Question Missing functionality of google photos on tab s8. - Samsung Galaxy Tab S8

Hi everybody,
Any ideas to why possibility of using google lens from within google photos is missing.
Newest versions of both photos and lens are installed.
In addition locked folder is also missing.

I'm pretty sure the locked folder feature is only for Google Pixel devices at this point (all devices might get it eventually). I'll have to take a look at Photos on my Tab S8 Ultra regarding Lens. I wouldn't think by now that it's only for Pixel devices.

Well, according to google Forums lens is built into photos app and should be working on any device by now.
I mean, I can make it without folder thing since samsung has something similar which actually works but living without lens integrated into photos is going to be tough - I use this function a lot.
I have Xperia handset and both locked folder and lens works.
Maybe it has something to do with photos not being system app on my tab s8+
Thanks for taking time and checking if it works on your tablet.

I doubt if it has anything to do with not being a system app.
Great news. I was able to do everything on the tablet. The only caveat is that to use Lens, I had to go into an image in Photos and choose the Share button and then choose Lens. FYI, the first time, I found that Lens was "disabled" (maybe from non-use?), so I had to enable it, plus there was an updated version available.
And I found the locked folder fine via two methods - the Utilities tab and the 3-dot menu inside an image.
All screenshots taken on my bootloader unlocked, rooted Wi-Fi only Tab S8 Ultra.

You're welcome! Are you rooted, too?

Thanks again for taking time to help me!
So, yes I can see option to set up Locked folder now in utilities. Fanny thing, it wasn't there yesterday, but works now.
When it comes to lens, your suggested workaround works too. Minor inconvenience that now hole process takes couple of additional clicks.
Still, why it can't just work like on a phone? ( I guess my OCD kicks in ). Even windows version of google photos has lens functionality built-in, but hey, at least the workaround is there.
Maybe it's a tablet thing, there are two versions of Photos, one for handsets and one for tablets, right?

No, I stopped rooting my devices couple of years back. But maybe with this tablet I'm gonna start again. I would like it to be...more sock android like.

If Locked Folder still wasn't available to you, I was going to ask you how long you've had the tablet - I was wondering if maybe being left on and connected to Wi-Fi (or mobile data) would eventually lead to the feature being enabled for you.

I agree. On my Pixel 6 Pro, if I want Info about the image I just swipe up, but it's weird that on the Tablet UI they replace the Lens button with the Info button. Maybe that's something that'll trickle down to tablets eventually.

Not that I know of, at least as far as it's the same Play Store entry no matter what - but I don't know for sure. Maybe this evening if I remember I'll compare version numbers for the Photos app on my phone versus my tablet.

If the tablet were my main mobile device, I would want to, too. I don't have the time to micromanage my devices too much these days, though.

The tablet is brand new, I had it for like 3 days.
At first, the only message in utilities tab in photos was one about joining my libery with my partners. After I clicked it away the next morning message about locked folder appeared.

I'm curious to try it. I can't see any reason why it wouldn't be compatible with the G Tablet, but then again I'm no expert. I think it is supposed to work with DropBox for swapping drawings back and forth, not sure what else will work with it.
Anyone else following this?

Well this is just GREAT. The app won't install to the g-tablet !!
I installed it just fine on my phone. If I could find it, I'd try to copy it over to the g-tab... but I can't locate it on the phone, it doesn't show up in apps. Wonder where it could be ??
I will have to dig around and see if I can find it. Crappity.
I did take a page out of Roebeet's book ... I have tweeted AutCAD WS and asked if there is an alternate place to download the application. Hopefully I'll get results as good as he did!
Solved
Solved - in case anyone cares to know.
Here's how I went around the back way to install:
1. Install AutoCAD WS to an Android phone.
2. Use Titanium Backup to backup the application to the sdcard.
3. Connect phone to PC as a USB drive; copy three files to PC. The are a Properties file, a zipped .tar file and a zipped .apk file.
4. Unzip the two zipped files on the PC.
5. Connect the G-Tablet to the PC as a USB drive. Copy the properties file, the .tar file and the .apk files to /system/apps. Note that the latter two must be unzipped.
6. Use a file explorer to install AutoCAD WS on the G Tablet.
I tested it by opening the sample drawings and it was fine. It also recognizes drawings sent as email attachments and will open those.

