Broken display how to recover files? - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello, i broke my P20 Pro display, now everything is black. Tried to output on monitor with an Dell docking station and screen is dark grey. I tried with a P30 Pro of a friend and it is also grey until i confirm on the screen, but only if the phone is unlocked. On my phone i do not think that the fingerprint scanner works anymore (no physical damage).
Can someone try with a type-c to hdmi cable if it outputs on monitor without confirmation?
I have the latest firmware and ADB debugging disabled (i forgot to enable it when i could still see something on display, now is all black)
Previously i had another P20 Pro that i broke the screen but on that firmware i got to the PIn lockscreen
Thank YOU!

Solved, no confirmation on P20 Pro, just blind pin entry

Xiaomi Redmi 4x Display stopped working

Hello,
my Redmi 4x display stopped working after I had it in my back pocket whilst riding my bike. Display did still work but I couldn't use it anymore. Now I changed the display unit but the problem is still there, display lights up and shows me my background but then I can't use it. Also when I go to recovery mode I cant select anything and there is chinese and a lot of times the word fail.
Uploaded a picture of it here: ibb.co/fHTVPW9
Thanks in advance for any help.
Greetings
Alex
Did you test new replacement display before installing it, if it is working properly? it could be faulty display or maybe loose connection of digitizer flex cable.

K20 pro display replaced. Screen not getting unlocked

Hi All,
I broke my my Redmi K20 pro display and have replaced it.
With the broken display, all was working except the display. i.e., phone would ring on calls, vibrate, notifications would ring, battery charging did sound. So, assuming that nothing else was damaged.
After display replacement, the screen doesn't get unlocked.
Phone boots properly and asks for pattern/fingerprint. Does not recognise fingerprint and on entering the correct pattern, the screen unlocks for a micro-second and then turns black and then the purple MIUI logo shows and the screen returns to locked state.
Phone performs all functions that can be done from locked screen.
Is the new display being not recognised by the phone OS?
Any assistance would be great.
Thanks a lot in advance.

No, the phone is not formatted. It is using the same ROM as bought.
Try a clean install with backed up data.

If the phone displays boot logo and animations and lockscreen, then that suggests the display is OK.
What you describe actually sounds like the recent wallpaper bug, where a wallpaper image is set, but the image has a colour space not recognised by the OS. Try booting to recovery and doing a factory reset (I'm assuming MIUI recovery gives this option, I can't remember if it does or not)

Hi, were you able to fix this problem?
Yes. I'm currently using the same device.
Kept on unlocking the screen using pattern. Fingerprint recognition puts the device in the reboot sequence. So now I only use pattern unlock.
I tried unlocking about 100 times and then this one time the phone behaved and remained unlocked.
It was like training my pet... lol
All the best.

Broken screen, can't unlock

Hello,
My friend gave me a phone, to recover photos from it. It has broken screen and I can see only 3/4 of the screen, but the problem is, that it has ghost touches, so I can't even unlock it. The phone has locked bootloader, disabled USB debugging and no root. I can only disassembly it. My idea was to connect monitor or TV through hdmi adapter and disable touch screen from phone, but I don't have the adapter. Do you have any ideas to recover photos from it?

Broken Display & half Touchscreen - How can I backup my files?

Hello there,
So a friend of mine Just bring me a dead Huawei P20 Pro. So the Display is completely dead and only shows a Black screen , the Touchscreen only works on one third of the right side. USB-Debugging is disabled , HiSuite is not setup.
We tried to get the files via : HiSuite , adb commands and phone-to-phone connection (to an Galaxy s20 ultra).
My last hope was to try it out with an USB-C Hub , a keyboard&mouse combination and an HDMI output.
When i plug it in , my TV shows the Huawei Logo and then a lockscreen. If i press enter or click with the mouse the screen goes black immediately.
I also tried an OTG direct to the mouse and blindly find the pattern but without any results...
So does anyone Has any other option?
It is an Huawei P20 Pro with the newest Update and its locked via a pattern.
Gz and thank you Rig
hi, did you manage to solve this? i have the same problem with P30... same Huawei boot logo and grey lockscreen with clock, date & lock icon only...
same thing happens when i press space or enter (black screen) - i assume it requires a pattern unlock to be done, but i don't know how to do it because it's not visible (i guess you have to guess the position somehow )
