I got received a Nexus 6 the other day and can't unlock it because it wants the last account user to sign in. But know one knows what it is. I tried to wipe data/factory reset from what motorola support said but it still brings me into the screen asking for the email address. Any way to bypass this?
Factory Reset Protection is what you're dealing with. It's virtually impossible to bypass, meaning you have to know the information for the last account used on the device. Don't ask Google for help, because they won't provide any.

So there is absolutely nothing at all that can be done? The only thing I don't have is the account info so there must be something that can just completely wipe it of its memories.

Correct. Unless you know the account info, you will be unable to access the device. As for completely wiping the memory, that can't be done via software otherwise FRP would have no teeth.

Alright, thanks.
Can't he install a custom ROM then NOT flash gapps? Hoping it wouldn't come up with setup, then tick OEM unlock that way it wontask for FRP.

His bootloader is locked, and as such he can't flash anything. If the bootloader was unlocked, FRP would have been disabled and this discussion wouldn't have taken place.

Isn't the boot loader the little menu with the tons of technical data/options?
@Masonator_89: Yep.
What do you mean it is locked? Like it is operational and everything.
@Masonator_89: The bootloader being locked doesn't prevent the bootloader from functioning, but does prevent you from making changes to the device. Take a careful look in the bootloader data at the bottom of the screen. It reports its status (locked or unlocked).
To unlock the bootloader you have to boot into Android, dig into the hidden developer options menu in settings, toggle the OEM Unlocking switch, then enter the bootloader to actually unlock the bootloader. Since you are dealing with FRP, you can't get into Android to toggle OEM Unlocking so the bootloader can be unlocked.
With an unlocked bootloader FRP is disabled. Since FRP is functioning, the bootloader must be locked.

Thanks for clarifying!
Incorrect information. I unlocked my bootloader on Day 1. I have had this situation arise after a year when I did a reset and this is what I did to bypass it (may not work for everyone). Haven't tried this on Nougat but it worked previously and saved me lots of headache. I factory reset phone again and when setup came up, I tapped the 4 corners to bypass setup. Then I just added an account. Like I said, your mileage may vary. Unlocking a bootloader does not necessarily prevent this from happening. I think it's stupid af. I had to change my dang password because google told me via email that someone tried to log into my account from california or some shizzz. BAM! locked out. Hope this helps
If you do some google searching... It says a few places that OEM unlocking disables any google locking... So, just to clarify I'm pretty sure it is possible with our devices. Not so much for my mothers G4.

I dispute your assertion that the information is incorrect, especially as other members have reported that FRP was disabled when the bootloader was unlocked.
As for the old (Android 2.x-era) trick of bypassing setup, I seriously doubt Google would have left that unpatched. If that were true then Rootjunky would have never needed to post "how-to-bypass" videos, none of which utilize that trick.

That first video link (which showed me another more in depth video) really actually absolutely helped!!!! I'm absolutely amazed! Very much thanks to you (and everyone who said it couldn't be done)
@Masonator_89: Since there was no way to know what version of Android was on the device, I have to assume the latest version, which is pretty well nailed down. You've reminded me however not to get involved in Factory Reset Protection discussions in the future.
XDA moderators and staff don't agree with my stance on this, but bypassing FRP only encourages thieves instead of discouraging them. I do not believe discussion of how to bypass FRP should be permitted on site, as the entire intent of FRP is to prevent what you accomplished: getting into the device so it can be reset. Since it's impossible to know whether the person asking is on the up and up, I have to assume that the person asking doesn't actually own the device.
The only legitimate methods of defeating FRP are to have the seller remove the account from the device, or for the seller to provide you with the username and password used to get into the device. Providing any other method of accessing the device when FRP is in play opens up the poster to being an accessory to a potential crime.
I understand that this position will lead to a lot of "collateral damage" since perfectly honest people like you seem to be will get caught in the crossfire. I apologize for that, but it is a cost I'm willing to pay to ensure my ethics remain intact in spite of XDA's policies on the matter.
RE: Huawei's bootloader codes
Currently I have a stock non-rooted EVA-L19 which is currently out of warranty.
I'm planning on rooting it soon (I'm unable to download required files due to bad internet) and with the recent changes in Huawei's bootloader code requests, is it possible to generate the unlock bootloader code now then hold unto it till the day I decided to root the phone?

There is one and single bootloader code for unlocking and relocking. It is bound to your device ID, it has no timestamp or expiration day. Keep it on the safe place, once you get it, you can reuse it for unlocking/relocking/unlockung as many times as you want, whenever you want - for your particular phone.
Be aware, unlocking or relocking triggers hard reset with wiping Internal memory. For hard reset you must be on stock TOM, unrooted, with stock eRecovery - that is, if you ever want to relock (or want to initiate hard reset), you will have to unroot before that, return from custom ROM to stock, and re-flash stock eRecovery before relocking/hard resetting (otherwise you risk to brick the phone).
^ thanks for the reply. I thought unlock codes were generated randomly similar to keygens
I went ahead and generated the code.
I'm aware that unlocking the bootloader triggers the hard reset, learnt it the hard way on my nexus 7 2012 yrs ago -_-
Thanks!
Hey all,
So I've heard that Huawei has stopped giving out unlock codes? I tried to go to their website to apply for it (giving my IMEI etc) and instead of giving me a code it just says 'please contact Huawei for questions'
I'm trying to set up project treble with it if I can figure it out.
Thanks!
You can with dc unlocker. You Just need to pay 5 euros and they Will unlock boatloader
I got my code on 08/06/2018
In the morning at 7:05 AM IST on 08/06/2018 i applied for my bootloader unlock code and i got it easily. BTW did you cross check other pre-selected options? Like 1st one asking EMUI version? Maybe that's the reason of you not getting unlock code.
Try again or Use the mailing method(I don't know much about but you have to mail the support to obtain the unlocking code and it might take upto 2-3 days)
Just got my code for bootloader unlock directly from Huawei no issues, although i will not be using straight away i have kept it in a safe place.

