My A307G is not turrning on anymore. I try the hard reset or safe mode buttons but it does not turn on. I connect it to my computer to see if I would hear a "connected" chime, nothing. I don't know if the battery is just dead that it does not hold a charge anymore. But I just had this phone for less than a year. I don't know what to do.
fixed it. had to open up the phone and then charge the battery like doing a jumpstart on a car.

Here's an interesting discovery - would be interested to know if anyone else has the same issue.
Basically, my old WM6.5 phone (Touch Pro) used to take charge from a powered USB socket, even when the computer was turned off.
Plugging the HD7 into the same USB socket, and the phone won't charge. That's fine, I can understand there may be valid reasons for it.
What's *really* interesting is that if I leave the phone plugged into this powered down PC overnight, the battery is pretty much dead in the morning. Compare this to leaving the phone unplugged completely, and I'd generally see 15% battery usage overnight.
The solution is pretty simple - don't leave the phone plugged into this USB socket, but it seems odd.
Any chance someone else can try this?
Is the Zune client on your pc open because my phone will not charge with zune open
but once i exit out of zune on the pc it charges fine...
ive lost my charger and too lazy and cheap to buy a new one so im just using the pc to do it....
no - the PC is actually powered down. However, with soft power switches, the USB port stilll can get power, as proven by my ability to charge my Touch Pro from USB when the PC's off.
I'm not sure what could be causing this, but i will try to see if mine is the same too, then i will post feedback
I've charged mine on a USB port at work, but there isn't any Zune software in the way there... Honestly, I don't sync through USB, so I never noticed this, but at work I have used the USB port on our camera system to charge my phone...
most likely cause is the fact that the computer reduces the amount of current send to the usb port when powered down.
normaly all that is needed is a move of the mouse or a key press to power the computer back on.
now both the keyboard and mouse are low power devices.
now my guess is that the touch pro needs less power in standby then the hd7, and therefore the first will charge and the second will drain.
so to solve this question you need to measure the power comming from the computer in standby (powered on it's 500mA), and both the phones in standby mode.

Here's what I find odd:
The phone will not charge unless powered on. For example, if I have the phone turned off, and plug it into the wall charger it came with, the phone boots up. It will NOT charge while turned off.
Anyone else notice this?

i saw someone mention that the led won't turn on during charging while the phone is turned off.
sadly he didn't wait long enough to see if the led turns on when the battery is fully charged.
also i have no idea which model he was using.

I posted earlier about charging issues on the HD7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849548
What I found was that if you have the HD7 plugged into the USB port and then you suspend/shut down the PC, it'll stop charging (while all other phones I've used - iPhones, HD2, etc. - will keep charging).
Once you suspend/shut down, you need to then unplug and replug the HD7, and it should start charging again. Not sure why this happens, but I need to do it every night, otherwise I have a dead phone in the morning.

That is apparently a "feature" of WP7-- the phone will automatically turn on when plugged in.
I appear to be having wired issues related to the USB port as has been previously reported on the Galaxy S2.
When not plugged in to anything, it constantly says it is charging. It will not let me select between USB debugging mode as it says the cable is connected.
Despite it's belief that it is charging, when I actually plug it in to the mains to charge, it doesnt charge!!
If I power off the device, it shuts down correctly, however it will constantly switch between the grey battery icon, then a almost full green one, then off. It then wont allow me to turn on the device. Ive tried plugging it in to the mains (but I guess that as it wont charge this way, this is why it wont let me turn it on this way either) the only way I can boot it up is holding vol up, middle button and power together for 10 seconds or so. It then goes to CWM recover where I can reboot the device
If I plug in a jig, that allows me to connect a USB flash drive, it all seems to work OK. it no longer says it's charging, and i'm able to mount the drive.
The only way I can actually make it charge, is by plugging in to a PC.
Im very careful with my USB connectors, and I can only think that slight dampness may have entered as the phone has been with me in the bathroom during showers.
I dont want to send my phone in for repair, my first plan is to wait it out and hopefully any moisture dries out. Ive tried cleaning the inside of the USB port, but it makes no difference.
If I changed the USB port myself, a) is that a hard task, b) would it solve my issue?
I had a very similar problem with my note.
Solution was to take out the battery and leave the cover off, in a dry p;ace over night. It could definitely be related to dampness in your phone.
Hi guys and gals!
I've been experiencing these problems for a long time, but it didn't piss me off enough till today. Is it only me? Whenever the phone is charging it takes me forever to turn it on. If I press the power button this stupid battery appears and nothing happens. The same if I hold the power for 8-10 seconds (hard reset). I always manage to turn it on somehow eventually but it can take a while and I never know what actually made the damn thing to come alive. Are there others out there suffering the same fate?
seems like the problem many are having with the usb charging port. My problem is that phone keeps charging even after the usb cable is disconnected. the phone thinks its still charging and goes through the battery charging animation yet the phone is not even connected. then the phone will not turn on at all. So the way I would turn it on would be to connect it to usb charging and wait 5 minutes, then click on the power button and hold it a few seconds. then the phone would turn on.
Here is a test you can do to confirm if the usb port is going bad. when the phone is off and won't turn on and battery charging animation is on, take a plastic strip and try to push in the usb pins inside the charging port. I mean, to push the pins inside the phone, straight back. then turn on the phone and it will turn on. if that is the case, then your usb port circuit has to be changed inside the phone.

