[Q] Help! Device Locked Due to Abnormal Factory Reset

Hi all,
I am in desperate need of help with this AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 that I found in abroad. Before I get chewed out with accusations of theft, I found the phone in a restaurant and gave to the staff who returned it to me after 3 days an no one had come to claim it.
Anyway, I have been trying to unlock it for use in Canada. I'm a bit of a noob, so please be patient Started with a commercial unlock code to SIM unlock. I received a "successful" message, so I assume it worked. However, I was told that AT&T locks other SIM cards from working on their firmware, so I began to try to flash and install a custom rom. I went to geohot's towelroot page and clicked the lambda. I think it did something. For some reason, I decided it would be a good idea to do factory data wipe from the volume down+power+home recovery screen. Now, I can't get past the initial setup which is asking for my original Samsung login ID, which I obviously don't have. In addition, I can't flash the rom with Odin or install off of external SD card.
Please help!!!
Thanks!
AK

Galaxy Tab & Retail Mode

So I made the mistake of purchasing a Galaxy Tab A (SM-T550) from someone on craigslist. It turns out it's locked in Retail Mode. I've tried all the 5444 passwords and such to unlock it with no luck. I downloaded Odin and flashed it with the appropriate firmware...and no factory reset doesn't work (it's locked by the MDM)....What can I do? Is there any possible way to remove the retail mode? Please help, I'm somewhat technical so I'll try anything.
Same model, same problem.
Did you ever manage to figure this out? I got the exact same thing from clearance at Sears. Every password I've found does not work. Loading a stock firmware with Odin ends up doing nothing as well. I'm at a loss of ideas now.

Help with bricked (hopefully soft) Note 5

Guys,
I bought an immaculate second hand Note 5 for 160 euro/180 dollars/140 pounds including shipping. It comes with the charger and an official Samsung case. It doesn't come with the box or anything else. I won't have it until tomorrow but I'm just trying to get a head start at hopefully fixing it.
Now here's the problem. The guy I bought it from got it from his work place. It was on the Vodafone network but he got it unlocked. He also rooted it. When he went to sell it a couple months back he factory reset it and now it doesn't go past the "Samsung Galaxy Note 5" splash screen. He's had it collecting dust for 3 months now.
Does this sound like it'll be as easy as an ODIN flash? As far as I know if it gets stuck on bootloops or stuck at the splash screen it's soft bricked and not hard bricked.
I've attached pictures if they help at all but I doubt it. Apparently it's a lot cleaner than the pictures and doesn't have a scratch on it. He also guarantees it's not water damaged!
Any help appreciated!
You can easy reflash the original firmware with Odin. It's nothing major.

Wow! You really think that's all? Because it doesn't come with the box I won't have access to the IMEI or serial numbers. Do you think it'll be a problem? I also have no idea what model number it is but ill ask where he got it (he lives in Ireland but I think he works in the UK as we never got the Note 5 here) maybe that'll help narrow it down.

Hopefully it's that easy! And is there a sure fire way to return to stock, unroot, relock bootloaders etc and reset any knox trips so I can use Samsung Pay etc?

If i were in your situation i would install custom recovery thru odin then flash one of the many universal note5 roms. Just how i would approach that situation.

Will it automatically know which model it is and when I check settings it'll tell me? And then be able to go back to complete stock?

You are in good shape no matter how you approach this because your device is ALIVE. You would need to be worried if nothing showed up on screen (DEAD). That my friend would be hard bricked.

You can return everything to stock except knox. Once knox is tripped its permanent.? And once you boot up any rom, settings will identify imei, model #, etc...

Cool beans! So because of the knox trip via root, a few Samsung things like pay won't work. Am I right?

