Hi, i'm a new owner of pixel 7 (coming from sony xz1 compact), and there's something strange with it, when I hold the power button I don't have access to the power menu but I get the google assistant. Is it possible to correct this?
Thanks

It's different on pixel. To access power menu it's power+volume up.
Thanks for your answer and sorry for my ignorance.

Nah you good. It confused me too. Once you get used to it, i personally feel like it's better. It's faster and easier to access.
Screenshots are taken by doing power+volume down if you didn't know as well.
Settings / System / Gestures / Press and hold power button -> Hold for assistant -> OFF
it will turn off your assistant and you will see the classic power menu.
Thanks for these information, I'll be clever when I go to bed

Hello,
I would like to ask, is there any possibility to change the key functions in Motorola Milestone?
I would like to change the camera button into a power button. I don't like the idea of pushing power button to turn on the display when the phone is locked. I would like to do it with camera button. It would be much easier. I know apps like Screen Mode Widget but they only allow to instantly unlock the phone with camera button and I would like only to turn the display on and than to unlock the phone by myself with sliders on the screen.
Can anyone help me?

I have a Kindle Fire 2...Rooted and I have flashed this: [ROM/KERNEL] UNOFFICIAL CM10.1 + 3.0.50 Kernel for Kindle Fire 2 [01/15 1st release]
I have searched these forums and cannot find out how I am supposed to take a screenshot. ive tried several apps to no avail. One suggestion was to toggle the power button and one of the options there should be for a screen shot. however, its not. When toggling the power button i get 1. power off 2.reboot 3.profile 4.airplane mode 5. silent mode..
thanks in advance

Settings, system, power menu, screenshot.
Now you can just hold power until the menu pops up and hit the screen shot button

It's bad that I've had my Kindle for this long and didn't realise this. I pride myself of going through the menu's with a fine tooth comb. <facepalm>

_kyl3_,
We found a really cool app named Screenshot UX - it allows you to take a screen shot by pressing a little O at the top Right Hand side of the interface. After you take a screen shot, the options appear asking you if you would like to save it, email it or edit the screen shot.
Until I found the utility I had to use the old Volume Down and Power combo, then half the time I changed the volume unnecessarily as well as the Tablet would ask if I wanted to shut down. Anyway, food for thought, here is a link to the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.liveov.shotux&hl=en
When I use the KK Rom, I can only get the screenshot by using the Power Menu (Long press the power button while the power menu is configured to have a screenshot option). Anyone knows a way or any app I can install to capture a screenshot by long press the "Recent App" Soft key and get a screenshot saved like in the Asus stock ROM?

Thanks for the tip, I installed and tested it, the captured size of the screenshot is not exactly as it is by using the hardware key or the long press Recent Apps softkey.
Any other tips?

I am not using the KK version but does the power and volume down not take a screen cap?
It works in JB version and on my phone with KK?

Yes, the power and volume key combination works, but for 2 reasons I don't like it.
1) too many presses on keys are no good for the hardware, and
2) the TF701 has both power and volume keys on the upper left hand and it is difficult for me to press both keys at once.
I think the best is still the long press Recent Apps soft button implemented by Asus.

You must take a lot of screen shots also I almost never push those buttons
Cant you just assign quicklaunch targets around the home button? works for me.

Please elaborate on this more, are you referring to add the screenshot choice to the power on/off hardware button?
Just use the power options screen shot functionality in kk.... It's in settings, developer settings somewhere. You push the power button and one of the options is a soft button to take a screen shot.
Or stop cheating
Just found out a little tip which many of you might already know. If you are missing the menu button, especially for outdated apps like the xda app, you can still access it. The note 4 replaced the menu button with recent apps button, but if you long press the recent apps button you will get to the menu function.
That is all. Have a good day.

Thanks for that. I was using a friends S5 last night and that was driving me mad. My note 4 is at home waiting for me to open the package
If they completely removed it, then yes but holding task switcher for a couple of more seconds then it doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that I have to hold the back button every time to access Multi window bar as app switcher only has opened apps.

App switcher has on every app window a icon on top right that does what you need.

You are welcome. It would have been a nightmare had it gone forever. Not all applications have that on screen menu button.
Brilliant, I missed that button... nice to know it's still there
Need a way to reverse the functionality from long and short press
Nope don't miss it. I don't even use the long press.

Its not about missing it just because you prefer to press the physical button. There are many apps which don't have the soft menu button. For example, go to Google Now and try to change the settings, but don't long press. Good luck with that.

I just did. Took less than 2 seconds. Then again, 6 of my past 7 phones all had on screen nav buttons, which I prefer

There is. There is no way Google didn't implement soft menu button when they themselves are pushing on screen nav bar and soft menu buttons. Open Google now and it's bottom right corner. Might need to scroll all the way down. That might be the only annoying thing about it but it's there and very easy to access.

Oh I see, thanks. I assumed it would be on the top right corner. However, there does remain other apps that don't have it at all. For example the XDA app.

I agree with what your saying. But you've picked 2 really bad examples. You can get to menu without menu button in xda!
I am used to Android tablets which don't have the menu button anyway, so I don't miss it on the phone.

Open up the left panel and whilst its open. The far right button changes to a settings cog.
People should have read the manual by now...
on my note 7 you'd long press recent apps, and it would bring up menu, how do you access the menu button now? I came across an app today that didn't have an onscreen software menu button and couldn't figure out where Samsung buried the menu button this time.
thanks!
I only have one app that I use that is like that, on my Note 5 long pressing the back button brought up the menu. I use the same version app on my Note 8 but on the Note 8 to the right of the back button 3 dots appear to bring up the menu. I tried the long pressing the back button anyway but it doesn't do anything. That's the only app that I use where I have ever seen the 3 dots appear to the right of the back button, so far anyway.
really so it just appeared for you in that app on its own?
interesting, it isn't in my app. surely there's a way to toggle menu tho right? Samsung didn't completely remove it did they?
Yeah, I didn't do anything, it just appears on it own. Screenshot attached showing the 3 dots & the menu that it brings up.
There is another way but it's kind of annoying. Go to settings>accessibility>dexterity & interaction, then enable assistant menu. It'll put a round button on the screen, opening that & holding down the back button will bring up the hidden menu. That's the annoying part but at least you can move the button around to anywhere on the screen.
That's the weird part, long pressing the back button in that assistant menu will bring up the hidden menu just like it did for my Note 5 but long pressing the actual back button on my Note 8 doesn't do anything.
WOW, that assistant menu trick actually worked... dude that's genius, thanks! I only needed the menu for a second to adjust an important setting, can't thank you enough!

No problem. Glad it worked out for you! That's actually how I had to do it on my Note 5. There was some kind of glitch, even though the back button brought up the menu, as soon as I released the back button the menu would disappear sometimes. Using the assistant menu was the only other way I could do it.
