I have spend 5 full working days to get root on my OnePlus Nord CE 5G, and have heard several times asking arround, it is the hardest OnePlus phone to root. So I decided to write a short manual to help anybody else.
I used this method:
https://magiskapp.com/root-oneplus-nord-ce-5g-using-magisk/
Where I changed tactics is how to get the boot.img The problem is with this phone is that you are not able to find the same version that your phone comes with, giving a version mismatch with the modem drivers, so making wifi not work, and multiple small problems with your 4G 5G connections and phonecalls.
https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-get-boot-img-from-an-Android-phone
I used TWRP to start a terminal to run those commands locally on the phone, rebooted the device and run Magisk , and then downloaded the patched Boot.img and flashed it via fastboot.
Sounds easy right? it is if you know
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for this post. It was helpful during rooting my oneplus nord ce with oos12 and i would like to give you a tip for boot.img. As you mentioned there was a model name change for me during oos11 to oos12 and the device code changed from eb2103 to eb2101(which helped me to find my device is indian variant). Anyway, , couldn't found an official or unofficial twrp recovery for oos12 so i didn't prooced with the twrp on web to prevent bricking device since i got no warranty. I head to oneplus website to download full rom but thanks to my luck the websites was down so i found that i can download full rom using oxygen updater(can be found in play store). After i finish downloading full rom, i extracted boot image using payload dumper and patched it with magisk app. Voila! now i have root on my nord ce oos12. This huge effort is needed just to enable volte on oos12 because after i upgrade to oos12, my volte switch was gone and that made phone calls unstable.
Anyway thanks again for enlighting the path @pimzwager

Hi guys ! I have my k20 pro from 2019 and I never had access to any apps like netflix or mcdonals cause of some insecure software idrk to be honest. Anyways I want to use nfc and I actually can't . Did some research and just found out about eu rom might work but I'm new to this type of things and I need some help to flash the new rom and where to get it from .
These are some phone specs :
I have raphaelin ( aida64 )
K20pro 64 gb rom and 6gb ram
MIUI 12.0.5 Stable - Global rom
Model : M1903F11A
Kernel vers : 4. 14.117-perf-g97c1088
If someone can help I will be more than thankful !
My bootloader is unlocked btw but I don't have TWRP
where did u purchase your k20 pro from.
In India only 6-128 and 8-256 variants are there not 6-64 and also indian variant or model has no nfc.
As per phone codename raphaelin is indian device codename but how come u have 6-64gb model.
It doesn't matter whichever rom u install if ur device doesn't have nfc hardware it won't work and indian model has no nfc support...
I already found out it's 100% percent a Chinese device flashed with India rom. Now I need help to change it
OK, so just to clarify things to avoid future confusion.
Xiaomi label any MIUI version that is not Chinese as 'Global'. This is when you look in the about phone section and see MIUI x.y.z Global ROM. However this description covers 4 separate versions - India, EU/EEA, Russia and everywhere else (true Global).
In order to change region you need to flash the appropriate fastboot ROM. This is the official guide to flashing fastboot ROMs.
https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=2
You will need to view the page in desktop mode on a mobile device, otherwise you'll just see a blank page.
The guide has download links for the latest versions for all devices, however it's probably easiest to find the ROM you want from here
Xiaomi Firmware Updater
The ultimate script that provides firmware packages for Xiaomi devices.
xiaomifirmwareupdater.com
Select the EEA fastboot ROM.
WARNING
You can not lock the bootloader of a Chinese phone when flashing a non-Chinese ROM. Trying to do this will hard brick the phone. See this from the official forums.
https://c.mi.com/thread-2584760-1-0.html
WARNING
The Mi Flash Tool default flashing option is to flash the ROM and lock the bootloader. If you do not pay attention when flashing you could easily hard brick the phone.
The Mi Flash Tool runs batch scripts contained in the ROM to flash the ROM. The easiest way to avoid bricking the phone is to manually delete the batch script from the ROM before running the tool.
In order to flash the fastboot ROM, it needs to be fully extracted. After extracting it browse the contents of the extracted folder. You'll see a bunch of .bat and .sh files.
Delete the flash-all-lock.bat and flash-all-lock.sh files before doing anything else. (Names of the files might not be exact but you'll know which ones I mean when you see them).
When running the Mi Flash Tool, before hitting the flash button, change the option at the bottom of the app to 'clean all'. If you leave it on the default option and you've deleted the batch scripts above then you'll only get an error that it can't find the batch file.
So now after updating to the EU ROM, you'll have NFC working, but you are still going to have a bunch of issues with financial and tap to pay apps. The security problems you've seen so far have not been around insecure software, but because the bootloader is unlocked, and this is still going to cause you problems. There is something called the SafetyNet test, within android, which fails when run on phones with an unlocked bootloader. Apps that care about security will call the test and fail to run if it fails. To get around these issues you will need to install Magisk. Currently Magisk can spoof the test to give a positive result.
You'll also need to setup Magisk to hide itself from apps that perform security checks before launching, such as financial apps.
Only download Magisk from the official source.

