Watch 5 Pro-temperature sensor option missing?
So got the watch yesterday and so far it's ok,.A little unimpressed by the lack of rotating dial. But going through all the sensor options there is no menu for body temperature even though the sensor is there. Does anyone know where the sensor options are? Or is this just another incomplete...

"Theres no option for the temperature sensors yet. Samsung say it wont be long before its available but are apparently waiting for regulatory clearance."
I'm from the EU too, to be exact, i'm from Hungary. this is available for me..weird (i'm not using any VPN)

I got my Watch 5 yesterday and it seems good. According to Samsung product info, this model is mostly an incremental upgrade to the Watch4 and includes improved heart rate monitoring, slightly longer battery life, and slightly upgraded glass type.
One odd thing I noticed: When I adb to the watch the prompt says:

I thought that is kind of strange.

I was initially concerned 'heartbl' might mean 'heartbleed' which would be an odd name to use. Then again heartbleed, spectre, meltdown, etc. do have a cool ring to them. It would be interesting if a company used CPU vulnerabilities for a product naming scheme.

After wearing the Watch 5 for a couple days it definitely feels like a nicer fit on the wrist. It feels like with the updated shape of the watch bottom that it sits more snugly on the wrist and doesn't move around as much. I see how this could improve heart rate monitoring.

The Watch 5 performs and feels better than my prior watches!

It's like wearing a DVD Player on my watch, since I can't activate must needed functions such as NFC payments because of region locks with CSC... Until I find a solution for this, this is basically walking around with a somewhat expensive watch like a Garmin but with 20% of battery time.

I came from the Galaxy S3 Frontier and my Watch 5 is soooo much better all around. It's lighter and I like the improved voice interactions using Google Assistant (instead of the horrible Bixby). I'm glad they went away with Tizen. Google's Wear OS opens up more possibilities.

So far I like it, for some reason Samsung pay was eating up 1/4 of it's battery and I didn't even have it set up. I uninstalled it using the Galaxy watch 4 debloat instructions and my battery life got substantially better. Right now "Samsung Text to speech engine" and "Find my mobile" apps are the biggest drains, but the battery life, even with the Samsung pay totally blew my old fossil watch out of the water. This watch is better than it in every way.

I picked the watch 5 pro when I got my Pixel 7 pro. I was gonna get the pixel watch but it's too small for my taste. I love the watch 5 pro...2 days battery is sweet.... AOD on always ...

I got a brand new grey Titanium 5 Pro for £250 in the UK through a friend who got it free with a Samsung TV. He decided to stick with the Garmin watch he already had so didn't even open the Watch 5 Pro. Bargain.
And it's fantastic. I'm coming from a Huawei Watch GT2 so despite the good battery life the Samsung has, it's not a patch on th GT2 from which I got over 10 days. But that stupidly long battery life came with a cost, namely little in the way of features and zero app support. The 5 Pro is the best compromise.

Today will be day 1 with the GW5 with D-Buckle 44mm. I set it up last night and wore it on my left wrist all night and my old Fitbit Charge 4 on my right to see how close the sleep tracking is. C4 had 82 as my sleep score and the GW5 80 so I think they are close. So far I am impressed with the GW5. I still have a ton of things to learn and setup on it but I can already tell that I am going to get a lot of use out of it. The display is fantastic and so easy to see out in very bright sunshine. Will follow-up after a week or so of use.
I am from the USA east coast but I now live in South America in Colombia in the Andes Mountains.

1. Can't connect to the phone via wearables. Tried all available workarounds, nothing worked. Last try was trying older versions of Wearables app, that did it for me.
2. Couldn't activate eSIM: Your phone needs an active SIM card to activate an eSIM to the watch.
Obviously the phone has an active SIM and is Connected to the internet via LTE/5G. Didn't find any solution for that, other than reset watch, digging out my old Samung, switch SIM to that, activate eSIM, switch SIM back to 12S Ultra, and reset and reconnect the watch to the 12S Ultra again.
The option in wearables app still gives the SIM not active on phone error, but the eSIM still is active on the watch, and mobile data still works.
It's annoying AF. But other than the atrocious setup I'm happy so far.

Following this guide for wrist size I decided to swap my 44mm wifi model for a 40mm LTE. Really like the 40mm size. Not sure if the tradeoff in battery life will be acceptable but in terms of wearability for my ~16.5 cm wrist the 40mm seems a lot better. I can see myself sleeping with the 40mm watch on my wrist all night whereas the 44mm just seemed to big and bulky to want to use it as a sleep tracker.
A couple things were confusing about setting up the LTE service: 1) The EID is what the customer support rep for my mobile provider wanted when she asked for the SIM. Technically it's called an ESIM but for purposes of activation they consider it a SIM; 2) You have enable a special settings mode in the Galaxy Wearable app to enable "Current QR TestMode" under "Test ESIM Feature". I created a post about this.
As far as battery life, I just switched the font color of basic dashboard to pure white, against a pure black background, which makes it possible to turn down the display brightness a lot. Hopefully that will help extend the battery life.
One minor issue I have is that on the curved complications with the digital dashboard face the font sizes are too tiny for my vision. I really have to squint to read them. I wish that the curved complications had larger fonts.
One last comment: when making an LTE call the call quality was surprisingly excellent. I was able to have a conversation via the watch even while using my hands for other things. The other party said the call quality on their side was excellent.

Good to know about Samsung Pay. I also don't use it but am afraid to debloat since even seemingly unnecessary apps could destabilize the watch if they're uninstalled. It might be safer to disable apps first and if there are no stability issues then they can be uninstalled later.