Ditto for me. Friend of mine tried it on his Gtab, same ROM, it installed it to his phone (from the web market), even though he selected his tab.
Anyone else notice that "pinch to zoom" only works with your fingers horizontal, not vertical? Happens in most apps for me, including this.
I don't see the appeal of having a CAD application on a touch device like this. For viewing, sure, but for content creation it seems much more painful than a traditional CAD setup.

Sure. It will be for viewing only, or perhaps to make notes in a drawing during a meeting. My intent in purchasing the tablet was to increase my workspace mobility; this will be very handy in meetings.

Bingo! Now I just need to convince my employer to let me bring my tablet into work (stupid security at defense contractors)
keep in mind, there are people who do autocad in the "field" .. For instance at my previous job, the field surveyors would create dxf's in real time with their data collectors. Being able to look at the file before leaving the site would help for those 5 shots they forgot to shoot.. Not to mention they could email the point file and dxf and proceed to the next job without visiting the office again..
I think those data collectors are meant to connect to PC's; not sure if they would connect to the G-Tab. It would be awesome if they did.

Anybody actually been able to reach that site? I have been getting a "service temporarily unavailable" message since I saw this thread a few days ago.
UPDATE: I found the app in the marketplace at https://market.android.com/details?id=com.autodesk.autocadws&rdid=com.autodesk.autocadws&rdot=1 but of course, not for MY phone.
Can someone host it for sideloading?

I can only speak for the units i did IT support for, but they were the industry standard data collectors.
yes, they are designed to connect to pc's via db9 to usb, or bluetooth
however, the data collectors communicated with the total station and gps stations via bluetooth. It's not hard to do a bluetooth file transfer from the data collector to another device..
Hell, i even sent a file from a data collector through a nextel i530 (i believe that's the model #)
you don't know hell until you've operated a $4,000, 206 MHz, Windows CE 3.0, 4.1" 320x240 monochrome resistive screen with a kick butt 32mb of ram when it's 5 degrees outside ... On the plus side, it did have a built in screen heater so that the screen would work down to -22 deg(f) !
This app looks pretty useful as is but it doesn't look like it will allow the creation of new documents on the tablet, only viewing or editing of already created and uploaded ones. Or did I just not find it?
At any rate, even as things stand this will be a huge benefit to me in my quest to make my tablet a bigger value to me while I'm in the field on project start ups.
Now I just need to get off my butt and get started on that field/trip report app...

sorry for the stupid question - I'm kind of a newb at this:
How do I install it? I tried unzipping to my gtab and renaming the .apk.gz to .apk but that didn't seem to work...

Things I don't like so far

In order from most annoying:
Cannot whitelist k9 mail (and other things) from power saving (this is a deal breaker, I'm taking it back)
Long press to select text instead of double click (vanilla android allows both) (almost a deal breaker)
Media volume cannot be increased without acknowledging warning when BT connected
Can’t disable bixby button without samsung account
No root (needed to run webserver on 80 and change iptables)
Fingerprint sensor hard to find, hard to touch (compared to nexus 6p)
Default phone app sucks and can’t be changed
-Notifications for blocked numbers calling
-Hard to block numbers
-Hard to add recent calls to contacts (uses wrong account or something)
Volume buttons hard to find, on wrong side of phone
Samsung sms app is ugly and horrible (replaceable)
Samsung calendar app does not allow multiple default reminders (replaceable)
Lock screen time is on multiple lines with no way to change it
Thats nice. Enjoy.

lol once again the user is the problem not the device... you can do all of those things either with an app from the play store or with root. maybe stick to something more simple? try iOS.
Not sure how moving to another Android device will help you.

Now we know from authoritative source that volume button is on the wrong side all those years, imagine that.
There are ways to adjust pretty much all of these points. Some are android specific - assume you are new to Android??
Did you even review the phone/play with it before spending on something you have chosen to dislike? To be fair you've come to a forum where 99.9999% of people are note enthusiasts so you will be whacked with a great big stick with a post like this :silly:
Ok how do you whitelist from power saving in a way that actually works? The settings interface for that is much different than stock android and doesn't actually let stuff run all the time like it does on my 6p. k9 always says syncing disabled (and works fine on 6p with stock nougat or oreo).
How do you get double-tap to select a word in text? Works by default in stock android.
After asking twice before to confirm increase volume while BT connected, it didn't ask this last time I increased it. I guess it is magically ok now.
How do you disable bixby button without creating a samsung account? There is an app that used to work using accessibility but no longer works in latest update.
How do you get root? The rooting page itself says "2.Enable OEM Unlock from developer option (Currently no workaround for those who doesn't have this option)" and I don't have this option.
How do you change the phone app? I tried downloading and installing one from apkmirror and got an error when installing.
How do you prevent notifications when blocked callers call?
How do you get normal time on the lock screen? Not the always on screen.

