Question Android 12 OneUI 4.0 Issues - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

I'm receiving pop-up notifications at least once a day from Samsung prompting me to update to Android 12 OneUI 4.0 which can't be disable in the Notification Panel. I have a few questions for user's who've installed the update.
1 Did the update lock your bootloader?
2 Did a Factory Reset enable you to restore to a stable version of Android 11 OneUI 3.1?
3 Did the update cause any number of new bugs?
4 Is there a workaround to disable the Update Notifications?
5 Is anyone's device bug free after updating?
6 After updating have you received any
Update Notifications to install OneUI 4.1?
Needless to say I'm very skeptical of the update since it's causing a wide variety of issues on different devices. Will appreciate any input you may have!

1. If you're rooted, it is safe to assume that your bootloader will be locked as this is an official ROM, it comes with updated bootloader.
2. I believe this is dependent if the current SW version is the same. Otherwise, if it's lower, you won't be able to.
3. Im on May Update G9980. No major bugs as per day to day usage.
4. Not sure.
5. I personally haven't had any bugs.
6. Yes

Thanks for your input, since it's the May update I'm assuming you've updated to 4.1?

[Q] call forwarding fix?

I've been having an issues with call forwarding since FlashFire update to Android 5. When I attempt to change the settings, I receive an "ERROR Network or SIM Card Issue" message. I checked with ATT technical support and they say this is a known issue with the ATT 5.0 update and they will release a patch for it soon. Does anyone know if we here at XDA will get a flashable patch as well? Thanks!

It might be worth waiting for them to actually release the patch before you go asking if we'll get it, seeing as they have no idea what the patch will be there's no telling if you will.

Ha! Good point. Thread closed.
I think I'm going to flashfire the Alliance ROM since that's not specifically based on the ATT version, it may not have that issue.
Samsung Device Support says that the current OTA update to 5.1.1 (G890AUCU3BOJE) fixes this issue for some, but not all devices. Reportedly Google is working on a patch, but no release date is available at this time. For me the issue started when moving from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4. I'm currently on 5.0.0 and still have the issue, still debating about rolling the dice on a flash to 5.1.1 to see if I am one of the lucky ones. Until then, GSM feature codes can be used:

Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro! Help!!!

I recently bought this phone from a website that is from my country (Romania), not from China and i don't know if it has the latest firmware on it.It has Android 6.0.1 with android security patch level September 1,2016. If i check for updates,it doesn't find any. My baseband version is A9100ZCU1API2. What i'm trying to say is that i don't know if the guys from the website put on the phone a custom rom or not, because if they did there are chances that the phone will never receive software updates and that's my concern. For example, if i buy the phone from China, will it come with google services installed? Because my phone has google play store on it. I don't know if i should download the latest firmware from sammobile and install it with Odin, but the phone might have the bootloader locked or some other stuff and it can't install the firmware and i will be left with the phone bricked or stuck in dowload mode...What do you guys say, should i let it like this for a while and wait for android 7 maybe or it's fine to reinstall the firmware from sammobile? And if i reinstall the firmware will i have google services on it? Thank you!
If you have factory room, you should already got the notification about new FW, as API3 is ancient. I believe latest is AQB2 and Nougat room is in testing phase..
What's saying in Settings/About/SW info/Build number?

I attached a picture with my build number. My main question is if i can reinstall the firmware with odin and that i won't have any surprises...
It's newest build, and I believe it's factory default, so you'll get Nougat directly once it is out
SM-A9100
If i go to settings at the status device tab,it says Official....
I have one more question...Why i can't receive notifications from whatsapp,facebook/messenger, etc.... I think this is a problem on phones that come from China or don't have an international software support.... Is it because Google is not supported officialy on this kind of devices or what is the problem? Be for i got the A9, i had a Leeco Le Max 2 and it had the same problem with the notifications
You need to disable power optimization for these apps, this option pops up from time to time, or you can find it in smart manager, under power options or something. Can not give you exact location as we don't have same SW versions
SM-A9100
I don't have that option...i know what are you talking about but i can't find apps optimisation...
Hi Scrapperr,
Sorry to see you're having trouble with such a great phone
I've had the same issue you're describing - the software looks 'untouched' and 'legit' - but it's not, it has been tampered with, just check your Knox counter and you'll see what I mean (https://androidforums.com/threads/guide-how-to-check-knox-and-samsung-official-status.874951/).
App optimization is hidden in Settings / Battery / Detail - once you have the apps listed, select the app that has issues with Notification and go with 'App power saving' - 'Turned off'.
It probably won't work - unfortunately.
I ended up using t'shock's ROM - https://forum.xda-developers.com/samsung-a-series/development/rom-basicplus-1-t3587455 (BasicPlus) - very stable, good battery life, notifications working , but you might have issues with the SD cards - does not recognize cards larger than 32 GB and you might need to format them, in order to be usable with the phone.
If you go with the newest ROM available - listed on https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-a9--/SM-A9100/, you'll notice it does not have Play Store / Play Services and then you'll have to read https://forum.xda-developers.com/samsung-a-series/help/galaxy-a9-pro-chinese-how-to-install-t3388126
Good luck and enjoy using your phone
Hey, Megaurs, thanks for this light stock Rom proposal, somehow I missed it.
Just 2 questions, did you maybe tried Tungtata Rom in order to compare these 2, and what would be advantages of Basic room vs.Tungtata
And, if this Basic room is QB3, isn't it based on latest stock available?
SM-A9100
Hi Djurkash,
Testing Tungtata is on my ToDo list, will get to it eventually - if you get to try it, please share your experience
You're right, QB3 is the latest release, as per sammobile.com.
Cheers

