Good morning,
I'm an old geek who hasn't practiced for many years. I ask you for a lot of patience, I'm no longer very practical with these things.
I hope to regain my hand a little and also become useful for someone else.
Greetings

Good day to all, I guess I should be polite and introduce myself, these days the internet is becoming more and more characterless, so I guess I should give a bit of warmth here .
Long time since I have participated in any forum, so I hope I haven't lost my touch, or at least I'm not too rusty .
I hope I can contribute in any way in the future, let's get started!

While I was just reading, I came across your introduction.... been here for a month and heard from anyone?
Still, I hope you feel very welcome and already read and learned a lot.
Give yourself time to learn how XDA works. Some topics are very difficult but also very simple things are covered. First of all, look for the smartphone you have in "search" and what can be found about it.
Enjoy this beautiful website to the fullest!
Sincerely.
Hey folks,
I'm Tony! Glad to join the community. I've known about XDA since I tried to root my first Android phone in high-school (this is early 2010s). I never joined formally, mostly just read, but over time lost touch with hacking.
I'm now a full-time software engineer at AWS, trying to hack more lately. My main focus these days is turning an old Surface RT I have into a proper work-station/dev machine. It's super underrated, and with a bit of effort I think it can do a whole lot more than what's initially obvious. One of my recent successes was getting AWS PowerShell to run on it -

Hope to learn about and share more interesting hacks with y'all! I'd forgotten how fun this is!
Yours truly,
Tony

Hi There, I'm glad I could join your Community, I have known about XDA devs for a few years now and have checked a few threads over the years , and I just wanna say that you guys are awesome, and the things that can be accomplished thanks to the collective efforts and knowledge here are nothing short of amazing to me.
I hope as I gain more of that knowledge and experience I may too be able to enrich this community.
I have always used Android , and never cared much for Apple, it seems too overpriced and unreliable to me.
I have been using an LG G8 "ThinQ" Verizon (stock) for some time now, and just decided to go ahead and Jump into world of possibilities that Custom ROMS and Root Modules offer to the curious "thinQering" mind.
However, I have run into a situation where I am unsure of how to proceed, STILL, before posting I will make sure to READ everything relevant to the problem that I can find.
I am Confident a Solution can be achieved.
Welcome to XDA and your off to a great start!
Enjoy the forums information!
Cheers

Thank you @galaxys, i will do my best, i feel like i am getting closer to a solution just by reading the right Posts
I used XDA for the first time this evening, and you guys provided so much background help, that I had to join and I made a profile.
I am 50+ where sometimes new tech just leaves me shaking my head.
I appreciate the advice here, as well as a gentle forum where "Android semi-Ludites" can feel comfortable and get real advice that I can understand.
You guys are so patient and used normal language to help explain how to fix problems.
Great to be here!