A respectful suggestion if I may.
Your first post was..... confrontational? Not the way to have your teething problems answered or supported.
Many of us, in all forum's, experience teething problems. I suggest you ask questions preferably one at a time so a peer can offer you some advice.
I have yet to ask for help here and not receive it. You will find there are some amazingly smart guys and gals here who will help IF you ask a palatable question. I am afraid what you have done is cause bad feeling and that's not the way to get help with your problems. Just food for thought. :good:

I agree with the fingerprint sensor placement, for me being left handed, I have ot align it perfectly for it to work. Luckily the iris scanner is fast.
One issue I am coming across is my phone would random reboot and some settings would be changed to stock. For example, the font size would be change to default instead of everything tiny. My quick shortcuts layouts are stock and I have to re-login into some apps.
It happened about 3 times since i got the phone the first week of September. Hopefully I'm not alone. Sucks if I am though...lol
There is no help for those issues. That is why there is no response, and why the phone is going back. I am surprised anyone can stand the samsung interface and that is why it might sound confrontational. The apps that samsung replaces default apps with are really awful.

The only issue or possibly even an advantage is Samsung is edging it's own ecosystem in more and more. , basically it encourages one to buy another Sammy device and stay on board with them.

Anybody can fan-boy and circlejerk, that takes no skill.
It takes skill to spot issues and courage to speak out on them.
Every phones has its issues, these do not make Note 8 useless, but buyers can more easily decide if it is for them, when they know its particular failings.

So which of the OP's claims do you really care about, because most are false, many are non issues for the majority and a few are valid. But the point remains that they were posted in the wrong forum.

It's not a critical assessment...it's a misleading one.
A few observations.
The volume button on the left side is the more ergonomic position and also makes it less likely you will drop the phone while changing volume making it an objectively better placement. The fingerprint scanner? Yeah, it's poor ergonomics at best and your complaint there is well justified.
Root is something you knew going in you wouldn't have, if it mattered you should have bought something else. I do agree in general that the trend toward taking root access from us is one I hate. That's why I bought an international version and rooted it.
The Samsung calendar app is less well featured than the stock app but it uses no resources when not used and you can always use the google app or one of the several better than stock google calendar apps on the play store. You don't get to complain about not having an app you can put on you phone in seconds which isn't even close to the best app of its kind anyways. I BTW didn't use the stock app on my 6P, didn't meet my needs.Samsung's stock SMS app is awful, IMO someone should be fired there because it falls below even a minimum level of functionality. But then while Googles does manage to get to at least a minimally functional feature set it isn't much better and both are a long way from what can be had in seconds for free that work better than either on the market. You don't get to complain about this one either though, the stock google app is a few clicks away and a few seconds will give that stock google experience if that is your preference.
Same number of clicks with Samsung to add a recent callers to contacts. Hard to do so is dismissed.
Hard to copy because you have to long press instead of double tap? Seriously? lol That's a fairly lame complaint without even taking into consideration the S-pen which opens up a whole world of options that you don't have on the 6P, one of which is using the S-Pen in the first place.
I like the default dialer and it has features which Google's does not. Regardless it can be changed as well as which dialer is the default, where did you get the idea you couldn't change dialers?
I don't have the media volume warning with my phone unless I'm on headphones, not sure why you do?
The Bixby button can be disabled, it can be disabled without signing into Samsung. Just an FYI, it can also be slaved to another function. All without root.
You can white list any app from power saver, just takes a few clicks, assuming of course you know which clicks. You have in an oblique way a real gripe here, Samsung's menus are getting better but they are still too bloated. The search menu function is your friend in pursing hard to find settings.
Who uses lock screens in this day an age? You've get bio-metrics and AOD, leaving the lock screen as an artifact of what was once the best we could do but isn't anymore. Think of it this way, I'm a pathetic old man and I've been able to understand that lockscreens are now just an extra step. Your complaint in this regard reminds me of my friends who cant handle new tech and are still trying to hang on to their flip phone.
At this point you probably think I'm busting your balls a little bit and you're right. On the other hand your complaints are largely groundless. The only real objective gripe you have is the fingerprint sensor location. Your assessment of the volume button location is subjective, not objective, and objectively is incorrect. Your complaints about the stock apps can be applied to google apps in the same way and most of which I changed on my 6P just as I have here. The impression I get is that the main problem you have is you need to learn how to shop better. There is no reason to buy a phone that does not have root if you know you want root. There is no reason to buy a phone well known for it's rather overbearing GUI and menu bloat if you know you are going to hate it. Why do that to yourself?

