Question First Pixel 7 Pro - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

Looking to purchase 7 Pro had samsung , oneplus , xioami . At moment im on s21 Ultra which i have had since release don't know whether wait for 23 ultra or pick up 7 Pro. main thing for me is battery life . on my s21 ultra i would get day and half with 6hrs s.o.t .

Pixel 7 Pro is no different in terms of battery life especially since the chipset has Exynos DNA. I'd stay clear of Xiaomi and Oneplus as both are notorious when it comes to software updates. If you really want battery champions, you should look at mid-range devices. This is a segment that's been innovating a lot. You get most of the flagship features in mid-range phones today whilst having long-lasting battery life. However much I'd hate to say it, if you are looking for a flagship with the best battery life, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is the only one out there.

What will your next phone be ?

Hello guys ,
So i was currently thinking of upgrading my oneplus 3
But i couldn't settle on a certain phone , the only 2 phones in my mind would be the oneplus 7 pro and Samsung galaxy s10 plus since both cost the same where i live , let me know what you think guys
I am going to wait for the Pixel 4 and then make a decision..
I would choose the 7 Pro over the S10 Plus for its VFM and screen!
The s10's price is diving so you may be able to pick up a bargain. Depends on your criteria.

Currently using the 3T and will be upgrading to the s10 plus. I'm just waiting for the price of the s10 plus to dip a bit further down. Personally I think the s10 plus is more equipped with features and well rounded.

Ordered the Oneplus 7 pro (Almond colour) 8/256, will arrive tomorrow. Very excited.
But will still keep my OP3 with me for as long as it lives.

The S10 plus is a really great phone but i keep getting pulled away due to the below points
1. Touch wiz and the history of updates
2. Developer community always better on one plus devices
3. The notchless screen on the oneplus 7 pro makes it look much appealing the s10 plus screen .

Congrats , let us know what you think when you receive it
I get your point. Samsung is refining oneui to bring it closer to stock android and is increasing update supports for it's flagships, according to latest reports and that's good enough for me.
Oneplus phones surely has more community support, but nowadays phones with stock roms has got so much better that the idea of installing custom roms is becoming less tempting.
The 7 Pro may look more appealing because of it's all screen design, but I still have some reservations about the pop up camera with regards to how long it will remain functional as a moving part.
I'm not trying to convince you as to why the s10 plus is a better phone then the 7 Pro because both phones are great in their own way, I'm just sharing my personal reason why I'm going to get the s10 plus as my next phone.

Personally I'm keeping my op3 as long as it's working and not struggling with doing anything. However of it were to die tomorrow I'd be looking at he op7 pro, the Xiaomi black shark 2, or the oppo Reno 10x zoom
Take a look at Xiaomi Mi 9
Zenfone 6 since it will officially receive lineage os. I don't like the size of the phone and just 18W charging but it has the greatest battery life.
If the s10e becomes cheaper and receives lineage os, I'll gladly opt for it.

The pixel devices are always highly priced
I'm looking for a mate 20 pro, I'm waiting for huawei/trump fight to end (I don't want to buy a phone that is not going to have android Q).
Also I'm a little bit annoyed to not be able to unlock bootloader.
But mate 20 pro is what I want, great camera and battery

You have the budget for the S10, so I don't see why you can't buy the Pixel
Right now in India, the smaller pixel 3 is priced lower than the s10. I don't know how much it is in your country.
Pretty sure the smaller pixel 4 variant will be around the same price range.
I sure as hell won't buy a device with a notch and no headphone jack. I am at minority here but those are my requirements for now.
Redmi K20 Pro and Zenfone 6Z are top contenders for my money (I don't want to go back to IPS LCD but might have to). OnePlus phones are naturally out because they decided to "follow trend" and removed headphone jack. OP3 is working fine for my usage and i don't need the best camera, an average camera will do for me so no appeal of Pixel 4 to me at all. So for now, yeah, not many options, K20 pro is choice 1, zenfone 6z being 2nd.
I'm thinking about OP6 as it's the last OP with headphone Jack and notification LED. I know the notch isn't great but for me, small notch + OLED > LCD.
OP7, not the pro version because I definitely do not want a phone with moving parts. No Samsung, I have nothing with the brand...
But as others said before, will keep using my OP3T as long as possible. Fast, two days of battery life, great camera and straight forward; still did not find a good reason for making a switch. ..
I'd buy an iPhone, currently using oneplus 3, lasted for 2years. Still snappy with good battery backup.

