I see a lot of people with system has been destroyed error messages, both here and on reddit. Tomorrow will be 7 days since I bought the phone and I will be able to unlock the bootloader and I'm planning to flash twrp and xiaomi.eu.
I have the global mi 9t version bought from Europe with stock miui 10.3.3. Can you please recommend me some precautions to take to avoid bricking my device? I rooted a lot of devices over the years and I only had problems with my girlfriend's Mi A1 which I bricked and had to send to a service repair. So I'm a bit nervous with xiaomi phones and especially this device since I see so many problems. Is there a specific guice for this phone Mi9t pro, or is the k20 pro guide good?

Almost all of these problems have been caused by people flashing fastboot ROMs with the Mi Flash Tool, where the ROM is for a different region to the phone. The problem happens when the default flash option of 'clean all and lock' has been used. Doing this is what causes the device to brick. Sometimes this has been done deliberately because the user didn't realise that it would brick and was trying to enable financial apps or Netflix, etc. to work correctly. Most of the time it's because the user hasn't been paying attention to what they are doing and forgot to change the flash option.
The only precaution you need to make, above and beyond what you would do for any other phone, is to check and double check, then check again that, whenever your flashing in the Mi Flash Tool, before you hit the Flash button you have changed the flash option at the bottom of the screen to 'clean all'.
If you actually do want to lock the bootloader then check, double check, then check again that the fastboot ROM you're installing is definitely, 100% the correct region for your phone.

Tomorrow you'll be using the Mi Unlock Tool.
A couple of things to point out. There is an issue with some/all versions of TWRP (not sure if they are all broken), - fastboot boot TWRP.img doesn't work, you'll end up having to reinstall a ROM if you try it, so use another method to boot into TWRP.
If you ever consider relocking the bootloader, then the standard fastboot command to do this won't work, I cannot remember if this will brick the phone or not.

I have the same concerns for my new mi9t pro.
Here is an article to read about anti rollback https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-anti-rollback-protection-brick-phone/ to realize why there are all that problems and a method to see the indexes of the device and the ROM in order to make the right decision if it is safe flashing a specific ROM or not.
I don't suggest to consider K20 PRO cases familiar with the mi 9t pro, cause they have their own ROM versions specifically for China and India and that's is a part of the whole XIAOMI's anti rollback strategy.

Is there a problem with the mi9t pro global rom?
Planning to flash it on the k20 pro
That way you change MIUI region versions. That is the reason XIAOMI uses anti roll protection.
BECAREFULL. You must check the indexes of your device and the GLOBAL ROM you wanna flash

I have Chinese k20 pro and ibe flashed both eu roms and now im on global stable PIe (from android 10).
Bro just dont re lock your bootloader if you not have the official rom. Chinese or global.
If your phone is china you can relock the BL only if you flash china stock firmware.. the same you can do if your phone is global (mi9t pro).

I suppose now you can't go back because your phone's index is updated, so if you flash older ROM u will brick the device ?

Did you update with bootloader unlocked ?
Because I am afraid of bricking the phone while updating to android 10 with bootloader unlocked and camera api2 enabled. Please help me! Should I locked the bootloader ?
In fact, I tried to lock with command "fastboot OEM lock" but it failed. I did not mod the device except enabling api2. I haven't unlocked critical bootloader.

I have unlocked bootloader but I did not critical unlocked as I only had to enabled camera api2 persistently ; which I did successfully on android pie few month ago. Now my problem is I am in dilemma whether to install android 10 OTA, like I used to previously with unlocked bootloader or shall I have to relock and format device before updating ?
I have neither installed any custom recover nor any other mod except enabling api2 using temporary patched boot

I've tried many ROMs, the only one that is working flawlessly is Resurrection Remix (i'm on 8.6.5).
It fully supports both MIUI Cam and GCam (i'm using the_dise 4.5) with good video and audio recording, astro photography and Slow Motion. They also support selecting second camera for shooting.
All the other custom roms based on aosp have the crappy audio recording issue.
Hi all,
is it possible to unroot the device, maybe through flashing stock firmware, and then use GPay as before rooting it? Even if the bootloader remains unlocked?
Thx in advance

