Hello guys ! Come and meet my new Developed Kernel maintained for S9(starqlte), S9+(star2qlte) and Note9 (Crowqlte)
This Kernel was designed to find the best balance between autonomy, less heating and greater stability. See the list of changes:
* V4 Changelog
* Fixed Home Launcher Bug in roms
* Fixed Security option on Gsi/Aosp Roms
* internal bugs fixed
* V3 Changelog
* Merged with the smudge kernel source
* Fixed NFC issue
* Fixed issue with usb connection with other devices
* Fixed issue when mounting some memory cards
* Added Governors : ondemand, powersave and conservative
* Re-implemented custom rom/gsi support: now the system will not bootloop in gsi.
* Improved storage and cryptography blobs: It is now possible to use the kernel with the Oneui rom stock, without the need to install magisk.
* and all changes from version V2
Note: Due to changes in the kernel structure to solve several errors, and especially the compatibility with the stock rom without root, when booting the system a message is displayed informing the one related to the changed system, just click ok and everything will be fine!
Thank you all for the support!!
TomKernel v2 Changelog:
* GCC 4.9 Compiler
* WQ Power Efficient
* Disabled Boost CFS
* Disabled AIO support
* Several unnecessary kernel debugs
* Config_hz set at 100mhz
* Added adaptive voltage control
* Disable Multi Core Schedule
* Added Zram
* F2FS partition support (We need a patch for support alongside recovery)
* and many other improvements to the internal code. Test and check the stability!!
How to Install ?
Just flash it according to your variant in twrp/orangefox , if you have magisk , the installer will keep it intact
The files are attached to the post, download according to your version

Hi, cool a new kernel, can it be flashed over klabit v6.5 and is better then that kernel?
Glad to see more support for S9, will for sure test it after NFC is fixed, nice work!

It has the newest source relative to klabit with 2 year old kernel. In stock it does very well, but has incompatibilities with gsi

I currently have rooted Stock Firmware with Security update from May 2022 and using klabit kernel V6.5 on my S9 snapdragon (SM-9600)
I flashed this kernel and got a error message "Android System There's an internal problem with your device..."
In addition, I can't connect to the phone from windows. ADB shows no devices attached (Dev Mode, USB debugging is ON).
Most other apps, functions seem to be OK.
Any idea how to fix the Android System error and get ADB to start working?

Q&A
What is Energy Aware Scheduling : Go through this amazing thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/development/kernel-renderzenith-t3659850
Here is a review on the new kernel with EAS : post #184
Q. After flashing the latest build with EAS there is a slight impact on battery life.
A. This is an expected behavior, please do not worry. Let the device go through and drain and then a full charge and another drain. This will allow EAS to settle in and adjust frequencies. After that you will notice amazing battery life.
Q. I am getting partition error while flashing the zip file.
A. Please use the latest TWRP recovery for the P10 Plus. The P10 Plus recovery will work on P10 as well (as reported by some users)
Q. What should I use to modify the kernel settings ?
A. I personally use EX Kernel Manager, but here is a free and amazing kernel manager that works with this kernel
Kernel Manger (To change kernel settings and setup the tweaks) :
Click Here
Q. Not able to change Internal I/O scheduler ?
A. This post will clarify why : Post #53

Great to see it up and now I don't have to be quiet about it.
Says selinux permissive, any chance to run it in enforcing mode?
Woooow is amazing ..
I'm running AOSP, 8.1, on US Mate 9, with Magisk but stock recovery. I have backups of kernel and ramdisk. Is there any reason not to flash this kernel with adb rather than installing TWRP?
I'm getting a partition error when trying to flash this. Tried both Blackball's 3.2.1 and TWRP-3.0.3-for_Oreo.img with the same error. Recovery.log attached.
Edit: Used the recovery from this thread and it flashed successfully. Thanks for the kernel!

Flashed this on Saturday. It's Monday now and I'm thinking of flashing back my original kernel. Although the battery life is somewhat better, my phone lags on this kernel. The degradation in performance is noticeable when it comes to scrolling in general. It also generally lags after turning the screen on for a few seconds (I'm guessing it takes a few seconds to change the CPU frequency back into something higher?).
It's also worth mentioning that my phone restarted itself one time after freezing. (Wasn't doing anything special, just browsing Reddit and it suddenly froze and restarted.)
Oh, and my Antutu score running this kernel is 20,000 points lower than my stock._.
Running on MHA-L09C185B372 if you're wondering.
Thanks for your work though! It's good to see that someone's working on something for Huawei devices.

how stable is it and how did u root it with magisk does hide work and how is the camera quality and does it have dual sim ?
sorry for asking a lot i really want to use AOSP but i dont know if its stable
I'm happy with it. The things that aren't fully working for me are SD card (only files and VLC see it and read/write) and headphones (which aren't recognized except unless I make or receive a call first). Here is a lengthier explanation:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76231795&postcount=23
I did root with Magisk so that I could install the Huawei camera, which now has full functionality and high quality photos. Magisk reports passing the safetynet checks. I haven't had an app crash, or a full crash for that matter in two days of use. I only have one sim so I don't know if the second works; the system asked me if I was using one sim and I said yes, so evidently the OS thinks it supports two sims. I'm much happier with it, won't go back.
Thanks my friend. Finally a custom kernel for our beloved mate 9.

