Full Tutorial and clean Rom by @demenicis http://www.needrom.com/download/zte-axon-mini-model-b2016-only/
You can search on this thread to find the files for Android 6.0.1
You need to root and install TWRP for flashin Android Marshmallow
I recently bought a ZTE Axon Mini here in Europe. It is a pretty good phone, the only problem is the software part which has some lag and UI problems.
They certainly can be fixed with a custom rom or rooting and doing changes or by ZTE themselves.
Here I will write the problems
1) The touch responsiveness could be more fast and snappy, when scrolling etc.
2) random lag occurs from time to time, Some other lag issues with the background apps closing etc.
3) Notifications sometimes do not show at all even when keeping aps on whitelist (deactivate mi assistant to solve this)
4) Dolby Audio gets deactivated almost every time you use headhones .
5) Marshmallow release anytime soon?
6) the UI is too heavy for the phone, most stock apps have issues
7) You cannot adjust brightness inside camera app on auto mode, the HDR mode is really not good ( too blurry)

Most of these issues have been fixed on 6.0.1 Rom (search thread)

Hi,
I can't confirm 1), actually my device runs smooth. I have the Build Version ZTE B2016 FTV1.0.0B01.0
2) random lags occurs, but rare.
3) it seems that this is an issue by the power saving management, I also have some issues with it. I'm actually testing autostart and whitelisting for background the important apps like messengers.
4) I didn't tested this yet
5) I read something arround February this year.
If you google for root, you can find some work instructions, but OTA will be deactivated. I have not tested it yet, will give the phone a few months and ZTE for the update
Issues
I have a lot of problems with this phone. Sometimes apps doesn't work. Most of the times I can't recive notifications, sometimes is laggy, some options doesn't work or change to it's inicial configuration, force touch is not accurate.... A lot! Please ZTE do something!. BTW, how can I solve the notification problem?!
Thank you so much

The notification part is the worst until now.
What I would add is that the camera app is unstable. It gets randomly on night mode and could be improved, on the focus and autoexposure part .
Overall the phone is great, it needs to be improved on the software part and I believe it could succeed and give ZTE a even better reputation
Now on the updates, does anyone know when marshmallow will be released for the Axon mini?

Ok guys, I have solved the notification issue, it seems ZTE had optimized the system for app cleaning, it even cleaned out some resources whatsapp and other apps such as this need to send notifications. Here is the solution for the ZTE AXON (all series)
1. Go inside settings /Power manager /manage background . Here deselect all the apps that you want to send notifications.
2. settings/power manager/auto start manager . Here select all the apps that you want to send notifications.
3. go inside Mi-assistant /Acceleration/ Whitelist . Here select all the apps that you want to send notifications. Otherwise, disable Mi-Assistant from the settings/apps.
It seems the tap to accelerate would remove all resources from these apps, With these changes, every notification will come as usual. CHEERS!!

I am also on 5.1.1.
Notification works better with enabling autostart and enabling background settings. I have disabled the Accelerator / Mi-Assistant, Android has its own power management.

Which version of Axon do you have ?
It seems the ZTE Axon A1R doesn't have mi-assitant or even power manger/ background manager, and it's on 5.1.1
Guess no way to get that without unlocking the bootloader?

Tried this on mine and this made no difference in fact in an attempt to combat the delayed notifications I had done the above and unfortunately in my case made no difference? If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know.

Inside mi assistant remove the auto run on startup and then press exit the mi assistant.
This last few days every notification has shown on time, I did a fresh factory reset and the applied all the settings. Don't know if that would help everyone but I am satisfied until now
I didn't do a factory reset and stopped the Mi-Assistant. Notifications work well after that. But don't forget to do Step 1 and 2, that is still neccessary beside of stopping the Assistant.
I was wondering what is the difference between zte b2015 and b2016 models. I have the b2016 but it seems nothing changes with b2015.
My geekbench 3 scores single core 712 multicore 3107
Antutu 38051 .

