L.E. Forgot to give credit where due: This port was made possible when @alibei made his initial Lineage 17.1 work available, this being a prerequisite to start porting Sailfish OS at that time (now Lineage 18.1 would work as a porting base too). Thanks!
@b100dian Please check your PM inbox. Thank you.

How long does the battery last? Is it better than Android? Does the apk emulation work? Do you have to buy an extra license?
Hi @lizzmo ,
The usual battery life I get is around 48 hours. I don't remember how battery life was under android, but you probably know. I am trying a service that shuts down cores whenthe screen is off but so far I get adsp kernel oopsies fron time to time if I turn off the big cores..
This is the free SFOS, no licence needed but no Exchange and Alien Dalvik either.
You can however install Waydroid. But location support and camera are spotty. I use it for banking apps only.
Thanks for your fast reply. I find your project very exciting. Is there any chance that it gets somehow "official" and will support native starting of APKs over license?
Unfortunately I don't see any development in this area. Licenses for ports are being discussed (e.g https://forum.sailfishos.org/t/licenses-without-support-for-unofficially-ported-devices-xz2c/7076) but I think I saw a community meeting mentioning that it is not feasable (sorry, cannot find the exact discussion).
Alien Dalvik must use some of the same LXC container technology that waydroid uses, so it should be feasable to have it installed, I don't have a 64-bit license to try it out and cannot help here.
<rant>
Think of it like this: going to another OS that is not Android means that you need some lifestyle changes. Although I could have managed to check an entirely android-only messaging app by starting Waydroid, I chose to stop using it. Messaging apps that have clients for SailfishOS are Telegram and Signal.
In general, using a non-android OS is a deeper de-google: you will find which services have APIs that people can build apps for in any other OS, and which you should not touch. I wish I could say that the same goes for banks, but they live in their own bubble.. well, at least I do have one banking account accesible through browser + SMS 2FA and that's cool.
</rant>
@b100dian Hi, I tried 3 times but still bootloop... Android 10 vendor part - lineage 17.1 build - and the sailfish 4.4.0.72 image you provided... I wonder what am I doing wrong? I use orangefox instead of twrp. Could you please write the detailed installation order?
Hi @lokenk, thanks for trying this.
Let's see what could go wrong.
You can try the exact version of Android 10 *vendor* I'm using, if you haven't already, see the [Readme](https://github.com/sailfishos-on-tucana/Readme)
You could have booted a encrypted fs OS that mangled /data content - maybe try erasing data and re-flash the sailfishos zip
You could try from `adb shell` in orangefox to see what are the contents of the file `/sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops` after the first boot failure (keep the vol-up pressed while you know it is going through reboot so that the first failed boot is followed by the orangefox boot which should have that file. Paste that file on a paste service and let's look together.
4.5.0.19 release Release 4.5.0.19 Release · sailfishos-on-tucana/Readme · GitHub 3
Sorry forgot to update here on XDA too - you can also get news about this on SFOS forums.
Changes:
Updated hybris to be able to run Qt 5.15 apps.
Removed gmp-droid (using gecko-camera in the browser with GECKO_CAMERA_DROID_NO_MEDIA_BUFFER=1)
To update if you're not installing this version directly:
in Terminal or over ssh:
Code:
$ devel-su
# ssu re 4.5.0.19
# version --dup
and reboot.

Not really.
First of all, you can't really experience Treble. There's nothing different for the user, it's just for developers to easier port newer Android versions.
Secondly, it's somewhat pointless if it isn't properly implemented by the manufacturer. There's no benefit to port new version "easily" if you hame much more trouble to get Treble in the first place; might as well use those resources to port the ROM "the old way".
And lastly, as long as hardware manufacturers provide new drivers it's better to have it the old way.
Basically, porting Treble to old devices is more or less an experiment and a fun project for devs, not really expected to work flawlessly or take off.

Well if this is mature, it can benefit both parties though IMO
For users, we can finally have an OS for all hardware just like in PC/Laptop enviroment
For devs, more user will use their product (build), mean increase in donation.
Later it would bring forth companies that build a paid/premium ROM. More devs would get a regular payment rather than relying in donations.
The rom can just including the generic driver to make the phone function for later use to install the driver from manufacture.
Manufacture would be forced to release a constant working driver or else get blamed by all parties.
All that later, we can say goodbye to bootloader lock since phone manufacture would just selling a phone, not the OS inside it.
The main issue here is that this thread is not a development thread, just basically a link towards the thread itself. Not sure this is the right place for that