First time Huawei, first time P20 Pro - few questions

Hello people,
I'm a long time Xiaomi-User.
I saw this phone for 300€ (used, but perfect condition) and decided to buy it and give it a chance.
If it would be not that great (for me, ofcourse), I'd sell it and buy the Mi 9, since I love MIUI.
But yeah, since I already ordered it, here are my questions:
1. Am I going to hate EMUI? (maybe someone has experience with both MIUI and EMUI)
2. How's the camera after all the updates? I watched YouTube videos but since most of the good videos are old, I thought I should ask here.
- low light?
- OIS working as it should?
- video stabilisation? are videos really that bad?
- selfie?
- other?
3. Battery should be good? Over 6 hours SoT possible?
4. Any other useful tips for me, as a newcommer to Huawei/P20 Pro? Some must have know-hows?
Thanks!

Hello. I will answer,of course with my personal opinions.
I work in IT,so I talk a lot on the phone, and I receive plenty of emails,I even browse 9gag a lot,Facebook, and still I get 1 day and a half of battery...so don't worry(but I also stopped from startup most of the apps, except the ones I want notifications from, usually messaging apps),and I manually Debloated it(you can uninstall system apps using ADB,without root and without unlocking the bootloader,so no problems with warranty - I just removed apps like Chrome,Google AI,google photos, google music, google Duo,google Drive).
I never used a Xiaomi,so I don't know how much you will like the interface, but it's easy to use once you get used to it.
You can even activate a drawer for apps if you don't like apps directly on home screen, notifications can be changed to "unread" instead of the default one with a dot on the app(I use unread,I like it better,so I know how many notifications I have per app).
Cameras are great(I hope your device is alright, since it's not new).
I have the european version with update 9.0.0.195
Cameras are really good with AI,and you have a Master AI slider,so you can disable it. An advice: after updating to latest version, wipe cache partition from Recovery(turn off the phone, then hold the volume + while turning it on,and do not release volume + button until it enters the recovery, then wipe cache partition).
After booting, just go to settings - apps - Camera - storage and wipe data for this app,so it will not use the old files from old version.
And an advice for photos with multiple people(doesn't matter if you use the selfie camera or back cameras).
When you're making group photos, with multiple persons, disable the portrait mode either by touching the little X besides the "Portrait mode",or by sliding to "Photo" mode. Because if portrait is enabled,it will focus on one person and blur the others...it seems it's not for multiple persons. Someone told me it's the same on Mate 20 Pro.
Video stabilization is not enabled when filming in 4K,but it works well with 1080p 60 fps(it's better on emui 9 than on emui 8).
Hope I helped. Cheers!

I recently moved from Mi 6 to P20 Pro. I actually like EMUI more than MIUI.
First of all I'm a big fan of app drawer which is missing from MIUI and can be enabled in EMUI.
To my taste EMUI 9 looks (icons, settings order etc.) and works (animation smoothness, power management) better than MIUI 10.
Although both those things are only personal preference.
2. How's the camera after all the updates? I watched YouTube videos but since most of the good videos are old, I thought I should ask here.

I'm a bad photographer, but even I manage to do some good pictures on P20 Pro. Night mode is great, and overall the camera software is way more polished than what I had on Mi 6. I can't compare difference in camera between EMUI 8 and EMUI 9 because I upgraded pretty much straight ahead.
3. Battery should be good? Over 6 hours SoT possible?

I don't usually check SoT, but overall battery life is great. On average I charge the phone every 36 hours (usually when ~20% left). With Mi 6 is was a bit less.

