Hey guys,
I just put on a cheap but decent flat screen protector and reregistered my finger prints. Also turned up the sensitivity to high but I have issues with secure apps in the dark. For example my bank apps etc and after 3? Failed log on then other apps disable the fingerprint login that was working.
This is super irritating.
I just set it to auto unlock at my home and with my watch but those of course don't work with the bank apps etc.
Have you seen this also/any advice?
Bank app didn't work this morning, took off the generic screen protector and it worked like a charm. Ringer to look for a Whitestone glass screen...

I got a new tempered glass screen protector, however, it is covering the proximity sensor located directly to the left of the top speaker. Since it is covering the sensor, I am unable to access the dial screen during calls 9 out of 10 times unless i keep swiping my finger on top of the sensor to get it to work. I got AndroSensor to test out the sensor and it does stay at 0.0in 90% of the time. When it does work, the value returned is 2.0in. I really don't want to replace this screen protector because it is nice and love the smoothness of it but unable to use the keypad during calls is too much.
Is there a way to manually turn on the dial screen during calls? Tried swiping, pinching, you name it.
Is there a hidden setting I could try like entering *#0*# on some phones for a workaround solution?
Is there a way to modify the settings of the proximity sensor? I am rooted.
The weird thing is there is a cutout on the protector but it is on the right side... Most of the pictures I saw of tempered glass for Nexus 6 had the left side covered but right side cut out as well. What's on the right side that is more important than the proximity sensor? Did they not know? Blah sorry for rant...
Its a problem with your tempered glass, contact the company whom you bought it from. Request a defect.
Theres a tempered glass thread in the accessories section where they have the same problem depending on what tempered glass you purchased.
Thanks zephiK, I'll check out that thread!
The below mentioned fix is for brand new Nexus 6.
Did you try going to settings , accessibility , power button ends call, toggle that on and off.
After completing the above mentioned step. Reboot your phone and try making a call. I hope the issue get resolved.
I tried this step on an unrooted phone, which was recieved just yesterday.
I got this fix from some other thread.
Hello,
I bought the Moto X4 through Amazon with the Ads and latter hated seeing them so I paid for the difference to get them off. I issue is that Everytime I unlock the using the fingerprint sensor I it just takes me to my lock screen and then I have to swipe up or I have to use my fingerprint again to take to my home screen. It did the same thing while I had the Amazon Ads i always had to do it twice to unlock my device completely.
Does any body else have that issue or is there a way for it to be just on scan and take me directly to my home screen?
I'm on the Android One version on Project Fi, and that is not how mine works. While the screen is off, I press my finger on the sensor, and it bypasses the lock screen to open my phone immediately. Works the same with both fingers I have added.
The G5 Plus had a faster fingerprint sensor.
Is there any way to use my fingerprint scanner only once and directly take me to the home screen instead of the lock screen?
Mine works like that. Just touch it and unlock directly to the home screen. Idk why your didn't. Try to remove fingerprint unlock and set it again. Must work like it should.
My guess is that this is a behavior of the Amazon version that shows ads on the lock-screen, so they have to force you to take an extra step so you actually see the ads.
Hello people
Also, does any of you have a problem with the fingerprint reader response when using night reading (red filter mode for less eye fatigue).
By day (auto contrast set - stock) and the reader responds without problems.
However, when it gets dark and the phone starts to use night reading, the reader is often unresponsive.
Of the 4 scanned images, it usually takes only one, so I have to put my finger the same way to unlock the phone.
I use protective glass (9H 2,5D curved, tempered by Sigisi).
But I think there will be no problem, because the reader reacts with the glass without problems during the day.
Thanks for the reaction.
I guess that the night mode plus the protective glass is a bad combination
Did you set the fingerprint after applying the glass or before?
With the night reader mode it shouldn't be any problem. The phone automatically, when it detects a finger on the sensor, disables All screen filters. If you notice, when the blue light of the sensor appears, you'll notice that some colors lower it's contrast for a more precise scan. And with the glass, I have a non branded 5D glass and it works perfect. In the only situation that fails reading my finger, it's when I have my fingers wet (by the swimming pool) and wrinkled, but I think that it happens with every Fingerprint scanner. If the scanner works without the glass. The problem is the glass. If not. You want the warranty to remain valid
After aplying
Im thinking about buying this phone, but what worries me if fingerprint scanner works well with protective glass?
I'm using generic tempered glass from the start. Even registering my fingerprints with glass on. No problem so far. Just little advised,I'm using only my right thumb to unlock, and what I did is I repeatedly registered the fingerprint while I'm holding the phone so it will be more accurate.
By the way. I' also set my phone to be on reading mode at night.so far no problem with it. I'm on miui 11.3.3,stable official global rom.

