Hi Folks,
I want to develop some apps to use on my old P20 Pro. I need to teach myself how to code and develop apps on Android and given the phone is running Huawei's EMUI, it might be worth running "pure" Android on it, so I am learning Android and not EMUI specifically.
Note, I am starting fresh in this journey so I don't fully understand the differences in the platforms and I want my learning journey to be as progressive as possible so.......
a) is it possible to do this and if so, how do I convert the phones to (EMUI 10 & EMUI 12) Android and which version?
b) is it worth doing to avoid confusing the two Android versions?
Thanks folks.

Hi!
Anybody have an idea how to port ROM emui (Honor 8 huawei Manufacturer), for our OnePlus3/3t ? Like Miui 8
Thanks.
probably not possible. Huawei does not like distributing any data about their software. They still havent released any kernel information. They use a completely different processor in the Honor 8 so itd be quite tough getting the honor 8 version of EMUI to work. Maybe EMUI 1 or 2 which use snapdragon processors would be easier but they are also very different. Besides its not made for western audiences to enjoy. It is strictly a chinese market so not many OP3T users would be okay with not having an app drawer. Believe me i used the Huawei Mate 8 before coming to the 3T. Super obscure phone with little development going on. I doubt anyone has really tried to pull EMUI off a Huawei phone ever for use in another. It is probably the worst software environment on any android phone. Not just saying that because it is my opinion on it but i noticed some horrid standby times along with no app drawer.
Emui is terrible UI.
Why you want it?
Basically speaking, I don't like EMUI.
My last phone was Huawei mate8 and it was also my last Huawei's phone. Why ? Because Huawei' ROM is rare people to develop and Huawei is hard to release its source code.
It's just like Xiaomi ... Common problem from China mobile company : Won't release their source code easily ...
Hello everyone, I have no experience with crating apps for Android or creating ROMs and such, I would like some help on how to start doing it in my free time.
For example, I was thinking about when Lineage OS 16 finally gets released, to have a look on the code (I'm not new to coding though I haven't worked on any serious projects yet, mainly because I don't know what to work on) and maybe try to port it to my PRA-LX1 device. I just want someone to show me what to look for.
Thank you for your time.
I am not really familiar with the recent Android ROMs but I heard about this thing called Android Go. Kind of made me curious, It is made for entry level smartphones with low specs.
Anyone experimenting with it?
Does it need some tweaking like other ROMs to be usable on this device. Google doesn't help so much since this Go edition barely a year old.
my friends nokia 8 sirocco just received another buggy android 10 update, and he wants to move back to the latest stable android 9 so that his phone will actually work properly until nokia releases a working update.
normally i would be able to do this with some reading, but after some reading the forum seems a little bare for the 8 sirocco. this has left me not knowing where to start with this device.
can anyone offer any advice for sources, software and such to help with this situation?
One month and three weeks ago, Google ceased support for Android 10. However, Huawei has pledged to continue providing security updates until May 31st, 2024, and even release EMUI 13. What are your thoughts on what the future may hold?
Very good remark.
There are so many cr*ppy Huawei 'Updates' and 'Blogs' and on some I read that EMUI 13 would still come and it would be based on Android 13. They are working on it....
In that case we can happily continue to use the P30 Pro until 1/1/2025 or smth like that.
On another blog I read that EMUI 13 would come but based on Android 10, in that case I'm not very interested in a new chinese-flavoured layout with a few new icons.
My personal fear is that Android 10 will be the terminus for the P30 Pro. (because Google will not grant Huawei the Android 13 update)
On the final note, I still love that phone and its camera capabilities.