Reporting bugs
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)

Hey, first of all thanks for this great ROM!
I found one bug when trying to unlock the phone while using the fingerprint reader. You can hear the phone unlocking but the screen stays black. You need to re lock and unlock by not only touching the fingerprint but really physically pushing it in so it clicks. I hope my explanation is clear to understand.

Thx for the quick response, and I totally understand that. This bug is only a luxury problem so I guess I'll live
I'm using RR as daily driver and I can say it's pretty stable, I've experienced some FCs on Magisk but when rebooting they got solved, also sometimes when I reboot the phone to solve FCs on Magisk the ROM doesn't boot and I have to turn the phone off and boot again, but these problems are not common, so I don't really care about them, just saying... Maybe it's becouse I flashed mods, right now I'm only using V4A and iOS Emojis, both are zip files flashed via Magisk. But as I said this problems are very uncommon so no problem with it.
The other bug is that problem with AOD, but since I don't use AOD I don't really care about it
Except that everything works perfectly

1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. 4) Join our Discord server! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.
Notice:
You need to flash FIX everytime you flash the ROM, for the ROM to get flashed and support OTA updates.
The ROM doesn't tinker with the persist partition and hence it won't alter your MAC addresses don't you worry about it and don't keep asking about that in the thread again and again.
And yeah, the VoLTE icon is missing but VoLTE works just fine, You don't need to worry about that too.

Can you list out what's working and what's not? And looks like it supports OTA updates ?
Does this ROM have the function to prevent app from using mobile data completly?

What do you mean "selinux is not fully functional"?
I'm downloading with very slow speed, about 20kbps , test both on 4G and wired internet, took me 14hrs to finish

What do you mean selinux is not "fully functioning". It is set to enforcing and everything is working fine. What else do you mean?
Can we make feature requests here? If yes. Is it possible to add inbuilt themes like many other ROMs have?
What is this fix for ??? What does it fix ???
Why it won't flash without ??? Didn't see that before.
Are you able to suppress caller ID with this rom or does it end to network or simcard error ?

"Carbon ROM Official builds are signed with custom keys like our stock ROM so inorder to flash the ROM it needs to verify the key for which though can be surpassed if we update the TWRP( it will take for me to do that) so, that fix.zip file replaces the key and adds OTA support to the ROM." ~ This is what developer told me when I asked him the same question.
And I didn't understand the suppress caller ID part. Can you elaborate?

Thanks for info.
For the caller id, open your phone app and try to suppress your number on outgoing calls. On all custom roms I get Network or simcard error and the option stays grey. It only work on every stock rom so far. Doesn't matter which phone app i use, doesn't matter which gapps I flash.
Navigation bar isn't working
Thanks for the rom. Does it have a true OTA or does it only download a zip we must then flash via TWRP?
Also, is it possible to add Live Display instead of Night light?

It has OTA, but he said he needs to fix TWRP first to support OTA.
most awaited rom finally on the ground.
Thanks CarbonRom team.
Edit-
After flashing the ROM it's not boot normally I forced it by pressing power key after it boot it's not detecting sim card so I can complete the setup wizard I'm only network data user no WiFi. I did clean flash wipe system wipe data wipe delvik and art cache then flash fix.zip, rom.zip, twrp.zip reboot to twrp flash gapps then mazisk 16.0.
I did flash mazisk first then gapps but no luck please correct me where I'm wrong

You should have flashed either permissiver zip or magisk selinux manager as written in the instruction. It's never late. Follow the instruction and have fp working.

I did this with magisk selinux manager, but I guess it didn't worked. Just dirty flashed a21 for working fp. I'll try this with permissiver next time.

F2FS not work on this kernel!
A great and balance kernel indeed, and props to dev for that.
One request though, could you add the ability to increase swappiness value to 160? That'd make it possible to take multitasking to next level, thank you.

Question? Do you use wifi calling? I am very impressed with this kernel, I ran it for a day until I realized that I couldn't get wifi / vowifi enabled regardless of what I tried. I read in another thread that there are certain implementations of wifi drivers that possibly break this functionality. Need another user to verify. Reverting to previous kernel solved the issue.
Not extensively but works when I do.

Thanks for checking, I just flashed again and still can't get it enabled. No other kernel has this behavior for me. But I guess it's still possible it's something on my device. Thanks.

Is it possible that kernel in general can cause problems with the stock cam? Since I flashed latest built I can't make any video or slomo with stock cam. I can record it but can't watch/play it after. Flashing back to stock kernel and it's working fine again. Can somebody on latest EU and latest RK test it and report if it's working. Tx
No more K-lapse?
