Hello, my M31 is broken : the screen is black, BUT he's working fine it seems as I can hear notifications in parallel of my new phone.
Do you think it's possible to have the screen on my TV via an USB-C to HDMI cable? My purpose would be to try auhorizing file access to recover my photographs.
I already tried with a UGREEN dock (1 HDMI, 3/4 USB) but it didn't work : is it because a special dock is needed or because M31 doesn't allow the screen image to go via USB-C to any TV / screen.

Ok, thanks a lot for your message.
I saw a large number of advertising like this. The UGreen I bought was capable of android devices but it didn't work with my M31 (nor with a Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro or a One Plus Nord N100). Are you sur it works? (I mean usb-c on M31 is 2.0 is it ready for hdmi signal handling?).
Anyway, if something can work, I would prefer a hub with 2/3 usb connectors so that I could have a mouse and a keyboard... and why not a hard drive.
Hello it seems that the above mink is just an advertising I found the same for oneplus at amazon.ca https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...UQFnoECBcQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1UaDF9c9BDdOhZjCq-jcDo
Did anybody with a M31 tried a hub?
USB 2.0 thoroughput is not enough for Video output. The devices that you mentioned does support Video out because they specifically support video alt mode with type c. You should have bought another device for this.
If you had usb debugging enable you could have use ADB video copier that allowed seeing you on PC. You could definitely access the storage on PC, can't you?

Hello, too bad : I hadn't usb debugging enabled...
I cannot install any app on my device : screen is broken, no possibility to handle anything (since the time I broke I can hear notifications but that's all).
You can connect to PC and use smart switch to take backup

Hello, thank you for your message : when launching smartswitch it asks me to enter the pasword onto the phone device : as I have no way to perform this (no screen, no longer any pixel working on the phone screen) it's not the solution I'm waiting for.
Concerning scrcpy : I tried to install it on my Windows personnal computer (downlaoding the scrpy.zip, unzipping, launchine scrpy.exe ... ) BUT nothing occurs when I launch the app :\

I want to connect a 27 inch monitor or projector.
From the official support says (ticket #770598, from Sky) that phone 3T supports out video via HDMI
I understand that you wanted to know if OnePlus 3T supporte USB to HDMI. I can provide you with the information that you needed.

Phone have usb type c version 2.
My questions:
1. This phone is really support hdmi alt mode? I don't see the image HDMI (or DisplayPort or Thunderbolt) alternat mode on the box.
2. If (1) is true. Any cable good for me? Ex. usb type c multiport adapter from apple store or necessarily with OTG?
3. How big is the latency video of through miracast (ex. ezcast)? If connect mouse and watch on cursor movement.
I tried this yesterday with a USB C to Hdmi adapter I got off Amazon and I had no luck connecting to the monitor.

I think they sold me a dud
Phone not supports MHL and other alt. mode
II wonder if a driver could be put into a ROM to support it via USB OTG since it doesn't support MHL?
I have an old external sound card, a Creative Xmod, that works perfectly with my roommates USB C, OTG adaptor.

I think because it is not implemented in hardware in the phone
If I'm correct Display Port alternate output requires USB Type-C 3.1 since the phone supports only 2.0 it shouldn't work. However not many phones utilise this feature even Google Pixel doesn't use this mode
Video out works fine on the 3T but only with Displaylink adapters. (So far anyway)
I have one and can confirm it definitely works either via HDMI or HDMI to DVI (I've tried both)
I used this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N40RQV4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
but any displaylink adapter or dock will work. (Make sure it very specifically says dispaylink, check the displaylink website if you aren't sure)
The only note is that displaylink says the Ethernet ports on the docks do not work with android.
(I suspect they might work on devices that support a regular Ethernet adapter though, I haven't been able to get a normal Ethernet adapter working on my oneplus 3t though for what that's worth.)
you will also need the displaylink app from the playstore though it does not have to be running.
if any of you have experience using an external Audio DAC with USB Audioplayer pro the process is very similar.
Once you plug the monitor in, a pop up will ask if you want to let the displaylink app control the adapter and if you hit "ok" it does the rest automatically.
Does the phone charge while connected to the DisplayLink adapter?
Just try with Chromecast or anything else with Mirascreen option
Does it work with Anker Premium USB-C Mini-Dock
Hi there everybody:
Have anyone tried to connect a dock like the Anker Premium USB-C Mini-Dock, Does OP3T work for charge and to view the USB ports of the dock? May be HDMI and Ethernet doesn't work but for me the matter is the chargue and the USB ports to connect an external DAC, a microsd and a pendrive. Regards.
Hey folks,
has anyone tested a USB Type C to HDMI-cable to project the Screen on a TV or monitor? On my Samsung S8 and LG G5 it works flawlessly, but on the P10 it only show the charging option for the cable
Is the cable the problem or does Huawei not support this? i couldn´t find any official info from Huawei about it.

