Is XiaoMiTool V2 trustworthy? - Xiaomi Redmi 8 Questions & Answers

Downloaded XiaoMiTool V2 Version 20.7.28 (Beta) from here:
https://xiaomitools.com/xiaomitool-v2-easy-installation-tool-2/
I've installed a new ROM (MIUI Global 12.5.2.0 QCNEUXM) via this tool on my Redmi 8 olive.
Is this a trustworthy source to flash a ROM from? Meaning the ROM being tampered or similar shady stuff.

honeslty its very hard to tell which xiaomi tools are official since not all of em are listed on their official sites. for example that tool you just said
apart from their official unlock tool the flash tools arent listed
if you want something official and safe you could use googles adb|fastb which requires an unlocked bl

no way to relock bootloader in chinese device with global rom?

there is no chance to get a workaround to relock the bootloader in a chinese device running global rom?
Probably not.... Maybe someone make a hack... but I had Yotaphone and there was option to install RU (global) rom - problem was only with no supporting bands and hacked baseband to partially fix it. But here is the problem... damn bootloader - maybe some one will be able to hack and replace vitaminised bootloader with official ?
Development is still weak, we do not have kernel source code, which is a bit difficult but it should appear in the future.
well someone has found a workaround for the Mi Mix 2S?

This is not workaround for the question of the treatd!
I also bought chnina version with global rom and unlocked bootloader
Misled by the seller showing large photo with official global rom, but in description with small lethers:
OS ------------ MIUI, Unlocked Bootloader, Official Global ROM, China Version, Support OTA Update.
(Inquiry is necessary if want to reflash firmware)
I`m still waiting delivery, but after I red what I bought I start looking for solution for relock bootloader with Global Rom. So far, no one manage to make it. As @gugugrp said, we have to wait for solution in future (how long, no one knows).
I have one question too, is it posible OTA Update of the global rom already instaled without locking bootloader?
Hi, why do you want to relock BL with global rom?
I have a CN version with unlocked BL and global rom, but it seems useless to me to lock it, or not?

Some apps don`t work at all or don`t work properly or need third party apps to work. Also, if you use the phone as work one, you would prefer OTA update This is my persional opinion of course. If you are about to use custom roms and to play with the phone, it is beter to leave it unlocked.
The problem is not the unlocked bootloader, but the fact that the MiUI 9 stable play store is not sertificated for this deviece... . You also have OTA with the official global and unlocked bootloader.

Google pay does not work with unlocked bootloader for sure (as far as I know). I red some threads for worckaround with third party apps, but....at your own risk. I`m not a dev, just wanted simple phone with OTA update and decently security. If the problem is only in MIUI 9 and when MIUI 10 Global Official comes out fixes this, I`ll be ok, but anyway...would like to know I can lock bootloader with global rom
That would be my exact question in 12 days. Let me know if you know
Same situation for me, using the Chinese Rom instead which allows to lock the bootloader. I will move to the global one when (or if) this could be done...

I doubt xiaomi will ever rollback on the policy, however if the certification on google play is what u are concerned about, installing an older version of magisk and using the universal magisk patcher can mask the unlocked bootloader

As I said I am using the chinese ROM to avoid having the bootloader unlocked. Therefore I had to install the google play myself . Inside the google play settings, the play protect certification field says: Device is not certified.
I found somewhere that this is the reason why NFC payments do not work.
Do you think that the trick with the magisk old version will fix this?
Other than this the Chinese ROM version is working perfect!

Need for flashing EU rom?

Hello
I'm about to purchase an Mi 9 for my son. I can only buy it online, since no physical stores have it where i live. It's not officially released where i live. I think that the phone will come with the global rom.
I saw in a youtube video, that the phone will drain battery in standby mode. Since there is a bug that make the phone try to connect to both the Chineese and the European networks. It could be fixed by installing the EU rom. There was also many other good reasons to flash the Eu rom. Like for instance a cleaner firmware with less bloat. Is this true?
Can i flash an Eu rom on a global version without unlocking the booloader?
If I unlock the bootloader to flash the EU rom. Can it then be locked again? (Because of Netflix)
Thanks
Yes its true that EU Rom is debloated and have fixed Networks
But You can Not lock the bootloader in the EU Rom.
And yes Netflix is Widevine Level 3 but i dont know Who can See a diffference on a Smartphone Display. Btw as i know You can Download Movies in HD and watch them. Only streaming is Not HD
Thanks
Just called support from the web shop. He told me that, it is a EU version.