Finally a stable ROM for our poor P smart. Many thanks to @haky 86 for his awesome work on Hi6250 platform. He can just simply buy a Xiaomi and start building seriously, but he decided to stay with a crappy Huawei device just to keep the development alive!
Links:
ROM: CypherOS
Gapps: Open GApps
TWRP: I reccomend this
Stock Recovery: recovery_stock_Psmart.img
Instructions:
First of all you will need to remove the assert line from the zip package in order to bypass ERROR 7. If you don't know how to do it follow these steps.
➊ Flash TWRP
➋ Haky says you don't have to wipe system as it won't boot. I wiped Cache, Dalvik, Data an System and nothing happened, so if you messed up your previous ROM installed you should do aswell.
➌ Flash ROM + GApps
➍ Go to Install > Image and flash the stock recovery in Recovery Ramdisk partiton
➎ Reboot to stock recovery and do a full Factory Reset
➏ Reboot and enjoy!
Bugs found
⇢Battery is worse than stock EMUI (but hey, at least you got rid of that s**t EMUI )
⇢Lockscreen shortcuts are not displayed (I think it will be fixed in next build)
⇢Default Luna Launcher is buggy so you should change it
⇢Customizations missing (will be also fixed in the next build)
⇢SD card not working on some apps
Im wondering is there any chance to get best battery performance rom. Any one know it?
Time for one of them "stupid n00b questions"!
I haven't had CyanogenMOD (or LOS) on my phone since 2013 or so, so anything might have changed and it's better to ask than to frog things up all bricky-bricky.
I got a Huawei P Smart as a present. Haven't booted it up at all yet, and am planning to first start it at the point when I'm ready to install this ROM. So, that is, after I've gotten a response to this message
So... For the questions:
* I'm mainly looking for a phone without GApps, so I would follow the instructions otherwise, but skip the part where I install GApps. Will this lead to any trouble besides not having services such as Google Play?
* Is my Huawei P Smart / FIG-LX1 indeed for sure the same device as the Hi6250 mentioned here?
(For the curious ones out there, my current phone is a HMD "Nokia" 105 I thought it would be very bad, but it was far worse than that)

First of all... If you're planning to unlock your P smart and install a rom it will be a very long and tough way, so I don't recommend doing it if you said u haven't tried roms since 2013.
If you don't want to install Gapps it's ok, because many roms are based on pure AOSP, but you will miss some features.
And yes, P smart it's a part of hi6250 familly (it is mainly based on chipset and other stuff)

postmarketOS is Linux operating system. This system is able to turn your phone or tablet into desktop like device with touchscreen controls. You can use GNOME application from your desktop if they're adapted to smaller screen or in some cases it just work without adaptation. You can also use any terminal and GUI application from GNU/Linux if it fits your screen
Prerequisites:
- Linux system with ADB and USB cable
- latest (official) TWRP installed
- grouper (both HW rev. PM269 & E1565) or tilapia
Source to build from:
Instalation procedure:
Note: from environment I recommend Phosh, but due to unfinished 3D acceleration, use rather Xfce4 or something X11 based (older, but works with basic acceleration).
What works:
- flashing
- USB (including OTG)
- WiFi
- Bluetooth
- LCD + Touchscreen (with rotation)
- light sensor
- NFC (should work, driver loads, initialize, no NFC device to test)
What doesn't work (yet):
- camera
- 3D support (only GL 1.4 supported -which is useless, contributors welcome), so UI is slow..
Dev docs:
Kernel sources:
- used kernel https://github.com/grate-driver/linux/

Hi man,Good to see this thread on here, I succefully installed and booted pmOS on mainline kernel + Phosh (just followed the guide on the wiki), but i'm struggling to get wifi work! device is not being loaded, i tried to copy driver on /systsem/vendor/firmware/fw_bcm4330_bg.bin and /system/etc/nvram.txt and rebooted as a little googling seems to suggest but still not working. have you managed to make it work?

pmOS looks really cool! I'd like to install it on my grouper, and was wondering if anyone could provide me with a pmos recovery zip. The reason for this is that I unfortunately don't have a Linux machine. I can of course download an image for free and install it, but I don't have the time (too much work ?). I was reading the wiki and it looks like pmbootstrap performs poorly on WSL, so that isn't an option. I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone could provide me with a recovery installer zip for grouper (@okias do you have it by any chance?). Thanks in advance!

Found some major bug even if i followed the procedure.
1 - SMS tooks 1 sec to send, which is good, but tooks like 20 mins to reciver, or eithr a reboot.
2 - Android 11 auto detect every apn, but the one for my operator is wrong, since MNVO need to stay on IMSI and the value at 22220x, but the system forced another one, which is resetted every reboot.
3 - Even if i updated both Google Play Services and Android Web View, i was unable to download more than one app in 180 minutes.
4 - When downloading, the phone become unusable due to the heat in the upper left part (back).
Alternative installation that I have done working and without overheating
-Once the rar has been downloaded and the files extracted
TWRP installation: OrangeFox recommended
-Wipes Dalvik/ART Cache/System/Cache/Data/Storage(optional)/Format Data
-Reboot again in TWRP
-Flash Firmware Lineage 17.1 lineage-17.1-20200908
-Flash System.img as system image
-Restart system
-Once the system has started, install the apks included in the rar and restart the system
-Finish the pixel configuration (do not open the play store until you have done it) with your email and voila, you can open the play store and configure to your liking
About a third of the applications I use don't work
I gave up it's a shame, too many worries.
