I've made a few posts comparing Wichaya's GCam to the Asus camera. The stock Asus camera has always gave better pictures with more "pop", more shadow detail, and more accurate exposure and white balance. However the pictures are over sharpened and have less highlight detail.
The GCam pictures are too dark and lack shadow detail, but have a more natural look as they are not over sharpened. I've played around with all the Ram Patcher settings but have not found a way to get as good a look as the Asus camera...
I'd really like to only use a GCam so wonder if anyone has found an another mod that works well on the Zenfone 8 and produces pictures as good as the stock Asus camera. Or if anyone has made their own config xml for Wichaya's Gcam that gives as good a result as the Asus camera.

Yes, I use it myself on Zenfone 8. Can't compare cause I'm using only gcam, stock only for video.

Arnova's latest has the option I think. But it's just a placeholder. Doesn't actually work.

Use the search function. Gcam mods have max 5 megapixel front and max 12 megapixel rear. For further details as to why, search a bit please.
And by the way, the 5 megapixel front pictures from gcam are several times better than the 20 mp front camera pictures in indoor lighting conditions.

this is first beta..yes ofcourse all of them need to fix..other then that..the quality of the picture look good..thats all we need to know..

If it's not as good as 6.3 color wise, what is better about it?
I am about to purchase this phone, but counting on the use of GCAM because the native of these Chinese does not always do a good job, today I saw that the parrot has released an AWB support version for samsung sensors present on this phone. Only if works great on the phone, photo, night sight and portrait in rear and selfie cameras haha. In AWB mode have the option for this samsung main sensor, GW1 if i remember.

Can you post some samples against the native? Configs it's activate hdr+ and use 32 frames in advanced settings and setting the pixel awb mod to Samgun GW1
For a first test, everything is working except the slow motion. It forces closing.
Can't install it (global rom)
Edit : work after uninstall gcam 6.1...
- can't select more than 26 frames HDR+ enhanced (with more, no photo)
- can't use "sabre" (crash)
- you can select awb Samsung but I can't see better quality with it.
Finally, I prefer 6.1 gcam at this time

Can you show some samples of this two version of gcam and the native, it's good to our see the results and compare.

I find the gcam to produce much more accurate colours to what i see in real life. And has better depth. Whereas the stock tries to smooth out everything
The problem with Gcam is that currently it works only for the main camera and the front one...

This gcam is not very good for x2 pro. The photos are very bland and all color, saturation and others options do nothing when you change it.

Updated his version:
- Version without blacklist (for 8k and super resolution tests)
- 8K for devices with a 48MP sensor and a recent SOC or more 12GB of ram memory
- HDR10 video only for recent devices
- Super resolution in raw for oneplus device (7 and 8 series for moment)
- Super resolution in jpeg for all devices, similar to stock camera ( works on portrait on many devices )
- Attention changes have been made risk of bug with the xmls of the previous version.
So you have 50/48MP JPEG ONLY on Portrait Mode, things need to be fixed and probably RAW might need Root and Magisk. Thats why it was important to {Mod edit}

I remember when we donated for a mi9 for cosmin in the past to get custom rom it was allowed. Weird xda...

there's a fund raising going on for him to get the phone to work on it.
but it was removed from here cause xda-developers is now xda-kangers friendly.

I tested the latest Gcam Version Snap_Gcam_6.1Beta.210708.1750build-8.1.101 on my Mi 11 Ultra. It works great, Congratulations Arnova!!
When you open the app it shows 3 buttons 0,6x 1x 5.2x. The 0.6x and 1x lens works perfectly. Only the Tele lens 5.2x generate only a 640x480 picture. So obviously the 5x Tele lens is not activaed yet. Is it possible to fix this?

I don't think they are oversharpened because sharpness was set by default. They are taken with AGC 8.4.300. And upscaling indeed improves clarity and detail a little bit.

Upscale does not improve picture quality. It just let's you zoom further.
Only thing you get is too big images and file size.

No configs, just use presets Ka night and Ka day. But don't use Vivo config, it's blurred. And don't forget to choose Sabre merge and enable upscaling

By the way, it was made under room lighting (I use my own config for portraits). The stock camera in such conditions nervously smokes aside I am personally very pleased with gcam. And I don't understand why Vivo programmers get paid.

Thanks for posting tho, I believe gcam has the capability of pushing the sensors to their limits to take the best pics. Do you have any recommendations configs tho? You did mention you only use the presets but am getting slightly blurred images, gonna have to experiment a bit...

If you want a sharper pics you can play with sharpness and sabre. And don't forget to enable upscaling to 1.6x-2x. It increases the file size but detail a bit too.
