I think it's because Play Services is running in the background. Try restricting apps. Or you can try recalibrating your battery.

Several apps won't work without play service.
So can't restrict that.
But how to calibrate battery, it will work ?

Yeah that's the use of "Google" apps obviously. Also restricting won't kill the app, it will just load notifications slowly. I mean you said also you change rom but still battery drain continues then yea, your battery might be displaying wrong percentage, calibrating it might help
I would suggest a clean install, to begin with, and mind what the developer says about the firmware needed. I am on ArrowOS 12L and can't tell any battery drain. Installed it 5 days ago and still have 20 odd per cent of battery left, waiting for the first full charge but I do not use any google apps/ services (gapps or else).
I really suggest also flashing latest Vantom kernel from telegram channel. first 4 days no battery drain on Pixel OS, at 5th day it started with 20-30% drain overnight. Then I flashed latest Vantom and until now, no problems anymore
Battery Calibration isnt really a thing anymore, modern batteries dont need it, google that info anytime, however, going into recovery and wiping cache etc, then turn phone off, fully charge battery to 100% before turning phone back on should correct any misreads. Do remember with modern Li Ion batteries, how you treat it will determine how long it lasts, maybe reading an article of 2 about how to look after your battery may help you to maximise its life, or in the end, you find you have a battery with the iphone issue, they end up only charging to about 80% on a full charge.

Just to add guys, its very important not to regularly completely drain your battery, that also can potentially damage it, always a good idea not to let it drop below 10% before fully recharging
I can recommend between 25 and 75 percent charging. In this way I've a old tablet with always display on (dim if not use) and acca charging controller in my house for house control, used 6 years without any problems (battery is still alive)

Hello guys I'm a newbie here so please do explain to me some of the stuff if you need to
so recently (about 2 weeks ago) I used this guide to root my Incredible S and did everything except the Blackrose part
and since then
I've noticed that my phone has drained its battery a lot quicker than usual
I lost 11% of battery when I woke up, fully charging it the night before
I usually do not use it much, only a call every 2 days or so, and I do not have internet connection
so I cannot understand how I have to charge it every day now, when it used to last 4 days (on Sense)
here's a pic from betterybatterystats
thanks everyone
------- 4/10 edit
ok
back to stock rom
it has the SAME problem
"No data connection" and "No or Unknown Signal" on Betterbatterystats
with steep drops in battery whenever there is "Mobile network signal"
and next to no drop whatsoever when there isn't
PLEASE HELP ><
new attachments down there with stock rom
tell me if you need a translation
THANKS

I know and I've tried to look around for answers for quite a few days
but for most people
it's either the same as Sense or something else (too many apps, not charging fully...)
and for those with similar conditions
I can't find solutions for
and the problem got worse today
in the 7 hours I slept yesterday
the battery drained from more than 50% to nothing
so the alarm didn't ring because it shut itself off

The standard charging time isnt what it says on the box or anything. It should be roughly 6 hours from 0% to 100% and thats providing you plug it into an AC outlet. I would suggest trying an app called Greenify. It hibernates certain apps/ services that may not be in use thus saving battery. I would also regularly check the Running Apps in settings and clear out anything unecessary.

I don't have a charging problem
it's a drainage problem
and about Greenify
I already installed that when I looked over the battery saving guide (which didn't help)
I literally have 5 apps in the Running Apps section
the part I don't get is
why does Cyanogenmod 10.1 use battery so much quicker than Sense
when I have 1/4 the apps I originally did?
it's the "No Data Connection" and "No or Unknown Signal" part really bothers me.
oh and thanks for the time btw

Hmm then this battery drainage is strange. Try making a full backup in recovery. Then clean flash the ROM again. If the problem still persists, then I have absolutely no idea whats wrong lol

Actually
I tried that...
on Sunday afternoon I reflashed it
my exact steps:
1. ClockworkMod backup
2. Install from zip
3. Advanced restore - data (I restored the whole thing too once before that, but thought that just restoring the data might actually change something)
and that's when it went from 50% to 0 overnight
not looking too good -.-

Well then sit tight. Szezso is gonna release a CM10.1 for us as soon as he gets his new USB port.
oh well then
thanks for the help anyways
I'll just keep waiting
might want to go back to Sense though...

