Question Stiff Buttons - Motorola Edge 30 Ultra / Motorola Moto X30 Pro

Hi,
I just recently became a proud owner of this phone, but the first thing I noticed right off the bat was that the buttons are not as clicky and tactile as I'm used to being, coming from the OnePlus 6 I can definitely say the button feels a bit stiff and quite mushy, I'm using it with the default silicone case. Is it just me?

yes. From 1+7 pro. this phone has tiny and stiff buttons.

Buttons are not stiff. Remove rhe case and see for yourself. It is the case that is the problem

Nope. Not stiff.
The buttons are considered well built and strong with no rattling or moving parts.
You might be used to old, low quality buttons like the OnePlus 6 where the button will be pressed with just a slight touch..and that is not a good thing.

[Q] Flex / creek in the back of the case?

So, just have a quick question.. i just picked up a bc today, and have loved rooting it and modding it. But i noticed one thing, the back of the case (and somewhat the front too) around an inch below the power button has somebflex and creek. I don't think it is a huge problem, but am curious if this is normalor just mine. . .

Yeah I have seen a few others mention that and I can confirm that mine is the same. For that kind of price there has to be more than one thing that suffers and in this case it seems to be build quality to some extent.
My volume buttons feel loose and rattle easily, also if you tap the back of the nc you can feel that the case is not solid at all. I'm not really bothered by it though.
/mr
I haven't taken my nook apart but from the zdnet teardown picks it looks like you could put some foam or something inside the case to give it a better feel.
/mr
My book as a slight creak but only because i was looking for it, I couldn't tell otherwise. It is on the top of my book where the front bezel frame meets the case. It does not bother me. On my wife's book there is no creak at all. They probably should have glued or used adhesive along the edge of the bezel to prevent the minor flexing that creaks.
I have a similar issue on mine. Mine creaks right where your hand goes when holding it in portrait mode. I'm considering exchanging it for a different unit.
Many people are noticing this:

My apologies on a duplicate thread - i did a quick search and didn't find this.. i ll be sure to look better in the future.

HTC hard case

I bought a blue hard case made by HTC at radioshack. It is nice but it makes the keyboard hard as heck to slide out.
seen here
Still, decent case for now.

I got it too, seems like the keyboard is equally hard to slide out either way(with or without the case) for me, just a thought. I like the case though.
I've got it too. I like it a lot. I've never been a fan of cases on sliders, but this works pretty good.

And the rubberish back on it I would think make it less likely to slip out of your hand.

The back is like my favorite part of it. Makes setting it down very nice and secure.
Does it protect the camera lens well? My only complaints so far are the volume rocker and when I put the phone down face up, the camera lens rubs up against whatever surface I put it on.

Yeah the camera is back from the case so when you set it down its completely off the ground.

That's the case my g/f got for her Shift. I actually don't like how the rubber provides a little bit of resistance when you pull it out of your pocket. Do you notice that? Or am I making that up?
I'm holding out for an offering from either Otterbox (Commuter or Impact) or Seidio (Active or Surface).
I don't notice it, but when I pull out my phone my hand covers the back.
Sent from my bathroom, with toilet paper.
Funny you post this actually. Ordered this same exact thing from un-heard of website. It was on back order though, and sadly sprint didnt have this listed when the phone first came out. Wish I ordered it from them. Would have been tons faster.
got my wife this case and hers slides out fine.
got two of these (wife and I) I'm really liking these cases, nice and snug, and I like that it holds the kb firm without stressing it (don't really use it anyway) most of the slider cases have those flimsy clips that hold it on, but these are nice and wide so they don't look like they'll crack any time soon. And yes the rubbery part on the back is very nice, gives it a solid grippy feel.

How does this phone feel?

Hey.
Wanted to ask does this phone feel solid when you hold it (like iphone 4) or plastic (like samsung vibrant)?
Please let me know.
Thanks.
It feels pretty solid to me, not like the Galaxy S or vibrant.
Defo feels solid. Good weight to it. Also liking the raised out camera lense. When holding in you hand upright my finger just sits under it meaning you don't feel it will slip out

