Anybody getting this popup error "you are offline, please check your network connection". getting this popup hundresds of time in a day. please help.. attaching screenshots
Hi Lavesh05,
I know this will sound nuts, but check your date/time settings within Android (same thing happens on a Windows PC when connected to servers/domains.... however I'm used to that!!!)
However must admit, this caught me out on Android and was driving me nuts for days, as couldnt workout why I was getting. Checked everything, released/reset everything, tried to look for network tools to flush the settings and drove me bonkers on a device thats normally fine/reliable.
Then after more Googling, found a post that said check date/time, and sure enough it was out of sync and that was the issue.... I think I had "automatic date/time" and it was still out. So as long as it is what it should be, you should be good....
Cheers, Lister

I've been using Slick IM for a few weeks now, and today when I went to check my instant messages Slick locked up. I rebooted my ATT Tilt and now every time I try to connect to any of my im services through Slick I get the message "Error! Auth failed." I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times and still no luck. Any help?
Feel free to contact me on aim - JPAY2002.

I thought I was the only one. I got the error and re-installed slick. Then I was on for a little bit and got booted and now I'm getting that error again. I was thinking of changing the login address from "login.oscar.aol.com", but I don't know of any others.
Anyone else having problems with Slick?
Yeah. It's doing the same thing to me.
It was working normally earlier today, but around 9 or so, it started giving me that weird error.
I used slick for several months and I can only remember 1 particular reason why I was receiving that error. This may sound weird but try it out, you need to have a data connection open previous to starting the application.

yes, I've experienced your issue. for some reason, slick doesnt communicate with the OS to turn on the data connection OR to keep it open (if you have your data connection set to turn off after a certain length of inactivity).. but Ive also had this AUTH FAILED issue and ive made sure my data connection is already active
Hi all,
First of all thanks for all the tips I've found here.
I've got this problem. I have unchecked the "Turn on available network notification" checkbox in the settings->connections->wifi menu but these notifications are still raising at the today screen. Even when I hit "Don't show this message again" button it is still notificating me about available wifi networks.
Can you please tell where is the registry key for this, so that I'll check it if it's really turned off?
Thanks & Regards,

Yup I got this issue too - I was just searching to see if anyone posted about it before starting a new post myself.
I hadn't known about the setting in the WiFi menu so have set that now but I must have selected the "Don't show this message again" option about 3 times per day for weeks now!
There must be someway to stop this without having to deactivate WiFi.
I logged on tonight, to make a post asking about that. as couldnt find anything via searching. I'm glad i'm not the only person its annoying.
If i wanna connect to a network, i know how to find available wifi's. I dont need to be notified about loads of secured networks which i will never connect too. Being told only of unsecure ones, that would be more handy.
Driving in small towns it often finds several at the same time from neearby houses
I too have this problem.
I tick the option saying "do not notify" and yet I still get the pop ups when driving through town
I have an XDA Ignito with original ROM, if it makes a difference
still nothing, does this only bother / effect us few people? Just flashed device to another ROM (dutty's) and it still does it on that too.
I have the same issue and I hate it (It works untill a soft reset though!)!
Other issue I have is that is also displays all the sim contacts....after a reboot the setting is and all sim contacts are displayed again
its a problem with all versions of wm.
sim contacts problem is the case with wm6.1
About once every minute I receive a message on my screen saying “ New Connection Setup database found. Do you want to install it?”
I push yes and it downloads about 14% stops and says server error.
My question is what to do with this? How do I disable?
Thanks for the help!!!

I have exactly the same problem. Been driving me nuts Whatever I do, whether I am on HSDPA or WIFI connection, it never gets further than 66% (that's the max I ever obtained) - I've tried at least 20 times and would really like to know if there's a way to get rid of this thing. I tried disabling the auto configuration, but I can confirm (as per above) that this does not work on the Touch HD.
Naturally, HTC refers you to Microsoft. I haven't contacted Microsoft because I thought I'd first find out where this comes from.
Any ideas/tips/solutions!???????????
Thanks!
This thing also bugging me alot...disabling the auto configuration doesn't work...May be some know any tweak for that...
I happened to me. I managed to download the database connecting the phone to a desktop with DSL connection. It installed something (I don't know what) and since then I don't have the messages anymore.

This is being discussed there, maybe some posts can help you.