just in case anyone knows what they mean
Drained 56% of my battery while I was asleep yesterday (for about 7 hours)
only 6% in the time I was at school, because of Airplane mode (I even listened to music and played a little Doodle Jump)
but I obviously want a phone to CALL PEOPLE
so I'm reverting to stock Rom
OK
so that didn't work out
I edited the main article
hope someone can help!!
meanwhile I'll look for more articles online since I know it's not (really) CM's problem anymore
thanks
Ensure to charge your mobile fully and after a NORMAL usage (calls, WiFi, Mobile Data on).
Just share the dump file from betterbatterystats. It would help to analyse better.
Edit:
Could notice you are using some widgets in the home screen. Usually widgets with high refresh rate drains your battery.
2. Facebook app is causing the partial wakelock. Even when the screen is off, the app is using your CPU. Try to disable autosync if it's enabled
3. Audio_out3 wakelock is due to phone vibrator is enabled. May be during call or keyboard haptic feature.
Power manager service wakelock is common and its in good level.
Try to check your CPU freq n governor.
And adjust accordingly. One more, Li-on battery should not be charged fully. Just charge till 85-90%. The battery will drain little lower compared to fully charged device. And you need to charge your device only when battery is low. Frequent charging n discharging will affect the battery life. Consistent Charge and discharge cycle is encouraged.
Try to share your fresh dump here or in batter battery status thread. There are many folks to help you with.

Thanks for the detailed reply sir
My widgets (aka weather & tasks) only refresh manually, and nothing is on Autosync (in the auto sync menu, anyways)
originally had only vibration for calls, turned that off too now
and what is "CPU freq n governor"?
didn't know that about the batteries
I'll do that next time
and I just reinstalled betterbatterystats, so I'll post the Dump File after a few hours

I get around 9.5 to 10 hours sot. I took following measures.
1. format phone using recovery.
2. perform graphic test. It will re-install your update.
3.reboot your phone.
4. Setup your phone fresh Do not recover any apps from your google account. Manually install from play store or take a backup of apk's on your memory card/pc.
5. Enter your google account only after entire phne setup is complete.
6. Install all your apps.
7. Setup your apps under Adaptive battery as per requirement.
8. Disable adaptive brightness.
After setting up your phone, messages and other stuff force stop and disable google and google play store(wipe data and cache of both apps). This may seem controversial but it seems Google apps are causing some issues. You can activate them on need basis.
Your battery will drain faster for a week as Adaptive battery learns your battery usage. Post one week it will perform as a charm. Also recalibrate your battery from 15-100% 1-2 times, it might help.
I would also like to point that I am not using Nokia's quick charge but rather Sony's normal charger. It charges a bit slow by also keeps my device cool.
I can confirm this as for the last cycle my Sot was 9hrs 40 mins(90%to 15%) and for previous to last cycle it was around 7 hrs 43 mins(this was when I deactivated google apps and play store at 53%). Sorry I forgot to take screenshot to prove it. Refer screenshot below. I started video loop at 53%. At this time my Sot was 4.5 hrs.
I am sure you would have tried every word in the dictionary to get you battery performing good, there's no harm in trying this one too. But, it's your call.
I am not saying that you should try it. This is what worked for me and I am sharing it with you.
My entire test was with 90% Volte and 10% wifi(I exhausted my data pack).
P.S: I have deactivated all the fancy stuff like glance, wake up on pick etc. Brightness at 35%. I am using dark theme for app drawer and wallpapers.
Hope this works for you.
My only gripe is how to reduce battery standby time. It seems rooting would be the only option.

As I said in my previous post, I tried all the possible solutions to get a good battery. This was part of the last thing I tried and I got a pretty decent Sot. Hence I am sharing it.
The graphics setup may work for some, it may not for some... but for sure it won't brick your device. So no harm trying it.
Completely charging and draining the battery twice fixed my problems. I get good battery life on Pie.

Medium usage 6h 30min SOT with 42 hour standby
Roughly 2 days since i charged and it has been connected mostly on wifi. That is a good mix.
Flat out if i use it from 100% then it will/may last even 9-10 hours SOT