How did you root it? Google Pay works fine on my rooted phone but there's a couple steps to get it to work.
It does work, but I want to sell my Mi 11, because I got a Mi 11 Ultra for not too much money. So I want to flash the original Software on the Mi 11 again. The question is, if GPay will still work after that.
I rooted it by converting the Boot.img file with the magisk app

Not sure. I don't have any experience with just an unlocked bootloader. I always have root along with it. Why aren't you locking the bootloader as well? China Variant? Usually, it makes more sense to lock the bootloader as well if you're selling it ?
It's the german variant. Isn't it risky to relock the bootloader?
There's no relocking risk if you flash the stock firmware beforehand.
Ok, thank you
Ok, thank you
I've tried before with several Xiaomi devices before Mi11 (mi8, mi9, poco x3 nfc and pro), but it surely works.

It's risky to lock with a different regional ROM on them. The only one that I know for sure about is the China variant of the phone which can only be locked with the OEM china firmware. The original ROM the phone came locked with is no risk at all. It might also be that the China variant is an outlier because they're not allowed to have GAPPS there.
My friend flashed Indonesian fastboot Rom in indian RN10 Pro Max and locked the Bootloader, now he is trying to add acount and device to unlock it again but if fails everytime.
An error shows "Couldn't add. Device basic data verification failed"
Please see the attached screenshot.
Do you have any clue how to solve the issue?
you were should use only format data not all & relock.
There is three .bat orders:
one with erasing user data.
one with keep user data.
one with format and relock.
In your case you have to unlock it again.
Can't unlock, can't add account and device. Always shows the error mentioned in the post.
I had to abandon my previous xiaomi phone just for this reason. Accidentally locked the bootloader and couldn't unlock it ever. "The find device storage corrupted, your device is unsafe now".
Couldn't add miui account.

My friend told me that he did the same in his Redmi Note 8 and then re-unlocked and flashed stock regions's rom, it was fine for redmi 8 so he did this in RN10 Pro too.

Could you please share how to flash? since bootloader is locked cant flash anything.
Maybe you did not get my point, we are stuck in another region's ROM with locked bootloader.
Try find Xiaomi repair support center and tell them to help you flash official Indian ROM for you.
You can boot into the system, and the device said it's locked and secure, so it's not hard brick. Should be fine for them to help out, if the warranty is covered under the policy.
Be prepared for data loss, so you need to backup what you want to keep.
Don't tell them you flash a wrong region ROM. Just say the phone seems a bit strange, so want them to help clean flash and update official latest ROM.

You cant flash fastboot ROM with locked bootloader.
I own redmi note 10 pro global. I unlocked the bootloader, installed custom recovery, cuatoms roms. Then i flashed indonesian miui will default option, which locked the bootloader.
I booted the device, added account for unlocked and the same time i rebooted fo fastboot and ran miunlock tool and it just unlocked the bootloader. No7days or 30days error at all.
Now im unlocked and using miui global.
Same thing happend with my friend.
He did the same and faced no issue he is again unlocked lol.

Hi,
I have a Chinese Mi 11 Ultra. I have used the Mi flash tool to flash the EU based version of the ROM but I did not lock the bootloader. This has brought in some problems, such as GPay not working, which I dont really mind but the Mcdonalds app with the coupons also wont start up.
I am wondering, if I get the EU miui13 fastboot rom (original from Xiaomi), and use the mi flash tool to flash it, can I also lock the bootloader? Will it be fine or will it brick the device?
I believe this answers your question: https://c.mi.com/thread-2584760-1-1.html
The TLDR is you can only lock bootloader in China devices if you flash the China ROM. Some people claim to have successfully flashed China ROMs on Glogal phones and locked the bootloader without any issues but you'd be taking a risk.

Hi, Thanks for the answer. Guess I cant lock the bootloader then. Do you know of anyway to get the services working that require a locked bootloader?
