Hi I'm a new android user, have Xiaomi 11T pro, which is amazing, it was easy to root ( a must for me) but the phone has its own glitches and MUIU is horrible..
I want to get a phone that's easy to root and OnePlus comes in here I guess.
Can someone pls tell me if OnePlus 10 Pro is easy to root and which model is the best to buy? As In what model codes should I be looking at? EU,Global, Chinese?
Thanks for the advice

Is the 10 Pro worth getting?
Greetings, I've been browsing the sub for a bit and watched a few reviews about the phone because I have a pretty great deal for one and might consider buying it. I tried it out for a few minutes in a store the other day and it feels and looks...

I have just went from the S8+ to the X2 Pro and I was surprised how much the X2 Pro is advanced if you compare to it to the S8+ .... loading times, installing apps, GPS catch, network, wifi retention, don't want to talk about the autonomy or the screen on time.... it's just another world. You can switch to the X2 Pro without hesitation. :good:
Thanks mate. So decision is simply. Time to upgrade.

I also would say go for it , this phone is really great. i have the chinese version and i love it (just takes some extra adb commands and patience to work well in the usa). if you can get the global id say grab it and enjoy !!!
I'm in the same situation, I am currently using a Sony XZ Premium. Also, can any users confirm that it supports Netflix
Oneplus One X Realme X2 Pro?
Hello guys, I have a Oneplus One and I have been very happy with it during these 5 years, mostly because of the support it has at software level (many custom ROMs are available for it), but now it is old and it gives me some performance errors. So that I want to upgrade my phone and I have seen this Realme X2 pro pretty interesting, however I am hesitating if this phone will have as much support as Oneplus brand, because I want it to last a lot and I think this is only got thanks to the community.
Do you think this phone will have a big community behind? I would like to flash it with an AOSP custom ROM sometime.

So, long story short, my old OnePlus 6 fell from my pocket and broke, in one unlucky accident. I've decided to "upgrade myself" and go for a more recent model. I'm used to flash custom ROMs and try many of them until I find one that suits my needs and that's pretty stable.
I wanted to buy the OnePlus 10 Pro but it's my understanding that you can "just" root it? I haven't followed the Oppo drama lately so I don't know if it comes from the fact that the phone has been released "recently" or they locked things similarly to Huawei.

Is it because of some sort of lock or what? Because I would still buy it if I know that there'll be the chance to go custom in the future.
Thanks for the info btw.

There's no lock it has to do with the msm recovery tool. Since oneplus now charges for it to be used developer's don't want to touch newer phones.

Really, don't. Pixel 7 Pro or wait for another, it's a trying time for Android..seemingly dying compared to what it used to be like.

That's... sad.
Well, 9 pro will be, then, unless there are better options available.

I wasn't sure whether the Pixel series was comparable to OP in terms of power and customization.
Well, thanks to everybody for their answers!
OPPO 10 Pro is a **** phone.
Buy a pixel
I ditched my 10 Pro awhile ago, and I'm happily back to my 9 Pro!

Personally the 10 Pro has been really great for me, but I don't ROM hop anymore. I'm satisfied with the feature set of OOS plus basic root stuff. What are the main features in custom ROMs that get you to not use OOS?

Serious question, why do you think the 9 Pro is better ( besides MSM)?

I don't know about about OOS13 but I remember LineageOS performing way better than OOS11 in battery and loading times.
Gotcha. Last time I ran LOS was way back in the Android 4-6 period. I have only ever run OOS since the 3T did everything I wanted. I've managed to squeeze out 9 hours SOT on my 10 Pro (mind you, I wasn't gaming or anything like that, just basic web browsing, YouTube and messaging), and everything is very quick for my tastes. YMMV of course

