Google Pixel 4 XL (and 4) models number - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

Hi, I need to buy an international phone that will work with the European bands. I tried to do some research but I can't figure out which model number of the pixel 4 and 4XL are the international or Euro version.
What I have found so far is that the G020M is the Pixel 4 for Rest of the World and I *think* the G020P is 4XL Rest of the World version.
Could someone verify that?
Thanks.

I think you are after the global varient, if so to the best of my knowledge I believe you are correct.

Looking to get an Unlocked Note 5...Model?

I am looking to get an Unlocked Note 5 in Silver (does anyone have this or have you seen it - does it look as good in person)
My question is:
There are many unlocked versions, but I believe there are several versions that may work in the US
But I am thinking it is one of: N920C or N9200 or N920I (I am thinking it is the N920I, with the "I" standing for International?)
Can anyone tell me which works on GSM in US, T-Mobile
Thanks

I would stay away from the N920C if you are going to use it in the US. I have the N920C and on ATT network it is getting only 3G and the signal is considerably weaker than on other phones compatible with ATT.
What does the N920C stand for. I think I need the "I" don't you.

They are designed for different continents. The N920I is for - Australia, New Zealand, Singapore. The N920C is for middle east, russia, africa, israel ...etc. If you can get the Unlocked T-mobile variant, you're good. Otherwise checkout the willmyphonework.net or the "The Ulimate Note 5 Band Guide."
Are you sure the I isnf for international.
That's what I wanna know. What one is able to be used. There is no such thing as a T-Mobile unlocked version. Yes there is one that works on T-Mobile, ATT etc. If you hear of the specific model I'd be grateful.

Thank you really ALot. I tried that and they got 2 blue checks and a yellow. So the same #frustrating
I bought the N920i version and work perfectly with ATT and TMOBILE. It have an amazing internet speed, i'm talking about more than 45MBPS.
Is a grate phone.
Thank you. I was thinking that was for International. Then I saw some sites (Expansys) who was selling the N9200 and was told they were the same.
thanks so much
Yes, N9200 is pretty much the same as N920i but dual sim card model. It should work in US. Be careful, this model can come from China and Google apps may be a problem.
I have ordered this model from Expansys and it should come from South Korea.
Spoke to Samsung via chat, NewEgg and Best Buy most will work to some degree here . BUT they said the one made for gsm carriers in US is the N920G. It can be had on NewEgg or Expansys but def eBay Amazon and Best Buy for $100 more than other places
just adding my 2 cents worth: i'm using a 64GB Silver SM-N9208 (Taiwan - CSC is BRI) dual SIM Note 5 on ATT & T-Mobile and it's working great. no network issues at all. 5 of the 10 people on my current project use Note 5's (including me); the other 4 Note 5 users are in awe of my device, especially the Silver color and the fact that i can make/receive calls from both SIMs at the same time.

There are so many threads dealing with this issue.
You should either use the above website or use pdadb.net to see which LTE bands a particular model uses and then compare that to the LTE bands your carrier uses (which is what the above website actually does)

Both N920C and N920I should work fine in US except one 3G band for T-Mobile....but when it comes to Software updates...what do you think is first to get official updates? N920I being the Australia model, would it be after N920C? I heard sometimes its after even US models...Thoughts?

Using an unlocked att device outside USA

I want to buy a galaxy note 5 from Amazon while I'm in America and use it in a different country where I live.
The device I am considering is the sm-n920a. I've checked the cellular bands and they Mach.
I'm have a few questions since it is not the international version or the sm-n920c that is sold in my country.
1. I heard people saying that it won't fully support my language since it is an att phone. It seemed odd to me because I thought that if the international version supports the language any module should.
2. Will there be a problem with OTA updates?
3. At the price point of 360$, is the note 5 really the best phone to buy?
Thanks

I have an unlocked AT&T Note 5 and an international one, both work perfectly even though I live outside America. And about updates I am not sure but you can always search for custom roms with the latest features for the device on the forum. And overall the n5 is a great phone in my opinion, has everything you need in a phone and more.

It should in theory as the snap has the modem which works on cdma where exynos does not.
There may be twrp for it and maybe a rom or two so not a total loss like the locked snaps.
Exynos works on Tmo but it is missing a band or two if memory serves me so you may not get 100% coverage or full speed LTE in all areas

Since you seem to be the guru on all these different versions and samsung in general. My question is can you enable/unlock (don't know the correct term) bands? I ask because the LA version will work for verizon it has cdma, bands 2 and 4 but is missing 13. Sorry if these are dumb questions I've never messed with Samsung stuff before. I imagine I'll have fun learning odin I regularly fight with adb . Thanks for any help
Im certainly no guru just have owned alot of sammy devices lol.
If a modem is capable of the band in question i the past it has been possible to unlock it to allow for reception. You would need root for this and there was another tool we used years ago QPST....not even sure if it works on current devices though.
If the modem isnt capable like exynos for example has no support for cdma then nothing can be done.

