Getting wi-fi calling to work - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

I have enabled wi-fi calling on the phone. The feature is enabled with the mobile operator. However, it does not work. The operator blames Xiaomi and claims that they have not fully implemented this feature on this specific model.
Can someone confirm or deny that this feature is not working with Android supplied by Xiaomi?
If indeed the operator is correct and Xiaomi is to blame with not implementing wi-fi calling, will I be able to activate it by installing an 'independent' Android OS?
Thanks

The description on Google store for this app is as follows:

Carrier Services provides services to support RCS (Rich Communication Services) messaging in Google’s Messages app. It collects diagnostic and crash data to ensure these services operate smoothly.

Can you explain the connection between this app and wi-fi calling?

I don't use VoWiFi/VoLTE but package name for Carrier services is:
com.google.android.ims
Google about if not familiar IMS = Internet Multimedia Subsystem in (3,5G), 4G and 5G networks and how VoLTE and VoWiFi (and Rich Communication Services = RCS) are based on the IMS architecture

Thank you both. I'll try to install and will return with an update.

It seems that carrier services were already installed on the device. The installed version of the app is last one.
Any other ideas?

Try another carrier's SIM and/or ask the same thing you asked the first carrier.
Regarding calling WiFi (voWiFi) in custom ROM, just browse >the threads<.

This is the another carrier... The first one did not support Xaiomi at all. This one supports wi-fi calling on other Xaiomi models but not this one.
Regarding the custom ROM in the thread you referred me to , I could not find a way to tell whether wi-fi calling is indeed supported. Perhaps someone who installed one of them can testify?

FIX: cannot download from Play Store on Cellular Data...Solution !

Many users including myself cannot download anything from the Play Store on 3G H or H+ E or CDMA..The download will fail and you will receive 'Invalid Package' error message each time.
Once connected to WiFi everthing works fine...
After trying various fixes, ROMS, asking questions, and hours spent researcing i have found a fix. The problem lies not with the phone but the Network Provider, I use Vodafone AU on my factory unlocked but Telstra delivered I9305 GT, Since Vodafone has not yet released this version they have not set up their proxy for the Google Play store. If you are facing issues when downloading from the Play Store, try this:
Settings - Wireless and networks - More settings - Mobile networks - Access Point Name \ (name of operator apn) \
DELETE: PROXY and PORT configuration !!! (leave the MMS Proxy and MMS Port alone)

After some search, I found that the 'Media' process should also have background Data enabled for Google Play to work on 3G/Data connection. I had restricted background data for this process as well. After removing the restriction on Background data for both 'Media' & 'Play' Store, I am now able to download over 2G/3G connection as well.
The 'Update over Wifi' setting had nothing to do with the issue apparently.

I also had the same problem. Everthing works fine in Wifi for play store but not on mobile data.
Other apps works on mobile data as well.
After going crazy overnight trying to find answers, I stumbled on this thread and enabled background data on media then it worked like a charm!

What are all these processes/apps?

Hi,
Firewall is reporting the followings are requesting outgoing network connection. They are lumped together under one (probably no app ID?).
What are these? And do they really need network connection?

Slpc - sensor low power core. As found on Google+ - used by Motorola assist app. AFAIK this service talks with google to known driving activity
Fused location - google's locations API. I think something google now related.
Location services - name said all. Network (not gps) location
Assist - Motorola assist. Not sure but Motorola asked for permission exchange data for this app on first run. Anyway, driving activity used google.
Dropbox - autoupload photos to Dropbox.

Yes, these really do need connection because they all use some amount of data. Most use verry small amount, though.

[Q] phone compromised? Attempted install of Bluetooth File Transfer

I got a notification that an installation failed while I was sleeping. (It failed, most likely, because my play store/services are broken at the moment.) I didn't request the installation and it's not an update.
-I'm running a trimmed stock ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2720664
-My Google pass is decent, and I haven't been logging in on anything but my own hardware.
-I'm not running any other apps by this developer
-Google account security shows no strange, or even recent, logins
-Wifi was on and connected, bluetooth was off
-I'm on a new wifi network with weak security
Here's the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.medieval.blueftp
Any insights or questions before I wipe?

Someone walked into your room and tried to download it while you slept. Don't know of any methods of accessing and controlling an Android phone without having other software previously installed first.
Yeah, my best guesses are:
a rogue app / ROM (though I've only installed apps from the play store)
a malfunction in the play store servers
a hacker sniffed my auth token for Google over wifi somewhere (I've been on a couple of public-ish networks lately)
I can't imagine a malfunction on the phone's end that would successfully trigger the install of a specific, new app.

need some guidance here, how do i get everything to work?
i found out that there's a bug for data vs wifi - you need to connect to wifi in order to sign in.

