stock recovery
Android started to work!
Tried to update to B164 and failed
Reboot
Now it offered B110 and I tried to update to B110. Success.

I CONFIRM IT WORK PERFECTLY
For the second part go to this link for more detail :

So I unlocked my bootloader and installed TWRP on the p20pro. Just received status that there's full update available. I downloaded and try to install, but the phone would boot into recovery and nothing happens. How should I go about updating the firmware on the device with TWRP?

Either reflash the stock recovery or keep TWRP and use HuRUpdater Tool (search for it here on XDA)

Hi.Same issue. Does reflash stock recover wipe all my datas ?
How to use HuruUpdater as ther current TWRP does not allow to access on local files (no decryption).
THanks
JP
here's the details
- Unlock bootloader from Huawei : http://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin/unlock/index
- (It's still possible to unlock the bootloader. Just send an email to your local support or tweet them (HuaweiUK). They'll ask you for some info and send you the unlock code. Took me two days to get the code)
- TWRP : https://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...2-1-0-t3779400
- hurupdater_0.3.zip https://forum.xda-developers.com/hon...overy-t3769279 also works perfectly for P20 Pro
Magisk file (if you want to get rooted) https://******************/Magisk/Magisk-v16.0.zip
Now, get patient, an old man did it!
In future direct links for our CLT-L29 european(C432)..
http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-databa...irmware_page=0
Click on FullOTA-MF (only!) and click on filelist I had to click several times on filelist to get the links to the 3.zip files needed (thinks to Tecalote for his patience!)
So, the difficult part was to rename the.zip files( I went to #32, page 4 and renamed exactly like it was : Download firmware files (for official firmware use Huawei Firmware Finder).
1. Put files you want to flash in a seperate folder on sdcard.
Supported zip files to flash are (name must match):
o update.zip (use FullOTA file)
o update_full_hw.zip
o update_data_full_public.zip
2. Optional: Put recovery.img (rename your TWRP downloaded "recovery_ramdisk twrp_clt_0.1.img") in same folder if you want to keep custom recovery.
3. Put HuRUpdater zip in same folder. Example:
4. Select only HuRUpdater to flash in custom recovery.
5. Follow instructions on screen. Flashing can take multiple minutes.
Then I followed exactly step by step.
It didn’t work and I had error messages flashing with hurupdater_0.3.zip:
No update_data_public.zip found in /sdcard/”name of your folder”
No update_all_hw.zip in /sdcard/”name of your folder”
As you can see the name of the .zip files did’nt match #32.
I renamed exactly as asked to get rid of the error messages, and BINGO!

Update CLT-L29 8.1.0.128(C432) with TWRP already installed
Update CLT-L29 8.1.0.128(C432) with TWRP already installed
Hello,
Many thanks to all of your for your kind support , so I intend to create a summary of what I did, hoping it could help others !
I had already unlock previsouly my Bootloader (of course, else this topic would not exist) via Unlock bootloader from Huawei :https://emui.huawei.com/en/unlock_detail
I already had TWRP and Magisk installed and wanted to get the latest official firmware for my P20-PRO-CLT-L29(C432) - > CLT-L29 8.1.0.128(C432).
When intending to update (from my phone), it could not work (I allways boot back to TWRP), upgrade failed.