So far there's no working solution for this. Some people have managed to download the database, the phone rebooted itself (keep this in mind, because you'll lose any open and unsaved data) and a new connection rom version now shows up, without any visible impact.
But most of the people just cant download the whole database (me included). Seems to be related to the fact that many people are trying to download at the same time. Maybe try doing it at some wicked hours when the load is lower.

yes, that's true.... I got also the same problem, but fortunately I was wide awake at 5 a.m. and my HD manage to finish complete database download, after which phone auto rebooted and now there is no more message “ New Connection Setup database found. Do you want to install it?”.
after this update I didn't notice any significantly changes ....
Everyone connect the phone to activesync using a pc that has internet connection and then press update on the phone. It will use your pcs internet to download it and it will go successfull.
I tried to download with my HSDPA and my WIFI but no luck. As soon as connected on activesync it started to download and finished 100%
A few days ago I started getting this message on my diamond that says:
DataBase Update Check
It may cost you data connection fee to check if new database update for Connection Setup. Would you like to proceed?
How do I get rid of this message?
Updating?...
Not sure if this is the same thing but have you tried:
Start/settings/connections/connection setup/menu - then untick "Enable Auto Configuration"
Again, no idea but it was just a thought.

Yeah, forgot to mention.
It has 2 options; Yes and No.
I choose yes, and it comes back again in 3-4 minutes.

Just tried this to no avail
I have been getting the same thing for the last 3 days, since coming back from holiday abroad, and it's very annoying, I never got that before, I thought it had something to do with the fact that i'd been roaming, but i see that other people are starting to get it at about the same time, could it be a network thing?
I've got the same issue since a couple of days... it's really annoying!
Is there a solution yet?
Same Issue with automatic update
I also got this issue since a couple of days! I have already stated it here but also still no answer yet.

Any support is highly appreciated!
I had this like 12 times while driving for 2hrs and using tomtom, the message would pop up over tomtom and take several presses to get it to disappear then often dumping me back to the HTC start page forcing me to faff with menus while driving to get tomtom back up, by the end of the trip i was nearly ready to throw the phone under the next lorry that passed me on the motorway
Really pi**ed off with this one
Hi,
I have same problem and it started when I proceed connection setup application. Now when I update weather or make a phone call that same note apears database update check.....
I did try soft reset also no help.. Any solved this problem?
Same here, pops up over my TomTom while driving - really annoying!
It happens every time I make a call.
Isn't there any one who knows how to get rid off this message?
Seems like this message pops up each time you try to connect to EDGE. So anytime the weather updates this message pops up. Very annoying!
Same problem here for at least one month already...
I performed a hard reset of my phone, it seemed to be ok, but since i installed Windows Live application, and set Hotmail to check emails once an hour, it has reappeared. Really annoying thing. Looks like everyone has been affected by it and it has only been happening for a few weeks. Something must have happened to trigger it on everyone's phones. We need to get to the core of it. I have been through all my Connections Settings trying to find a way to turn it off, but couldn't find anything yet. It would be great to get rid of this annoyance.
What ROM do you have? I have DUttys 3.1....
i get this on dutty 3.3. think its only started popping up recently. im on o2 in uk
I'm on Dutty's 3.5 (I think). Will revert back to Swiftblade's during the weekend, I'll post my findings then.
and I am on duttys 3.3, could this be connected to duttys rom?
I've also got Dutty's 3.3 ROM but have had it working fine before this message started coming up. I'm on T-mobile UK.
Hi everyone. Been a long time lurker and gained a lot of info recentely on the HTC One...which ultimately led me to buy it and it was delivered today! So I'm a happy bunny ...till I tried to get Sync Manager to transfer stuff over from my iphone 4S.
Unfortunately, the "More" option (along with "Files") is greyed out so I can't do the transfer. I'm using Win 7 64bit. Does anyone know what could be causing the problem? There was an error message that came up during the installation but I just ok'd it and it still installed....can't remember exactly what it said though.
I'm gonna try uninstalling it and trying again, but in the meantime if anyone has come across the same problem, maybe you could help?
Many thanks.
EDIT: tried to unistall it and it refuses to do so. Dialog box comes up saying "Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file location exists and is writable".
EDIT2: Actually I think I got it to work! I didn't realise I had to have the One connected at the same time as the iphone...rookie mistake!

Thanks! Didn't realize the One had to be plugged in either! Was following the steps on the phone verbatim and you would think they'd mention that too! haha