Metawatch Smartwatch

As I was anticipating getting the Note 2, I realized as my phone got bigger, it would require a different way of use than a smaller device. With the rumored Note 7", if it's allowed to handle calls, it is even more important to me if I upgraded to that to have a convenient way to handle calls without having to pull the whole device out.. Imagine the device in your pocket as the communications hub - you pull it out when you need to deal with the screen, but for simple tasks like calls, your smartwatch and headset would be the only things you need to interact with.
In the past, there were bluetooth headsets with caller ID displays, but I found they're not practical as you still have to look at the display, then put in your ear or you have the display part hanging around your neck/clipped on your shirt like those Sony's I've seen. A watch which can show the caller IDs, incoming texts and emails is more appealing to me.
I read from reviews that other smartwatches were either too bulky, had miserable battery life, or had issues staying connected with the phone reliably. I found the last two issues to be the case with the Sony 2nd gen Smartwatch so sent it back. I loved the promised functionality, but in practice the battery life wouldn't even last the day, which was a dealbreaker. It also would randomly disconnect from my phones so the lack of reliability for what I wanted it for was frustrating.
It seemed the Pebble was everything I was hoping for (on paper, at least), so I backed on Kickstarter and was hoping it would be out by the time I got a Note, but since it's not shipping yet, I went and got the Metawatch Frame. So far I'm really liking it, even though there aren't a lot of widgets/apps developed for it at this early stage. My primary requirement of at least a days worth of battery life (actually can go several days) and reliable bluetooth attachment so that it instantly shows incoming caller ID is working great. Even shows the contacts picture on the watch (in low res monochrome). http://metawatch.myshopify.com - I got the Frame version since I thought Strata looks too bulky.
So far I have it set up to do email/SMS/Caller ID, weather forecasts. You can set up more notifications, but they will eat up battery life and I didn't want to always have every little notification show up on my watch.
You will have to update the firmware on the watch if it ships w/ 1.1 to 1.2 so it supports the Metawatch Community Edition - a simple email to their support will promptly get you a link and instructions to upgrade the FW.

i was using the motorola motoactv until i decided to test how water resistant it was. needless to say, it didnt handle heavy rain very well.

My Motoactv meets my needs. While it isnt water proof, as the above user mentioned, I love it. You can get text, call, weather and Facebook alerts. Rooting the device can add more functions as well.

mmm, i loved it. the only things missing were a vibration function and google maps/navigation out of the box.

UPDATE: Just recieved my Metawatch see next page for update.
The Pebble first caught my eye a little while back and I was planning on getting one. But after learning about the Metawatch the other day and looking at the functionality of both, I just ordered a Metawatch. I read and watched several reviews in coming to my conclusion. I went with the Frame model instead of the Strata because the black model of the strata is on back order (I like simple understated colors).
The main reason was that the Metawatch currently offers more functionality, from what I can tell. Both offer notifications for calls, e-mails & text, but the Metawatch allows you to:
- Answer calls, dismiss calls or answer with speakerphone from the watch (Can't hear or talk from the watch of course, but can answer a take call over BT headset from the
watch after checking it for caller ID)
- Displays weather, something I haven't seen on the Pebble yet.
I also like having widgets on the Metawatch that allows you to have more info on one screen, Time/date, local weather and notifications (e-mail, SMS & calls). I rather have the option to have all this info on one screen.
Likes and dislikes of the Pebble are as fallow...
Like:
- The higher resolution screen than the Metawatche's screen.
- The supposed Runkeeper integration (though not available yet). AS a Runkeeper user this is big to me. (I may get one eventually if the
Runkeeper integration actually comes togeather.
- I like the look of the Pebble over the Strata (though I'm getting the Metawatch Frame witch I think looks as good or better than the pebble).
- The magnetic charging setup is superior the the Metawatche's clumsy silly looking clip.
Dislikes:
- Limited functionality compared to the Metawatch (ablitly to answer (preferably with a BT headset , dismiss or send calls to speakerphone).
I'm sure the Pebble's functionality will expand over time, but it's not yet there, not for me at least.
- The clock faces should have a sub-menu in the in the home screen so there not all in there with music, set alarm and settings options. Not to
mention that the three default clock faces are at the top of the above music, set alarm and settings option then any clock faces you download
are under the music, set alarm and settings options. Again not well thought out.
- It's will probably be 1-3 months before the catch up shipping and are able get watches out to new customers. I'd be willing to wait if it offered
more functionality, as it is I'm not willing to wait.
All things considered I find the Metawatch the more appealing option for me. Though the Runkeeper functionality the Pebble is promised to have in March or so really make me consider getting Pebble eventually. The Metawatch is suppose to have a run tracking app built in But I already use Runkeeper and would like to use one single app to track my runs. Thus far I have found no info in run tracking functionality on the Metawatch so I have no idea what to expect.

I am currently using the Wimm One, but you can't buy them any longer. Mine works pretty good with either my GS3 or GN2.
Just like the OP, I needed something for caller ID, etc.
I really, really wanted an excuse to get the MotoActiv, but the lack of a vibrator motor was a deal-killer for me.
If and when my Wimm dies, I will definitely be getting a suitable replacement. I didn't back the Pebble because I had already had the Wimm.
I am going to go check out the Meta.

I LOVE the idea of a smartwatch! I've been doing extensive research and am intrigued by the available options.
My problem is, I would hate the look of a small color screen on my wrist. It simply doesn't look professional to me. While there are other alternatives out there, none of them does what I'm interested in or are within my price range.
I've looked at I'm Watch, Sony Smart Watch, Pebble, Martian, etc. The only one visually appealing to me is the cookoo. But its only for iPhone!! Who in there right mind would design and release a product that's for the smartphone market, yet be proprietary to one OS. Morons.
So. I'm on a mission to make something myself. And to be honest the design would be rather simple. A watch wjth the following capabilities.
Bluetooth, low powered.
Time mechanism with a separate power source
Vibrate motor
Notification ring light
Manual set time dial
Bluetooth pairing button
Dismiss notification button (long press show battery remaining)
Magnetic charging dock
Android / WP8/ iOS / BB10 App
All I want is a phone that shows me via customizable lights/vibrate pattern whats happening on my phone. I don't need to complete the actions on my watch, to me that's just silly. I can glance and simply see I have a pending email, text, Facebook/twitter notification etc. Best part is, the batter can last for weeks.

The charging clip should come in the box with the watch.
Wow, that shipping cost sucks! Have you considered getting one from e-bay. You can get it for less and save a bunch on shipping. This is where I ordered one last night. I wnet with the Frame model as I wanted it in black and the Strata is back-ordered for the black one.

