Yesterday I bought Galaxy Gear. I currently own Galaxy S3 that I would like to pair with Gear.
I'm on custom SlimBean ROM with Android 4.3. I have installed the APK Gear Manager that is floating around the forum here (around 17mb), it installs without the problem, but when it comes to pairing I get a little popup that some part of Samsung SDK is not supported and the connection is being broken. Did anyone else get it to work with S3?
I have time till next saturday to decide whatever I will keep it or not, maybe there will be a solution by then. I can always return it to the store.

update us if you manage to get it to work considering samsung said that it will pair with teh s3 once it updates to 4.3 :good:
sure, no problem, but my hands are tied at the moment, unless someone have some other idea how i could possibly pair it.
Can I ask does the watch display basic functions I.e time,camera etc ? Or is it stuck a the pairing icon?

maybe there is a way to go further, but i don't see such option. it's stuck at pairing and only display battery left.
gear got gs3 and my gear paired without any issues. My gs3 is stock rom, downloaded the gear manager from Samsung app store and it all worked fine! There are some things that don't work - s voice, weather, can't install any new apps from Samsung app store but pretty much everytjing else works (calling, transfer of pics and videos, changing clock face, etc). Any questions, pls ask!
Rooted Stock Rom on my S3 and it paired fine with my 1st Watch (That went back to Best Buy, since I wasn't paying $300 until it was fully working - and my new one will be here tomorrow - had to take the 30% deal).
So it paires and the functions that worked, worked well ... Like the previous post - No apps / etc ... But Calls worked, pictures, etc

May i know do we need to root inorder to use? i have download Gear Manager from other website, it allow me to install and connected to S Gear, but on my watch just keep showing Sync screen with phone which doesnt work at all.
Let me know where did u download and method to connect.

No, it's not rooted, I installed the earliest version of the manager and that one seems to be the only one that works. Today stupidly I went to Samsung app store and tried to install the new version... as the install wasn't working I deleted the version I had - and this was a mistake as new versions seem to be compatible only with 4.3. After searching this site, I've found the version that works again thankfully! so if you click here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2484065&page=4 and install the app from the last post - this should work. Let me know how you get on.
for anyone curious, using this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910947 and this Gear Manager apk: http://depositfiles.com/files/pmgqxv9c5 will get you paired up with your Galaxy Gear.
Everything connected right up no problem.
The only issue is no notifications, which is the main reason I wanted this but its only a temporary issue. Hopefully.(c'mon 4.3 update :fingers-crossed
Camera, calls, even incoming calls, work fine, can change app settings and everything. I was even able to load GamboyColor AD and play some pokemon on it lol.

I bought this watch from a friend just becouse I was needing a GPS to install on my bike and I don't want to damage my S5. The problem is that I dod not find any chance to see on the watchs creen the instructions coming from the phone, I tried MAPS, Sygic, Here.... No way. Then I back to Android with the null_23 rom and I start loving this watch, but the issue is always the same: how to see GPS instructions coming from my phone. This is pretty easy on Moto360 of my friend, but how could I do the same?
I don't want to share GPS via bluetooth and search on maps on the watch, but only see directions like with D.M.A. Navi watch (is there any chance to have it working on my gear?)