Just use a glass one and it should be fine, at least for me its 100%
Hi together,
I`m comming from a pixel 4 xl and a Samsung galaxy s10.
The fingerprint Scanner is pretty slow compared to the s10 one.
I know how fast a optical scanner can be regarding a Oneplus Phone and it's not as sensetive to a glas screen protector as the sonic one.
So the s20 Fe s fingerprint sensor has the Potential.
Unforatunately it's slow and inaccurate. Is this only me having this feeling? Compared to the s10s sensor its super slow and you have to have your Finger on the screen way longer. Also it's more unreliable.
S10 8/10 tries.
S20 fe 6/10 tries.
Overall im pretty disappointed.
I came from the Pixel 4 xl due to annoying masks not working with face unlock.
But the fingerprint Scanner of this Phone is giving me a hard time to.
I am coming from the LG G6 with the fingerprint sensor in the power button on the rear. I really prefer that setup because you can use it by feel, and it was really quick (could have my phone unlocked before having it out of my pocket, if I wanted). But I find the S20 FE just fine. A tad slower and more finicky with placement, but fast enough and I hardly ever have failures. My main complaint is that you have to be quick to remove your finger after it unlocks, else you could activate the screen at the location of the fingerprint. For this reason I only have 4 icons in the bottom area of my screen instead of 5, and nothing in the row above that.
The only other in-screen fingerprint sensor I've used was the TCL 10 pro, which I found much worse than the FE.
Also, I registered my fingerprints initially with the plastic shipping protector on, and did not re-do them after applying a glass protector. So it has been pretty much fuss-free.
Once I removed the factory-installed plastic screen protector my success rate jumped from 6/10 to about 9/10. Might be placebo though.
In Display, enable Increase Touch Sensitivity
You probably have a problem with your phone. I had S10 until I bought S20 FE 5G (I gave S10 to my son). The fingerprint sensor is ok and faster than the ultrasonic one on the S10. I specify that it is valid for glass protection. On the S10 I had 'whitestone dome glass' and on the S20 I had Spigen glass. What worries me about the optical sensor is the security because I often use it for online payments.
I found the fingerprint unlock really slow until today. I changed screen refresh rate to 120Hz and as a result it feels a lot faster when unlocking. Maybe it also more reliable, because it didnt need that much time to unlock, where i can move the finger.
You can make fingerprint scanner faster by changing some options:
1.change refresh rate to 120hz
2.in developer options change animation settings (all 3 settings to 0.5)
3.go to biometrics and security-biometrics preferences-disable
4.advanced features-reduce animations-enable
5.and last thing to do go apps settings-click on 3 dots on top of the corner-special access-optimise battery usage-change to all tab-search for com.samsung.android.biometrics.app.setting-disable optimisation
Now you can unlock your screen with just tapping on fingerprint area (dont need to hold)
Also adding the same fingerprint twice will improve the possibility of success unlocks.
Works perfectly with full screen protector.

Thanks. Disabling biometrics optimizer made it super fast now

Make it even faster by going into fingerprint settings and disable " show animation on unlock"
Lifehack regarding to how to make fingerprint sensor faster:
1. Remove all fingerprints
2. Set 60 Hz display refresh rate
3. Add fingerprints
4. Set back 120 Hz display refresh rate
Now sensor works much faster. At least for me.
Hi together,
I switchted Form s20 Fe 5g to s21. The trueth ist, that the Fingerprint Scanner of the s21 is was better.
There is no comparison... It is more reliable, faster, needs less time rest the finger on the screen and the area to scan is way bigger.
There is no going back, after you once uses the s21s fingerprint scanner.
Has anyone gotten enrolled in fingerprint unlock with a screen protector? Changed the setting is for sensitive on the display for screen protector. Nothing works. Get almost there. Used 3 different screen protectors. At the facial works
Pixel 7 here working perfectly fine with a glass screen protector I got off of AMZN.
Pixel 7 here as well with screen protector.
Had no difference before/after the protector at all.
I used the phone for 2-3 days without the protector before I put it on, and can't really say there is any difference whatsoever in terms of sensitivity etc.