UPDATE: 2/13/2013
After talking to a few developers (Special thanks to the developer of Augmented Smartwatch Pro) I switched to Community Manager from the Noah Edition of the Metawatch Manager, as recent updates to Noah seem to have caused issues. So far today I have had no freezes and the batter is still reading 100% two and half hours off the charger. Still to early to tell but at least some of the issues may have been related to the update to Noah edition. Noah had an update this morning, but I haven't tried it yet. I'll be trying Augmented Smartwatch Pro soon to see if that is also working better now that I'm using community edition.

UPDATE: 2/14/2013
Since the update to the Community Edition and Noah Edition of the Metawatch Manager apps my watch has worked almost flawless, without freezes and the battery life has improved. Charges it and had it pared with my watch since last night so It lasted 20 - 24 hours. Not the 3 -5 days that the spec sheet claims but the could be the the Metawatch Manager app i'm using. Going to try Noah Edition again tomorrow as it been updated and should not give me the issues I was originally having when I first received my watch.
The screen is still had to read in anything but a well lit room or outdoors during the day. On the plus side it is very visible in direct sun light.
It this point I'm satisfied and don't regret getting the Metawatch.

UPDATE 2/18/2013
Well, I'm happy to report that I seem to improved my battery issue. I tried as someone recommended and did a reset after charging (holding the two middle buttons for a few seconds). Yesterday my after about 12 hours my battery was at 87% instead of the 34% I was getting before.

First the screen I'm not a big fan of. On the good side it is always on so you can tell the time with a glance (kind of). It is also easily readable in direct sun light. The problem is it's best viewable in a bright room. when I'm in room that not WELL lit it's hard to see the screen. You have to find the angle that allows the watch to catch the light. Yes, there is a LED light it the top, but it a bit of a pain and you I haven't found a way to change the time out. If you turn on the light and start doing something on the watch it will time out in 4 - 5 seconds then you have to keep hitting it to finish doing what you doing. The text is also small and often difficult to read and navigate. Ofter just a short time with the watch I really really wished it had a touch screen. Using the buttons to navigate with the tiny tiny icons that tell you their function get very tedious.
If you use the Metawatch Manager Community Edition (A third party modified version of the official Metawatch manager that adds much more functionality) you can not only get notifications for calls, gmail, and text.... you can also answer you phone with a push of a button (with the use of a BT headset), or answer you phone via speakerphone from you watch. going into you phones setting>accessibility and giving the Metawatch software permission it you can notification from just about any app that shows notifications on you notification bar, I haven't figured out how to get notifications for my regular (NON-Gmail) e-mails. Also I like having my time, weather phone battery status and missed call and missed text on one screen.
The really bad so far, In the day and a half I've owned this watch I've had 4 - 5 freezes. The watch becomes totally responsive. I have to connect and disconnect it from the charging clip over and over and over (8 - 28 times) to get it to reboot. I was out today having a bite when this happened. Not having the clip and power source available made the watch useless until I got home. I decided to re-flash the latest firmware again (witch I did on day one) and see if that helps. I may try FW 1.2 as that may be more stable and still work with Community Edition.
To keep this short I'm just going to give you some pros and cons for the rest:
Pro:
- Good functionality: Can get all kinds of notifications (with Community Edition) and even Answer (with headset), ignore, or answer via
speakerphone.
- Can scroll and read entire messages (text, gmail)
- Nice looking watch compared to many others. Classy enough to wear in any occasion.
- I have a screen where options to: quick dial my favorites, put my phone in or out of silent mode or ping my phone (to find lost phone). Also
has a option titled, "voice search", but so far it doesn't seem to do anything. Oh, and an option to view a list of notifications (text, calls, any
and all notifications that have appeared on you phone.
- Vibrates with alarm clock (but only stock alarm, and I'm used to using Alarm Clock Plus).
- Vibrates with notifications something that the Motoactv dose not do ( I have a Motoactv on the way).
- Screen is always on and doesn't time out.
- Can see a calendar and with a button press can view a list of events on my calender.
Cons:
- Freezes too often. I hope re-flashing the firmware (1.3) or flashing the previous (1.2) firmware will fix this.
- Screen can be difficult to read if not in a well lit place.
- LED light at the top just seems so 1980's. Wish screen would stay lit with button presses so I could navigate with out having to continually turn
on the light. Text is small and hard to read at times. I think I'd prefer a Motoactv or Sony Smartwatch screen even if they are not always on.
- There often a delayed response to the button presses. Sometimes I push it it again thinking it didn't register only to then have to register two
button presses.
- It suppose to have a built in running and cycling app of some kind, but so far it just, "coming soon".
- Buttons and no touch screen makes navigation really start to feel tedious a times.
Battery is hard so say as I got the watch yesterday, but so far it not meeting their claims. It cam off the charger yesterday at about 5:00 or 5:30 pm and by 10:30 this morning it it was showing zero and I attached the charger. It came off the charger at about at around 12:30 or 1:30. It is now 2:23 am and it showing 54%, so it will probably not last past tomorrow morning. I'll give it some time before I make a final determination on battery life.
The freezing issue aside (hoping firmware will resolve) aside the screen is my biggest complaint. I would like something more readable and have come to the conclusion that a touch screen should be a must for a smartwatch.
I haven't tried the Augmented Smartphone Pro app that is said to bring some additionality functionality to the Metawatch (as well as Sony Smartwatch, Motoactv and Pebble). But will be seeing what if offers next week. Also next week I should have a Sony Smartwatch and Motorola Motoactv in my hands next week.
Though I like the more understated and classy look of the Metawatch I'm looking forward to receiving the Sony Smartwatch and Motorola Motoactv. I think I will enjoy the screens more both for readability of text and the touchscreen.

What you said about the screen seems to be the overall theme I've read from other reviews as well. It's the trade off from having some kind of LCD/touch screen which are more power hungry, and seem to only last a few hours. Can't necessarily argue against your point, but it may not be biggest knock, considering the trade off.

Its funny I read a lot of people talking about the Sony Smartwatch and how its battery is horrible. I bought mine when I had an SGS2 and the battery life was horrible. lasted <1 day. Also seriously drained my phones battery. When I got my SGN2 I pulled it out of my gadget drawer and set it up again. It works perfectly. Watch battery lasts around 3 days, and it doesn't impact the battery life on my phone at all. If anything a few percent per day. I do wish for an "always on" display, but I've gotta say the smartwatch works pretty well with my note2.