Hi
pretty much what the title says - I need to download the stock ROM for my new OnePlus Nord CE 5G, so I can patch it with Magisk, I went looking for it and couldn't find it.
Does anyone know where it is made available by OnePlus?
Thanks!
you should wait a day or two, there doesn't seem to be anything aside from bad websites with questionable content
Ok, thanks.
I guess this is the official place, right?
OnePlus Support Softwareupgrade - OnePlus (United States)
support softwareupgrade
www.oneplus.com
but the Nord CE isn't there yet. I really hope it only takes "a day or two" like you mentioned, I don't have much use for the phone before I can restore my Titanium Backup on it, and for that I need root, and for that I need Magisk, and for that I need the stock ROM download
welp the day or two wasnt meant literally
it might take a long time lmao
and yes that looks like the official
Hey! Congrats on the new device! I bought it too!
https://www.oneplus.in/support/softwareupgrade
This is the official oneplus link to download software but for some reason the nord CE isn't listed on there. I wanted the latest update too because there were some bugs in my device which were installation errors mostly. They were fixed with the OTA released a few days ago. My advice is stick around and post on the oneplus community forums since it's much more device-centric.
Thanks

Yes. Same issue. Had to download Nova launcher for a workaround, until they sort it out. I wonder if this is the quality software integration with OPPO they were talking about!

Damn, my package is only 146MB, so I guess it can't be a full package, it's just an incremental update... so I can't use for patching Magisk...
I'm angry at OnePlus for not releasing the Nord CE 5G Stock ROMs, why do they have to make this more difficult than it already is?
I literally only switched from Samsung to OnePlus because it was supposed to be more root-friendly...

Thanks, I didn't know about that app! Cool.
Downloading 2.72 GB now...
Tip for anybody not familiar with the app: you have to go into Settings, turn on Advanced Mode, to get it to allow you to download a full update even if your phone is already up to date.
Hooray !
I just successfully rooted my OnePlus Nord CE 5G!
I used the method that @sanangel recommended above.
Essentially it involves:
- an unlocked bootloader (I had done that on the first day I received the phone, to avoid losing data later)
- getting a full OTA package (I got this using Oxygen Updater app recommended above)
- use Payload Dumper python script to unpack that
- move boot.img to the phone and use Magisk Manager app to patch it there
- move the patched boot.img back to PC and use fastboot to boot from it
- inside that temporary boot, use Magisk to execute a direct install
Thanks to all for their help!

I'm glad to read that everything went well.
Any Unbrick Solutions......?
Hey folks,
I'm in a bit of a limbo atm. Got a brand new Nord CE that came with 11.0.9.9 (EU) and the system side updater doesn't offer 11.0.11.11 yet. Since I want to root before actually starting to use it I'd need a payload.bin for version 9.9 to patch the boot.img with Magisk, but from all I can find here and on the rest of the net there never was a full OTA release for the EU version of that update.
And using the 11.11 boot.img with Magisk just "soft-bricks" the system, either leading to an endless reboot loop, or when it sometimes boots into the system it's half broken and a lot of stuff including wifi doesn't work...
So the big question is: can I somehow install 11.11 manually? Already tried with Fastboot Enhance, but when I set the phone to fastboot mode FE complains about unknown partitions, and in fastbootd mode I can't find any fitting driver. Already tried the qualcomm driver package that was mentioned in one thread, but other than setting my Win10 installation into test mode it didn't change anything...
edit: ugh... ok, sorry that I completely overlooked that 11.11 was officially released not even a week ago. Kind of understandable that the OTA isn't offered on the system updater yet then, guess google takes some time until they offer it to everyone. But my question still stands: any way to install the OTA before the system updater offers it? Does anyone have a working driver for fastbootd mode? Would flashing TWRP be an option? I've used it before on my older phones, but only because it was necessary for rooting, not optional as with the Nord CE.