Lot's more XDA Development!
Hello all,
I plan to buy the 10 Pro with colorOS .
I found this how to:
How to Install LineageOS ROM on OnePlus 10 Pro
In this comprehensive tutorial, we will show you the detailed steps to install the LineageOS ROM onto your OnePlus 10 Pro device.
www.droidwin.com
My question(s) are:
1. Is this work also with the coloros version?
2. The official site of lineageos do current not support this device. For get updates, is it better to wait? Or can this version fetching updates if coming?
Thank you for help
As there is no recovery tool. I recommend to stay on color os or oxygen os...
Remember there is a lot of bricked devices just waiting for a msm tool to work.
Thank you .. This I need.
I wait. Its better
That's just a GSI, it's quite simple to install but you'll be missing a bunch of features.
It's extremely simple to install, use the guide here on XDA to do so.
Recovery still works and fastboot enhances does too.
Unless you're a fool you won't brick your device.
I've installed every available GSI and they all have issues, you can use them for the most part but the issues will remain and alas will never be fixed.
Your plan to buy any OnePlus device is a flawed one. It's not a great device, only a device with great potential, potential that's never going to be realised.
Does anyone have any idea when lineageos will be officially available for the 10 Pro?

There are no plans..
The issue is that sources from OnePlus have not been fully released iirc.
Furthermore there is no tool to recover a bricked device so if something goes wrong during testing then we're stuck in limbo.
This leaves us in a situation where we have a very capable device totally blocked by the totally greedy mungbeans that are Oppo / OnePlus.
My advice, if you've just bought your device then return it, if it's still quite new but you can't return it then sell it and get any of the pixel devices..
The current situation will not change and if it does it'll be a challenge from start to finish for the poor hapless soul who dares to start flashing their deuce with a custom ROM.
It could prove very expensive at worse or hit and miss at best, both extremely time extensive and worrying at the same time.
Wish I had better news mate, it's a sad time.
Thank you for the detailed explanation. Yes, I understand all that. Fortunately I inform myself before I buy a device ... I don't have it yet and probably won't buy it.
My 7 Pro is getting on in years. It still works perfectly... But I still have Android 10 (lineageos) on it.
lineage_guacamole-userdebug 10 QQ3A.200805.001 286f3fd16d
I haven't been getting updates for a long time. All the important accesses (bank etc) are on the device. I can't afford a dist upgrade failure.
I think I will buy a 9 Pro. I like oneplus. I am very happy with it.
9 pro is a shout.. definitely have a look at the pixel 7..
7 pro was a great phone, I miss my 8 pro, it just worked and had that crazy photocrom camera...
Motorola edge ultra or the next nothing phone could both be a fair punt as well.
Oh, I am not a native English speaker. "9 pro is a shout"?? In my language, that can mean that the 9 Pro is great or that it sucks. Lol. What do you mean is a shout
Thanx

"I'm going to bet on this horse"
"Yes that's a good shout"
Basically it means good idea.
Thank you
You're welcome buddy
Hi guys,
I appreciate sharing your user experience for oneplus 10 pro globalversion.
I compare between this device and oppo find x5 pro.
I read about some issues like overheating and lag with some apps.
Water resistant is not a real feature and it's not covered within the warranty.
A weak body of the phone and I shocked when I saw durability test.
The phone is perfectly fine and it ticks every box I could expect it to, bar a few..
1. Lack of a leaked recovery method, there is no MSM this time and there will never be.
2. Subsequently due to no MSM, there is no custom ROMs of any kind whatsoever and there never will be; simply because of the above and on android 12 a lack of complete sources.
If your only desire is the phone itself with root but no custom ROMs then yes it's a great great phone, also the global version doesn't get updates as well as the EU version (NE2213).
But.... if you ever have the idea to have more, then no it's not the phone for you, my advice is grab the nothing 2, wait for the pixel 8 pro or even the new Motorola 40 ultra.
OnePlus is now simply an extension of oppo and I highly doubt that it'll change any time soon, even if it did I believe the damage is already done, people now know that OnePlus/ oppo is doing a Huawei and they're sick of it, the writing is on the wall.
FYI this question has been asked a lot, I'd recommend searching these forums, your won't need to look for long.
Waterproof-ness on mine seems good. Dunked it in the swimming pool a couple of times with no issues.