I am still using my Wimm One, and before that, I had the Sony. I absolutely HATED the Sony. In fairness, it was their first-gen watch, but unless it has improved dramatically, I think you are going to be more disappointed in it than you were the Meta. The Sony can't even stand-alone and function as a watch without being paired to and in range of a phone.
I just wish the Moto had a vibration motor and I think it would be the undisputed choice.

So I have a STRATA coming soon. Got a really good deal on eBay (I am not sure how the price can be so low, so I am skeptical that something might be wrong with it). I also have a Pebble coming (Grey so who knows when I will get it) and I think I can use both. So thanks for your review I like the idea of having the widgets on the screen and think the small developer community is trying to really make a good device out of it. I looked at the Sony and the Moto briefly. Yeah, I understand the idea behind the screen and battery life, but honestly I rather have something that is more easily read and navigated even if it has to time out and I have to charge it every night. It very easliy read out door in in the brightest of sunlight, but indoors you have to move the angles to find one in witch you can make it out (in less it a very well lit room. Heck, I charged it over night until about 11 am today, it now 10:15pm and it at 22% according to the display. The Sony and Motorola can do better than that.
It did lock up on me twice today. I e-mailed support and asked for firmware 1.2 to see if it was better, but they told me that FW 1.2 never made it out of beta and they recommend 1.3. They gave me some instructions to unpair the device and reinstall the app. Their instruction where for iOS and I'm on running Android (Galaxy Note II), so I unpaired the watch uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. I even rebooted the watch and phone. So we'll see if tomorrow brings any more freezes.

Well, the Sony Smartwatch has gotten some good updates, and is a much improved device from when it was first released. It can even keep time even if it looses it's connection to the phone. It's actually a pretty capable device at this point, especially when paired with an app called Augmented smatwatch Pro. The thing makes it a bit ugly is the built in clip that makes almost twice as think as it would be otherwise.

The Moto is geared to fitness activities, but it can also receive notifications. In fact you can answer call either via a wired headphones with mic (included) or wireless headset (I have the Motorola S11 Flex HD I use when running). Again the Augmented Smartphone app adds functionality as far as receiving notifications in the motoactv as well. You can get weather on the Motoactv also (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motorola.notifier.plugin.accuweather&hl=en).
You can even root the Motoactv and run many Android apps (thought not all apps will work or have totally functionality). With it's built in WiFi, BT and GPS it's almost like a tiny tablet.
The only thing it lacks to make it what I would consider an awesome smartwatch is the lack of a vibrating motor for notifications. If it had vibrating alerts I'd consider making it my only smartwatch.

Got mine yesterday and so far would not recommend this watch to anybody. It has given me nothing but troubles. The community edition app kept freezing my watch so I'm using Noah's meta watch app and purchased augmented smart watch pro for extra functions.
The most irritating trouble I am facing apart from the freezes is with the phone call screen and messaging screen. When receiving calls or messages I cannot go back to the original or 1st screen. In addition none of my buttons under the action screen works.
I also purchased one for the misses to be used with the iphone. Does not crash or freeze but is useless with the limited functions available. Watch does not even vibrate during incoming calls even though I have enabled this feature. Her music control functions and toggling between screens works and seems smooth (mine does not work on android). Again the downside for her is with the limited functions and connectivity issues. It keeps disconnecting and connecting.
Now I am stuck with 2 useless watches. I wear mine only because I purchased it. I'm thinking of just placing it back in the box because I am about to lose my mind.

Picked up my Samsung Gear 2 Neo today

Works great with my Note 3 using BajaRom. I work for Samsung. Best Buy has had a delay in their deliveries but they are fairly easy to get in many ATT stores. I really like it. Really good deal at $199. Of the 3 watches i feel that this gives the most features at the best price point. I'm not posting screenshots as they are everywhere by now. A few quick things to note. I haven't tried the sleep tracker or pedometer yet but the heart rate monitor has been spot on for me. I loaded about 50 songs on it. Bluetooth music streaming sounds awesome on this. Not sure why but i expected less but was super happy with the sound quality and volume. Speaker during calls is louder than i anticipated. Not tested battery life much yet. Very light and comfortable. There are quite a few settings that can be changed via gear manager. I'm sure some work better than others but essentially notifications can be set for all installed applications on your phone. Watch On remote is limited obviously but works great on my Mitsubishi TV with Dish Network. I also noticed that you can allow unknown apps so side loading apps will not be an issue. I will update how the sleep tracking and pedometer goes after tonight and tomorrow. Overall in a non biased way i really am impressed with the job they did and the future of smart watches in general.

Please keep us updated on the pedometer aspect. I'm looking for a replacement for my fitbit force. And I like seeing what I walk everyday.

The idea for it is that you leave your phone in the locker, and use BT headphones so you not carrying your phone around the gym/work out.
Shame its still not 100% waterproof and still unable to swap out bands. If only those two last items were met, I would of bought one.
Instead I will stick with my pebble.

I purchased the neo and then returned it for the gear 2. There is a rubber coating on the outside of the neo and even with the slightest scratch it will scrape off and the scratches are way more obvious. The button on my neo was the first thing to show a scratch within the first couple of days so I spent a little more and I don't regret it at all. The neo is perfect for a females hand also due to its weight, so if you like a heavier watch but not as heavy as the original then stick with the Gear 2. Love it except for all the initial bugs with the software.

The mp3 player on the watch is sick. I never listen to mp3s anymore but the option of not having to have your phone at times is excellent. Just to clarify YES you can swap out different bands. also its not waterproof but its water resistant. No bathing or swimming with it but who does that?

I dropped my Neo into a bowl of water over 10mins it still works and also I've showered with it on. But I didn't try to scrub it or put soap on it. One down fall is that the water on the screen will make the device to have a mind of its own kept acting like I was pressing random buttons.
Also does anyone know how to install non Samsung apps into the device and how to get Flesky sms to my Neo? I've seen for the original gear but not the gear 2.

