In advanced settings then Labs you find several methods to make applications go into popup mode.
Like sliding from topleft or top-right or by a handle.
If I use these functions to make youtube go to popup the player almost always displays a black video screen in the popup window.
I have youtube premium and the newpipe Like mode does work but I want the full app of youtube in popup.
Sadly video in popup gets black but audio continues.
Workaround is going to recent applications overview and while youtube is paused select popup.
I found others that observed this long ago reported bug.

That's one minor issue for me
Hmm, I somewhat have this problem, too. Google Play Music has lock screen controls, but Amazon Music does not. Haven't tried any other of the apps.
I only tried Spotify, I can pull down the notification screen and see a small widget to control but I was hoping to have the full lock screen with the album art
the default music app has lock screen controls. (see attached screenshot)
i checked it with PIN security screen lock & Pattern security screen lock
I have this issue as well. I tested it with Spotify. My finding is that once a notification is "read/view" it will not show up in the lock screen anymore. Once the song finishes and switch to a new song, the notification comes back. If I starts Spotify and stay in the app the notification is available on the lock screen.
I decided to install "next" lock screen by Microsoft while I thinker with modifying the framework and system ui.
I got a Spotify notification widget in my lockscreen (i still wish it was a full screen album artwork) . Go to settings, notification center, notice management and then find Spotify and make it important... I also noticed I changed other apps like Instagram and Fb messenger and other ones were listed as other. So I changed it
If you go into Spotify then go to another app your notification widget will disappear until the next song.
Edit:
If you're rooted you can use my modded SystemUI apk if you use some of the popular music streaming app..

Suddenly these pop-ups, like the Facebook messenger app started shooting up and nothing in my notification settings work. I've searched high and low and it only shows Facebook's way of disabling them. So annoying! Then when I tap on it it opens a mini screen.
If its these small floating bubble things. Then it's the smart popup feature, go to settings --> advanced features --> smart popup and disable every app that is enabled. Then the annoying floating bubble will stop on notification.
Thank you. That was the only seeing I didn't find.
Hey all,
I don't know it's an sgs, android 9 or the youtube app itself issue, but after install youtube on my new s10e, notifications from subscriptions begun to display as "floating notification" (like chat head in facebook messenger).
After pressing it, youtube opens video in pop-up window. Is there any way to disable it (didn't find any option for that in app notification settings)? It's really annoying for me.
Thanks a lot
It's smart pop up view or something like that. Search via Finder in settings and disable with a toggle
Thanks mate! Problem solved!
Hi all,
I bought a Xiaomi 9 SE a while back, coming from iPhone. I was under the impression that everything was tweakable with android, but i can't figure out how to adjust the pop-up notifications from whatsapp in any way. Currently whenever i receive a whatsapp message my screen turns on and shows a huge rectangle in the middle of the screen showing the message with two buttons beneath it reading "reply" and "close". Then i can scroll to the right and left, showing the next message and previous messages in case i received more than one. This sucks for a number of reasons.
The rectangle looks like it was invented in 1999. It is so obnoxious; huge, ugly with no way around it. It stays on your lock screen blocking everything else until you've closed it manually. When i (feel forced to) close the preview screen (because i want to use my phone for another purpose) there is no way of retrieving the previews of the messages, i have to open the app instead.
The time stamps are missing. I have to figure out the chronology of messages myself by looking at the number in the upper right corner (1 of 13, 2 of 13 etc.) but even then i don't know if the message was sent an hour ago or a minute ago (and even then, i don't know if message 13 was the last one or message 1). Besides, this 'scrolling' to the left and right is so time consuming and unclear compared to being able to look at all messages beneath one another with the first one at the top and the last one at the bottom in one quick view (as with my old iphone).
Phone companies are always nagging about protecting privacy and therefor not showing the content of preview messages of whatsapp, i never understood this when i was on iphone and the previewed messages were subtle, vague and small - with the longer messages needing to be expanded by a swipe down with the finger to fully view (in case of texts longer than a couple of words). But now i get it, these android preview messages light up the screen in a way you can not NOT look at it and the content of the messages is right there in the middle to read for everyone. Also with iPhone i remember the screen would only light up with the first message you received from someone and have some sort of cooldown timer on it before the screen turned on again, with my xiaomi every message someone sends makes the screen light up. In case of people who send a lot of messages in a row (instead of making 1 long message) that means the phone screen in turned on for minutes on end, super annoying and distracting.
Am i totally missing something or is this just the way whatsapp preview messages work with android? Is there any option somewhere hidden to change the form of the whatsapp preview messages to something less obnoxious? Or any third party app for that matter, as this is driving me crazy.
I have MIUI 11 since a day or two now, and was hoping this would change things, but so far i haven't figured it out.
Thanks in advance all!
Yes there is. Just disable the so called toast messages. And you can also disable lock screen messages. And of course disable whatsapp message notification at all!
For the first thing. Whatsapp>settings>notifications>use high priority notifications
For the second check your android AND launcher specific lockscreen settings.
For the third option check the App permissions. or just modify the appearance of the message the time it is there. Grab it left or right and then hit the settings gear for notification display permission (I hope it is called like this).

hi, thanks for the answer. I think this does not solve my issue if i understand everything correctly. To be clear: i WANT notifications on my lock screen, just not in the form of the idiotic big rectangle. I want the more subtle, smaller, elongated 'balloons'. Strangly enough when i press "close" on the previewed messages on my Lock screen they disappear and for a second turn into such a small 'balloon', only to disappear straight away then.
The "use high priority notifications" gives a little pop-up at the top of the screen that disappears after like 2 seconds. This is no problem for me.
Under "ambient display and lock screen" settings you can choose for the screen whether to light up or not when a message is received. Although i'd like there to be some sort of cooldown to prevent my phone from lighting up for longer periods on end or all the time, this is not the biggest issue either. (Apparently this overruled by something else as setting it to "do nothing - when notifications come and the screen is off" does not work, it still lit up when receiving a whatsapp message)
Under "notifications" settings you can select "lock screen notifications", "floating notifications" and "notifications badges" - so i go to 'lock screen notifications' where i can select 'format' (sounds promising!), but this only gives me the options to:
- show notification content
- show notifications but hide content
- don't show lock screen notifications
No option to change the style of the Lock screen notifications frustratingly.
EDIT: i may have just found the answer myself ... turn off "pop-up notifications" in the whatsapp settings. This way you still get notifications, but no longer the horrible big ones in the middle of the screen

Hello,
After disabling all the knuckle actions in Settings - accessibility features - motion control , the blue trail still pop up randomly.
It's very disappointing in games as the inputs are not registered randomly as the blue trail appears.
I disabled smart screenshot and screen recording features in the settings, but that blue line keeps on popping. Split screen feature is also disabled. How can I get rid of this feature for good?

As much as i know that should be enough but u can also add your games in game centar, settings > apps > app assistant > game space and add your games there it has some nice functions and that might help you with your problem.
