Hi everyone.
Poco M4 Pro 5G, MIUI 13, apps and system strictly up to date.
I want to customise my top dropdown menu: 2 swipes down, EDIT, and by holding down the icons I move them.
However, the system does not allow me to move and hide more icons than I would like: it requires me to keep at least 10 visible.
Is there a possibility of making more of them disappear?
Another thing.
Once I have customised the visible icons, I tap on DONE and save the setting, which remains like that until the next reboot, after which the system arbitrarily shuffles, makes other icons disappear and appear at will.
For example, there is no way that SCANNER remains in the visible menu.
Am I doing something wrong?
Any suggestions?
Thank you very much!

I have a rooted Nook Color and it is fantastic. However, I want to use the Crosswords application from the Android market. The only problem is that it appears to mess up the size calculation for the screen. It looks to me like it is not correctly calculating the size because it assumes the notification bar will be at the top of the screen. So it ends up overlaying the notification bar over the clues... or in horizontal mode, it overlays them over the bottom row of the software keyboard.
So, I want to selectively disable (or move to the top) the notification bar. Is there any way to do that? Or am I doomed?
Thanks. -ben
I too would love to know how to disable the bar or maybe even move it to the top. After mapping back and menu to the volume buttons the notification bar is really just a nuisance in its current location. However, through my limited research I've found nothing!
Edit: This may be just what you're looking for, I was looking for a more broad solution though....

Softkeys is great for back and menu
The softkeys app is great for the back and menu... I wish it included a button to make the current app be full-screen. But I don't know if it is even possible to do that.
I'm sure it is possible I just don't know if the demand is high enough to add said function, like I said earlier I would love a more permanent way to toggle the bar system wide.
About my Nook is the bottom bar. I am running stock rooted(manual nooter) and so I have the bar on the bottom for my menu button back button etc. Well the only problem there is that when I hit menu for example on my homescreen to get into the main settings or launcher settings it gets very much in the way. Anyone found a solution to this?

I'm guessing you're talking about how a menu item or screen element appears *behind* the Status bar (blocking words, icons, etc)?
Try to contact the developer of that application and ask them to change it. Unfortunately, it seems there isn't aren't any standards or UI guidelines for developing Android applications (compared to something like iOS), so many programs don't look similar or work similar. I've seen very little consistency going from program to program. Google may have some published standards, but they do not enforce them.
For example. LauncherPro and ADW place menu elements in relation to other elements, using similar colors to the system theme. "GO Launcher" is coded to ignore other things and place menu elements where it pleases, using its own color scheme, regardless of anything else on the system.
The "fix" would be to ask the developer to stop doing that.

Doh I'm running Go! too. Maybe I should bail on it.
Hello everyone.
I have not seen this issue discussed but hope that someone may have an answer.
Every now and then I will have the Fullscreen symbol (chevron) "stuck" in my taskbar/launcher when I'm offline. The odder thing is, is when I then go online and surf/download something the symbol is not there. So it's basically reversed. The only "fix" is to reboot.
Any ideas?
Cyanogenmod, nightly 221 at the moment (though I have tried several newer).
As a side note, this has also happened on my HP Touchpad w/ Cyanogenmod.
dl icon...
Its not a download icon. Its a soft button to hide the status bar
Sorry, but it's not. It normally displays when I open an IP camera, browser, etc.
For whatever reason it reverses itself at times.
Tapping it does nothing as it's not a button.
Edit:
Funny. I took a screen shot while it was on the screen, and it doesn't show up in the picture. All other icons/symbols show. LOL. Wth? I'll take a pic later and post it.
Edit: I re-read your post now. Picture attached with 7.1 download icon on the right, and what I assume is your icon you are talking about on the left. Is that correct?
No, that's not it. I get that one when downloading from the Market, etc. Thanks for the effort though.
Here is a pic of it. It's the far right lower (Chevron) one. Like two inverted arrows. Known as a "Chevron" as it looks like Chevrons (gasoline) logo.
It's got to be something to do with being online, browsing, etc.
Ahhh the mystery of it all.
It's no mystery. I thought that was it (I'm just using a different CM7 bar than you).
Go to Settings > CyanogenMod Settings > Tablet Tweaks > Choose soft-buttons and tell me what you have selected.
Home, Menu, Back, Quick Notifications. That's it.
Only thing I can think of is the Fullscreen/Hide Status bar button. Comeone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm still sure that is what it is.
If you open an application that requests full screen (like Netflix or Angry Birds) and press it, does it hide the status bar?