Hello,
I don't think you can project from USB to HDMI BBY default. Unless there is some kind on emulation driver on your phone (which would require root). My advise, to achieve what you looking for, get a Google Chromecast and your good to go.

After trying multiple hdmi to type c adapters by now i came to the same conclusion. Unfornuately lg und samsung have that functionalty.
Chromecast is only good for certain things, if you watch videos it´s too delayed or might not even function depending on the size and format of the videofile.
As i travel much, it would have been nice to plugin the cable into the tv of the hotel to watch some movies on my phone and not all tv´s in hotels have chromecast functionality.
I hope huawei will implent this functions in next firmwareupdates or so, cause the mate 10 has that function exclusively (for now).
The difference is that G5 and S8 has USB 3.0/3.1 standard with USB type-C connector while P10 has old USB 2.0 with USB type-C connector.
You can check the specifications at gsmarena.com
BTW, Galaxy S5 has USB 3.0 with microUSB connector
Such a pity :/

So glad that it is supported on this device. Many vendors are killing this feature for some reason.
It's a pain in the a** to check if a new device has it nowdays.

Well, we don't all have Macbook Pro docks so does it work without that?
I bought a USB-C to HDMI cable today but I can't get it to work – are there any settings (or apps?) that I'd need to change/install to get this to work?
I just want to be able to plug my phone into a TV and play videos when I'm in hotels or away from home etc.
I'm new to both Android and the Nokia 8 so maybe I'm just missing something that's obvious?
(The most annoying thing is that it works perfectly on my old Nokia Lumia 950XL Windows Phone.)

Still didn't get the phone yet...
From what I know the native support works with USB-C portable adapters with a HDMI port. Don't know about the cable ones.
I have this, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EZTRI42/, and it's working well with the native support of the HTC U11, still don't know about Nokia 8 though
I've contacted Nokia customer care and that's their official answer regarding this matter:
"Thank you for contacting Nokia Mobile Care!
We would like to inform you that the Nokia 8 does not support video out through the USB type C neither the HDMI. If you want to connect the phone to the TV please try to buy the chromecast to cast the device to the TV.
We hope that the above information is useful for you! If not, or if you have another question, please feel free to contact us again.
Best regards,
Nokia Mobile Care "
Are you sure that the Nokia 8 can cast its screen though a macbook pro dock to an external display through HDMI @Luhccas-X10 ?
I have a dodcool usb c hub and hdmi does not work on 8.1
I got my Nokia 8 today and tried a USB-C to HDMI cable I used on my old HTC U11 and unfortunately it does not work.
I'm very much doubting that the Nokia 8 has this ability.
Well today I tried a macbook dock and no joy, seems pretty conclusive that it doesnt work
I'm pleased to confirm that Displaylink works with Nokia 8! I used this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01B5RN9ZY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
In theory any Displaylink hub or cable should work, note that you need to connect to the phone via a USB host cable e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01GKS2HCE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This should work on most devices with a USB port, for me it works on my Kindle HD and Laptop too should its a useful thing to have anyway.
I got the info from a thread for the OnePlus 5T so more info in there:

Well, very odd!
I tried a Displaylink-based hub myself with a Nokia 8 and it didn't work for me just like the regular adapters (which all of them, including the Displaylink one, worked with my HTC U11).
So, please elaborate about what you did. Is it a plug & play process? Did you do anything special to make it work for you?
By the way, I tried it with this Dell hub (which is Displaylink based on http://www.displaylink.com/products/find?vid_hdmi=1):
http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/acce...note_bnrank=0&baynote_irrank=1&~ck=dellSearch
So firstly you need to have the displaylink app installed on your phone, apart from that you should just have to plug it in - the app will then prompt you to start showing your screen which you say OK to and that's it.
However... I found that the vast majority of the time it just simply doesn't work. Every time the device has a notification to say a device it connected and drawing power but very rarely will the displaylink actually work. I literally had to connect and disconnect the device around 100 times on some attempts before it works, sometimes fewer but the weird thing is once its connected and working, I can remove it and plug it back in and it will work straight away.
Its a really strange issue which I don't understand, it cant be the cable as it works consistently but only after getting it to work that first time. I'm thinking there may be a bug with the 8.1 firmware as another forum mentioned the maximum charge amp is reduced in 8.1. Another forum mentioned that on the Xperia XZ Premium display link only works with external power to the displaylink hub so perhaps its drawing to draw too much power and its just a fluke that it occasionally will work. Unfortunately I tried to connect external power to my hub and blew it so I can't test any further
I've tried the same setup on a Galaxy S7 Edge and that worked every time, no issue so it must be something strange with the device OR the adaptor used to convert the displaylink hub from USB to USB C.
LUHCCAS-X10
You fraud. I bought my Nokia 8 on the basis of your post. Because you decided to post this BS, and then made a prompt exit from this thread.
Now I am stuck with it. With this phone and with no ability to hook it up to my projector without unacceptable levels of latency through Chromecast or some such.
I even wasted money on this USB-C to HDMI cable (Thunderbolt 3 compatible), that doesn't work.
My only hope now is this DisplayLink setup. Any more news on it?
I messaged LUHCCAS and they said this is what they used: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/USB...a741666&transAbTest=ae803_4&priceBeautifyAB=0
Although they didn't specify which. None of them say they use displayport but I guess its possible, if so then perhaps they are not a fraud.
I have ordered a new displaylink hub so I will let you know if that works more consistently than the other one I tried.
Sounds good, please update the thread if you get the Hub. I want to use the Nokia with my Car Radio via HDMI (Appradio Unchained)
Displaylink adapter support
I'm happy to confirm that I managed to get the Nokia 8 connected to a TV using a DisplayLink adapter. :victory:
It's working pretty good (both image and sound) as long as the DisplayLink presenter app is installed.
From the first couple of minutes with it I didn't experience any issues that @jamhtcman mentioned and it's working very well at any time that I plug in the adapter to the phone (without an external power source).
Link to the adapter that I'm using:
- Link is broken -
Side note: You'll need to buy a separated USB 3.0 to USB-C OTG cable because the adapter in the box is too thick for most of the cases

Awesome news, awesome :good:
BTW does it charge your phone while your phone is plugged in?
Also this is probably a bit of a specific question to pose; but by any chance have you checked whether the phone outputs just 2-channels of sound (stereo) through the displaylink adapter, or does it output however many are in the source material (e.g. 5.1 channels if you play a video file with a 5.1. surround sound audio track).

No option to charge the phone while casting I'm afraid.
Moreover, I can't tell about the sound cause I don't have any TV and AVR that supports 5.1 channels sound though an hdmi port.
Hi
Does any one know / tried to connect the Mi8 to an external display using a type-c adapter, does the hardware supports it?
I tried to ask xaiomi themselves and got a confused reaction lol
Thanks in advance!
Just tried and doesn´t work
Wont work because the usb c port is not usb 3.1
Xiaomi didn't include the USB-C Alt-Mode
The only possibility you have is to use "DisplayLink". You will need an app from play store and a special cable (USB to HDMI with DisplayLink chipset + USB-C to USB-A adapter)

Hi, thanks for the answers, if anyone is planning to buy that sort of cable and use it - can you please share results....please!!!
i'm looking for a way to work with my Mi8 as a sort of android PC by connecting it to a PC screen and hooking it with mouse and keyboard
the alternative way to display-link as written above - is to work with Chromecast, I tried that but for some reason the screen casting is not 100% full screen
i'm sure the reason is that the Mi8 is not 16:9 like my PC screen but still....it doesn't look OK
I don't know what to do....

Does anyone here know if Samsung has an official forum or website for Dex related issues? My searches on Google have turned up dead ends.
Also, is there a thread here on XDA to discuss Dex related issues?
I have a Verizon Galaxy Note 9. I bought a Vava USB-C hub on Amazon that gives me HDMI out, an SD card slot, 3 USB type A ports, and a USB C port for charging. I have a Logitech Wireless Keyboard and wireless mouse connected via USB. I'm having some issues with Dex and I would like to know if they are being caused by my hub or are they general Dex related issues:
- All devices must be plugged into the hub prior to plugging it into the phone. Hotplugging devices causes the Dex desktop to lock-up.
- Mouse scrolling breaks everytime I minimize an app. It also breaks in one app when I switch to another app and then right back to the first app.
Is anyone with Samsung Offical Dex Pad having similar issues? Also, is anyone with another unofficial USB-C HDMI connector having similar issues?
Edit: When scrolling for the external mouse "breaks," scrolling while using the Note 9 as a trackpad still works.
There is no such line for the time being.
I use the cheap USB type C to HDMI output.
However, my tv screen only show minimum size (1.5x bigger than phone screen)
any setting I need to do on my phone?

Firstly if your Note 9 is connected to tv and in Dex mode, the tv should automatically, scale it correctly.
(I have found that some, older tv's it's a bit misaligned .)
Secondly, are you in Dex mode or
screen mirroring mode ?
See screenshots.
