2.2 Question

Hi this is probably a really stupid question but I am new and don't really know what I'm doing lol. I was wondering if there was an easy way to upgrade my sprint hero to 2.2. Google offers the official stock android but I don't know how to install it and I can't figure out the search here. Can someone lead me in the right direction? Maybe link to the right thread? Thanks for the help

One thing is for sure your going to have to root your phone before you can do anything so here's the rooting guide for 2.1:

The official source code for 2.2 doesn't just install on our phone everything has to be packaged in a rom and if its not supported by htc we have to do it ourselves so if you look around in the forums you'll find a lot of good 2.1 custom roms and darchstar built a 2.2 froyo build from the ground up. What is darchstar's 2.2 rom called

Just wanted to double check, newbie here but willing to learn. You have to get to your phone into a root statues, at which point your going to flash a new rom onto it with either 2.1 or 2.2?

that is correct
its not too hard once you finally get set-up
i suggest trying out a basic rom without all the bells and whistles first
then once you realize you can load a rom and you mess with it for a bit, try flashing a new kernal, try using overclock, try out a new launcher even *adw or helix.....*, then if you're still feeling good you can try jit
by then you should understand a bit more.

Where are the roms?

I just recently upgraded from a G1 to a GalaxyS.
I'm on the verge of rooting but I can't find any roms.
If there are roms, (Which I assume there is) can someone point me in the right direction in which Rom I should use. I'm looking for something 2.1 or 2.2

[Q] Confused about updating to Gingerbread

I'm in the USA with an AT&T version of the Tab. Am I able to upgrade to Gingerbread manually? If yes, can someone point me in the right direction to the best/easiest way to upgrade? FYI: I don't have any custom ROMs installed and have never really hacked my Tab beyond installing a new launcher.

Try searching galaxy tab android development forum, you will get good insight from there.

Go here. The attachment in the first post will walk you through the process. Read it 3 times over before you do anything just to make sure you know what you are doing. Other than that, it's pretty easy and worth the upgrade.

Its a thread that takes you by the hand and holds it for every step (thankyou Jacktackle)... It"s a good guide if you were like me and a TOTAL noob at flashing the GT...

You may need the modem.bin file for your brand of GT. That can be found in the link slimdizzy gave you. Just read through the modems, you'll find the right one...

Can anyone send me links for the best suitable rom for this?
and the what is the best recovery for this?twrp or cwm?

Hello, ive also recently found my old tablet (Verizon SCH-I800) and want to be able to update it enough to use it as a clock and calendar on my desk. i have been searching for days but have not been able to find anything useful yet. by chance did you have any luck in your search with your tablet?

Looking to root and flash an updated android onto it. new to rooting and flashing and im learning very quickly that it is not very simple. anything useful would be so much help! thanks!

I've been looking everywhere too. I want to flash a custom Android 7 ROM but no luck finding one. Might just have to suck it up and buy a new phone.