It has about 2.3gb of storage available. I have added 128 songs so far. Another guy at work has 361 so far so you can load way more than 50 with lots of room to spare lol. I used the sleep tracker last night and it works great. i will try the pedometer out tomorrow weather permitting. we have a track by my house exactly a mile long so we will see how accurate it is.

at this point because it runs Tizen there isn't much available yet but you will be able to side load stuff when it comes out as there is an option to allow unknown sources.

2.3GB is not a lot when you have songs in a high quality. even more so when you start installing apps and other stuff on it.

Yeah. These smart watches seem like a cool idea, but at $200 for 4GB or less of memory and only about 100 apps available, they seem like only a must-have for the extreme geek.

Seems like more than enough to serve the purpose. Its a watch with some nice features. You can transfer songs on the fly with your phone. Im not sure why anyone would need more as its used to stream some songs during a workout and its kinda small to have a 1tb hard drive built in. I cant imagine needing much storage for apps as they will be smaller and basic apps to accomadate a watch

Got my Neo yesterday, I can trully say that it is much better than I expect, looks and feel really good. The main purpose to buy it was the heart rate sensor, I am fade up with my polar RS800CX, it consumes too much baterries and the chest trap is a pain in the ... to wear.
So, this morning I went for a 150 minutes walk with my wife, she was wearing a fitbit one. In the end both devices had the same distance (+- 300 meters) and a diference of 400 steps, We were walking side by side with a sincronized step, The good thing was that I had my heart rate checked all the way, the bad is that some of the readings were sometimes wrong, some picks at 155bpm (too high) and an average of 122 bpm, which is a bit too much. But i´ll try some more on that to be certain.
the other bad thing for me is that I am not abble to sync with s-health, only Fitness with gear app, available on Samsung store, but everything is new I hope that in the near future things will improve.

Got it synced with my Note 2, no problems.

Long shot but it would be great if the Slacker folks did a Gear 2 app and let you download music to it.

The pedometer on mine appears excellent, after wearing it at the same time as my fitbit force today. At the end of today it tells me 13355 steps, compared to 13669 on my fitbit and 12823 on my Note 3. Overall very happy with this.

I, too, got my Neo yesterday -and did pretty much what you did! The pace count seems ok. . .Actually I kind of thought my phone (S4 running GoldenEye or Shostock roms 4.4.2) might be more accurate! The heartrate monitor works great -except if you are in motion. While at rest on the Gym machines this morning I compared readouts from the workout machine monitors and the phone -pretty much exactly the same. However, while trying to measure while doing the elliptical or biking machine --the machine was able to deliver a pulse, but the neo either failed or gave a very low reading (my pulse was not 59 while biking the hill climb routine!)
I spent about an hour on the S Health sync thing yesterday -very annoying. The "old" S Health (2.5 I think) did not sync, the Fitness gear app DID sync. I got the Galaxy S5 S Health (ver 3.0) and loaded it on the phone and it DID/Yes sync. However, I can't find a way to get my old S Health data on the new S Health app. The ver 2.5 would present a back up restore menu when in the account window. The new 3.0 versions don't seem to have a restore option anywhere --at least I could not find it. I kind of hate to lose my old data --it's not that important, but it helps for reference and comparison.
EDIT: SLEEP.APK OK I had to manually update the Neo's rom via Kies3 (after DL/Installing Kies3, plugged in the Neo and Kies discovered a software update. I went from Neo Rom NCD to ND8.) After the update, I had the Sleep app in apps!

I am having the same problem with shealth, version 2.5 is not compatible, version 3.1 works great until i reset my phone, then I loose all data, it happened 3 times. So far the only one working is Fitness with Gear, but it is very poor, no weight management, no food, no maps of the exercice, it is really poor. So, I am expecting a new version of shealth for note 3.
About the heart rate, I noticed that during the exercice the precision is not always good, but at the end the average is ok. Let see further with some more experience. meanwhile I will hold the polar retirement.
Come on Samsung, We are expecting an update, our phones are not so old.

Just got Urbane, initial impressions

Snagged one online through Verizon and did overnight delivery. So I'm going to give 2 impressions here
1) Appearance
2) Usabality
For for the 1st impression on appearance the watch is exactly what I wanted, I love the silver, I love the roundness, I LOVE LOVE LOVE a true "always on" screen mode, and I like the leather band. I may actually keep the band for awhile before swapping it out with a silver one somewhere. The watch faces are pretty, the resolution is nice, and the overall appearance of elements is colorful and nice.
EDIT: Ok apparently there was even MORE updates after the initial update payload. I did check that I was running 5.1.1 but after about an hour another "system update swipe left to install" appeared. After that update completed I noticed what appeared to be a bunch more apps sync'ing, such as Maps, Keep, notification toggle, etc. FINALLY once all of these completed the watch appears to have returned to normal and is currently running GREAT. Smooth high fps screen transitions, responsive touch control, responsive voice recognition, etc. Make sure you let this watch sit for a good few hours before attempting to do much with it. Google does A LOT to it in the background at first boot.
For the 1st impression of usability the watch is complete garbage. Lots of "android wear stopped responding", lots of "little cloud indicator showing you have disconnected", and LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of LAAAAGGG!! Omg this watch feels borderline beta, completely unstable. Maybe it's because it has only been running for 15 minutes, and maybe it's because it took half an hour to update (I'm guessing Verizon did not ship it with 5.1.1). The thing took forever on first boot, but now that it's running it's just out of control. Totally unresponsive. You'd seriously think something is wrong with it. You tap the screen nothing happens, you tap it again you feel it buzz but nothing happens, you stop tapping and stare at it for 10 seconds and then suddenly 10 things happen. It's as if the watch is just completely clogged up with background CPU tasks that it's playing catchup. Pretty lousy. I'm hoping this will pass after a day of usage or so.
My only gripe right now is that this is really poor form and only furthers the bragging rights Apple users get. My buddy got an Apple Watch and that thing worked beautiful out of the box. Apple knows customers dont want a ****ty first impression and made sure their devices perform amiably the moment it is powered on. Google apparently doesnt give a **** and anyone is allowed to do whatever they want with their brand, such as crippling Android Wear with a clearly untested product launch.
Oh well, only time will tell.