With knox tripped you will lose just the warranty which doesn't matter anyway. Samsung pay is working if you keep stock rom without root. Try to see if you can go in recovery mode with vol up home and power and do a factory reset. Sometimes is resolving the boot problem.

oh cool Samsung pay will work! Awesome sauce!!!
Phone arrived this morning! Here's where I'm at:
The phone model is the n920s, apparently some sort of korean telecomm model.
I was successfully able to boot into recovery mode via volume up, home and power button. I tried wipeing everythiong and rebooting but it doesn't pass the Galaxy Note 5 splash screen. I'm now downloading it's stock firmware and going to try flashing it via odin.
So it seems I haven't completed lucked out after all!
My findings are that it appears to be a bad/blacklisted imei. I know there is paid options to fix this but how likely are they to work?
I also found that when I boot to recovery mode it gives me theses lines in the log;
dm-verity verification failed
need to check drk first
What is this?
Even after flashing the correct n920s package from sammobile via odin I have these lines.
Any help appreciated!
Don't bother with dm-verity verification. You can google and you can see. For IMEI go to www.imeigurus.com. They are very good and they can fix your problem for 35$ include sim unlocking for that amount.

I had a look at that website and I see they don't support my phone which is n920s version. In regards to forgetting about the DRK, I'm pretty sure that's why I can't boot my phone.
Just to clarify for all I seem to have three main problems now;
1 - IMEI is bad/blacklisted (Repairable).
2 - dm-verity verification need to check drk first (Not sure how to fix).
3 - FRP Lock is enabled/on stopping me from installing twrp etc (not sure how to fix).
Phone cannot boot up to enable USB Debug or anything.
Stuck only with recovery mode and ODIN mode.
Just to keep everything in one place for anyone else who has this problem, here is a private message I just sent to 123Unlock over at sammobile.com forums. He is from SRS(Simlock Remote Server) - www.unlocksamsungonline.nl
Hi there,
I've been reading through a lot of websites for the last 7 hours trying to fix a phone that I bought. I was caught in a scam and sold a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 N920S which has a bad/blacklisted IMEI, the FRP lock is enabled/on and the DRK needs to be repaired. The guy who sold it to me said he got it from his work place. He also said he got it unlocked (I don't know what network it was on) and rooted it. Then when he went to sell it he factory reset it and now it's stuck/broken the way it is.
After all my reading it seems like you/your company are the only ones capable of fixing my phone. Could you please help me. I'm obviously willing to pay for the job.
My phone does not boot but I can enter ODIN and recovery modes. For more information here is a thread I started over at XDA - Developers:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/help/help-bricked-hopefully-soft-note-5-t3445232
To contact me directly here is my email - [email protected]
Look forward to hearing from you,
Chris.
Did you flash the stock firmware with Odin? Did you put the firmware in AP section in odin and it was successfully flashed? Sometimes after that it keep staying in boot screen for long time. Just turn it off presing the power key for 10 seconds and turn on again.

I could use a little help guys

Hi guys I'm trying to flash Jovi's Custom Rom. I accidentally pressed the update button on my phone that allows the Latest update from t-moble to kill the phone so It wont charge. Luckily I have quite a but of battery power left and I'm franticly trying to flash a jovi's custom rom. currently I'm getting a "Failed" message when trying to flash on ODEN 3.12 here are the directions I followed to the letter but no success.
First Thing Your Going To Do Is Download Both graceqltetmo_N930TUVU1APGC_Stock_Deodexed.zip And N930T_Note7_Adb_Rootkit_And_Odin_Pack.zip Files From The Download Link Section Below.
2. Extract All The Files From N930T_Note7_Adb_Rootkit_And_Odin_Pack.zip Onto Your PC Desktop, You Will Then Have Eight Files On Your Desktop Which Will Be MODIFIED_TMO_SPR_N930PVPU1APH3_REV00_ENGBOOT_FIRMW ARE.tar.md5, graceqltetmo_N930TUVU1APGC_Stock_Deodexed.img, SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.45.0.exe , adb-setup-1.4.3.exe, CommandPrompt.bat, Odin3.exe, Odin3.ini, And sun7.
3. If You Haven't Setup ADB On Your PC Yet Or Installed The Samsung USB Drivers, Just Open Both Executables SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.45.0.exe And adb-setup-1.4.3.exe And Complete Both The Setup Processes. Once Done You Should Now Have A Created ADB Directory Which Should Be Located At C:\adb. Once ADB Is Setup, Place The sun7 Folder And CommandPrompt.bat Inside Your ADB Folder From The New Directory.
4. Now Put Your Phone Into Download Mode By Powering Off Your Device First And Then Hold The "Volume Down+Home+Power Buttons" At The Same Time Until You See The Download Mode Warning Screen. Now Press The "Volume Up Button" And Then Insert Your Samsung USB Plug.
5. Now Open Odin3.exe, Click On "AP", Select "MODIFIED_TMO_SPR_N930PVPU1APH3_REV00_ENGBOOT_ FIRM WARE.tar.md5", And Then Click On "Start". Wait For A Couple Of Minutes For The Modified N930PVPU1APH3 Engboot Firmware To Finish Installing. After this step it says failed so this is where I'm suck currently at the bootloader. thanks guys for your help