I tried through their portal, and via email. This was their response:
We do apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing, however, it is our duty to inform you that Huawei Canada does not provide codes to unlock the bootloader, root the device or provides any tool/code to modify the phone internally. We kindly inform you that this action can potentially "brick" the phone or in other words, renders the phone completely unusable and voids the warranty service and device support. We have no control over how unlocking the bootloader or rooting the phone, will affect your device.
We understand that you might be able to start the request to get the bootloader unlock code from our EMUI website, regrettably, your device does not qualify to receive this code, since the Huawei Canada warranty policy limits us to do not provide this code in order to prevent future inconveniences to our consumers.
This bootloader unlocks code, it is just limited to be available for certain specific regions.
We are aware that you can find unofficial information over the internet, about how to root or unlock your phone and due to our Security and Privacy Policies, we cannot provide you these codes or tools, for that reason, we cannot assist you in that matter.
We highly recommend you refrain from taking these actions on your device.

I read the instructions for unlock of Huawei mobile, it requires you erase the Huawei id.
How does that affect warranty?
Can you reapply the old id if necessary?

No, you can't. DC-Unlocker neither autodetects the phone nor is it in the manual selection list. Also https://www.dc-unlocker.com/supported_models_1/huawei_phones says no bootloader unlocking service for said phone.
On the other hand Huawei support gave me this reply (translated by me) :
Hello [censored],
sadly the bootloader unlock code service has been terminated completely. I'm really sorry but I can't help you.
Best wishes,

Thanks for this, it appears to be the only bootloader unlock method currently available. Have you actually done this yourself? Can you (or anyone else) confirm that it works?
By the "instructions", I assume you mean the tutorial at http://hcu-client.com/read-bootloader-code-huawei-phone/. They seem clear, but they don't tell you how to actually use the code to unlock the bootloader! Can someone please point me to instructions how to do that? Thank you.

Yep, I mean the tutorial.
I have used this method a good few times, all successfully .
Dc-Unlocker/HCU allows direct unlock on a lot of models and gives the unlock code on others.
To use this code, put phone in "fastboot" mode and issue the command :-
fastboot oem unlock code
Phone should factory re-set (erasing all user data) with an unlocked bootloader.

I can confirm. There's just one thing to note: Deinstall the adb drivers from Microsoft and use the ones shipped with HiSuite. Else there will be no virtual COM port and as a result the tool won't find the phone. [EDIT]And don't try to use the tool in a VM. Sadly it refuses to work there.[/EDIT]
Can someone please point me to instructions how to do that?

1) Enable Settings > Developer Options > Enable OEM Unlock
2) Enable Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging
3) Turn off phone
4) Press volume down key while connecting the phone to USB to boot the phone into fastboot
5) Execute "fastboot oem unlock <unlocking code>" on the PC the phone is connected to (install adb and fastboot first)
P.S. Many thanks to @Sparkrite for pointing us in the right direction!

Thank you so much. With this method I successfully unlocked the bootloader of my Huawei Honor 9 Lite. No problems, just one oddity – the HCU software warns you that reading the bootloader unlock code will wipe your phone, and you have to acknowledge that to continue. This, of course, is not the case: it is using the code to unlock the bootloader that causes the phone to do a low-level reset. Presumably a mistake in the wording.

I used HCU to read the bootloader unlock code before I saw your message, and so had not uninstalled the Microsoft ADB drivers. I had already installed HiSuite. It still worked for me, so presumably it is not necessary to uninstall the Microsoft ADB drivers unless HCU doesn't recognize the phone.

Many thanks to those who contributed to this thread. I had no trouble unlocking the bootloader of my device using HCU after purchasing credit from DC-unlocker. At only 4 euros it was worth the money. The posted instructions were clear. Once HCU provided the code all I had to do was send it to the phone using fastboot..
Is it possible to unlock the bootloader immediately WITHOUT waiting for a week? It says I can unlock after 168 hours. That's very annoying.

Hello, in my case in December 2021 it was the first time I tried it and it went well, you have to strictly follow the instructions (make sure before you start that you have the correct connection with the PC in my case with W10-64b, the telephone connected, recognized, with ADB mode and "Unlock bootloader" activated and the ADB environment and tools running on the PC) and be patient since unlocking the bootloader with the Unlock Tool has 2 stages (the second I think I remember is the "critical unlock") so you have to let it go to the end. Once the bootloader is unlocked, when you restart the phone you will get a message that will always appear when you restart it, warning you that the bootloader is unlocked. Beware that by doing so the phone will be reset to factory settings and all user data will be lost so make sure to make a backup before. At the end of the unlock process you will also be asked if you want to donate through PayPal any amount of money voluntarily to the developers of the Unlock tool/techmesto. In short, the key is to read the instructions very well and follow them exactly. After the unlocking of the bootloader and the installation of the Treble you can now put any custom ROM. I hope the whole process goes well for you.

Thank you very much for the detailed advice. If I can bother you for one more thing, there's multiple Treble threads/guides on here and some seem (!) outdated or conflicting. Could you maybe point me to one guide/thread you recommend? I have the Nokia 8 TA-1012 here.
I've flashed and rooted maybe half a dozen phones over the years while always just lurking and reading here but in this case, it seems so much riskier and complicated, so I appreciate any and all advice.