There are two ROMs that I think you are confusing. There's an EU version of the stock ROM which is virtually identical to the Global ROM and there is a custom EU ROM which is probably what you saw in the YouTube video.
The custom EU ROM is reverse engineered from the China ROM rather than the Global. It was originally created to provide a non-Chinese ROM for Xiaomi phones that didn't have an official Global ROM.
The EU ROM has always had serious bugs on every single phone where I have ever flashed it. You should go to the official website for that ROM and look at the discussion/support thread and see if that's still the case.
The EU ROM you are referring to is a custom ROM. You need to unlock the bootloader to flash it and frequently you need to use an unnoficial version of TWRP to do that. People often brick their phones using unofficial TWRP recoveries. Permanently bricking a phone is also way more common on newer Treble compliant phones than it was in the old days so even if you have experience flashing custom ROMs you can still brick your phone and turn it into an expensive paperweight.
I would do more research outside of XDA if you are interested in EU ROM because there is no support for that ROM here.

Redmi 9 with NFC - which ROM can I download?

Finding the right ROM is confusing as there are many variants of the Redmi 9.
I want to unlock and root my phone but I understand I need to find the right MIUI ROM so I can patch the boot.img.
I have a Redmi 9 with NFC and these are the current details direct from my phone:
MIUI Version: Miui Global 11.0.9 Stable V11.0.9.0(QJCEUXM)
Android Version: 10 QP1A.190711.020
Model: M2004J19AG
The closest I can find is for the Redmi 9 EEA
https://c.mi.com/thread-3225794-1-0.html
Does this ROM support NFC?
If you look closely at the wording in the download link, this ROM is for codename "Lancelot" phones
http://bigota.d.miui.com/V11.0.9.0.QJCEUXM/miui_LANCELOTEEAGlobal_V11.0.9.0.QJCEUXM_239fd3ba13_10.0.zip
However I am a little confused as my understanding is phones with code name "Lancelot" do not have NFC but my model (M2004J19AG) with NFC is code name "Galahad". Can someone please clarify if this is the correct ROM or which ROM I can download?
I have the same device, ive downloaded the last rom version with updater and have used this for root.

Thanks, I was able to go to System Update on the phone and found the option to re-download ROM. I didn't realise you could download the same ROM if you were already at that version.
I found the rom file in the "downloaded_rom" folder in the phone and it has the same name as the one I found on Mi.com (in my original post):
miui_LANCELOTEEAGlobal_V11.0.9.0.QJCEUXM_239fd3ba13_10.0.zip
So this one for the Redmi 9 EEA must support my model as NFC is working.

Question Clear eu.rom installation and root method?

Everyone here seems excited so there's alot of different information floating around. Anyone who owns the china mi 11 ultra please give description on how you successfully installed eu rom. I see there's a twrp listed on the eu site, is there currently a proper root method?

Question How to root Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro?

I want to root my Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro but didn't really manage to find any guide here on how to do it.
I rooted all my devices until now so I know the general drill.
As far as I know I must get TWRP and install it on the device using the fastboot adb tool and then install magisk from TWRP.
Is there any generally known guide that works I can use?
I am afraid mostly of getting the wrong TWRP version.
At the moment I only unlocked my bootloader from the developer settings.
Model: M2101K6G
MIUI Version: MIUI Global 12.5.1 Stable, 12.5.1.0(RKFEUOR)
Android Version: 11 RKQ1.200826.002
Security update: 2021-09-01
Baseband version: .3.c5-00123-0915_2330_283cc94d60
Kernel version: 4.14.180-perf-gc5bece796cb5
Purchased in Romania
I also noticed there are multiple versions of the device(sweet, mojito...etc), what is the difference between them?
EDIT1: I found out how to find the codename of my device, it's sweet
For anyone wondering how to do it, just install Device info HW and check under System the value of Device
