Hi guys. I was reading news of Qualcomm announcing X55 5G modem which is the follow up model to S10 5G’s X50 modem and one of the advantage was the new X55 isn’t carrier specific. From my limited understanding it seems X50 will only work on the carrier the phone is sold for and I assume limited to 4G LTE if roaming/unlocked. Does this mean the Verizon S10 5G available later this month can only get 5G on Verizon and the South Korean 5G model won’t work in the US?
Also, there is a Department of Defense paper last month on 5G race and it mentioned China is pushing the world to adapt 6GHz 5G standards while the US is pushing mmWAVE because 6GHz spectrums are allocated to the military in the US. It states most countries will adapt China’s standard as most countries have 6GHz free. I don’t know the advantage/disadvantage of 6GHz vs mmWAVE but does it means US 5G phones and carriers are incompatible with international 5G phones and carriers?
Sorry for the long questions. Thinking I should ask the experts here. Want to get a Verizon S10 5G to use on Sprint later this year.
It's my understanding that they will be carrier locked. AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile are all using some different bands in their 5G phones.
hello
according spécifications
G977N : 5G
Bit78 TDD 3.5Ghz ( 5g NR)
Bit257 26Ghz ( 5g NR)
G977U 5G :
bit71 600Mhz ( 5g NR)
Bit260 39Ghz ( 5g NR)
Bit261 28Ghz ( 5g NR)
NR = New Radio

I have a grey import South East Asian variant of this phone. I'm using it in Australia on Optus 5G network and I'm not seeing 5G?
In the SIM card settings it's set to 5G/LTE/3G/2G Auto but I only ever see 4G+ at best.
Do they use different 5G bands in SE Asia compared to Australia? If so is there anyway to get the 5G to work here in Australia?

Maybe you don't have 5G reception there. But there is a new firmware - maybe that will help
Download Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G SM-G781B OPS Australia (Optus) G781BXXS3CUF1 firmware
Fast download latest Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G firmware SM-G781B from Australia (Optus) with G781BXXS3CUF1 and Android version 11

Yes, it's definitely in a 5G area as my work colleagues receive 5G with the same SIM. Would this firmware work with my Dual SIM version?
before flashing any firmware have a look at this app, I've not used it but others say it's helped them out.
Samsung Band Selection - Apps on Google Play
This app will help you access hidden network settings for forcing band selection

there's definitely a chance that the bands the phone prefers to use don't exist where you are. you should do some research about what 5G bands that model number supports and about what Optus and Australia in general supports. 5G bands are weirdly named so be careful, hopefully you'll find some overlap.

For a S21 Exynos device to enable 5G capability in the US your service provider would not only need to transmit on bands N5, N41 or N66, it would also have to be anchored to the carrier's 4G pipe. In addition to this the firmware would need to align with carrier specific configurations. I haven't read of any Global Market devices utilizing 5G in the US. You will be able to make calls but that's about it. If Call Features or 5G are a priority it's always best to aquire your service provider's device

I dont wanna be restricted to using Exynos only
Hi,
I have searched a lot but I have not found which 5G bands Samsung S20 FE 5G Indian version support. I know it has nine 5G bands but which one is nowhere mention.
I request forum members if they have this phone then kindly list out the 5G bands of this version.
It will help me greatly as well to those who will come up by Google search.
Thanks