What model is that? Sounds like the US version?
One of the key features of Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) is the ability to install custom themes onto the device.
Themers can package their work into .hwt files that can then be applied by EMUI’s theme manager application. Users can customize the lock screen style, wallpapers, icons, background colors, and finally the font.
However, some users who upgraded to EMUI 5.0, the latest version based on Android 7.0 Nougat, have found that the “Font Style” option is missing. Furthermore, it appears that these users cannot even change their fonts by applying custom themes that have packaged their own fonts. I can confirm that this is the case on the Huawei Mate 9, as have many others.
Fortunately, there is quite an easy fix available to re-enable switching the font style, and it doesn’t require root. If you have a Huawei device on EMUI 5.0 and cannot find the “Font Style” option under Settings –> Display or in the customization menu of the system theme manager, then all you need to do is send the following ADB shell command:
adb shell settings put system hw_hide_font_style false
(Note: if you can’t get ADB working, make sure you have the proper driver installed. Installing HiSuite will automatically fetch the right driver.)
Reboot, and you should now be able to edit fonts on your Huawei device running EMUI 5.0! I hope you find this tip useful. This doesn’t appear to be a problem on every device running EMUI 5.0 (I’ve seen mixed reports on the Mate 8, P9, and Honor 8 forums), but if you haven’t been able to edit your font hopefully this will work for you. It certainly did for me!

There's no touch disable mode since Oreo update.
Anyone experience same problem?

Yes... looking for solution for about a week. We need a hw_XXX entry for that feature to enable it.
It´s like font chooser, which you can enable by adb with this command "adb shell settings put system hw_hide_font_style false".
did you find the solution?

Want my result from P10 Lite EMUI 8 Android Oreo?
I talked to Huawei support on facebook and they told me that:
"Hello, in Android 8 Touch-disable mode is enabled by default and can not be turned off. Best regards"
So i asked is it unavailable to disable it by ADB too:
"Unfortunately, this function has stopped being editable on Android Oreo"
I don't know what to think about this...

I think it is in emui somewhere.. same as honor 7x has DT2W/DT2S (double tap to wake/sleep) mode. It is about to find the proper command to enable/disable it. Same as function to turn on font chooser (whjich was on emui hidden since version 5 or 6). It is still possible to enable the font chooser by adb shell command (in settings/display there will show an option to choose font). Of course it is useless now, because font chooser is in theme app and also accessible trough long press on themeapp icon. but still this function is in EMUI8 and was disabled in EMUI6. So i think all the features of various huawei/honor devices are in all EMUI8 firmwares but we have to find how to enable/disable them.
1- by looking into system/build.prop or system/vendor/build.prop (the old way, not so much used by Huawei these days)
2- by looking and comparing getprop results across various Huawei honor devices
3- by reverse ingeneering the settings.apk and other main apk files (need lot of time for this).
I did this three steps on various models i had and found lot of features that wass disabled/hidden, or was for high end devices and in my device firmware were disabled.
Would be great to have getprop result and build. prop files from a huawei/honor device which still has TOUCH DISABLE MODE option in settings acessibility.

Dude, it works!!! Huawei P10 Lite EMUI 8.0.0 Beta Android 8.0
I DID NOT MAKE THIS ROM!!!!!! - A developer by the name of TheKit made this rom, so do not give me any credit for this rom, give it all to them.
I am simply linking it because I love this phone, I love Sailfish OS on it, and I think a lot of people would enjoy Sailfish OS on it as well and just don't know it is available.
Q: "What is Sailfish OS and why should I use it?"
A: Sailfish OS is a great OS for many reasons. Having used multiple android roms I can attest to the fact that:
1. It has MUCH better battery life (however it has a weird battery read bug, see issues below)
2. It is MUCH faster and generally more stable when it comes to the things that work (your calls won't drop, your system won't lock up due to lack of ram, etc.)
3. It has a great gesture driven UI that is a joy to use and very gorgeous to look at. No more of this all white bull**** Google has been forcing down our throats since 2014
Q: "How good is the battery life?
A: After a day of playing cave story at work and reading discord and listening to music, I am at about 30-40% end of day (I start at 8:30AM, stop at 4:00PM)
Okay now that the Q/A segment is over, lets get to the real meat
ISSUES
1. Battery Read is wonky, it only goes in 10% increments until it reaches 20%, then it starts going in 5% increments
2. If you use the 2.1.3.7 build keyboard backlight is broken, but it works fine on the 2.1.0.11 build
3. Bluetooth is wonky, I was able to play audio through speakers in the 2.1.3.7 build...
4. FM Radio is broken too
5. As the maemo-talk thread says, CDMA is untested, and like on Photon Q, most likely does not work. GSM works great though! :good:
6. The old 2.1.0.11 build has a slew of issues compared to the new 2.1.3.7 build. These include data not working out of box, wifi requiring a reboot to work, and auto rotation not working in a majority of apps by default. Consult this thread and the maemo talk thread for more help, and if you want rotation anywhere, install patchmanager 2.0 and auto rotate anywhere from warehouse for sailfish os.
Alien Dalvik install tutorial
I did not make this and do not know who did. the developer claims someone threw a brick at them with an sd card attached. The sdcard contained links to these files in the form of a text file names "monkeyAIDS.txt"
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mS6di1jYfVeDoFBjcANS6SmfkhGyEKoa/view - AD Jolla C (different from the Turing phone rpm, this is built for 3.1.x kernels)
http://sfos.scanf.su/maserati/alien-patched.tar.gz
So extract both files to your ~/ (home) directory and type in the following:
devel-su
[insert root password you set in settings]
zypper in [alien dalvik rpm]
rsync -a /home/nemo/alien/ /opt/alien/
ln -s /vendor /opt/alien/system/vendor
reboot
OPTIONAL: fix for the default 320PPI value
devel-su
[insert root password]
vim /opt/alien/system/build.prop
change ro.sf.lcd.density to the value of your choosing (Droid 4 is 256)
Keyboard Backlight Fix, works on 2.1.0.11, don't know about 2.1.3.7 -- Thank you @moodroid for this legendary patch!