You mean draining battery completely to 0 % ?
Hi. Can someone help me with my problem?
Im facing massive battery drain even after wipe, im only getting around 3/4h SOT. In BBS, 2 alarms are weird Job.delay. And job.deadline. I have wiped my phone, installed last version of rom, after that i have restored my apps. Problem still exist. Next i have installed kirasakura kernel and then frozen every of my apps, and its still there. After night im losing around 10/20% of battery. Im attaching some screens from bbs. Thanks in advance for every help.
i'll try to help as much as i can. install servicely and look at running services. if you see something weird, stop that service.
also, i see you're using bluetooth. that thing drained my battery as bluetooth would stay turned on even when it says it's off. what you can do is turn it on and off and it should stop bluetooth service from running.
in servicely you can disable apps from running in the background. maybe some app is running full throttle even tho you thought you closed it.
another thing you can check is if xmode is running. once i had system turning on xmode on even tho i closed the app that used it.
as you're rooted, check with some kernel manager what cpu governor is turned on. maybe the system is stuck in performance mode.
lastly, you can check your battery capacity. maybe it needs calibration. that could also result in battery drain as it's not charged to the max.
also, android 10 is generaly badly optimised for our phone. it has some good features, but powerwise it's not that efficient.
if nothing works out, i'd suggest returning to latest android 9 and do battery calibration.
Thanks for answer. I have installed servicely but im not see anything suspicious. Xmode is off, governor ist in performance mode. About battery calibration, i dont need extra juice from my battery, i want to lose 1% over night, not 20%.. Probably around July/august everything was fine, my battery last for almost 3 days, now something eating it alive and i dont know what is it. Can i somehow check which app generate this "job" alarms? In BBS its "Android" only..
battery calibration isn't about extra juice, it's about system showing the right percentage. you could lose a lot of battery because it doesn't get charged to its max capacity.
there could also be a problem with the lastest update. when i was seeing a lot of battery drain, i had it because system constantly used location services. check in services if there are any location processes running. also it could be because of network. maybe your phone is constantly switching between 3g and 4g.
you can also check in the kernel manager what is your current battery draw in mAh. if its always over 300mAh, then you have a problem.
look for a wakelocks running in the background and disable and enable some to get them resetted.
Probably u have solved my problem. Even after turning off location, i still have some running services with location in name. I have blocked all of them in servicely and after night i lost 1% of battery. I will check now in later days. Thanks a lot

A reload generally solves nothing and wastes time. It's always best to find the root cause(s) and address them directly otherwise they tend to reoccur.
Viruses (never had to), boot loops (prey it works) and old loads are the only times I reload.

yeah i thought it could be that. it's also worth checking if you have "find my phone" turned on. it's somewhere in the settings. search for device admin apps. if you see any apps turned on as device administrators, turn that off. those could also drain battery
Yep, i have turned off "find my phone" now. Thanks once again. Now i have nearly 8h SoT again. I hope it will be all good now
i'd still do battery calibration if i were you. 8 hours of sot is not that much. i mean, it is if you're playing games all the time
After couple of days, problem is back. No new apps, 3 days was good, 0/1% drain in night, now its again about 15/20%. I will just sell this phone becouse i dont have any more patience...6000mah and my OP3 with half of that value can ez get about 5h sot. Aktually im getting about 3/4h sot and 3h calls. When i have bought this phone i have had about 10 h SOT and 5 h of calls in 3 days of usage. Never again gonna buy phone from asus. Thanks guys for every help
i wouldn't condemn the whole brand because of one phone model.
also try going back to android 9 and check how's the battery drain without any apps installed. then start installing your apps and monitoring if the drain will increase.
i'm currently on android 10 and there is some major problem with battery regulation. raw capacity goes below zero when the percentage is below 10 percent. no wonder the whole system starts stuttering when battery level is below 3%.
Is there any battery life issue that anyone may have encountered ever since the previous two updates.. my 6000mah battery that used to stay for 2 days minimum has gone to a single day. It's all been after the update and i saw plenty of forums in Asus itself of the same thing.

Anyone got any leads for this?

What is your battery usage? Have you tried a factory reset?
What is showing as consuming most power? An optimized debloated ROG 3 with a healthy can go a week on stand-by with data enabled and even longer (no kidding) and easily 2-2.5 days with normal use.
You have to pinpoint what is doing it. It's wearing down your battery as well...

I tried, actually. The thing is i fear the Android system itself. Coz in one of the threads on the Asus website forums, there were people discussing Play Store or Play activities that keep auto restarting and also twin apps.
So for starters i did try to force close play services (can't disable coz of the emails), then battery turned out great. But afterwards it started reducing again. Same with twin apps.
I ain't kidding too. It's supposed to a 2-2.5day phone easily with the 6000mah battery, but for me it's a single day max to max a 12+ (3-4) hour phone

You can also try to use the Naptime app, it forces the phone into Doze when screen is off. Adb access or root is needed
GSAM can also be used to find the culprit
If disabling Goog Play Services stops the issue, it's likely linked to one or more running apps or processes. It's likely not Play Services itself but because one or more other components are making calls to it. Try to review all the running apps & services on your device and selectively disable them and gauge the difference. Apps that do a lot of syncing, using location services, excessive notifications (cloud messaging), Firebase indexing, etc etc.... If you have a good app manager tool, that will make the hunt easier.