1. As already mentioned - Use debloat to uninstall apps that you don't need (use with caution).
2. Disable automatic power management for apps you want to run constantly (Settings -> Battery -> App launch).
3. Learn how to use the Camera app.
4. Don't expect for very fast Android updates (as MIUI user you should be familiar with that).
@exodus394 , @arty_a ,
first of all, thanks for your answers!
My P20 Pro arrived today and I'm still testing everything.
I'm pretty happy with everything except maybe the camera. I couldnt test it 100% but the photos I took with the phone, arent that great.
Especially the night mode. I could almost say, it's maybe 20% better than with normal mode.. I dont know, maybe I'm doing something wrong.
I used gcam (google camera) on my Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and the Night mode on gcam was like 50 times better than on P20 Pro, although Xiaomi doesnt have that good camera as P20 Pro has.
I already wiped cache via recovery and deleted cache+data from the camera app, but it's still not good.
Anything I could do wrong here?
I was thinking about debloating and will do it now.
@arty_a ,
what are the benefits of disabling the automatic power managment for apps?
If it's enabled, do I stop getting notifications for some apps? (like MIUI had a problem with)
And, what do you mena with "Learn how to use the Camera app"? Manual mode or something else?
Thanks again guys!

first of all, thanks for your answers!

I think there is something wrong with your unit. P20 Pro is the best at night and low light photos. I even took photos in environments where I barely could see something with naked eye,but the phone took a lot of details, more than I could see...no phone can do that better at the moment.

Exactly that.
In addition some apps can fail to autostart when triggered by other app (Waze + Spotify, AndroidAuto + pretty much everything). It's very annoying and frustrating when you run into it for the first time.

Just check all the settings and modes you have, like "Beauty" and "Light" in Portrait mode, Pro mode where you can control pretty much everything, "More" where you have the slow-mo and a lot of other stuff.
Regarding "Night mode" try using it when it's really dark, not just low lite situation, that is where it shows its full power.
Very interesting thread. My question has to do with security. Since we all know about the allegations that have been thrown at Huawei about not being a secure phone since it is manufactured in China, what steps can the average Joe take to make this phone more safe without installing a custom ROM. I've already done the de-bloating steps listed here. Thanks in advance

I apologize in advance for being harsh.
First of all - if you want to learn about this stuff go do some research, I mean, at least 5 first pages of google, don't ask anonymous people on a forum.
One of the things you will learn is that main concern about Huawei are not phones but other, enterprise, products - cellular network controllers, servers etc. Spying on people over phones is cool but not efficient, spying over governments and enterprises over their backbone and communication infrastructure is very efficient and scary.
Now, let me split my answer into 2 parts:
1) If you are concerned over hardware, don't use a smartphone at all. All manufacturers either produce their phones in China or at least use some hardware produced in China. If the Chinese want to physically bug your phone they will, even if it's an iPhone.
2) If you are concerned over software, then again, it's not only Huawei, pretty much any non-American manufacturer (Hauwei, Xiaomi, LG, even Samsung) can overnight push an OTA that will add "spying" software and I bet it will not be found immediately.
Now, if you are concerned about privacy and not security then:
1) If you use Apple or Google account you are already willingly give away a lot of your information to be processed by them.
2) If you have any social media account you do the same in addition to making parts of that information publicly accessible.
3) Regarding phone specific vendor (Huawei in this case) - don't use any vendor specific services (Huawei ID, built in Email app, AppGallery, etc.)
P.S. Custom ROMs can contain some "bad things" too.

OTG updates and rebooting won't change anything, what's uninstalled will stay uninstalled, but factory reset will reset the phone to its original 'factory' condition.
thanks for this, very helpful
does any one know if these lists to debloat are broken down into usable groups to warn if you intend to use a certain a certain application , eg samsung pay you cannot remove the following items, etc. I've had issues in the past that removing a few items caused others to malfunction. i just don't want to get debloat happy and cause kept items to fail.

Ppl have different priorities, a relevant app for someone might be disregarded by others so you have to do it on your own. Best way to find out is to google the entire package name "com.xxxx.xxxxx.etc..." and look for the answers.
Wouldn't it be nice if Samsung acted like a respectable manufacturer and not some back alley pimp?
It's not like these junk filled phones are cheap.

I know I have bought package disabler pro something like twice. With my S21 ultra (which I decided to keep - pathetic me) has anybody had experience with using it with Android 11? I don't want to throw money at them again although it has worked well in the past.

It's a very useful app. It allows you to set a widget that when an entry is checked it will toggle the apk(s) on/off by touching the widget
Uses very little battery. Runs clean and stable.
Something else unique about it is for troubleshooting when you clear an apk's data it leaves no nulls (presumably) behind.
It can completely clear a system apk's data that clearing the data in Settings will not.
That saved me a reload once and also allowed me to isolate the system apk that was causing the issue.
My Verizon branded hardly had anything on it out of the box. The second it hit the internet I got about 15 games and a ton of crap out of the blue.
What is Verizon calling that DT ignite app now? I can't find it.