Sold my Galaxy S for that reason.
2X is more like a HTC device than a piece of plastic (Samsung)
Its very solid, I like it.
It has a very nice feel, i think it has a nicer feel then Iphone4, when i hold an I4 i have the feeling that it is about to slip/jump out of my hand (maybe cuz i know it's made of glass, and my brother already has broken 2 of them by shatterig the glass?)
The O2X feels like it is made from quality materials, and has just the right weight to, not feel heavy, but just plain nice
..........just for the record, i'm not much of an [fruty-phone] kind'a guy, so me comparing it to an Iphone might not be fair to the Iphone......
The O2X has kind'a round edges compared to the I4.......i like that difference!
Go to a shop and try holding it in your hand, then you'l know if you like it.....
Exactly,
I knew I wanted this phone because of it's hardware.. didn't even look at it when I picked up the box at the T-Mo store..
But over the last 4 weeks I have grown very very fond of the phone. It feels very good when holding it, the screen is large, but doesn't feel like it.
I have actually turned off the touchscreen button backlight completely. During the day you can still see the imprint of it behind the glass, and at night.. well.. you tend to get to know the layout by heart.
I would recommend this phone to anyone.
I really like the feeling of the phone. Have it for a couple of days now and I came from an HTC Diamond 2. It has a nice grip cause of the soft plastic back (I had a custom mat backcover on my Diamond 2 too). It does not slide away in the car when on the passengers seat ;-).
The phone is not to heavy and not to light. It does not feel like a toy. Everything's had a nice build quality and feels solid. The sides have a metal feel to it (because it is metal ... ;-).
The screen en glass feels like high quality too. The rounded curves give it a nice feeling when touching it (no, not that kind of feeling ;-P
I recommend this phone too!
My only comment is that it's about 10 grams too heavy and about 8 mm too long.
Other than that it feel great.
I actually like the length. I have long fingers, so I don't have to "hook" my pointer (R) finger too much to unlock like I had to with the Galaxy S Vibrant.
Weight is really nice. Solid build materials, especially the glass (Gorilla Glass) and the curves. Sexiness.

Does it withstand reboot?
Feels great in the hand, soft touch plastic on the back is better than it sounds
Also like the curved edges of display, feels quite premium
good to hear, as I didnt like the samsung vibrant plastic feel even though it was a great phone

Rear glass creaking near top of device

I made this comment in the impressions thread but am trying to bring more light to it...
Put your phone face down, rub your thumb on the upper half of the phone, does it creak at the top? Its almost like the rear glass wasn't put on properly on my device - it creaks like plastic. I'm really surprised by this since most reviews say the thing is completely creak free. And yes its somewhat annoying because I can hear the creaking more and more when I am just handling the phone....
Thanks
Edit - made a video.... now that its happening more often it seems to be due to the plastic/rubber trim (which goes around the phone) not fitting properly, its flexing between the front and rear glass. BLah, I wish I had a bumper to see if that would minimize the issue. Its very noticable now. I added a 2nd video on youtube.

Hope people will be able to answer this if the phone creaks at all I don't think I'll get it

No creaking at all from my device. The power button is a little wiggly tho...not as solid as the volume rocker which is kind of annoying, but not a deal breaker or anything.

This +1
Stand on your head and rub the left corner counter clockwise.... Do you hear that noise? Come on guys.... really?
But to answer your question no mine does not creak perhaps you should return if you rub the back of it a lot.
Nope, no sort of creaking with mine in any form, and the buttons are all very firmly in place. The whole device feels extremely sturdy and well built.

You're an idiot - I started the thread to get real comments...
As my original post says, it occurs in regular situations when handling the phone. There is a creak on upper half of the rear or top of the device. It's annoying to spend any substantial amount on a device and have it creaking when new. I'll try to make a video later.
The buttons are fine on mine though - no issues there.

I mistakenly thanked your post but that I feel the opposite.
We are on XDA and on the Nexus 4 forum, it isn't like the OP is making a huge deal out of it. He is just wondering if any other people have been experiencing the same issue.
People post on these device-specific forums to discuss about the particular device, people are well aware that there are things in life outside of smartphones without you having to point it out.
it is completely solid, power button doesnt wiggle, there is a bit of a rattle when tapping the top but thats the camera lens I assume (only rattles when tapping near the camera)
Yeah I don't think it should be creaking at all, especially since the back is glass and non-removable. As you said, it probably wasn't put on right. I would wait a couple of weeks until this whole order fiasco is fixed before calling about doing a warranty exchange.

Agree - especially when the majority of people say its extremely solid. I'll post a video later tonight (I'm at work right now) so people can have something to relate to...

Mine creaks on the bottom
mine doesn't creak at all. Of course I don't sensually rub mine on the top of the glass where there is no touch feedback, but to each his own.

lol...
It creaks under real world situations if I grip the phone on both sides to turn on power it will flex and creak. If I grip with my index finger on top of the phone and fingers on both sides on the top, it creaks.
My phone doesn't creak no matter how I hold or press on it

seriously? cmon guys...u guys look for annnnny thing to ***** about. no device is perfect...
No creak, wobbliness, dead pixels, shaky mic, but I do have that line in the top right in the plastic. I kinda like it, it gives the phone character.

Build quality ?

Hi there !
Could anyone tell me how is the in hand feel of the XZ1C compared to other phones ?
Are the buttons mushy and cheap or tight and accurate ?
Any other impressions
I had 3 Compact models from Sony yet and each was pretty solid. No creaks, button works perfectly.
I've had mine for 12 months now, and can honestly say it is rock solid, no button creaks or mushy feel to them..
Fantastic little device
Same here, quite content with this model. Buttons are working perfect since 1 year (fingerprint too) and the only bad point is the material (plastic) of the back, makes my phone slips easily in the hand.
More than ten times has fallen from my hands and still looks like the first day i bought. (a big bonus for the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 screen)