Hello
Yesterday i had the phone around 65% at 01h00, in the next morning (around 7h20) i wake up to find the phone at 1%, no wifi/4G/bluetooth/GPS...etc was active, even the battery saver was ON. As you can see in the screenshots, android system drain battery around 400% !!! what's up with this behavior ? happened the 1st time last week (49% drained in 8 hours) the problem seems gone after i fully charge and than reboot, but still today happened.
The phone is almost 1 month old.
The 1st few days, i disconnected the phone from charging at 100% and went to sleep, after 6 hours battery is drained by 6% without doing nothing. is this normal ??? screenshot
ROM : crDroid 8, latest magisk installed+microg+magiskhide props config and fdroid/aurora modules installed.
Thanks

Hello
Yesterday i had the phone around 65% at 01h00, in the next morning (around 7h20) i wake up to find the phone at 1%, no wifi/4G/bluetooth/GPS...etc was active, even the battery saver was ON. As you can see in the screenshots, android system drain battery around 400% !!! what's up with this behavior ? happened the 1st time last week (49% drained in 8 hours) the problem seems gone after i fully charge and than reboot, but still today happened.

clearly something is going wrong, I would suggest factory resetting, and optionally reinstalling your custom rom.

well, that must a bug related to optimiztion of the rom, report it to the rom mantainer
Exactly what happened to me same ROM same phone but I didn't root it. it drained from 54% to 6% during the night, next day I switched the ambient display off and the battery became better but so far I am also looking for solutions to make it similar to miui
I feel the battery is draining so much fast when I start using the apps unlike miui but the room is also great and fast , with my light use it gave me 1 day of use and remaining of 10% with 120 fps (3.3%/hr screen on and 0.6%/h screen off )
today I will test it with 60fps

No, only when charging of course (around 40°)

I'll wait and see if this bug happens again as right now i need the phone for the rest of the week, if happens again i might switch rom altogether on the weekend.

Wow, 3.3%/hr is seriously impressive for active drain, especially for 120hz. Can I ask you if you did anything special / your exact setup? I installed Ricedroid 8.0 + Sleepy kernel and applied the GMS Doze module + Naptime (as suggested by a kind poster on here), and this allowed my idle drain to go down to 0.2%/hr, but my active drain is still struggling a bit.

to be honest I am not sure if I report it correctly I have used accubattry app but I will post few screenshots from the app and you can see , I didn't do anything except disable the ambient display maybe my usage is light in default I don't know I also formatted the phone like 20 times during my testing for different ROMs. I found Cr-droid to be the best so far or miui

Ohh the 3.3%/hr is combined use, which takes account of both active drain and idle drain (through what I guess is some weighted average). But honestly, 6.7%/hr (or even 7.8%/hr tbh) is still pretty damn impressive, so I'll thank you for letting me know! Now I wanna flash crDroid haha.

I spent 1 day and half trying all custom roms in this forum because for long time I was on miui and didn't know how custom ROMs are now , after trying I found that all custom ROMs either are pixel flavored or very basic without any customization and I settled with Cr-droid because it offers best of both worlds less google and good customization options.
now regarding the battery after few days of using on 60 fps I have combined use 2.4%/hr and 0.8% screen off but I still feel that it drains fast during my usage compared to Miui , I have only used naptime for optimization do you advise me to add anything else for non-rooted device ?

MIUI very often switches off alarm (not clock alarm) and wakeups -- it's known for long. Your notifications often comes late when using MIUI. In real life situation, however you might never notice it, but it's there. It also sets higher priorities to known messaging, social media apps to receive notification/action faster than any apps that are outside "the list".
It's a good trade off for battery life compares to stock AOSP or lineage which put every apps on generic list of "optimized battery" based on your pattern. It will took a long before the pattern is useable.

I'm not sure about your possibilities on a non-rooted device honestly. I think Naptime can work on a non-rooted device, if you grant a few permissions through ADB first (if I remember correctly, the app itself will guide you through the process). Be mindful of which apps you're restricting though, as Naptime will likely cause delays in the arrival of notifications. You can whitelist apps through Android's battery restriction screen.

yes I am it currently after activation via ADB it made some improvement I felt , so far the highest consuming system apps are : Android OS [19%] screen [9%] and System UI [6%] can I do something about them ?

Hmm I don't have any further tips honestly, not about these specific things. In my case, using Naptime already improves battery life by a ton over the course of a day (not wasting entire %s in hours of idle time is already huge).
Try and see if greenify or its replacements helps.
