Hi,
Since i got my oneplus 10 pro, i have as many others been searching for a MSM tool for our device, but has been unable to locate one. The best and closest thing i found was a site that apparently had MSM tool for every region, but the rar file needed a password to extract so it was of no use. Until today. I checked the same site and for some reason the password was now shown on the site, so i downladed NE2213GDPR_11_A.10_2022022602530000 and it worked!
All files are present but the MSM tool need login though, but maybe we can find a way to get around this?
The OFP file is present and my understanding is that this is the file that contains the firmware MSM tool uses to flash via edl, so maybe we can get a "cracked" msm tool/exe that dosent need login?
The site is: {Mod edit. Oswald Boelcke}
It isn't possible to work around this new situation because the Sahara protocol used to communicate with the device has changed. My understanding is that the old software wouldn't work even if the ROM was repackaged into another device's MSM Tool.
It seems that from now on, MSM Tool requires a technician to flash, leaks are no good because it also seems like there is a token generation happening which means that even if the credentials leak, it won't do any good.
Maybe someone can disassemble the MSM Tool EXE itself and find a way to bypass/patch out the login requirement but I would think that they would have tried to protect against this too.
you want to try use the oppo/realme ofp flash tools. I was researching this before, but gave up. oneplus is now part of oppo again, which is why it sucks.
try use this https://github.com/italorecife/OppoRealme-OFP-Flash/releases/
I tried loading the ofp file and the tool recognizes it

Cool!
But since the OFP flash program uses fastboot, wouldn't it be the same as using fastboot enhance, or script flashing through fastboot? Or is this maybe a safer alternative?

It's better to have 3 fastboot alternatives than none.
I mean, there's hope!
There is always a way to crack a tool, always, even Denuvo can be cracked, it's just a matter of will and ability.
That's not to say that it wouldn't seem impossible, every check in has a fall back option, including this tool, i'd say lets get it available to all and some exposure, then i'm sure progress can be made, even if it leads to something else.
In all fairness though the options that the other guys have mentioned all seem to be pretty robust, personally i've never needed anything other than recovery on the 10 pro so i've maybe been lucky. Would be good to get some actual proof of concepts from people who've been in sticky situations, what worked, what didn't and where do we stand now.
It'd be cool to see if this actually works, some of the bricked people try it lol

People who are truly bricked need an edl-mode tool, their devices don't get far enough to be able to use the OFP flasher. Either the MSM Tool needs to be cracked or the new Sahara protocol needs to be figured out and a tool developed to manually flash with.
Hmmmm. Didn't someone say it connected though?

The OFP flasher requires fastboot, can't work without it.
Oooooh. That makes sense
So if bootloader is locked, and phone is still locked ofp won't work even if I can access fastboot?

Here is the update that the test phones(4.0.19915 to 4.1.26) received right before the launch of the retail unit. You might think this is useless, but it paints a very clear picture of how Moto updates work on the Atrix.
For each file that is being updated it hash checks and then applies the binary patch. This means changing the file permissions, mounting the system as rw will not cause this to fail as someone else had mentioned before. When it comes time to update, we can extract it and run the patch against the retail dump to create an updated dump.
This also tells us we can use recovery to flash update.zip files, we just need to figure it out. This would be very helpful when creating an updated dump.
This file is downloaded to /cache/tmp. A simple script was used to capture it before it was deleted.
Download the file here:
http://www.ponack.net/designgears/atrix/update.7z
This is very good news.
does this also mean that an OTA can be packaged as a zip and "flashed" to a phone?

Hmmm, tried to flash it as an update.zip through recovery and signature check failed. I'm guessing since this was prior to release it was test signed? Had to try since I need something via RSD, Recovery, or Fastboot to get my phone up and running again.

I'm guessing with NVFlasher
Anyone else having issues getting the new T-Mobile 28k update to work? I have downloaded it from the official Google images site. When I try to flash through nrt it will not boot after its flashed just sits at goolge on the device. I've also tried flashing each file individually through fastboot and still same issue. It's like there isn't a system image being flashed even though I flashed one.. Any suggestions? I'm puzzled

I don't use the NRT, so can't comment on it.
When flashing using fastboot, what images did you flash? And were all successful? (If you flashed bootloader and/or radio, did you reboot bootloader after each of those?)
Did you flash cache.img? If not, flash the cache.img and see if that helps

I just finished flashing my phone to 28K with NRT. I was on 48M, unlocked it and flashed it to 28J and then flashed it to 28K using the image dowloaded from Google. I had the Force Flash option checked.
Sound more like you have a corrupted boot.img since it looping at the splash. Try fastboot a boot.img from a new or custom download. Have seen images corrupted on download.