Yup, this happens to me too. But not really a biggy, more of an inconvenience, but an inconvenience that I could live with as I don't start/reboot my phone plugged in all the time and if ever, i just unplug it, start, and voila, problem solved.
My Xperia Z1 died without reason. (Dead like in nothing happens, not even a led when connected to USB).
I tried everything to revive it. Finally, I opened it and removed the battery for 5 minutes. After that, at least the led showed a color when connected. But still cannot turn it on.
I tried with the Xperia Companion to "fix the phone", and the process worked well. But then, the phone still does not turn on.
When it is disconnected, nothing happens, it is just a brick. If it is connected, it turn on the LED in blue, but nothing else. Some times, after pressing power and the volume buttons, it shows the battery level.
Any help? I do not know what else to do.
Disconnect _wait for 1 minute and reconnect the battery connector, then connect the charger

Thank you for replying.
I did that already (5 minutes instead of 1), but did not work. At this point I started to think that it is a hardware problem, because when the cable is not plugged the phone does not turn on (and when it is plugged it only charge, or turn on in that bizarre Xperia flashboot mode).
maybe it is a battery problem which it damaged
Thanks for the reply. It doesn't seem so, because it does not start even when I remove the battery and try with the phone plugged.
Anyway, I already gave up on it.
Hi guys, I have a huge problem.
Currently I'm on vacation in Croatia, where it's around 38-40 C every day. One day I had to log into an unsecured wi-fi. I know, i shouldn't have done that but it was urgent. Well, the same night (while charging) my phone turned off itself and I had to turn it back on on the next day. It worked the whole day until I opened the camera. Suddenly the phone went off and I wasn't able to turn it on. At first I thought the battery has drained so I plugged it into the original OP charger (dash). It gets warm while charging, but the LED is not turning on. After an hour of charging I still can't turn the phone on. Not even after a charging over night. There's also no vibration after holding the power button, neither holding the power-button for 20 (or more) seconds . I can't even get into recovery mode by holding volume-down and power.
I'm on original Resurrection Rom.
Is there anything else I could try? Could it be that some hardware is damaged (overheated)?
Since I'm on vacation there's currently no way for me to do any kind of unbricking until I find some phone-repair service.
I'm not a pro, but Im pretty sure the problem occur on the hardware side since the phone is not taking the charge and no vibration
I once had an Android phone (not 3t), the same thing occured, the phone I had had some hardware damage near the battery so I experienced the same problems you listed, ended up getting a new phone
Overheating is probably not the issue, at least not the 40C air temps you mentioned. These devices can probably something like 60C (internal temp at CPU or battery) before seeing any damage. Lot of folks live where it's just as hot as where you are, if not hotter. So I have to think the device is designed to work under such conditions.
Try holding the power button longer (a minute or more). I don't know about this device. But on my old HTC M8, there were instances where the phone powered off by itself. And the power button needed to be held over a minute, to make it boot. Although no charge LED is concerning.
Mine did the same a few days ago, was tethering and the phone just shut off. Buttons didn't work, no vibration, no charge LED, no anything. Thought it died but after plugging it into a PC it was detected as QHSUSB_BULK (hardbrick).
But it turned on normally after a minute lol.
Hallo. Mine also crashed. I was in the sunset playing game and taking pictures. Then phone suddenly got so warm and lagged, It turned off itself. No reaction. I connected into charger and then turned on hopefully. I think you must take care, because it has metal body and easy heating, and when heating it's lagging and not works good
My opinion is that it's overheat problem

You will see Qualcomm download mode message (QHSUSB_BULK) whenever the device is powered off. It needs to be powered on, at least to bootloader (or recovery or OS) for the PC to connect in any other way.
Update
After 3 days, it finally turns on and charges as expected. Don't know if it has to do anything with it, but i let it in the charger for 1 day.
but now another problem occured.
every time I press the homebutton the phone crashes and goes off. this only happenes if the fingerprintscanner is not requested.
i.e. unlocking phone with fingerprint, does not crash, but... pressimg homebutton to go back to home screen crashes.
