Noob in the middle of a conundrum - Introductions

Hey everybody. Short-time lurker, first-time (well...2nd-time) poster. I've been browsing XDA trying to root my phone to clear away all the traces of AT&T so I can switch carriers.
This forum clearly has a ton of information scattered about. And I'm just having a hard time, as a first-time phone l33t h4x0rz trying to keep track of it all.
Hopefully someone will see my desperate plea in the LG G8x thread.

Welcome to the xda family.
Cheers.

Thank you ipdev.

Hello, just introducing

Just wanted to say HI to everyone. After lurking around here for a long time, finally decided to Register. I won't bother people if i can help myself, so that will always be my first option. I look forward to learning and sharing my opinions on things. Name is John, from California, hearing impaired. I ordered a Nexus 7, I couldn't pass up the specs at that price. I get it today. Hello again, I suppose I'll be seeing you all around
-PS-So...how about them captchas?

Welcome to XDA. Considering you're a new member, it would be good for you to introduce yourself to the community in The "Say Hi" Thread.

Hi @taylormae94! Looks like we've been a bit too patient as no one responded here yet but then again there's so many posts here. Anyway, a belated but still very warm welcome to the XDA family!

Hello there.

Hi everyone.
So a quick intro from me.
I'm Elapid1320, I'm a tech hobbyist from Scotland looking to turn my interests into a profession.
Mostly I'm into digital forensics and data recovery but I've recently started getting interested in mobile forensics. I'm still fairly new at this and I'm honestly just here to read, learn, ask questions and so on.
Nice intro and interests! Welcome to XDA and enjoy the forums endless information!
Cheers

Hello XDA

hello, this place is intimidating and i have always been reluctant to join until i got stuck googling for 2 days without answers, anyway it great being here
Welcome to XDA Development and Enjoy the forums
Cheers
Howdy!
Sorry if this place cam across as a bit intimidating, lots of things here are complicated, but everyone here will help with easier stuff too! I started knowing nothing, and now I know a lot about devices, rooting, etc. Hopefully you will find the help you require! Have a great day!

I'm new to XDA so here I go!

I used XDA for the first time this evening, and you guys provided so much background help, that I had to join and I made a profile.
I am 50+ where sometimes new tech just leaves me shaking my head.
I appreciate the advice here, as well as a gentle forum where "Android semi-Ludites" can feel comfortable and get real advice that I can understand.
You guys are so patient and used normal language to help explain how to fix problems.
Great to be here!
Kitty Crab
