Android Auto connectivity workaround that works!

Workaround that works 100% of the time for those having trouble connecting.
Unlock phone and turn on car or head unit. Note you should have android auto installed already before this will work. Plug in the cable to your phone and you will hear the link sound and the screen on your phone will flash off for just a second. As quickly as possible once the screen goes black on your phone uncable the phone and reconnect it. I know this sounds janky, but it really works. You can tell it is working by the screen on your head unit going black in the background and you will see the android auto icon sI have tried all suggested fixes and this is the only one that works 100% of the time. It also does not take over the telephone's display so you can navigate to other apps and still have android auto running. It is quick and gives you the best of both worlds. I almost returned my 2016 gti due to the frustration from this issue, but now it is no big deal.
Hope this helps guys and gals.
No. For what I read , the only API available for 3rd parties are to send messages and music, and that, using google interface. No other developer can do anything with AA.

S4 active and android wear disabling wifi

Up until recently the S4 has worked fine with Android Wear but now if I turn off my Wi-Fi I can't turn it back on. The only way to get it to come back is if I uninstall Android Wear and reboot. As soon as Android Android Wear is reinstalled the problem comes back any suggestions?

Car doesn't switch automatically between day and night mode

I drive a 2016 Honda Civic and have enabled the re-designed Android Auto update. The problem is whenever my US Unlocked Galaxy S9 (Snapdragon) is in Dark Mode, Android Auto is forced into dark mode, no matter if it's daytime outside. And when Dark mode is turned off, Android Auto is forced into Day mode, even if it's night time. I've enabled developer options and tried "Phone controlled" and "car controlled" but neither get the desired result. I have the most recent July 2019 patch.
Some say on reddit that this has been fixed for them, but I have no idea why it isn't working for me.
What am I doing wrong?
I have almost the same problem. The difference is that I don't get to force AA in night mode at all. I also tried all options in AA developer settings with no success. I use AA on a Peugeot 3008 with a Galaxy Note 10+ connected and Android 9. Everything worked fine with the Note 8 and Android 8.1 I had before. I have all latest security updates installed on phone (august and september).

Solution for that ?
- In the Android Auto app, tap the Hamburger menu.
- Tap About.
- Tap About Android Auto header 10 times, until a toast appears thar says "Developer mode enabled". Now you can access developer mode by selecting the overflow menu dots on the top right of the handheld screen.
There is a command for that night/day display
Do a try

If you would read what the poster wrote you would understand that he already did what you suggest and I also. Nothing helps.

Probably the problem is Samsung One UI, are you using themes or are you able to use night mode on smartphone?
Try to remove theme and check android auto.

Yes, indeed, I was using a high contrast theme, but going back to the original theme didn't help. Waze works fine on the phone in night mode with or without AA. Only when I start Waze from the car's infotainment system, it doesn't switch to night mode, even if I switch it manually from the settings. Google maps also does not switch to night mode.

I've exactely the same problem and it started when my old S8+ updated to One UI, now my S10 have the same problem.
I will try to test without theme to check if it work here.

Just checked here, android auto cannot change day-night mode on Samsung One UI.
If I put on night mode Waze and everything on AA is on night-mode and using it if I change to day-mode on One UI settings AA also change to day-mode so the problem is the One UI.
Guys, its known issue wiht Samsung One UI. What you can do is to set it on scheduel mode to sun set/sunrise with default theme, in this way the phone will go into night mode when the sun goes down and swithces automatically the AA into night mode automatically as well as your phone. There is nothing else you can do about it. maybe its possible with a tasker to set the phone to scheudeled night mode when it has connected to car BT, and then put it back into night mode if disconnected (its mabye possible only on S10(e,+) with bixbey routines, but never tried).
Before aug or sept update it was possible to circumvent this issue, by enableing developer mode with default theme, set it on automatic nigh/day and check also display night mode menu to to have the same setting. then you could install a high contrast dark theme and it still worked, changed the AA according the sun/set into night mode but did not change a thing on the phone, but this option has been disabled by samsung.

Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G and Uconnect

I'm not sure if this has to do with recent updates to Android Auto or if it's specific to the make and model of my device (I got the new phone around the same time as the latest AA updates were released), but I'm now experiencing endless frustrations with constant connection failures between my phone and my Jeep's Uconnect 8.4 head unit again. I went through a similar thing, as did many others, around this time last year and the year before. It's infuriating.
Most of the time, when I plug my phone into the vehicle's USB port, the Android auto icon appears on the display of the head unit for a moment or two and then disappears. There's a notification in the shade on my phone that says something like "Connecting to Android Auto" or "Starting Android Auto." But then it never really starts.
Occasionally I try clearing the data, storage and cache from the Android Auto app and sometimes Google Play Services. Sometimes I'll also have to go into the Uconnect settings menu and tell my head unit to "Forget device." Every so often, as long as I then turn off the ignition and then restart the vehicle and then reboot my phone, this will bring me back to the Android auto setup screen and I'll be able to use Android auto for a single drive cycle. as soon as I cut the engine and unplug my phone, it's over. When I get back into the vehicle I'm back where I started: with the head unit seemingly able to recognize that an Android Auto device is connected for a moment and then Android Auto just quits out.
It's insane. Seems like Google can't just get this right. As soon as they release a build that works, they follow up with an update that completely breaks functionality.
Anyone else have a similar experience and, hopefully, have suggestions and how to resolve this nonsense?
Used my iPhone with my 2018 Challenger for a year and it worked perfectly. Switched to a Note 20 Ultra last month and it worked for about 2 weeks. Same issue you're experiencing. I'm going back to iPhone.

Android auto starts when homebuton is pushed on Poco F2 pro

Hey All,
recently i had to revert back to factory settings on my Poco F2 pro because of repair that had to be done. Android auto was running fine before.
Now since the restart and recovery of all apps and settings android auto doesn't work nicely anymore. If it's connect to the car with USB it runs smoothly, but once disconnect the issues happen.
I can't use the phone normally anymore. Each time i push the homebutton (round icon bottom of the screen) it opens android auto. Even when i close apps and push the home button on the home screen it opens android auto. I can only get rid of this issue by deleting the complete APP.
Car / head unit make & model: Seat Leon 5F

Android Auto app version: Latest download avialable in Belgium (6.7.612934)

Anybody else ever had this issue or has a idea to solve it?
