A8+ battery drain - Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) Questions & Answers

Hi!
I have a problem with my phone. It discharges by 50% overnight. I changed the battery, reset to factory settings. Nothing’s changed. The phone does the same with the old original battery, and with the new Chinese one, before resetting to factory settings, and after.
In order to find the source of battery drain, I’ve installed the GSAM battery monitor app and gave it the necessary rights through adb. Also, I’ve done wipe cash partition.
Could you please help to understand the results of app monitoring? The screenshots show the monitoring results for the last 8 hours when the phone was locked. Please, explain what might cause battery drain?

Make a note of the battery status. Turn off the phone completely. Turn on the phone after 12 hours and read the battery status.
Write the results here.

66% (Info from GSAM: 3.86V, 263mA) was yesterday, 13% after 12h (3.51V, -866 mA).
Interesting.

It seems that the phone's electronics have damage or there are current escapes through micro short circuits caused by dirt on the exposed PCB tracks.
The first thing you can do is blow the inside of the phone with compressed air and/or wash the surface with isopropyl alcohol and then dry it well.

Hello All,
I am new to xda forum, this is my first thread. I am having a serious battery draining problem with my new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Duos (SM-N9208) running Android 6.0.1. My phone's Android OS is draining a lot of power during idle hours. After a full charge I put my phone into sleep mode closing every apps that can run in background as well as turning of WiFi, Bluetooth, Data Connection, NFC etc. But after around 4 hours when I turn the phone on my battery level dropped to 65% from 100%. From the battery usage screen I found that during this 4 hours Android OS has consumed 62% of the battery. I am totally surprised to see this. I have no game installed on my phone as well as I use a few basic apps like Facebook, Messenger etc. I have no idea what's going on with my phones battery in sleep mode. I have attached some screenshots from the battery usage screen which might help you to understand the issue. I am badly looking for a permanent solution to this problem since I can't go anywhere without a power bank with the phone to keep it running. Please help me out of this problem. Any kind of suggestions, tips or tricks are welcomed.
have you rooted your phone or is there a chance that it was already rooted by the seller? seems like a deep sleep problem to me.

Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 T815 battery failure or probably motherboard issues

Hi
i guess i've got a major problem.
while normally using my galaxy tab s2 9.7 t815 it start becaming really hot in the center-right part and battery charge fallen down very quickly. While this was happening I turned it off (i mean shut down/power off, not the only black screen) to let it cool down. Even when off it was always very hot and when i turned it on half hour later battery was something around 20-30% lower. Since it was not charging either, I downloaded Gsam battery monitor just to discover that the ongoing drainage cannot be stopped by the charge: without the charger connected, gsam said a little more than -2000ma, with the charger around -1800 (figures where not stable).
So battery goes from 90% to 0% in less than 2 hours i guess. Now i'm not able to turn it on because it doesn't charge (it always stays at 0%) and it turn off immediately.
Today i've opened it and the component that gets hot is the one between battery and sim/sd location (hope the image added below works). Checked and unpluggled/replugged every connector nothing changed.
Tablet is rooted. I've never used it hard: i use it mostly to surf the web, email, few minor apps, no games at all.
Thanks for your help

Battery stats not showing in full?

So my settings app doesnt tell me what drains my battery in full. Neither does any other battery app like gsam.

As you can see my phone is at 93% but my data report in here shows only 1% missing per app there. It doesnt add up to a 7% loss. I havent restarted my phone since charge so my stats haven't reset. Any ideas? I feel like im getting worse battery life than before.
I'm on freedom OS 1.3

Since these are round to full percentages, it's most probably rounding error.
They never add up... For example I now have 55℅ battery left but the report adds up to only 27℅. I have yet to find a clear explanation about what these percentages actually represent.

I have a similar issue, I thought the battery was near it's end of life (2 years old) so I got a new one put it an I'm still having the issue. Something is causing alot of battery drain when Idle. If I go to battery in settings there aren't any apps acting up, it's the phone idle that's using the majority of the battery and it's not even lasting 24 hours with less than 30 min screen time. Not sure what to do tbh. I tried a hard reset too and no improvement.
Hi,
Im not expert at this , sorry if this not helpful but have you try background restriction. It located at battery setting

I got a new phone and charged the G8 to 45% then turned it off, when I woke up the next morning it was dead. There's a short to ground somewhere on one of the logic boards I'm going to try replacing the charge port logic board, the other one isn't worth replacing.

Battery suddenly drops to 1%

Hello everyone, today I woke-up with my phone pretty much dead, with only 1% of battery. The weird thing is that before bed, the battery percentage was around 70ish percent.
Here's a screenshot of the battery usage:

Some details to help me figure it out the issue:
Auto optimize daily is on.
Auto restart at set times is on (it restarted around the time that the battery percentage drops to the floor).
Adaptative power saving is off.
Background usage limits is configured properly.
Any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance!
it's possible the Google services was running (updates and such) and used up a lot of the battery. Google being the OS developer tends to run quite a lot of things in the back without users knowing, and this is quite normal. As to draining such large amount, is your location in a poor data coverage area? if you are, then the phone likely was using extra battery to strengthen the signal. Note that even with wifi connection, data is still used for some activities by the phone.
if this keeps persisting then Google is probably not the culprit and you'll want to report the issue right away to samsung using samsung members app > get help > error report. just be sure to see the drain and immediately report.
Also, I've seen some users install 3rd party apps to track in finer detail on what is using the battery the most. I myself do not know as I don't use it, but you can easily find some recommendations on Reddit i think.