I have been using mine for about an hour and have not seen ANY lag. I have also not disconnected from the phone once. my R did it a few times a day. The first boot and connection did take forever, but mine has been working lag free and perfectly the whole time. I know it is early, but maybe you just got a lemon

Pretty much the same experience here. The initial boot and sync process (then subsequent update) take forever, but after that, this thing is butter.
So far, I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of the leather strap. Maybe it just needs time to be broken in, but I'm already eyeing replacements.
Did I mention this thing is GORGEOUS??

As far as I can tell, the best way to think of the WiFi functionality is "extended bluetooth". It doesn't seem to have any independent WiFI or network functionality. It still has to be talking to the phone, which does have to have some type of connectivity, but the phone doesn't have to be on the same network or on WiFI at all. I turned off both WiFi and BT on the phone, and it could still talk to the watch (through the cell data connection). That added flexibility probably only has a few practical uses, but I absolutely love being able to have the watch and walk more than 20 ft. away while still being connected.

Ok I have had it for day and my initial impression of the Urbane is positive completely opposite of the OP, granted the initial set-up can take up-to 20-30 minute, I've also had the system updated to 5.1.1 .
It is fairly responsive far better than moto 360, not much lags and also the battery life is much better you could easily go through 12 hours of heavy usage or 15 hours for moderate usage. It may have the same innards as the G Watch R but I think LG have done a good job making it look more watch like and something that at first glance looks like a normal watch.
My negatives would be that as I have small wrist it is slightly too big and the strap could have been of better quality. I will go far as to say this is currently the best android smartwatch until moto 360 mk II, Huawei watch etc....
Bottom for line for the money I think it is worth it, cant complain.

How is the vibration on the notifications?
I tried a Moto 360 and I could barely tell when it vibrated.

Any chance of a system and boot dump guys?

Vibrations good. I will side with Apple as far as being able to customize vibration intensity.

After mine was completely done with its startup I rebooted it and performance has been fine.
Hated the stock strap but I knew I would going in as I greatly dislike cheap leather straps and I had a nice SS bracelet here ready to be installed when the watch arrived. Tested the stock strap for about 15 seconds and went to the jeweler and had them put on the bracelet instead, better in every way. Honestly 22mm is a very common size and there are straps for every owner of all kinds, don't stick with the stock strap for one minute if you don't like it. You can do much better.
Someone paying attention will realize this is not a normal watch but for the most part I think you will have few people notice the watch, it manages to blend pretty well.
If you don't notice the vibration on this one then it isn't a problem, your corpse will not respond to the notification anyways.

This is a smartwatch for phones running android platform.
It is not a phone. It connects to your phone through bluetooth.
This smartwatch's brand is LG.
You can purchase it from South Korea, USA, UK and some other places as well as from internet, for example from Ebay.

I don't have my watch yet, but are you saying the vibration is much stronger than the Moto 360? If so, just that is enough to convince me to buy it! P.S. I have always preferred metal bands too.

I have not tried the 360 so I cant comment on its comparative vibration strength. I can say the vibrate on this one is more than strong enough to get my attention when I'm busy. Alarm vibes will continue until you cancel them at least in the near term, I haven't tried leaving it go and seeing if it stops vibrating after so many minutes. The only time I can see myself actually missing an alarm is if I was quite active but theimplication there is I would probably prefer to attend to the activity I was involved in rather than a notification on my watch.
I'm sorry I cant help more, if this is a very strong point you might consider waiting for the phone to be available for fondling in a retail outlet before purchasing.

I'm coming from a Galaxy Gear S and I have 2 small issues. 1st battery life I'm already down to 27% after 7 hrs of use (gear s after 14hr day would still have 70% left) hopefully this will improve after a few days of use. 2nd I wish the display was larger like the 360. Everything looks a little squished to me.

Yep... I'm on day 3 or 4 after a full reset post-update, and I'm only getting about 8-10 hours myself. That's with brightness set at 2 and "Always On" screen turned off. Not sure what the culprit is, but I'm going to try one more full reset and resync.