Official OTA update to Pie problems

I’m in Canada with the P20 Pro on the Bell network, expecting an official OTA update to Pie any day now. With all the recent politics between Huawei and Canada, my concern is the *slight* chance that one of the ways which Huawei could retaliate against us, could be by not pushing any future OTA EMUI/security updates to phones in Canada, or at worst, remotely disabling phone functionality (although they likely have more significant ways to “retaliate” then going after low-level phones).
I want to be sure that if I accept the official OTA Pie update, and this happens, I would still be able to manually flash the latest versions of EMUI from other regions, or other ROM’s.
I’ve read a lot about issues with people updating to Pie and not being able to unlock the bootloader, “enable OEM lock” being greyed out, FRP being locked, not safely being able to perform a factory reset, etc.
Am I safer not allowing the OTA Pie update, or are all these issues related to beta releases and unofficial flashing.
Thanks!!

I don't think they will do that. After all it's government against government and consumer has nothing to do with it. In the end if u bought the p20 pro it's because u like it and like the brand so it won't be the right move for them to do that.
Maybe in another way but not to the point disabling anything in the phone. That move would be very low for a company that big....

It's your call if you want to update or not, but the things you have mentioned are all "features" of newer Huawei phones. They no longer have a desire to produce phones who can be rooted, flashed with alternative firmwares etc. If you update you may, or may not, encounter some of these issues depending upon your phone usage and preferences.
Thanks for the replies!
Just to be clear, I am very pleased with the phone - the OS, the features, and the hardware are all fantastic! When I bought the phone, I had no interest in rooting the phone, and I still don't. In fact, I'm one of the ones who kept hitting "check for updates" all day long yesterday (supposed release date) because I'm pumped to get the official OTA Pie download! The only reason I would want to root the phone is if Huawei decides to no longer provide future updates in Canada. From what I've been reading, I just want to confirm that if I accept the official Pie OTA, that I would have the option of doing whatever I need to do to flash future official updates from another Country, to be able to keep up with security patches and updated features.
So if I do the official OTA Pie update once it becomes available and Huawei decides to discontinue further updates in Canada (which is probably unlikely), will this be a viable backup plan to keep the phone up to date?
Thanks again!
Hi, after 9.0 update, some apps won't open. I tried checking all permissilm and allowed it but still wont open. It will pop for a few seconds then kicks me out after awhile. Can someone help?
What really annoys me is that I am not able to record the phone calls anymore after I've updated to Pie. This sucks!

Emui 9 sucks
Hi guys, I also use the Huawei p20 pro. Since yesterday I was happy with Huawei but Emui 9.0 update is really annoying. I don't know why but some Apps don't work anymore. For example the German football streaming app DAZN doesn't work. Many games have lag and the system as it is doesn't work well. I already cleaned partition in reboot menu. And I deleted cache but nothing helps. I need help! :crying:

Emui 9 is great. Your apps are not made for emui 9,that's why you have problems with them. Also, after a major upgrade you should reset the phone to factory settings. Do a backup to your photos, contacts, etc. NOT APPS...for those,do a clean install, and look for latest versions.

Same in your case...your apps are not compatible...do a backup of your stuff, reset and a clean install of all apps.

As far as I know,it's because of legal issues, they removed the option since Pie...and it's not only Huawei.

Should I stay or should i go ? (not The Clash but android 8 vs 9)

Hello, my Galaxy note 8 N950F with android 8 insistently asks me to install version 9 but I understood that my phone registration application will not work anymore and for my work I really got used to use for years.
Is it better to stay in 8 or is it possible to unlock this function in version 9 ?
If I have to stay in 8 how to prevent the update ? He asks me to install it several times a day and it will end up installing it all alone, and at the same time I have the impression that the battery is emptying much faster since there is this update waiting...
Is it possible to root version 9 knowing that I am in France on the Orange network and that I speak bad English (google translation) and I need clear explanation ! I understood that rooter version 9 would allow me to use the recording ...
Thank you
You don't need root .if you keep delaying the update promt up to 9 times then it will auto install.what I did was buy bk package disabler and disabled all updates that stopped my phone keep on promoting me to update to that ****ty one ui rubbish
exactly so
thanks, i found packagedisabler that looks the same and gives me a big list of application to uninstall. What is the name of the application that wants to force me to update android?

Thank you !
I found the equivalent in French and this damn notification has disappeared ...
Do you know where is the file of the update, because there must be some GB blocked because of it.
I would update to Pie especially if you use any mobile banking apps on your device. As it will have all the latest security patches
if you use sbrowser it lost the on screen brightness and volume controls plus video scrubbing (ff & rew) is gone now it stops and skips

Android 11 is on the way...

Hi everybody!
As you all know, stable Android 11 is actually rolling out on Taiwanese versions of the Rog Phone 3!! The Taiwanese version is available for download on their website!
Can somebody tell if we can download this update all around the world (as the Taiwanese version is also WW) and install it safely on another WW Rog Phone 3 (here in Belgium) or we have to wait for OTA or official availability in our country???
Thanks for answers and have a nice day!!!
You can download it, I'm already using it on ww device

Not too sure about this but yes some vpn's aren't working.
Always use the latest version, no matter what. People complain that it drains the battery faster, while others complain that some apps are not supported.
Whenever a newer version is updated, all the apps, battery functions, and other things get updated accordingly. You cannot expect a quick update from others when the new operating system is updated.
