is it normal that with the network with 5g activated the mobile phone goes slower and slower than when it is in 4g shooting mode? the display settings are set to fixed 60hz.

Have you tried going in security app > config > battery optimization and disabling "5G battery saving"?

Hey guys,
I was wondering what the difference between GSM and UMTS is, according to the settings of the LG Optimus 2X I can select GMS or UMTS or both.
Couldn't find the answer anywhere so I'm asking it here.
How do you guys have the settings set?
Using T-mobile btw (Netherlands).
Thanks in advantage
Hi,
I think gsm mode is called as 2G, umts as 3/3.5G ... 2G mode is save your battery but the data traffic will be slower. You can switch between them in settings/wireless settings/mobile networks/ and check or uncheck the only 2G network (or something similar, I've tried to translate the menu names from Hungarian). However, you can find a simple app in the Market to do it easier:
2G-3G OnOff (CurveFish)
Yes, 2G mode saves battery and offers slower download speeds. You can reach decent speed with EDGE @ 20-25-30 k/s. So If you don't need the speed of 3G, you can set the phone to GSM only mode.
On the other hand with 3.5G you can reach very good speeds (800k/s here in Bulgaria), but it drains the battery faster, even there are no active transfers.
So basically what you are both telling me is, just put the phone on GSM/UMTS (automode). Because I often use 3G/HSDPA.
Definitely!
My previous Android had the option of switching to 2g only network to save battery life. But this is not available on Galaxy note.
I have noticed that stand by battery usage spikes considerably on 3g network.
I don't need 3g speeds on stand by but i want to stay connected to receive regular updates.
Regrading battery usage in standby :
on 2g only i use to lose about 5% battery overnight ( about 8-10 hours) = less than 1% per hour ( I am more than happy with that rate)
on 3g my battery drain rate is 8% per hour???
Any idea guys?

I know that would work but switching over to GSM only and selecting networks seems to take to much time for my liking
Can't we somehow have the old system where I can just check or uncheck "2g only network"?

You could look in the Play Store for an APN widget this woud disable the data connection when you don't want to use it.
I updated my phone yesterday with firmware provided in asus website.
Now I'm facing this wierd issue, My network gets restarting like every hour. I can't play pubg as well as stream as i am getting this network issue.
BTW my both networks are in roaming and in 4g with volte enabled
For precise the problem is like "disabling and enabling both sim cards at the same time".
If anyone have solution write that down.
Thanks in advance

I'm facing this problem in android 10 only.
Also my ping in pubg increased from 60 in android 9 to 170 in android 10
Edit: i tried network reset also but nothing works. I'm from india and I'm using Jio and Airtel. I found that DSDS (Dual Sim Dual standby) is enabled (in engineering mode *#*#4636#*#*) and i cant turn that off.
I'm getting this popup "changing this needs restarting the phone", when I gave ok, Nothing happens. When I restart my mobile manually DSDS is still enabled.
I'm thinking about going back to pie, but I am too lazy to back up everything
Downgraded to android 9. Everything is smooth. 40 ping in pubg never goes over 80. No random Network restart.no bugs.
I believe there is a 4G bug with A10.. I have the issue where mine switches from Band 3 to Band 1, and the network speed basically halves causing stutter and lag and sometimes games drop out with no internet as it makes the switch.. The network priority is supposed to keep on the fastest band (as it does on A9) but it switches to the slower band in A10 for some reason... Currently Anders_Asus (asus tech support) is looking at it. I've sent several logs showing the issue..
To diagnose the issue - download speedtest app, then put the phone in airplane mode. Deactivate airplane mode and run speedtest repeatedly - you should see the high speeds for around 2-3 minutes - but after this time, you will notice the ROG2 switches band to the slower band, and your speed drops dramatically.
If you can replicate this issue, I am very interested to forward this Anders @ Asus as well to provide further backup to the issue.

Not thinking of updating to A10 again, No stable network, not able to turn off DSDS. Also, I don't like full-screen gestures on A10 as some third party apps don't natively support it. Waiting for android 11 maybe..
Hi. I want to use my poco m3 pro 5g as a cheap home 5g wifi router. Is there a way to force this phone to only connect to 5g and not fallback to 4g/LTE etc?
Thank you in advance.

mtk engineering mode
u can use dialer type *#*#3646633#*#*
in band mode i can choose sim1/sim2 than there are so many bands to choose included only 5g
easy way is go to Settings > About phone > All specs > tap Internal storage multiple times > Phone information (1 or 2 depend on your sim) > change NR/LTE/GSM/WCDMA to NR only
Thank you very much.
*#*#4636#*#*
Set NR only
If I do this is in my iqoo 7 it perfectly staying in 5g but i can't make call or recieve the call... please help

I had the same issue yesterday with the Three Ireland network. Couldn't receive or make calls or texts until I switched to 3G/4G also.
I have the same issue now. The "*#*#4636#*#*" method doesn't work, my Pixel 6 phone defailt back to LTE/LTE+. This is disappointing here because at this remote location there is only the one tower. It supports 5G, and when the phone (randomly but infrequently) connects using 5G, download speed is 10X faster. Ahhh technology, copyright and proprietary OS's...
After realizing that call dropping connections issues with my Pixel 5 were related to some radio issue that caused my phone to be stuck in the CDMA mode, I reset the connections and all was fine again. Phone was regularly switching between LTE and 5G and the voice network type remained in LTE mode. Prior to doing the reset, no rebooting or SIM swapping would cause the phone to get "unstuck" from CDMA mode.
So, now I have been watching the SIM card status and since I work in an area of really poor coverage, my phone does go into CDMA mode sometimes while at work. What I did notice, was if the phone was in CDMA when I left my job and traveled into a normal LTE service area, the phone remained in CDMA mode until I reboot the phone, and then it goes back into the normal LTE mode.
Has anyone else noticed this behavior? What behind the scenes app or process controls the switching of the voice network type? Any insight would be appreciated.
There is a network user built into the android kernel
but In settings Network and connections
Look for prefer 5G.... That should help your issue a bit
Dont use developer option aggressive wifi over cellular handover "keep it off"
Or there may be a software update that patches it

Not seeing a developer option about aggressive wifi over cellular handover. Only seeing a "mobile data always active" whcih says "Always keep mobile data active even when wifi is active for fast network switching", which is toggled on.