If flashing/rooting errors out, and you end up in Qualcomm Crash Dump Mode, please perform the following:
Restart into Fastboot Mode by holding Volume Down + Power buttons until the device vibrates, then release only the power button
Once in Fastboot mode, try flashing a clean boot and recovery to BOTH slots like this :
fastboot flash boot_a boot.img
fastboot flash boot_b boot.img
fastboot flash recovery_a recovery.img
fastboot flash recovery_b recovery.img
Follow the steps on this site to Flash the stock ROM above using the Fastboot Enhance Tool
https://www.droidwin.com/flash-stoc...-brick/#STEP_1_Download_Fastboot_Enhance_Tool
Feel free to download Fastboot Enhance Tool.zip (backup location)
If you have trouble rebooting to FastbootD (Recovery)
Try swapping Active slots from the application (typically slot A worked for me)
Choose reboot to FastbootD
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but is this to be used when the OP 10 Pro is ALREADY on OS 13, or is this to be used when the unit is on OS 12 (not yet rooted) and you want to take it to OS 13?
Thanks for your help.
Either or would be fine.
It's an upgrade using a full OTA update.

Can you use ADB tools to restore stock rom if the device was soft bricked?
No. There are a few unbricking tools I've had to use in the past such as MSM tool, Fastboot Enhance Tool, and payload Dumper. (Google them, they're easy to find)
Note, that MSM tools are (nowadays) typically created and coded with a specific device and may also require authentication to unlock.
I've since moved on to the Google Pixel Pro series after seeing the terrible "Franekstien Project" that Oppo applied to Oneplus in their Color OS "make files"... It's literally a "lucky" mash-up of OnePlus Legacy OS and Oppo.
When companies sell out like that, do lazy transitions, etc. and the core reason we supported them in the first place becomes both forgotten and obsolete, that's when I typically stop supporting them.

Yes it does.
Fastboot enhance works fine, you need to remove the cow files first and have a valid payload.bin but that's it
I've Been searching and haven't been able to find any threads on How to Root my OnePlus 10 Pro NE2210. I've seen threads on how to for the 13, and 15 variants but unfortunately not the 10. Hoping someone can be kind enough to guide me the right way. Thanks in advance.. Bless..!! P.S Ive been dealing with OnePlus devices ever since the 3T, However, a lot has changed ever since OPPO has taken over. I already Purchased the device and i should be reciving it within the next few day and am hoping to have all the files ready to at least unlock the bootloader and root it... I Currently have the OnePlus 8 Pro IN2025 and its very easy to add TWRP plus custom roms. What frightens me most is not having MSM tool incase i brick the device. Will Appreciate ANY Help.
Rooting is the same, I'd personally suggest against using TWRP on this phone as it offers little to no benefit if you're doing things properly. Just boot a patched boot image for whatever matching firmware you're on, it does not have to be same region to BOOT the patched image and do a direct install via Magisk. It's the pretty universal method for this device.
Have you checked out and read the "how to guides" ...?
Read the OP, in your case follow the part called
1st then root using method 1 (booting)
(Guide) Rooting, payload dumper, magisk_patched guides NE2213
Hi all, Thought i'd share a guide on how to get these boot images yourself as well as all the files required, plus the patched boot.img if you just want to go ahead and boot/flash it without obtaining one yourself Please read the process before...

Bare in mind that this guide is for the NE2213 so don't use the boot images uploaded there, follow the 1ST part to extract and patch your own image then
Method 1 to root.
Very simple.