Should I change my smartphone?

I currently own a Xiaomi mi 8, I love my cell phone but I think it's time to give way to a flagship. My options are the Mi 9T Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S10 +. Which smartphone do you recommend?
Well, if you're happy with xiaomi I guess mi9T pro is a great phone, but if you want something else I whould recommend oneplus 7T or Samsung galaxy S10E if you want a Samsung phone.
But if you're looking for the best bang for your buck I think realme X2 pro is the best option along side OP 7T

I would strongly suggest that you wait until March..at least. This way you can buy one of the many new phones that will feature an Snapdragon 865 processor. Such as the Xiaomi Mi10, Mix 4, One Plus 8, 8T etc.
Moving one generation higher isn't really enough of a difference to justify moving. Plus many of the phones with the very latest processors will also be compatible with 5G., and once these new phones are released the price of current flagships will definitely drop, so it's financially wiser to be patient.
If you search you will see quite a few posts here on XDA , where people discuss how they bought a Mi9T or a Samsung and they wanted to share that they regretted buying a new phone because they were expecting the new phone to have dramatic differences.
By the way, I had also considered selling my mi8 and moving on. But I will definitely wait.

You are absolutely right, it is better to wait a couple of months and get a flagship, and this year all top-of-the-range smartphone will have the screen with a minimum refresh rate of 90Hz

Should I buy the OnePlus 8 Pro or Note 10+?

I live in India and I'm thinking about getting a new phone. I have two options mostly, buy the OnePlus 8/8 Pro or get a used Note 10 Plus. What should I do? I will get the Exynos version of Note 10. I currently own a Galaxy S10.
oneplus 8 pro is the best android out there for now. saying this cause IMHO (as close to) stock android or oxygenOS is much better than OneUI and will ever be.
I am a Samsung fanboy, so I say get the note 10 as long as you can get one with a snapdragon processor.
dude I'm a s10+ user indian variant imo u should just buy op8 pro coz exynos is the ****tiest flagship processor u can get never buy Samsung flagship in india my biggest regret

Nothing against India at all, but you guys do tend to get ****ty Samsung hardware. ?
Go for the OP 8. I regret getting it. Battery life is...well, it's absolute crap on the S10 Exynos variant.
Keep in mind I'm comparing it to my Pixel 2 XL. The physical difference is only 100mAh less on the S10 but it feels like there's a lemon from your science project barely holding on to dear life in there.

yea bro Samsung is just milking Indians I'm thinking of switching to op8 or op8 pro if i get a good deal for this s10+
You either love Samsung or you hate it i guess ? the oneplus in specs wins it against the Samsung. I still would go for the Samsung. I love the updates they provide the last 2 years. And really happy with all the other stuff. Galaxy buds/galaxy watch. ect
It always amazes me when people want comparison of 2 or more phones nobody mentions the physical dimensions.
I went with S10 because I got the biggest real estate/ screen for the most compact size and still be able to use it one-handed.

Should I buy a brand new Note 8 FD version in 08 2020?