Start with : Do your Backup !
Removed then all security (screen unlock in developper mode =0) , no pin, no pattern, no password, no fingerprint, no faceunlock
Download the following set of files (that I've uploaded and ready to use) : https://mega.nz/#F!pEpRDB7R!pmPDjlqgtdHTs39gyLdJhg
(nota : my upload is quite slow, so please wait some hours before it is available)
It contains : HuRUpdater_0.3.zip, Magisk-v16.4-Beta.zip, twrp_clt_0.1.img, recovery.img
, update.zip, update_all_hw.zip, update_data_public.zip
- On your phone create a folder including all files from the package above.
- Boot in TWRP
- Install : HuRUpdater zip from the folder where you had put all files (no issue with decryption, at least in my case)
Nota : I had almost an heart attack during installation as it did a reference to CLT-09... not CLT-29 but it works and this despite some strange error messages.
When achieved : wipe/cache dalvik.
Phone will reboot and optimize the apps.
In my case, I lost my root access and TWRP, so I've done it again, but normally it was supposed to stay when using HurUpdater
Install TWRP (again if needed) :
- Start your device in fastboot mode
- Install the recovery using the following command : fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp_clt_0.1.img
Restart with this command: fastboot reboot
Important : As soon as you execute the restart command, remove the USB cable and keep pressing Volume UP, so the device will boot to TWRP. This is to avoid that the device boot to OS,overwritting TWRP recovery.
Reboot again in recovery
(re)Install : Magisk-v16.4-Beta.zip
Have fun,
JPh

You lost twrp because you didn't rename the file as recovery.img

THANK YOU! THIS WORKED SO PERFECTLY!
Until now, I tried the following:
Back up my data and apps to SD card with EMUI Backup App
Download OTA update (it first downloads the incremental ~100-200MB update) and click install
This doesn't work of course - TWRP tries to execute the update command but dies with error messages
Reboot, try downloading/installing updates again, the downloader then downloads the -FULL update
Extract recovery.img from update.zip>update.app
Flash stock recovery over TWRP
Initiate update again from Update App (System Settings)
Update runs smoothly, but bootloader is locked again afterwards
Restore from backup, flash TWRP again, flash SuperSU again
BUT THIS IS MARVELOUS! I will only lose SuperSU and Xposed, and given that HuRUpdater is provided with the correct filenames including TWRP renamed to recovery.img, I will just have to install SuperSU and Xposed again after updating the firmware.
It worked flawlessly with the stock firmware files from update.hicloud.com, and you'll usually find all the links a few hours after the release somewhere on the internet.

I have a few questions regarding this method to update :
Do I need to make a new backup using twrp after this update since the system files changed due to the update? (correct if i'm wrong i'm a previous iphone owner this my first android device)
Is the any method to force update 8.0 even it will erase every thing and after that just flash twrp and restore backup (i think all the methods mentioned are complicated for me)

Hi, I have the same problem but with my Huawei P10Lite WAS L1XA with firmware oreo installed from the phone and on reboot enters twrp mode.
Can I ask you to look for the files for my model?
(I spent three hours looking for those files but I could not find anything) ...
So, if you don't want to wait for official start of update enroll, you may update to Android 9 by yourself.
Before you do something, think yourself if it is worth it. It may brick your device. I'm not a technician, support, or telegram group guru from Malaysia/India/Poland or Russia. I'm just a curious user, spended one evening to get Android 9 and was lucky to do it.
U'll need:
vky-l29 device C432 (European) with stock Android 8 (i had latest update 384)
beta-flashy
update
and another update
Installed ADB and Huawei device drivers, activated ADB and rooted phone.
Extract beta flashy to your PC
Download firmware
Put the update.zip into the "ZIPS-HERE" folder.
rename the update_full_VKY-L29_hw_eu.zip to update_all_hw.zip and put it in the ZIPS-HERE folder
run FLASH.bat
instructions used from this page
firmware URL's got from here
I've got failure message while updating. But when rebooted, it was Android 9 installed.
UPD: managed to root it by patching recovery_ramdisk file. you may do it yourself by extracting file from update.app, or download this one
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img
reboot from fastboot to recovery (vol up + power) and load to system.

