Hello, this is the first thread I write on XDA.
Ok, let's get to the point.
I think I'm not the only one waiting for MIUI 12 with great excitement. Since it brings several long-awaited news such as:
•Forced Dark Mode in all apps
•Window mode in all apps
•Increased security, privacy and stability
•Live Caption
So far so good. But there is a single and big problem: The update has not yet arrived.
And so I make this thread. Below I will update where it has been updated and what version of Android (In case MIUI 12 arrives but without Android 10)
Forgive me if I didn't put a table but this is my first thread
It should be noted that I wrote this on August 29 from Mexico at 12:00 PM (Approximately) And yet I have not received the update, comment below if something has reached you and from what country.
[Only redmi note 8]
Here is the "table" that I will update with what they tell me
Country MIUI Version Android Version
Mexico Global 11.0.9.0 (PCOMIXM) 9.0
If your bootloader is unlocked you can install MIUI 12 in this moment. You have a beta and a stable version, i recommend the beta version(new updates every Friday). You can download beta ROM here:
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/20-8-25-27-28.57185/
You can download stable rom here:
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/miui-12-0-stable-release.56191/
Android version is 10, MIUI 12.
I'm on the latest release of xiaomi.eu (beta). Really too good!
i think the OTA android 10 miui 12 is expected next month
For me personally I do not understand why must come Android 10 and miui 12 together and why they dont give us Separately the Android 10 first and some time later the give us the miui 12 version my cousin with Redmi Note 7 got Android 10 with miui 11 it is so difficult? correct me if I'm wrong but the upgrade to Android 10 it's stuck on miui 12 bugs...
MIUI 12
Just used TWRP to install 12.0.2(QGGMIXM) AV 10 QPIA.190711.020. Whenever I start adding google accounts, etc., the system boot loops to recovery. Still trying features, without loading GAPPS. My phone is a global version.
I Saw that they are pushing to release android 10 for all the rest of the not 10 devices in october

IST 12:25 pm: According to a Xiaomi support executive, the MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 8 has been released in batches. However, there are no actual user reports to be found.
today i received 11. 0.11 update, it's still android 9 miui 11, very disappointing, thinking to flash a custom rom but I'm confused between havocOs and lineage
if anyone tried both plz give a suggestion, not a gamer just want a stable bug free rom with longer sot
IST 03:23 pm: Based on information from an official post, it appears that the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8T will get the stable MIUI 12 update in October itself alongside a few other models
Not long now.. hopefully
Forget about miui 12. You have three options
1) flash the EU miui 12 ROM( this is great because it doesn't carry ads)
2) flash a custom android 10 rom, like paranoid Android maybe, many more examples
3) since android 11 is out now, and redmi note 8 is not getting it officially, flash an android 11 custom rom like extended UI 2.0, its stable enough for daily use to some extent.

Писали, что обновление до MIUI 12 для Redmi Note 8 будут с 8 по 10 октября. Но опять обманули или это был просто фейк. Политика Xiaomi в отношении обновлений своих продуктов очень странная.

Not sure where you got the date from as on the official Mi Community forum the ineffectual mods continually say that Xiaomi/Redmi never issue release dates.
I gave up as well some weeks ago :good:

Why it won't get android 11?
They have said the note 8/8t won't get android 11
A lot of mixed information so far. From one source I heard that the plan is to release MIUI 12 for 8T in late October first. From other source, I heard the update is generally set to come for November/December as Xiaomi is probably not making it to the release window in October at all. So any news you hear - take them with a pinch of salt.
I'll probably wait until end of the year, and if they still fail to make it by then - Custom ROM time it is.