Greetings,
I want to buy a new phone. I am coming from Xiaomi world. I am not a gamer. I use it mainly for reading (online, e-books), youtube videos and some photography during my hiking trips (which are getting rare due to covid-19).
I would like to buy either Note 8 or Note 9 FD version phone from Aliexpress since they are now getting a bit cheaper. I've tried Xiaomi 9s and I wasn't impressed with the display dimness, battery life and overall quality etc. considering I am paying close to 200 euros.
I would like to pay a bit more to get a solid phone with stylus. For Note 8 I will also buy an external battery (I don't mind the bulk) to equalize or better the battery life on the phone.
My questions to you Samsung Note owners are:
1. Which version of the phone has better chances from XDA community to get Android 10 and/or 11 support for Custom ROMs.
2. In your opinion in 2020 if you were offered this phone under 300 euros, would you still buy it?
3. Any quirks, advice you would like to share with a newbie like myself.
4. For another 100 euros extra I can also get Note 9 FD version, aside from the stereo speakers, slightly better display brightness, slightly bigger battery (I will negate that with external battery case), should I buy note 9?
Many thanks in advance for any help or comments

The Note 9 would be the way to go and it answers all of your questions.. If you can afford the Note 9 it's better to get that versus the Note 8 which is no longer getting any updates anymore!
I agree with MrMike, although the Note 8 is still a great phone imo, if your budget can stretch to a Note 9 you should get that.
I am sure there will be many videos on YouTube comparing the Notes against each other, which may help you make the decision.

In 2020, I'd buy a Note 10 (not even a Note 9). My only reason for a Note 9 over the Note 8, is the latest software update (not the bluettoth S Pen). Give it a few months before the Note 9 no longer gets software updates.
I actually have the cash to buy a Note 10 right now, but I can't find a fault with my Note 8 other than the lack of the latest variant of Android. I still wouldn't buy another Note 8 in 2020, but would have done so in 2019.
Get a note 9 if possible.... You ll get better battery, performance and updates. And there shouldn't be much of a price diff.... Just make sure u get a good piece. Some people are selling repaired ones.... With parts from diff models..... All the best
Thanks everyone. I think I will be getting the new M31s unless there is a significant price drop on Note 10 lite after Monday's S20 note announcement. I was looking for a cheap Amoled phone hence note 8 but learned of M31s about 220 euro price for 6GB RAM and I think for what I do with the phone and longer battery life this one fits my budget perfectly. Cheers

Comparing samsung s20 fe (snapdragon) to Huawei p30 pro (2020)

Hi, I am new here and need some advise.
I am choosing between Huawei P30 PRO (2020) and Samsung s20 FE (snapdragon). Key features of importance are camera, battery life, screen quality and performance. I am really having troubles with choosing between the two handsets.
Would someone share their opinion, especially if the choice was similar to mine or based on your experience of a specific handset over time.
Many thanks
I think Huawei is finished giving android updates to it's phones, heard they're moving to their in-house OS that has android app compatibility. at the moment you can side load play store (can't remember if the P30 was before the ban and ships with PS), in the future who knows. I'd take a look at each phones sub reddit before spending any cash. neither is perfect. some have been unlucky with screen issues, many have had none at all on their FE. I have them myself.
if you plan to keep the phone a while that should be a factor in your choice. very slow custom rom and mod development on the FE, Huawei is bound to be livelier.
I have both these phones and they are both great. I got the P30 Pro New Edition when it came out last year. It's still fast and has great battery life and the cameras are very good. Huawei are still updating it with security patches (quarterly I think) and it got EMUI 11 about 3 months ago. But EMUI 11 is still based on Android 10 and don't expect the Android version to be updated even if the EMUI version does. Also coming later in the year is the update to Harmony OS which may (or maybe not) remove all Play Store access. Personally I'm looking forward to Harmony OS as it will be nice to be running something different and I also own the...
S20 FE 5G. This is also a good device with decent cameras and battery life. It feels less premium in the hand compared to the P30 Pro but that's because it is a less premium device! It has a plastic back and a flat screen compared to glass back and curved screen on the P30 Pro - some may well prefer both of these differences on the S20FE. Updates are more frequent on the Samsung - monthly - and they have committed to it being updated for another couple of Android versions. Personally I would lean towards the S20FE because of the long term support on both devices, the P30 Pro may well be OK but we can't be sure what will happen in a couple of years.
I own both because I use the desktop mode on both phones and, if your bothered, DeX (Samsung) is slightly better than Easy Projection (Huawei) but both do a decent job if you are interested.