obviously, y'll have to root the device. i don't remember for sure, but this one method should do the job https://openkirin.net/user_guide/how-to-install-magisk/
i have been rooting my phone since the galaxy s5 and the last phone i was able to root was the moto x4. that was a couple years ago and have been using a moto z3 (not play) then switched to the galaxy s10+. i feel like a complete noob all over again tbh  i remember the moto x4 had the a/b partition and see that this phone uses the same thing. so i know i cant flash twrp, i unlocked my bootloader and was able to boot into twrp, after i get there i feel lost on what to do next to install magisk. can anyone help me out a little, i miss having superuser privileges so any help how to get it installed and booted up will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance!
I'm not sure if I can help you. I have Z3 Play and I got my bootloader unlocked by Motorola. I thought the Moto Z3 (non-play) sold by Verizon was unlockable. I would triple check that is the case. Everytime the phone starts, it complains for a couple of seconds that the bootloader is unlocked. This is true with the phone being stock.
On the Z3 Play,
To root the phone, you do *NOT* need TWRP. It will just break everything with future updates. You need the current fastboot flash files for your phone, and magisk app. I get the fastflash os files with the Lenovo Moto Smart Assistant. If there is a upgrade available, it will download the latest, otherwise you will need to get it download the rescue file and select model to get it to download your files.. Once the files are in hand. In windows 10, it places them in C:\ProgramData\LMSA\Download\RomFiles\ folder. You are interested only in the boot.img file, and you need to copy that file to your phone somehow. With the magisk app installed(it's not in gplay store, search for magisk on xda) and running, the app does not require root to run, click Magisk Install. Then at the next popup click Install, and the next popup select "Select and Patch a File", and navigate to the boot.img you copied over to your phone. Once the file is patched, navigate to the internal\Downloads\magisk_patched.img and copy this file back to your pc. Verify that it's not a 0 byte file size. Magisk creates the patched file with some weird read permissions.
Assuming you have the *entire* moto os version already already installed on your phone, that matched the boot.img you copied to your phone. It's safe to go ahead and upgrade with the LMSA utility, then patch boot afterwards. It's just involved getting the os flash files, that match your specific phone model.
Then with adb or optionally, put the phone in rescue mode manually
adb reboot bootloader
wait for the phone to rebooted to rescue mode
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
fastboot reboot
All done. Be sure to back everything up prior to starting. Unless you have messed up with the twrp installs of magisk, lenovo moto smart assistant normally will install updates without wiping the phone. You just have to go through that minor step of patching the boot.img and reflashing it. I haven't tried to overwrite the boot.img it downloads, with the the magisk patched, to skip that step. Because you need fastboot flash files goin forward, it's best to freeze the motorola update service, and manually update with a pc. Normally ota updates just fail anyways. Originally, I made the mistake of installing magisk with twrp and that prevented updates from being applied with lenovo moto smart assistant. I had to do the manual all fastboot install of the entire moto os, with a complete wipe. These steps are outline in great detail in other messages.
I'm not sure how much of this applies to the Z3 non play, so proceed at your own risk. If it was my phone, I would research it more.
I just picked up a Verizon Z3 Play and have been struggling to unlock the bootloader. I do everything in Ubuntu and have used ADB and Fastboot from the repository forever and have used them on Motos, Sammies, ZTEs, and LGs. I even used them on a MotoG7. I could not get fastboot boot to work on the VZ3Play. I was sure Verizon changed the bootloader so you could not use fastboot. I dusted off my old Windows laptop, installed the lenovo drivers and used mfastboot and it worked without an issue. My VZ3Play has an unlocked bootloader and I flashed a Magisk Modified Bootloader. All is good. Not sure what's wrong with the VZ3Play's bootloader and linux just glad I got it done.
Magisk is the new superuser, it is the one that allows root access, so after you've installed Magisk and booted normally, open the manager app and go to the superuser tab to see which app has been granted access

Not sure how much you have tried but when I used Ubuntu with adb, it required different files and different permissions. I figured out you need to type whole file names ( with the . Whatever at the end)

I tried install magisk with your guide but it causes bootloop. I have newest firmware and newest Magisk. But when I tried to flash Magisk via TWRP it works fine.