yes you will get miui 12 and 13 but no android 11, this is old policy by xiaomi, redmi phones get only one android upgrade
I opted in for Beta 12,received and downloaded, then opted out, back to android 11.Following the links on downloading beta 3 from XDA,the phone won't install said beta and reboots back to 11?
Color OS has already come up with customization and better looks. After the last Color OS version - Color OS 11, The Color OS 12 was launched in China a few days ago. However, this time it has been officially announced that The Colour OS 12 will be launched globally on October 11. Although it is Android 11 besed, the update will be given later for Android 12
Yes, as you can see it's based on Android 12.
There used to be an early Alpha version that was still based on Android 11.
But the current beta isn't anymore.
[Thread Locked] This discussion already exists here: Testing ColorOS 12, any questions?
I got the RM Note 10 Pro when it was brandnew and just wanted a stable custom rom. I installed and used Arrow OS with Android 11 and was satisfied with it. But then the team and apparently all the other teams stopped supporting and updating those roms and moved on to Android 12 projects. So like 2 month ago I moved on to Lineage 12.1 so I could have a rom that keeps getting updates and support. I don't really like changing roms and transferring everything to the phone that I had before and having to figure out certain things that work differently on the new versions. Now I am seeing Android 13 roms popping out in the forums and I am concerned that thosed based on Android 12 will also stop getting updates and support and force me to change to a Rom with 13. Will the 12 roms keep getting updates at least for a while longer? I would prefer staying on 12.1 for a while

When Xiaomi stops updating an android version, developers must also follow to continue the development of their rom.
Nothing prevents you from staying in A12, security will be and will remain on the date of the last rom in A12.
Xiaomi for some time has preferred to sell phones rather than provide bug-free roms before moving on to another newer android version.
For example, the beta stables are updated via OTA but it is just indicated Stable on the phone, moreover for some phones the beta stables are just renamed stable later when it is exactly the same rom without bug fixes.
For me the A12 Aosp roms are crude and ugly only reason that makes me stay on MIUI but I am from the old school.

The right answer for this is: depends on the resources that community have to preserve the older build. I'm talking about people and hardware. If there's none, they have to move forward to newer one and ditch the older. Why Lineage could support several versions android because they have resources to do so. Most don't have that luxury.
Yes, most custom Android 12 ROMs should be abandoned in the next 2-3 months. Some devs may keep updating 12 if they aren't confident in 13, but that's a bit rare. If you are on a stable Android ROM, stick with that for a year or so even if it means no updates. I plan to upgrade to Android 12 now, have been on Android 11, and when Android 14 comes out, I'll upgrade to Android 13. You might be able to do an in-place upgrade to Android 13 rather than clean installing, if you are lucky.

I am on the same boat. Was running LOS 18.1 happily on Oneplus. Then purchased Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro and sh*t started. No official Lineage so started research. Found Arrow to be close. Official and vanilla.
The A11 development was already gone so went with A12 as a future proof option (as I thought). They killed it quick and went 12L. I flashed A12L but after a short while they quit that and went A13. I did not even started to think about swap and they are at A13.1 that I read have bugs.
I wish that development power went in the same direction but no, there are tons of custom ROMs for 'sweet' but I couldn't find stable and polished one. Started to regret that I got a device that is not supported by LOS.
When I got my Note 10 pro last year, I also wanted a device with LineageOS support. But this was the best hardware I could find inexpensively that seemed like it had a lot of development interest, so it's what I went with.
I tried some custom ROMs when I first got it, but was disappointed and went with xiaomi.eu for a long time instead. It's only recently that LineageOS has become available, though it's not official.
Which is the best in performance, battery, stability for the Redmi Note 10 pro? 12, 12L or 13?
I come from Miui and wanted to try AOSP roms, what do you advise me?
I seek balance between performance and customization.
I wanted to know advantages and disadvantages of each one.
Thanks in advance.

Android 13 is pretty good, though I like 12/12L because of MIUI cam being ported to those ROMs
Personnaly, I'm always looking to the future. That's why I prefer use Android 13.
I used crDroid 8 (A12) for months as daily driver and it was working fine, except mic problems in the beginning.
Since no A13 version of crDroid is announced to date or in development and I wanted to migrate to A13, I searched something else.
I’m now using ProjectElixir 3.2 (Android 13) as daily driver.
Why ?
It's the third rom A13 I found on XDA with Arrows and Evolution a few time after the last Google’s release.
I installed and tested those 3 roms and I decided to remain using ProjectElixir.
It's just a question of personal taste.
In any case I will not come back to A12 because each new version of Android contains novelties.
And further I will not spend time trying all existing roms.
My phone is the Redmi Note 10 Pro.

Question, will you ever miss the ported MIUI cam from the Android 12/12L ROMs?

Yes, of course.
MIUI cam is missing for now in the dozen of A13 roms existing for my device.
I'm using Gcam 8.6 which is working fine.

Unless you have big requirements (if you don't have a camera, ...), Gcam is enough for me.
Have a nice day.