I can confirm this, apps like "Google", "Voice Search" and "Assistant" time out with errors when using data on T-Mobile, but it works on wifi. I can't navigate to a street using assistant over 4G, but if I go directly into the Maps app and use the microphone icon in Maps it works correctly.
Does anyone know if there's a fix for this?

is it just for Tmobile or google services don't work on any mobile data?
Go to Apps & Notifications > Google services
Same issue
I am having similar issues. But, at one point google play store was stuck on loading. Also, gmail wasnt sending or receiving emails.
The problem comes and goes. Like, just now, I couldn't load any YouTube videos.
When I connect on WiFi, all the problems go away and switching back to mobile data. Works for a bit.
It is also only Google services. Twitter, WhatsApp, chrome, all fine.
@op, what sim card slot are you using?
Got it to work.

If you go to Settings -> Applications -> See all ### Apps -> [scroll to and tap on Outlook app] -> Data Usage -> [turn on "Background Data", and "Unrestricted Data Usage" options]
Tell me if that works. I did this step for apps: Calendar [google version from Play Store], Carrier Services [from Play Store] Gmail, Google, Google Play, Google Play Services, Google Play Store, Google Services Framework, Hangouts.
I gave them all unrestricted data access and full permissions just to be safe. It's not like there's a risk of running out of battery on this phone, lol!
edit: I am on the China rom version and I see these settings.

I flashed into the WW version. So, all my little issues went away.
My instructions was for Google services.
Have your tried to go to battery optimisation and turning off optimisation for Outlook?
Also, there might be something under mobile manager to turn off as well?
Hi! I specifically made an account to reply, or rather, to reconfirm, that issues about this topic still persists in my phone.
Bought the Tencent Edition of the ROG Phone 2 few days back, I first encounter this issue yesterday when I open my Maps app and the map didn't load (grey screen) and at that time I was using my mobile data. Searched the net how to fix it, and did a few tweaks (mainly clearing cache, data and removing google account) and thankfully the map loads. However, another issue arises, I can't use Google app, Play Store and can't login on Google Maps. When I try to log in my account, I get the "There was a problem communicating with Google servers", and I assume most of you guys here had that exact problem.
I tried everything that almost every forums recommends. Starting from rebooting the phone, uninstalling updates from Google Play Store, clear the cache and storage of Google Play services and Google Play Store again, checked if my Apps & notifications/Google Services is on, turned on all notifications; permissions; background data and unrestricted data usage on all corresponding Google apps and services (Carrier Services, Google app, Google Play services, Google Play Store, Maps) and turned off battery optimization for the mentioned apps. Not any of the above worked for me, the only thing that resolves it is when I used Wifi to log in.
I know that this may be a minor issue and I know that I won't feel any of it hindering my daily phone usage. But I'm really bothered by the fact that something in my phone doesn't work normally as it should. I have been using Samsung phones for the longest time and haven't experienced such problems before. Is this really a bug and can't be fixed till who knows when, or is there something that I overlooked? Thanks much and sorry for the lenghty post. Blessings
cn version has this issue
fixed with ww rom
cn version is destinated to oriental market especcially
Thanks much for the help!
I don't have any experience in modding ROM, but I did find a guide here on how to do that. I'll think about whether I'm gonna try flashing my ROM or not, because... flashing ROMs will void the phone's warranty, yes?

If you bought a phone that was meant for the Chinese market in another country, you never really had a legit warranty right to begin with. (at least not with Asus, maybe with the seller if they have such policies)
Chinese ROMs have all Google services blocked. (Google services are banned in China). So you need to flash to WW ROM, sometimes seller will do it when they sell a Chinese phone to a different market, but apparently not in your case.

That makes sense lol.
Alright, I'll try flash my ROM later. Any noob-friendly guide you can recommend to me? Other than the guide by AryanAA.
And um, I know I can probably learn this if I searched for it, but does flashing your ROM resets/wipes your whole phone? And is there any major changes I should know (like maybe I won't be able to use some features ever again)? And is it kinda similar to rooting your phone?
Sorry for the noob questions, any help is much appreciated. Tqvm!

Hi guys, coming back to the forums after a long hiatus!
I have this issue also... Gapps don't work great on mobile data but perfect on WiFi... Some are fixed after clearing data but some are persistently bad such as gdrive which is important to me...
My phone is from ebay, its a tencent with a global rom and I'm in the UK...
Looking at my device info, it looks like my phone has a WW rom but a CN fingerprint... I will have the fingerprint changed today, update to 1910 and drop an update...

AT&T Specific Software

I got my Pixel 5 unlocked directly from Google but somehow AT&T got some of its custom software on my phone because I get the 5GE logo when I'm on mobile. Even more annoying is the lack of Preferred Network in the settings to prefer LTE (what AT&T calls "5GE") over 5G.
Any way to remove the AT&T software?