dude you are a legend!
I would add that to the OP but you are first comment so anyone viewing the op will see this. I will definitely tell TheKit about this (then again, he gave you the 2.1.3.7 build so you can just tell them yourself)
Greetings,
I've been playing around with SailfishOS on my Droid 4 in the past few days, and I have a few questions about the whole thing. TheKit publicly shared a 2.1.3.7 build for the Droid 4 on his thread at Maemo, is that the one you are talking about or is it a different build? As someone mentioned this specific build seems to have issues with wifi, and I have the same problem. I can't post links, but the download link to the build I mentioned is on page 12.
The 2.1.0.11 build seems to work fairly well, however I wasn't able to install Alien Dalvik. After the installation the "Android Support" button does show up in the settings app, however nothing happens when I click the start button. I also attempted installing an apk both via the GUI (by clicking on it in the downloads) and via the command line by using "apkd-install", but it doesn't seem to work. Full log of the installation process attached.
I talked with TheKit, and the 2.1.3.7 build I mentioned (the one at page 12) is indeed outdated. He just updated the OP at Maemo and added the latest 2.1.3.7 build, which I just flashed and it's working great. Also installed Alien Dalvik following the instructions in the OP and it seems to be working fine as well! However I wasn't successful with the backlight fix method yet.
For anyone wondering how I flashed the latest build I went CM11 --> SailfishOS 2.1.0.11 --> SailfishOS 2.1.3.7 (rel2).

Hi Nikkos,
Sorry - that was me that posted the backlight fix, and I agree that it doesn't work on 2.1.3.7-rel2. It'd worked on every other version I tried, and I've now edited my post above. Glad everything is working.