Yea I finally got it I don't know what is going on I used fastboot adb and manually flashed about 30 times and still bootloop. I gave up on nrt. I like the tool for time saving but like I said it refused to flash with nrt and manual fastboot then all the sudden it worked. I downloaded the 28K factory images about 30 times as well. If it was corrupted it just finally decided to work. I've never had an issue like this in the past.

Don't want to sound to ignorant but could you explain to me how these boot.img get corrupted? I'm sure that's what it was because when NRT was checking the images and it said to verify the hash mdn and I copied the mdn from Google's official site and pasted it in the dialog box on nrt it said match the first time when I tried to flashed 28K then it failed. Then I tried again and put the same mdn in the dialog box and nrt said mismatch. So I'm confused as hell.

Usually when get a bad download you can't unzip it. When they put these images inside the zip the zip is good but don't mean the image is good. That is why they give you an MD5 with the download. Under normal conditions such as rom download can pretty much tell if download is bad cause can't access the file with 7zip ect. It is different with the zipped images. Any one image can be corrupt. but zip is good. I have had downloads with either/or/and system.img or boot.img was bad and all the others worked. Hope this makes sense. Lol

Skip the toolkits till understand how it works with manual fastboot. Will save a lot of head banging when you need to fastboot fix a toolkit fail. I have used toolkit to play with it. Had many fails and used fastboot to fix. If using toolkit never pick the lock bootloader option. Good way to brick the device.

Allow me to add an argument.
Manual fastboot requires command line input and the 'speed' is controlled by yourself.
Toolkits use scripts and you won't be fast enough to stop when you choose the wrong option.

timesaver toolkits are not, as things are quicker when done the right way. for example, it takes about 3 minutes to root your phone, if done the right way.
i tend to disagree on this one.
if the tool is made properly, all its doing is automating the commands and steps you would be using manually.
its not like its using a whole different method.
the tool could actually be better to use, if made properly, with Mfastboot. most users would use standard fastboot, instead of moto's fastboot, Mfastboot.

Our point is using tool kits doesn't help the learning process. We mostly believe that people should use fastboot manually to ensure they have a good set up and get accustomed to the commands.. This way, when they get in trouble and we have to help fix it, we don't have to teach them to use fastboot and set up their computer, we can go straight to helping resolve whatever actual issue they have - because tool kits cannot always help them.

your first line. toolkits does help the learning process. with that i disagree 1000000%. why? because the tool kits dont go through and explain each process to the user. they tend not to explain anything actually.
---------- Post added at 03:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:42 PM ----------
ok, toolkits.. they do work usually(every once in a while they do mess up). problem is with new users. toolkits dont teach them anything, not even basics, in case they mess up(and they do). by going through the rooting process the first time, properly, instead of toolkit, the user gets to learn the basics of every android process. by knowing thise basics, the yser can fix 99.99% of issues that pop up. with a toolkit, you dont get to learn the basics. so i tell everyone that toolkits are fine, just do thd rooting one time manually, then use the toolkit whenever you want after that.

The easy way is simply learning how to flash images through fastboot, using the command "fastboot flash [partition] [image.img]". The lazy way is through using a toolkit like Wugfresh.

for me its more dangerous to use adb command , and for that reason is the developers create this tool to make it easy for us
plus you have a lot of options when you are brick or in normal mode

And when something goes wrong you come right back here asking for help. And when you tell people you used a one click method you find almost no help. If you don't know what you are doing with command lines then you really shouldn't be messing with your device.
There are very real risks. Even when using things like this.
@AJDA: On another thread a senior member asked me, incredulously, why I didn't push a toolkit. My answer was rather simple: the user needs to know how to use fastboot, as his next device may not have a toolkit available. On top of that, using fastboot is so easy the toolkits are ridiculous. Thus you have the easy way with fastboot and the lazy way with a toolkit.
For the record, the person asking for help in the first place on that other thread successfully used fastboot to restore his device. He learned something in the process and no longer needs a toolkit to do what everyone lately seems unable to accomplish without outside help.
The easy way is to use Wug's tool kit witch I highly recommended. However after you get you're phone back to normal you should really learn the fastboot method. It has saved my device's more time's than I can count, and is way more rewarding knowing you can do it yourself?
i have tried wugfresh toolkit to root yes it easy. but i tried restoring to stock image i keep failing & getting that error all over again and again, i tried 3x on the toolkit i cant get it to work. please help
And @zelendel's point is proven.