Never found a solution though....
The problem is that the Gear 1 only receives notifications, so you need to have a navigation app which will show the directions in a notification.
(as far as my common sense tells me that...)
There used to be an app, but the developer stopped working on it because of a license problem.
If you find something, please share it here as I believe a lot of users are wanting the same
Great, Thank you! At least I have a feedback! I tried D.M.A. Navi on Tizen, but it seems that it is not wortking with lollipop roms... So.... Again stuck at the same starting point.....
Have you tried gear location bridge and Google maps? You'd need an old version of maps something like 6.11
Do you mean that maps should be installed on the watch? I don't want to do this, my idea is to set the address on my phone and send the instructions to my watch...
Hi Guys. I'm a new LG Urbane owner, currently using the watch with my iphone. One of the reasons I bought this watch over the Moto360 was due to the wifi implementation. However, I cannot seem to get a wifi setting to show up in the menu at all. Is this because I'm using it with iOS or is something else the issue? Anyone have any experience with this issue and iOS? I haven't been able to find anything in regards to this no matter how hard I search.
Any help would be appreciated.
I haven't used the urbane with iOS, but if you aren't even seeing the setting on urbane, it may be because of iOS restrictions.
I use the urbane with my nexus, and while WiFi works find on the urbane, I haven't even bothered enabling it. Odds of me leaving home without my phone are negligible. If I'm at a new location, I will need the phone to set the WiFi connection up for the watch.
I'm sure WiFi connection is useful to some folks - I'm not one of them
I got my LG Watch Urbane yesterday and had the same issue. A coworker has an Android phone so I did a factory reset on the watch and set it up with the Android phone. Sure enough, the wifi and Bluetooth settings showed up with a whole bunch of other features. After doing a factory reset and setting up the watch with iOS on my iPhone 6, wifi and Bluetooth were gone. We have Apple to thank for this. Maybe in a near future update, they will open up more options to us, restricted iOS users.
YOu must be getting wifi/bluetooth to get notifications from your iphone???
I get Fitbit, Email, Paypal notifications from my iphone6. I can also control my music pause/play on watch screen - slide to get back/forward/volume up/volume down. I also get local weather.
I soon realise that you can't link the Urbane to more than one device I was hoping to link to my Nexus7 to get watch face etc but this just won't work. Hopefully, there will be other updates to Android Wear IOS and 3rd part face apps on itunes??

Could anyone confirm if this phone has Mirrorlink for a car please?
Also, I am interested how "sharp" the edge is on this phone. I have the Galaxy S6 Edge and I hate the edge on it (i'm forever accidentally activating stuff on the screen, even in a hard case). Is the Note's edge less obvious/shallower maybe?
I was going to be swapping to the iPhone X, but it's just to small/narrow, so I need an alternative.

Yes the note 8 has mirror link via usb.

For the edge question, I can't tell you, it just works fine for me...
For the Mirrorlink : yes there is mirrorlink installed from Samsung. It works but it is nearly useless. You can use deezer (but no equalizer), and some bad apps like sygic. In fact there are restrictions so you can't use full mirror of your phone. I tried to root my phone to allow some more applications in the database (like maps or waze) but the fact to root the phone affects the mirrorlink app and the authentification is not valid when I plug into my car. So I can't use it anymore... I'm trying to find out other solutions but among me we should put a custom mirrorlink apk that would easier for everybody.
The database aroung Mirrorlink is very poor on the forum. The is a fail in the original app when non rooted, messenger shows up on the screen of my car and you can fully respond...
...on my Note8 works well, but I needed to install another "car mode" app version (not these from Galaxy app store). I used "CarMode_6.0.13.3666832" version (You can find it via google).

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere but my searching didn't find it.
Since the G6 updated OTA to Pie, certain apps no longer work properly on my home wifi. They all work fine on mobile data and corporate wifi, just not my home. Apps that I have noticed this problem on are IMDB, Amazon, Flipboard as examples. They all open and will display some info but generally cannot be used. Home router is Asus DSL-N16 on Vodafone Fibre.
I tried a factory reset but this made no difference. I'm guessing this is something to do with either the ISP or my router settings given that the apps work in other setups, but I'm jiggered if I can see what the problem configuration is on the home setup. For added fun, it is only my G6 with this problem. My Shield tablet running Android 7 still works perfectly for all apps, as does my child's Fire on A5, which makes me wonder if the issue is G6- or Pie-related, rather than router/ISP.
If anyone can offer some guidance, it would be much appreciated.

No, nothing seemed to make a difference and then all of a sudden, it all started working normally again. As far as I could tell, nothing new happened, so whether it was apps updating or something else I don't know. Sorry!
