I saw guides how to flash rom (bcs when i tried flash roms without flashing MIUI before, my redmi got bootloop) and people said to flash MIUI before flashing ROM
i have 2 questions:
1. why we should flash MIUI before flashing ROM
2. Does this MIUI take additional storage?

Pardon me, if i have posted a problem that was posted before, but i have gone through the site and couldnt find a solution to this problem.
I have been flashing some CM7/MIUI based roms with no problems, now i have tried to flash other roms (following instructions to the letter) but i have hit a brick wall, its eithr the process aborts before it starts or i get stuck with boot loops.
im currently on a MIUI rom (MIUI 2.1.6) baseband i900XXJVT
stock MIUI kernel.
here is a list that have failed to work through CMW:
F1 Innovation HD v7.0 (WIPE)
MilkyS_Mod_v1.2_CWM_wipe
SGS ICS Doctor's Rom v1 by VibranTurk
GTI9000_JW1_deodex_zipalign_Root
Im not a fan of ODIN because im afraid of bricking my phone hence i prefer CMW flashable roms. Please Help me
thank you in advence
hello there,
you could flash teamhacksung's ICS Port from Cyanogenmod. (I assume you have made a nandroid backup)
That worked for me...
sometimes a rom requires an additional wipe of your data/cache, or a second flash to work!
also give odin a try! you wont brick if you dont do anything stupid.
You need to flash the stock rom after flashing cyanogenmod, miui or any aosp rom.
You can flash samsung based custom roms after flashing with odin.

thanks i will give Teamhacksung's ICS port, i hope it will work, i like my phone to have its freedom.
Quote from teamhacksung's ICS Port Thread :
- Upgrading from CM7?
Do a Nandroid Backup!
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition)
Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery
Optionally install the Google Addon

So it is not nessecary to flash different bootloaders or a Samsung Stock Rom....
In my case i had to do the "Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery" twice to get it working.
It would be nice to hear when you've made any progress.
Hey guys, judging from the number of users between Slimkat, CM, and Mokee that are having trouble installing, here is a guide to install any AOSP-based ROM for the Xiaomi Mi3
Installation Guide:
Be on a KitKat ROM before flashing
You must have a custom recovery installed that allows SELinux.
Download the Xiaomi Mi3 build .
Download the gapps
Disable True Dual Boot
Fully wipe your device from Recovery if you are not coming from the ROM you're flashing already.
Install ROM on System 1
Wipe Dalvik and Cache
Reboot
Enjoy, hit the thanks button
Would be rather helpful if you explain it in a bit more detail. People who don't know some of the things written above will be left even more confused.
Agreed, some newbies do not know all the acronyms and versions... I know KitKat is Android 4.4.x , but what custom recovery? TWRP (TeamWin Recovery Project)? Clockword Mod? The Mi3 W (Snapdragon 800 chipset?). Anyone else want to expand / pitch in?
Thanks.
get the latest recovery from either twrp or cwm. It'll work. just be sure you get the correct build.
CANCRO is the international version (snapdragon)
and most of the roms are for cancro only

Hi Bro, I am a newbie here, don't know anything at all. Can you help a bit here?
1. Kitkat rom:-> any of the miui rom will work? just the number > 4.4x ?
2. How to install custom recovery, can you give a link for mi3?
3. You meant download from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-3/general/aosp-rom-leaked-t2876646/ ?
4. Install Slim on System 1 :- Can you give a link?
Is it just me or does formatting cache with CWM take forever on this device? I'm wating for at least fifteen minutes now and it used to take just seconds on my old device. I know the MIUI revocery had that annoying 98% bug but CWM shouldn't be affected by the same thing right?

I am beginner in Rooting and Changing ROMs. Means I don't know internal details but able to flash different roms.
I have rooted my phone and installed many custom ROMs such as Pixel-Experience ,HAVOC-OS,Cardinal-AOSP and many others but didn't changed the kernel.
Now,I tried Pie Rom Superior OS and changed the kernel to TheBeatrix.
Now i am unable to call from my JIO SIM to anyone and unable to recieve call and messages.
I also tried Nitrogen OS and Pixys OS after it but still no affect.
What should i do to make my JIO calling work??
Is this a problem with my device now ? or something else ??