So, if your on a korean version that wil be a q version of android vulnerable. Therefore at step 6, you will need a pie kdz to flash those 4 xbl files. Do not make my mistake, you will get bricked ))

Sorry I'm afraid I don't understand. That's step 4, and you don't need to flash the whole kdz. Only the partitions the guide says to.

I think he's referring to how its a bit confusing how it says you should use android pie but also implies that you should use latest pre-march firmware, which for korean variant is actually android Q not pie so its little confusing which you should use, i could be wrong though, thanks alot for this guide though!

If someone can't deal with the level of instruction I provided here, I would very much advise against attempting it as it is inherently very risky. Probably not what anyone wants to here, but it is what it is
This is great news. Has anyone Tested using a LOS GSI or AOSP GSI? I am on verizon and have found with another phone that all GSIs on android version 9 and 10 have "No Sim Card" errors and you can not make calls or send texts (strangely you can receive both). This error wasn't seen with other network versions of the phone (palm phone). I am a little hesitant to go through this process to find out if data doesn't work on LOS 17 or AOSP 10. If anyone on verizon tries this out, please report back on how well the GSIs work, or if you find a specific ROM that works on Verizon.

I've used a lot of gsis like bless and caos (use those instead of aosp definitely). I haven't had any data issues

But I have a sprint model. I'm pretty sure Verizon people have tried it with no issues already though

Hi, thank you very much for this tutorial.
It was my mistake and got a permanent brick. It is true that the vulnerable firmware for kor is android Q and i have achieved root after downgrading to a older Q version. My problem was at step 4 because i used the q kdz and i did not download a separate pie kdz for that step.
Now i hope no one else will make my mistake since i really do not see how to get DL mode active or to switch slots without the USB. Only thing i got is the image that precedes the DL mode and the IMEI display. And since the USB is basically dead i think firehose (even if i had it) would not recover my phone.
I have flashed and unlock many phones and this is my first unrecoverable brick. My first LG though and probably the last.

I'm very sorry to hear that, but the firehose could almost definitely help you unbrick. I tried to clarify more that it has to be a pie kdz now, because before I just wrote "load your pie kdz" and you probably missed that. There should still be a warranty though, so you could try to use that if you'd like. It might say that yours expired on the website, but you can just click past it.

Thank you antintin for your reply. You bring me some hope. The warranty will not apply because it is stated clearly that any attempt to BL unlock will void it (I got it from a shop in Spain via Ebay).
But the firehose on the other hand.... When do you think it will be available? And how will i ba able to get it?
Thank you very much!

Other people who bricked while different bl unlock methods were tested sent it in for warranty with no issues. The firehose will be available in November at the earliest probably. Proof of purchase from eBay should be enough, but I don't if there's any lg repair centers in Spain that support phones.

Successfully rooted korean variant, thanks for the guide! I was wondering if its okay now to update to newest firmware via LGUP upgrade mode? (I really want the system wide accent color customization in newest firmware, among other things) I assume it should be but i really don't wanna have to redo all this so id rather just ask, thanks in advance!
I have been trying to learn on this and have overclocked the pixel 4xl screen to 120hz, although the touch screen/cameras dont work, it runs it.
I used the crb tool to unpack and edit the dts files with text editor and hex edits.
I have used another tool and it has dts source files (dts.src) on some of them? Editing these doesn't change nothing, but the other files are not readable in text format, and didn't know if it I'm doing it wrong.
Also a question I had was do the boot files need modified as well due to the drivers? I really like modding stuff and need a dumbed down tutorial or insight into this.

Unfortunately, I can't help you, though I have high hopes you get through your problems.
I am right now trying to force unlock the bootloader, for those that have a carried locked bootloader.
Anyway, let me know how it goes!

Thanks I appreciated it, and carrier locked? Some will unlock for you but if not, you might be able to use the Qualcomm tool qpst for that, I remember reading people were unlocking their phones that way. Tmobile I believe had an unlock tool and sometimes they will unlock it for you but it's a pain, good luck

Yeah QPST is a powerful tool, though I am still learning how to use it properly. Thanks for the tip anyway!