Guess I'll wait for awhile and see if twrp and root show up before I order may even try to wait long enough for the unlocking on bands. Have had nexus devices for years (still on a 6p)but I refuse to buy a phone without a headphone jack till I can charge and listen to music. Thanks again for your help

Here are the Model Numbers, Country of Manufacturer, Chipsets and Carriers. Haven't seen the different 128 Gb and 512 Gb with unlocked bootloader- Global (Exynos) and Hong Kong (Snapdragon) designations. In the past Samsung would number SM-*9600 as the base model and SM-*9650 as the premium model.

https://www.techwalls.com/samsung-galaxy-note-9-sm-n960-model-number-differences/
Also I haven't seen the 512 GB version on ebay yet and a number of carriers in the US have sold out preorders for the 512 Gb model.
I was told by AT&T that they will unlock the Note 9 for me after 2 months of service (no charge). Will I be able to use their model to install TWRP?

Flashing T-Mobile firmware on Unlocked Note 9

I often come across encouraging posts about flashing T-Mobile firmware on unlocked phones, specifically Note 9 in this case, and not having any drawbacks since the hardware is the same. However, after doing further research I found that the picture isn't as rosy as it seems when it comes to flashing T-Mobile firmware to unlocked phones. Here are some specific questions:
Can I roam on U.S. cellular network if I flash T-Mobile firmware on unlocked Note 9?
Will I get T-Mobile OTAs if I flash T-Mobile firmware on unlocked Note 9?
I remember that despite hardware being the same, the Note 8 UNLOCKED had only 2x2 MIMO capabilities, however the T-Mobile variant had 4x4 MIMO. Is it the same scenario with Note 9 Unlocked vs Note 9 T-Mobile as well?
I am 90% sure that Band 71 exists on Unlocked Note 9; will I have access to all T-Mobile bands if I flash T-Mobile firmware?
As mentioned in this thread, the camera LAGS on the Unlocked Note 9 variant. If I flash the T-Mobile firmware, does that make the camera better?
Please feel free to inform me if I am missing anything other than VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, DIGITS, RCS etc.
I understand, I should get the T-Mobile variant, but I am absolutely trying to avoid sending Samsung my phone for a trade-in, and don't want T-Mobile's bill credits for my phone trade-in. That's why I am interested in getting an Unlocked Note 9 and flashing a T-Mobile firmware on it.

At least 50% of what you "learned" was not true. Don't believe what you read on Reddit. Lots of idiots there. To answer your specific question: If you flash TMB firmware on your U1 device, it will become identical to anything sold in a T-Mobile store.
The only things you gain by using TMB firmware are video calling and digits integration. VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling have been on unlocked Samsung firmware for T-Mobile for at least 3 years. Digits is also usable on U1 if you're willing to use the standalone Play Store app.
The radio is the radio. There's no difference between U and U1.
Can this be done with the note 10+ as well? Flash the tmobile firmware on the unlocked exynos moldel to gain rooting power!

What's are you thoughts about the note 5
?
I have the note 5 international model and the network always so slow 3g says 4g icon (not true) and calls go directly to voice-mail for the past 3 years while using on tmobile. How are the radios the same when I put the same Sim card in to the tmobile branded note 5 network works like it should.

contrarily as today's devices in america, it would seem that those two note 5 models have the same SoC.
maybe post in the note 5 forums your inquiries since these are the note 9 forums.
Ok I will do post my question there. Although I do have one question for this thread of anyone knows the answer it would be much appreciated. . Does the unlocked note 9 network work correctly on t-mobile? Or does it have unmissed calls sent directly to voicemail and cell data 3g only?

Your model (SM-N960W) cannot be rooted.
If you want root, you need to get either of the following:
SM-N960F (D/S) International Exynos version
SM-N9600 International Snapdragon version
None of the North American versions (SM-N960,960U1,960W) have root, don't hold your breath waiting for it either.
Feel free to look around for the what's & why's,but, trust me,it's not happening,as evidenced by the lack of a sub-section here @ XDA for development for those models .
Thats unfortunate. I just got one as well and while its not terrible as-is... I'm very used to my Note 3 having extreme customization options and running android 9 to 11. 9 runs better on it for sure. I just shouldn't have tried to unlock it under 11. The unlock result said it was successful, but did nothing except invalidate the unlock code. So I bought the Note 9. Guess I'm stuck as-is.
Sad that it can't be rooted. Once its out of primary circulation, you'd think Samsung would let it go. Loosen the grip at least. Might have to look into another brand for my next phone. It would be nice if a manufacturer decided to make a model with modders in mind for a change. Its not wrong to dream.