This will be my first Samsung in a while

here's the minireview (after i bought it so late, knowing there's no Note21 coming, and written some summary about rooting):
Looks: who cares, it's hidden in the case, every phone nowadays looks the same. Thou naked, Note10 is the hottest phone, and this one looks similar to it. How does it help? You can enjoy it on the internet, like a window shopper. Your ugly case will decide its fate! For truly unique look,. get a foldable.
Body: heavy as hell, what can I say. Ultraultrathin case on the way to compensate. You have three choices: X-Level case, pitaka case, or give up. I miss the Bixby button to program it in Xposed Edge and there's no Lockdown option anywhere. On 1+ I could use unique wakelock geatures or unique fingerprint menu to trigger some stuff. Here there's no immediate shortcuts unfortunately.
Battery: hesitated for a month reading horror stories about battery. With A11, root, usual wakelocks (AOD, dt2wake, raise2wake), bluetooth & location tracking & VPN running nonstop and 1:1 data and 200 apps as on all past phones, and even without 1+ aggressive RAM cleanup, i must claim the battery is fantastic on Exynos. 3 days easy with my relaxed usage, which is just like OnePlus 6-7-8 I used to have.
Charging: pretty fast for a single battery. You saw the results on gsmarena. Not bad for an emergency topup. Highly compatible with many chargers (unlike 1+). Of course it can't match 8T or 1+9 speed, but very close to 8Pro. But you have tons of chargers around the world at your disposal. Shame on 1+ for this "Apple" type of strategy. In my huge collection of cables and USB testers I have just one of each which supports "Warp". I charged each 1+ at 8W thanks to this as I refuse proprietary methods. Still I did have their Qi charger to celebrate the addition of Qi, and interestingly Note20 won't charge from it.
Fingerprint: better than S10, potentially faster than Oneplus, however it's killed by a massive sluggish response to unlocking. Simply put, finger is recognized very fast but then there's a huge delay til screen is unlocked or app accepts it!
Camera: took an hour to carefully analyze few pics made in the same place, under 2x zoom I couldn't fault it and only found issues on 1+ side. The 1+ 8Pro, which is my reference flagship of 2020, featured issues: yellow tint, massive hair artifacts which look like compression, massive transition artifacts (like a botched Bokeh on a picture which is not even portrait mode!), less detail in each pic, lot of extra noise, highlight clipping. On the other side, this Note didn't have any issue. I'm bit shocked, i expected more balanced battle. Not like 10:0 for Samsung. It's just one mode tested: AUTO on main camera. Nothing else matters because thats how pics are made by people (that's what Xperia owners don't get: "but but you need to use the Pro mode" ). I don't make pics, but i can see the phone will be inheritable within family very easily as they love cameras.
Software: bloated into oblivion, had a lot of work with the guide so expect some serious time burnt on debloating this monster as 1+ owners laugh into your face. Rooting and updating will be only with cable and via Odin, as you can't even enter recovery and DL mode without PC anymore. So the sd card will not save your arse when abroad. However unlocking bootloader is without "agreement", so the warranty is still valid in EU. As bragged earlier, lot of functionality forces you to login and the account demands even your phone number aaaaand I couldn't even fake email and phone! They're so dedicated to capture your real identity so it's best to stay logged out. Even the frikking wallpapers which are ugly this season cannot be changed. But on the other side, the OneUI OS gives you way more than bland 1+ or Xperias, there's always some extra for you. Like the hints in Settings, one hand use, the SmartStay, the cool magnifier, the Spen actions, voice control of camera, camera minivideos, the kid mode, the notif reminder, e-z split screen, the conversation bubbles, richer AOD, rotating wallpaper, Bixby routines, Edge panel etc. Notifbar is full of shortcuts which usually indicates how rich OS is. There are even apps, like video or song browser, something that no longer exists in many OS. Notably the firewall is missing. So overall, after debloating it's stronger perhaps more productive than those vanilla OSes. I love the split screen can be done with dragging from Edge panel.
Speed: massive improvement vs s10 generation i'd say. For the first time, i see Samsung device can be snappy. But don't expect 1+ speed, it's not THAT fast. It's still just Exynos. I even noticed lagging animations here and there, but it's not nonstop like on gen10.
Display: 8Pro and Note20 were rated as the best displays by several ranking agencies and im not paranoid enough to claim their rankings are bogus. Just like i don't hate Dxomark or even positives boasting DisplayMate. Having quite many flagships in past I can see Samsung is always more readable than any other brand. I appreciate the brightness during the day and night. It doesn't force you to increase brightness manually every single night. Now the dark environment use: the backbleeding isn't obtrusive like on Tab S* or OLED TVs, it doesn't have status bar burnt like 8Pro, and it's pretty uniform. With gray color and low brightness I could see the screen blink once which was scary but couldn't replicate it anymore. Well in any case, we do NEED new display technology to replace this pulsating OLED nonsense. No problem with swiping like on Xperia5ii or ZFlip, not many mistouches, the curve is gentle. The resolution is limited at 120Hz but I will say it again: i cannot see more pixels or any detail better under physical magnifier. FullHD is better than Xperia1ii [email protected] any time that's why I couldn't buy that Sony. I do lower resolution on every phone, incl 8Pro which can run 2K @120Hz.
Network: another improvement since S10 is improved network, just like notebookcheck reports, it's in back to top league with 8Pro. WAN speed averages for me: 482/290 on Note20U, 440/234 on 1+8Pro, 481/147 on S10. Pure WiFi AC speed averages were 600/709, 648/706, 610/696 respectively. Making S10 quite good for LAN despite initial horrible S10,S10+,Note10,Note10+ results on notebookcheck, well i'm testing them in same exact position at the same time, so my results are more real at this point.
SD card: nothing exciting here happened over a decide except when they remove this feature. No advancements were made to utilize UHS2 or UHS1+ speed of Extreme cards. Benchmark is 61MBs, so it's not capped like Xperia to 30MBs. Again, can't use sd card to recover your ROM, but rather to store encrypted backups (from OAndbackup currently as 3C can't encrypt and TitaniumBackup is dead).
Overall gen.10 Samsung owners (S10,S10+,Note10,Note10+) have every reason to update their midrangers. Others will buy S21 as it's finally got a decent Exynos. I personally won't buy 227 frikking gram brick without sd card. For 1+ owners it's a preference of freedom to root, (insert "irrational" in EU) fear of losing warranty, "i'm tired with Samsung", properietary charging (1+), sd card, too much bloat, lot of extras vs vanilla etc. Both are strong flagships, didn't expect such good battery and camera result here. After disappointing Z Flip and Xperia5ii, and a decent pause in Samsung ownership (I didn't keep Note9 and S10 for myself so my last longterm device was S8) i'm keeping this as a main driver. I can clean it up very well, there's no snitching, there's zero Samsung connections active and battery clearly proves it. So for rooted users this device is a gem. Nema problema.

And how the hell are you getting 3 days of use?! When i use my phone super light for two days i barley make it to thr second night and even somethimes i need to give it few mins of juice in thr car or somwhere just so i can make it. And that id with very light use.
What bloat are you reffering too, do tou have a contract pgone or sim free? I have sim free and the only bloat i have is the odd sammy software that i occasionally rven use.
Ps. OneUI is not an OS but skin.
Re speed i am an owner od s10, note21 and s21 and i see verry little differrnce between thr s10 and note21, although i do not play games but i use photoshop, lightroom, drawing software and some other similar there is not much difference to say it is massive. There is, it is normal but not massive for sure and all 3 phones feel snappy as hell. Started using sammy with the s7 again and from that point on one from each generation and all felth at their time spanny and very goos.
The only bad thing i have expirianced with my s10 is wifi connectivity, it was poor compared even to my older phones, and with the note 20 ultra 4G is very VERY poor. Or the regular pgone signal. I constantly loose wifi or 4G in places where my other friends do not on all 3 of my phones since the s10 including my note 20 ultra.
As a previous one plus owner i can tell you that the only difference in quality for comparing Oneplus and samsung is thr camera. Nothing else. Onepkus makes solid phones, and they are getting expensive to a point where you comoare them with the top hitters of samsung but the camera is light years behind, there are not even in the same ballpark to compare there.

yeah im also lightly using the phone.. but it's nonstop connected to PC and watches, VPN, location tracking, all typical wakelocks on. After time, I'd say it's the same as you describe, 3rd day so so. But it's way better than as people described on the forums "horrible Exynos battery". It scared me away from buying for a good month.