It still works its just stuck at the boot loader. I think when I attempted to flash the stock rom back on the phone It wiped everything. Honestly I'm not trying to root I'm just trying to install the stock rom
You should be able to download it in Sammobile, they usually have every firmware available for Samsung phones. Then you would want to checkout the N7A their accepting beta testers for v2 of the app. Maybe check with them before to see how you should proceed on reinstalling the initial firmware to avoid the update again.

No problem I've been using package disabler pro & N7A's shield for a while now and haven't had any issues. Plus N7A is a really great community especially when other forums don't provide much assistance. I think about 80% off the people still using the Note 7 have either joined N7A or the N7 Rebels (I've heard they charge for their app & assistance but haven't verified myself). ?

Ok cool I just signed in to N7A site. It looks really informative. I downloaded the firmware from sam mobile as you suggested also I have about 10 more minuits before its done downloading. ill keep you posted.
Ok I'd check the help and tutorials section for re-flashing firmware after an update, cause I'm not sure how you would avoid getting the update again unless you have a some sort of shield or package disabling app in place.

downloading the shield now. hopefully this works because I had to go back to using my note 3. and I'm like OMG what a major downgrade

Hey just giving you an update. Phone still stuck at boot loader but I have watched the lady known as catwoman video on youtube. I have downloaded and unzipped all the files and even tried to flash without success. Oden keeps giving me a fail. The only problem is with the smart switch application she recommended for download. I downloaded it and ran the app like suggested. It said that the my device is unsupported by smart switch. I cam to the conclusion that this is the way I should have started vs wiping everything which is the reason I'm stuck at the boot loader because there is no data on my phone. Here are the steps I took to get past this problem.
1. Reinstalled Smart Switch, but after the re- install no success.
2. I reopened Smart Switch and clicked the tab that says "MORE" then on Emergency Software & instillation. I followed the steps which included imputing my device model number and S/N. Did that but my device is still reading as a unsupported device on smart switch. I'm in progress of contacting her to see if she or any of her team as any ideas. Hopefully I'm back up and running soon. I cant wait for the note 8 so I can be done with this

[Looking for] Combination ROM G97XFXXS3ASJG

Hello everyone!
My Samsung S10 phone recently died, so I gave it to the local repair shop. They said that it couldn't be repaired, I should buy a new one. Instead, I tried to fix it myself.
While trying, the phone turned on again like nothing ever happened. Unfortunately, the phone now is FRP locked, it seems to have reset itself.
In order to remove the FRP bypass of my Samsung S10, I looked into removing FRP in general. I found a few guides online saying to use a Combination ROM. I downloaded the one provided and tried flashing it using Odin. This didn't work, the phone said "Please get the approval to use factory binaries". In addition, the Combination ROM provided doesn't have the same model number as my phone. The Combination ROM downloaded is called "COMBINATION_FAC_FA90_G973FXXU1ASB2_FAC_CL15414360_QB22060741_REV01_user_mid_noship.tar", while the phone model number displayed in factory mode is "G97XFXXS3ASJG".
I would be really happy if you could help me out with this. I have two concerns in particular:
1. What do I have to do in order to be able to flash a Combination ROM?
2. Do I even need the Combinaton ROM with the exact same model number, and if so, can anyone provide the file?
P.S.: I'm a beginner, got into this topic only for the cause of fixing my own phone.
Greetings,
reqqu