I opened my IP camera app and pressed the icon, and yes, the status bar disappeared (how do I get it back?). But why is the icon showing when I'm not using any app? ie: like it is now.
So now when I open my IP camera app there's no status bar. I don't see a way to get it back. Probably something simple, but I can't find it.
~~
Confirmed that although "Home" is set to restore the Status Bar, it does not. Tried Volume Up, etc. to no avail. Something's buggy. Only a reboot restores things.
Also. Disable Full Screen is checked.
Yeah, looks like the hide bar to me too.
The field under;
Settings -> CM Settings -> Tablet Tweaks -> (Interface) Choose Unhide Button
Is supposed to allow you to pick a button to show the statusbar again.
--Edit--
Just saw your edit, yeah, I have mixed success with the unhide button too.
Not all applications request full screen if I'm right.
Settings > CyanogenMod Settings > Tablet Tweaks > Choose unhide button
Most people choose the N button to unhide, then press it again to go to home.
Well I hope this helps someone else. I just found this old post:
"I had the same problem. Went into the ADW Settings menu and scrolled to the bottom and "Reset ADW".
I reset and all is back to normal, AND the home key now brings back the Status Bar as it should! Yay!
I wish I could edit the thread title to "Fullscreen" symbol weirdness, but I can't.
Thanks for the effort guys.

Sorry if my edits messed up the timeline.
There was a bug that I fixed by resetting ADW. Phew.
Thanks again.
Dear XDA users!
I just bought a P30 pro. Everything is amazing with the device itseflt, (but for me at least), there is one very annoying and frustrating thing I cannot accept and live with that.
I had P20 lite before, and on that phone, after I changed the navigation to gestures, the icon texts in the last row of the screen at the bottom automatically were unhided. Like "Dailer", "Messages", "Mail" etc..
It is the same behavior for other devices as well, such as Honor8x, Mate20 lite, etc, so if the navigation bar is hidden (by gestures or 3rd party app), the name of the icons are turned ON, because there is enough space to show them instead of the navigation bar.
It makes me crazy that it does not work the same like in the other phones. Why? Is there any solution to bring back, or show the icon names at the bottom, if the gestures are enabled?
Currently it looks so stupid that an unvisible line is under the icons.
Please help. Any suggestion is very appreciated!
Samy, HTC, Pixel, etc all have no icon names in homescreen
Hello. I updated my mi 9 t pro to Miui 11 with android 10 and unfortunately I have some really annoying bugs that I can't solve:
1) the "cut, copy and paste" function works very badly. When I try to highlight text, e.g. on whatsapp, it is problematic to move the cursor between words; in fact, the cursor moves by force between the staves and above all, when I bring it down to the last staff, he returns alone to the top of the first staff.
2) on android, as we know, there are some apps for which, when you go out, e.g. to return home, a window remains opened in miniature which can be moved on the screen as you wish; one of these apps is "google maps". All of this on my mi 9 doesn't work at all: when e.g. I leave maps and return home, not only does the thumbnail not open, but maps does not even appear in the carousel of recent applications. The only way I can go back to maps is to click on its icon or click on its notification in the notification bar. Once back to the app, however, it opens with a black screen. What can all this depend on? how do I solve? I specify that I use "Nova Launcher prime".