Had S7 to S10, but it wasn't snappy at all. This is first time it feels that way, thou vanilla OSes like Oxygen are snappier and stutterless. Sure enough i will like newer CPU on newer models, but I just did a sanity check - it is quite snappy.

Hmm, that was one problem fixed with Note20. No more moaning from my family about Wifi once upgraded S10->Note20. Connectivity good overall.

Well, that's only one difference. The main difference for me is the software. This is where OnePlus saves money, by not inveting a penny to enrich the experience and add some productivity gains. This is where OneUI OS shines.

You made a good choice.
The only other one I would consider is the N10+.
I use the SD card as a data drive. You need a V30 rated card for top transfer speeds.

i have an SD card, in one of Note20 and Ultra, and it's slow just like in every other mobile (apparently there's no device/appliance with higher speed than 90MBs UHS1 cap other than PC/DSLR - e.g. Sandisk Extreme a.k.a. UHS1+ or UHS2). I mean V30 is very slow to me, both sequential and random access. Given the terrible latency a.k.a. 4K speed, i wouldn't use the SD card for anything but backups and static dead files like music/videos. SD cards are a complete joke versus UFS. Also 60Hz screen, not for me, but OK for the person who received Note20 after S10 and never experienced the 120Hz heaven))

For the N10+ the V30 is around it's top transfer speeds, the N20 is probably good for more.
The N10+ comes with Pie so no scope storage or the other Q nasties.
Lol, 60hz is 30hz faster than I was raised on being a 60's TV child... I'm not greedy

Where are you from, and is your phonr sim free or not?because my pgone is sim free and i have close to zero bloat (except the odd sammy rmail, web browser etc. That i do not consider bloat). For me personally everything google is bloat that you cant remove (i do not like google as you can see )
Unless you are not sim free the phone it self was pretty clean when i purchased it no adds, no usless software (except 1-2 samsung things that i do not use and cant remove) but that is their pgone... It is to be expected to see their software on it.
Re the battery... To be fair i stopped listening to reviewers and people on the net lomg time ago, turns out many are biased towards this or that and tou cant really get the true story. I am extreamly happy with my battery and my camera, two points that are heavily criticized on the forums anywhere and by reviewers.
I still own s7, s8 and s10... And even now if they are not packed with software they hry are not that bad, but during their prime time they were as snappy as ever dor me. Might be a sim free vs not i do not know. All my phomes are sim free.

From EU, we don't have any locks by law. Still even such Samsungs are full of processes that waste memory, batter, keep connection, and kill privacy. It's not just what you see as icons. It's Bixby, Samsung Cloud, Find, Galaxy Friends, Pay, push service, logging, debugging, location tracking, knoxx, wifi snitching, Phone assistance, and finally sponsored vendor crap with boosted battery priorities. Can't believe you didn't notice until now There must be tons of threads about this.

Half of those i use, if not more. So do my friends. As i said define bloat. To me bloat is google everything and thr inability to get rid if it easily. To me bloat is not something you buy and you get the brand services, but other services you do not want likr carier services or others like microsoft/google etc.

Indeed, that's why a Samsung 4500mAh battery will never be as comparable as lets say a OnePlus' 4500mAh.
First thing one must do, ADB uninstall the hell out of all the Samsung garbage apps and such. For every Google spyware on ONE UI there is also an equivalent Samsung process running.

I was considering getting this phone but Samsung screwed up with the CPU heatsink big time on some of the same variant and it's random, unpredictable. Only observation of abnormal poor heat dissipation or a tear down can reveal which heat sink is used.

Hopefully this thread can be an open arena for learning, troubleshooting, experiences etc. I am in Canada on Bell and 5g works fine but it has not VoLTE in Canada which is huge. I am using Nova Launcher and round icons with no real issues. However, notifications has been a pain in my ass. I get them in the notification tray but no indication of the icons themselves. I love the phone and have no problem with the slow annoying setup. It fits great in the hand and "feels" lighter then my fold3 because of the proper size specs imo. The front screen is so good size wise, I never open the device, which helps with the battery life obviously. I have been forcing myself to game with it open, to see how it operates and uses battery etc.
The phone looks and feels beautiful, great cameras, decent battery life and amazingly fast charging with the INCLUDED 80 watt wired charging, 50w wireless! The back of the phone is nice and does not need a case imo it also feels more stable and less delicate to the Samsung offerings. I am about to try and get my Samsung galaxy watch4 classic to work.... I will update as we go. Since I have notification issues and was missing texts, I went back to the main messaging app but for everything else, I replaced the stock apps.
I do miss the 10x of my samsung s22 ultra but overall the camera is nice for a fold. I love the volume slider. The setup time is far more advanced then our usual devices, so it is not for the faint of heart.
I am going to try and do my watch and try to get notifications to work properly, right now.
If you need any information from me or my phone in Canada, please ask away. Any tips and tricks appreciated but I have followed the few youtube videos.

I have been forcing myself to game with it open, to see how it operates and uses battery etc.
The phone looks and feels beautiful, great cameras, decent battery life and amazingly fast charging with the INCLUDED 80 watt wired charging, 50w wireless! The back of the phone is nice and does not need a case imo it also feels more stable and less delicate to the Samsung offerings. I am about to try and get my Samsung galaxy watch4 classic to work.... I will update as we go. Since I have notification issues and was missing texts, I went back to the main messaging app but for everything else, I replaced the stock apps.
I do miss the 10x of my samsung s22 ultra but overall the camera is nice for a fold. I love the volume slider. The setup time is far more advanced then our usual devices, so it is not for the faint of heart.
I am going to try and do my watch and try to get notifications to work properly, right now.
If you need any information from me or my phone in Canada, please ask away. Any tips and tricks appreciated but I have followed the few youtube videos.
**first issue, setting up the watch is not straight forward or easy... says my device is not compatible. I tried the Chinese wearos and the normal wearos and galaxy wearable plug in.

Were you able to get the Vivo X Fold to pair with your galaxy watch? I intend to order the Vivo X Fold S when it drops but not being able to pair with a galaxy watch 4 is a deal breaker.

I got the Watch 3 to pair, but the new Watch 5 definitely will not. Can't say for the 4.