Have you disabled Verizon App Manager within the settings. I had the same issue you did. From Google-ing around, I found that this app can install apps without your permission (according to reddit)

If you don't disable updates Verizon can alter your firmware as they see fit.
Verizon like AT&T are partnered with Samsung, let that stink in for a few seconds.
Verizon gives active input to firmware updates from Samsung. To the point were the interface may be quite different from a stock Samsung... and not necessarily for the better.
The last updates are usually the worst; been there, done that.
Not taking that ride again

What works for one person may not work for another as there many variants of the same model.
It's best if you try to learn what the apk you're disabling does. Some have dependencies.
Some will boot loop the device if not able to run on boot up. I'm also using Karma Firewall so sometimes instead of disabling an apk I simply firewall block it to retain better functionality and ease of use. I have no easy solution that fits all. Learn by doing.
You should always be ready to do a reload with all critical your data backed up.
It's rarely needed but it can be needed at any moment with little or no warning.
That said I've never crashed an OS using a package disabler however your results may vary
I use my SD card as a data drive. I can do a full restore anywhere, anytime with little or no internet connection in about 2 hours.
Without an SD card your backup alternatives are less attractive...
There is literally zero data showing that debloating brings a any value or efficency at all

[Speculation/Question] Google Pixel (series) and Unlimited Photo storage

I'm a little late on the news for this, but I just recently seen on my device that there will eventually be a cut-off on how much storage can be used. I then learned that the Pixel brand of phones (at least a couple of them) will have a few ways to maintain unlimited storage whether it be a reduction in the quality or an older model phone. While it won't kill me to switch platform, I've got 5+ years of photos and videos on here backed up and most of them separated into their own respected categories/albums so I would like the ask the people that are smarter than I am:
Is it possible to either spoof something like BlueStacks into thinking that my device is a google pixel and upload them through there? or maybe a modified version of the app that believes the device it's on is a Pixel? From the little bit of research that I've done, the link between being able to upload as much as you want or not isn't within the email itself, it's simply the device that Photos is run on. Be nice. all input is welcome though, via more speculations, links to other workarounds, where to put this, etc.
It's possible I think. A friend did this to get Pixel 2 unlimited original quality storage back in the day. I think it involves rooting and editing build.props to make it look like your phone is a Pixel. There are apps that do that in rooted phones afaik.

just install Lineage OS custom rom on your phone (if it's supported) and then in the settings menu, it does have the option of spoofing photos app into thinking that you're on a pixel device.

Wow, I actually forgot about this post. Funnily enough, now I'm on a rooted Google Pixel 6. It seems like after the 5 they got rid unlimited storage but give me the paid features of Google Photos for free. Would the LineageOS still work? And is that a straightforward change or is there a lot of backend stuff that needs done?
I purchased a first gen Pixel phone for this purpose. That's as genuine as it can get. No need to spoof or do anything to make it work. I just transfer all the photos to the Pixel 1 and let it do its thing.
There are multiple methods of doing this. Most people recommend using Syncthing.
I use FTP Server on the Pixel 1 and FolderSync on my current phone. FolderSync transfers the entire folder so if you don't want that, there are also apps like PhotoSync that can pick and choose specific photos/videos you want to transfer.

After the last comment, I dug around a bit more and I've found a solution (for rooted devices) Pixelify in the LSexposed framework I believe? Installing this allows me to essentially spoof the device I have to trick Google Photos into thinking I have any device from the Pixel 1 to the 6A. I have it set for the 5 and it's been working great. Only allows reduced quality to be unlimited but better than nothing (unless an older one allows unlimited full quality?)

It spoofed my Pixel 5 as Pixel 6 (you mentioned that it can spoof to anything between 1 to 6 but at the time of my usage, it only spoofed to Pixel 6) and I didn't like my device showing up as 6. If I needed to reset and restore from a backup, my newly reset phone will show up in the system as Pixel 5, meanwhile my backups will be under Pixel 6 so it won't restore. I know there are root backup apps like Swift Backup but it was just too much hassle.

I'm sorry, I can't give you much help. I happened to already have a Pixel 6 not that I'm sure it does anything. Aside from that I just installed the latest app and there was a drop down with all the options there for me and I haven't noticed any space being taken, it also tells me that original quality is being backed up and doesn't even allow me to choose lower quality