No worries.
If anyone is wondering how to change the SailfishOS UI scale (I find the default one to be way too big) here's how I did it via the terminal:
Code:
devel-su
rm /etc/dconf/db/vendor.d/locks/silica-configs.txt
dconf write /desktop/sailfish/silica/theme_pixel_ratio value
I believe the default value should be around 1.1; you can also reset the value to stock with:
Code:
dconf reset /desktop/sailfish/silica/theme_pixel_ratio
or read the value with:
Code:
dconf read /desktop/sailfish/silica/theme_pixel_ratio
Not exactly droid 4 related, but thought I'd share.
Okay, I got the backlight to turn on!
Type the following in the terminal:
Code:
devel-su
echo 255 >/sys/class/leds/keyboard-backlight/brightness
It seems to properly react to some triggers like standby after being turned on but not to others like sliding the keyboard in and out (which means it will always stay on if the screen is on, regardless if it's been slided in or out). My assumption is that the keyboard sliding trigger got broken in some way, as I believe that's the way the backlight is being turned on. The events which trigger the backlight seem to be stored in the file /sys/class/leds/keyboard-backlight/trigger, so I assume that would be a good starting point to attempt fixing this.
The keyboard backlight intensity can also be changed, just change the 255 to a different value (it goes from 0 to 255).
Note: this change is not permanent, it will need to be applied again at reboot. Writing a script which executes the above commands at boot should be trivial though, and I will include instructions when I get it done myself.
EDIT:
Here's how to make the change permanent. Following these instructions you will create a Systemd service which will turn the backlight on when active and off when inactive; it will automatically run at boot and it can also be controlled like any other Systemd service (i.e. using systemctl via the terminal)
Type the following commands through the terminal:
Code:
devel-su
cd /etc/systemd/system
touch keyboard-backlight.service
chmod 744 keyboard-backlight.service
You will now need to edit the keyboard-backlight.service file with a text editor (either vim or nano will do, vim comes preinstalled, nano does not). Depending on your preferred text editor, type the following:
Code:
vim keyboard-backlight.service
or
Code:
nano keyboard-backlight.service
Now write the following to the file and save it:
Code:
[Unit]
Description=XT894 keyboard backlight service
[Service]
Type=oneshot
ExecStart=/bin/sh -c "echo 255 >/sys/class/leds/keyboard-backlight/brightness"
ExecStop=/bin/sh -c "echo 0 >/sys/class/leds/keyboard-backlight/brightness"
RemainAfterExit=yes
[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target
Now type the following to enable the service:
Code:
systemctl enable keyboard-backlight.service
That's it. You can now control the service by using the following:
Code:

Can anyone share the google drive file from the first post? Is there an alternative link available? Or could you PM me a google drive link? Thanks!
Can anyone suggest the best/correct ROM-slot size for TWRP?
Is it still like for CM/LOS:
800MB for system
10MB for cache
and rest for data as one likes?
Hya,
i have a sagit phone, with lineageos 18.1 on it, pioneer head unit capable of AA and CP. Until last weekend, it worked fine. After an error, where i had to factory default the phone and reinstall the apps again,i get the message "Phone permission needed to take calls. When it's safe, turn on the phone permission in Settings."
But all permissions are set for AA, including phone.
Any hint in how to solve this?
Thx in advance!
Did you check your Bluetooth settings if phone permission is on for your pioneer head unit Bluetooth connection?
Hi, same problem, not tried yet with bluetooth settings as suggested above. Did it work? ('m lazy to make a new attempt with LOS 18.1, I explain why below)
So if it's not working with the tip above, I give here some clues :
I recently upgraded my Sony X Compact from Android 8 to lineageos 18.1 (Android 11) with MindTheGapps installed. Everything works fine except these call permissions.
I decided, after several failures, to test LOS 17 and calls are now possible from AA.
In Android 11, AA is natively integrated. In A10, it's not, it doesn't appear in the bluetoth/NFC settings, like in Android 8. Does this make the difference? A8 and A10 seem using the same permissions process, A11 not.
About permissions, I found another thread close to my issue and could be related: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/linageos-16-overlay-permission-denied-but-it-is-checked.3924101/ . I tried the second method (Magisk) but it gave nothing and I'm just a newbie in Android world to try the other methods.
Any suggestions ?
Update from last reply
I finally installed LOS 19.1 (Android 12) with still MindTheGapps and everything works perfectly with AA. So it doesn't seem to be an Android version issue but rather LOS 18.1 itself or MindTheGapps. Maybe by using other gapps you'll get it work (I didn't try).
Hi,
I've upgraded my 9 y.o. Galaxy Note 4 to LineageOS 18.1 recently and was very happy with it until I stumbled on the same problem.
Android Auto claimed to have phone permission in the Application settings but the permission was impossible to change (mandatory/grayed out) and the unit in my Civic 10 was showing the same error as pw44's.
Having no UI to fiddle with, I thought maybe that can be tweaked with some ADB command, and after some reading here:
How to Grant Permissions Using ADB in Android
It can be tricky to grant advanced permissions to Android apps without rooting your phone. Here's how you can use ADB to achieve it.

and there:
Listing permissions of Android application via adb
Using adb, how can I find out the which permissions an Android application requires? Because I want to display the permissions of multiple applications on different devices, viewing them in Google...

I came up with a command that fixed it:
adb shell pm grant com.google.android.projection.gearhead android.permission.CALL_PHONE
Obviously, I googled that exact command and found confirmation here:
