Hi everyone.
Is anyone else here with galaxy tab s8 ultra also stuck on may security patch? Since soon it's been 2 months with samsung not releasing any updates to galaxy tab s8 ultra. They didn't release any for June and now it seems nothing for July.
Hope samsung didn't ditch this series already. Unless they are so busy with android 12L for fold 3 and galaxy tab s8 series, which is what will be coming as next update instead with oneUI 4.1.1?
I'm on the second June OTA (rooted) for the XAR Tab S8 Ultra. There was one at the beginning of June and then another in the middle of June. Which region code is yours?

Actually, I was misremembering my updates. The first June one was on the middle of June and the second one was at the end. Both on the May security patch level, though.

But yours is still on may security patch. It says security 05.01 on all last 4 of them. So I wonder what's up with samsung? So you are on same boat as me.

Yep, I said that.
Personally, I wouldn't worry about them skipping one or two. I only expect the most regular Android updates on my Pixel phones.

Yeah sorry you did. Well hopefully it's due to them preparing Android 12L for our galaxy tab is cause of why updates are slow.

Even if they aren't working on 12L/12.1 for the Tab S8s, 13 will have 12.1's changes if Samsung doesn't scrap too much of it.

Well I read some where if it was sammobile or some other site was saying that Android 12L will come with OneUi 4.1.1 for galaxy fold 3 and galaxy tab s8 series. Before Android 13 with OneUi 15 arrives later this year.

From my understanding, once you flash a U2-level firmware, you can't downgrade to a U1-level firmware. I have the correct device listed, right? Which firmware is it that you just received (maybe it's not listed here yet, sometimes it takes a day or two). Note, the Build date isn't an indicator for when it was released. It's usually released later.

It ends on G9 so it is not listed on that picture. I had EV4 before G9 update came and said I cannot downgrade after updating to G9 build.
Also what is difference between U1 and U2?

Interesting!
I don't think that we (or anyone outside of Samsung) knows the detailed differences between different security patch levels. There are many possibilities that we're not privy to. It could be Samsung arbitrarily deciding not to allow downgrades to a lower U-level. U2 being higher than U1, it's impossible to downgrade to a U1 firmware. When U3 comes, it will be impossible to go back down to a U2 firmware.
As far as I know, we only know that a higher level can't downgrade to a lower level firmware. Theoretically, although I don't know the caveats or details outside the typical "dirty flashing to downgrade might break some things and require a factory reset", if you're on one U2 firmware, you can downgrade to any previous U2 firmware.
According to the Windows SamFirm program, your new firmware is still level U2:
Checking firmware for SM-X906B/EUX/X906BXXU2AVG9/X906BOXM2AVG9/X906BXXU2AVG9/X906BXXU2AVG9

However, I have no idea if the possibility to downgrade at all is reserved for those who have the bootloader unlocked. It's common here in the U.S. that is how it works, at least on phones. Even with the bootloader unlocked, it might be still impossible to downgrade from a U2 to a U1 firmware.
It appears the information at the link for your device's firmware has been updated and now includes your 7/21/2022 build X906BXXU2AVG9.

Samsung has released OneUI 4.1.1 and Android 12L for the Tab S8 Ultra in Korea. I have used Frija to download it. The CSC is KOO. I have used Odin to install it on my US SM-X900 WiFi and all works. Security patch is August 1st. It is just like on my Fold 4 with the task bar at the bottom when using any app. I used HOME_CSC when flashing so I did not reset my device.

Sammobile has posted a number of regional T700 firmwares in the recent few weeks. The firmware patch level is from summer 2017, but it was built this summer. Bizarre, isn't it? Very un-samsung-like to release an update to four year old tablet. However, if they do release an update why not use the most recent Marshmallow AOSP codebase (I believe from r81 from October 2017) instead of summer of 2017?
Anyways, if this is not a hoax, I hope the T800 version would be coming some time as well.

I got my T800 Updated this morning. It was a France model and the version of the update is T800XXU1CRH1 dated august 2018 with august 2017 security.
The update says it was for the european GDPR law. So maybe just the euro models will be updated.
Got the update too. Confirm it says it is for GDPR. A whole update only for this? OK the security update is there, but they never bothered to keep it updated in that sense

Oh, that's disappointing. This means that these updates won't extend beyond Europe. Sammobile shows now that there is also an update for T800 (France only so far). I guess Samsung won't do a real miracle for our tablets, as in providing an up to date security patch level.
A new firmware was now also published for the T705 (TGY = Hongkong):

Just got a prompt for an update on my 5 year Samsung sm-t800 in th UK. Its 253mb and I guess there is no improvement just a load of help files and data protection warnings in the os I guess. Does anyone know what is exactly in it..?
Heard a very strange 'ding' from my T800 (U.S WiFi only model) just now, and sure enough a new software update window was on the screen. At first I was thinking it was a 'fake' splash page since I had Chrome open, but alas it was not.
Firmware T800XAR1CRI5 @14.89MB.
Their last update was over a year and a half ago for this tablet, and it seems they are releasing an patch every year or so. (v6.01 09/2016, then patch 6.01 4/2017, and now patch 6.01 11/2018). So this original Tab S 10.5 is almost 5 years old and still getting security patches each year.
Also, I'm a bit baffled since I had 'Scheduled Software Updates' set to 'Off' and it still got it.

According to Sammobile, the Security Patch level of this firmware is only 2016-11-01. So, either this update is for something other than security patches, or Samsung does not report the patch level correctly. If the patch level is truly only at 2016-11-01 level, then this update does not address some of the famous security problems from recent times, such as the KRACK or Spectre. So I won't be pulling this firmware because my ROM is already modified, but I might use the new ROM if I decide to start from fresh setup.
Just got a notification for the US version on t-700. I'll flash in the morning. If I notice anything meaningful, I'll report back here.
Before and after, for your comparison. Kernel was updated, and SE as well. I'm guessing patching vulnerabilities there.

Even worse for me, it installed itself without my permission overnight without even a prompt. I don't have updates on just like you.
I notice the kernel version has a new date but is exactly the same version and build.
Seems strange that Samsung would push an update to such an old tablet. Hopefully they aren't trying to drum up sales for the S4 by breaking something.

First thing Android pie update will takes months to get it.
They seem to do Russia first to test so be patient it going to take a while to get it.
Samsung is going to be slow on this one.
Just to clarify, does A8+ have a Dec-Jan security patch update? Because i badly need that. I've been hitting the check update option on settings and it says I'm on the latest which is November.
I'm just curious if there are any other N960W users that can confirm that they're also still on the May update on Telus. I have yet to receive the June or July update at all.

Hello everyone and happy new year, my Samsung s21 ultra unlocked phone on Verizon wireless is still running the BUK7 firmware ,not sure why it won't update, anyone else having the same issue, help would be greatly appreciated
Update hasn't rolled out fully to everyone yet after they halted it. Stop making new threads, just be patient...
I'm on US unlocked with a Mint Moble sim and I got the update after BUK7 which was the BUKF. It was a small <300 MB update, but still with November patch.
If you don't have the update yet, you can download it from sammobile or samfw
But we should bet getting one soon with the December security update. Seems like the SM-G998U1 model with all other CSCs are getting them since yesterday. The unlocked model has the XAA CSC and for that the last update was December 8th to BUKF

I bought a used galaxy s21 ultra from a local store that buys & sells and used phones. It's network unlocked with att firmware. It is using Android 11 and one is 3.1. Its latest security patch is Sept 1 2021 When I attempt to update, the phone, it tells me that it's up to date.

What is the version of your s21 ultra...
SM-G998U
You can check here what the latest firmware is for the phone:

Change CSC maybe?
Can you post the exact build?
Prob someone manually flashing the wrong firmware on it so no AT&T OTAs will work, but easily fixed.
If you post the version it should be obvious.
