My watch always locks itself when I'm not wearing it (I have SPay).
Can I do something against this?
i.e.: disable locking when phone is connected over BT? Or in general, disable locking and only ask Pin when SPay is opening?
Anyone?
I have a Watch 4 and am using SPay on the watch. It requires a pin to be set on the watch, but as long as I am wearing my watch, once I unlock it, it stays unlock. The security section on the watch settings even says this. Not sure if you are having an issue or if the Watch 5 is different. If the watch is too loose, it will not detect that you are wearing it and will lock.
Same for me: what I wish to avoid is to enter the code every time when I drop this watch onto charger (for example).
No issues during I wear it, but as soon as I remove from my wrist, it keeps locking itself. It's pretty understandable function, but still I wish to disable. When I'm home and the watch is on charger, there is no point of locking itself.
Only way is to disable SPay. Then you can remove the PIN. This is done to keep SPay secure if someone else were to pick up your watch.

Yes but what is the purpose of let's say: I remove it from my watch and immediately locks itself. Robbery?

It's an intentional limitation of Android's security store. The credit card details are saved encrypted on a secure piece of hardware and a password is an inherent limitation of activating the secured storage.
Yes, but what's the purpose of disabling the whole UI after removal? Example: I can't activate water lock after removal.
This system compared to Tizen feels way worse in many aspects.

Just upgraded to 5.0 via the ROM flash to keep root. I flashed the stock ROM, not deodexed.
Smart Lock is the main feature I need in 5.0. I have a Moto360 and want my phone unlocked when the watch is present by using it as a Trusted Device. Immediately after flashing, I set a lock pin so that Smart Lock was available. Everything was working as designed.
All of a sudden, I am having to enter my lock pin again. I go into Security settings and Trusted Devices and Smart Lock are both greyed out. How can I reenable?
No one?
Depending on the device, you may still be presented with your lock if that device ever got out of range. Happens to me all the time at work. I have my watch set up as a trusted device and leave my phone on my desk. When I get back, lock enabled. However once unlocked, if I stay within range it never re-enables.

Thanks for the reply. This is not the case. I can't get Smart Lock to work at all. Again, it worked right after I flashed the phone, now it doesn't work at all. Also, Smart Lock and Trusted Devices are both greyed out in the Security menu.
I have issues with inconsistent or I'd rather say "almost not working" Smart Lock. I have OC4 deodexed/rooted and set up lockscreen with fingerprint. Despite of trying to scan my fingertips several times with different angles and stuff it still works so-so for pointing fingers and kinda bad for one-handed use with a thumb! BUT I'd better keep device secured with it in case of lost or stolen phone with all my banking info and things like that will be available right away with a swipe! So the nice feature of trusted devices for smart lock works great and I don't need to worry either in my car (bluetooth handsfree set) or in a gym (NFC headphones). Even nicer feature with trusted places doesn't seem to work tho! I tried to downgrade maps, play services, remove/add nearby places like next 2-3 houses but nothing helped. And apparently gps connection/location detection doesn't work instantly like less than a second and that leads me to fingerprint scanner everytime... extremely annoying! Any known workaround or temp fix?
Not sure why, but it seems like every other time I turn my tablets screen on it wants my password to be typed in rather than fingerprint because of security policy. I never had this issue in 5.1.1
Anyone else noticing this or know of a way to fix?
It's set up to request pin after each reboot or 24 hours of inactivity. Do either of these apply to your situation?

It definitely does it each reboot. I never really go >24hours without touching it, but I'm sure it would ask for it then too. It asks for password after much less time than 24 hours to me, also seems to do it when I change locations (i.e. when I get home from work). It's become so frequent and annoying that I've set a basic, easily-hacked PIN rather than the lengthy, complex password I was using on 5.1.1. Also, even though I've set my car stereo as a smartlock trusted device, it frequently asks me for the PIN whenever I get in my car and start driving (I use tab for music/nav).
The fingerprint sensor on this tablet has never been anywhere near as good as on my nexus phone, often taking 2-3 tries for it to read it, but now that it won't even accept my print for unlocking the device 1/2 the time it's able to read it, it's to the point where I just dont even bother and just skip it and go to PIN entry instead
DAMN. Mine was working fine until I read your post. Now fingerprint recognition has gone wonky. Trying full wipe / reset to see if I can clear things up (maybe app / setting issue).
What I would like to have happen is have the clock go into night mode when: wirelessly charging, connected to a specific wifi network, and to start and end at specific times.
I've been messing around with this and can't figure it out for the life of me. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

where exactly are you stuck at?
Basically the whole thing... I created a profile called night mode to turn on and off at certain hours.
In the tasks tab, I've tried to set up the wifi network, but don't see a variable for specifying being connected to it, nor do I see anything for the battery charging wirelessly.
A couple you tube videos later and I'm scratching my head harder.

so for the Wi-Fi part:
- there is the state 'Wi-Fi connected' to activate when you are connected
- you can use 'test net' to store ssid to a variable, then check it for a match with certain ssid, with which you want the profile to react to - only do when connected to certain Wi-Fi.
I don't have wireless charge so I cannot say anything here, but if I remember correctly, recent update of Tasker has included detection of this, so too should bff able to sound something useful in those states or events.
Then finally, in the clock app, you can either try to use intent or simulate taps to switch it to night clock.
After that, hopefully you will be happy with the result
Thank you sir. I will give those a shot
Light dawns on marble head! I got it to work, 98% of what I envisioned.
Is there a way to make this work without having to wake the phone up first? A lot of times, I just place it on the charger.

what is your solution so far?
for connecting to Wi-Fi, sometimes it does not connect without screen on though, and I still have not figured that out.
Rather than try to explain it, these are my set ups.
Didn't seem to work as I wanted until I added the the, If lines to tasks 2and 3.
Still gotta unlock the phone to start the process though.

did you check to use root in the run shell commands?
Sadly I don't have a solution for the unlocking part.
I did use root. Had to add the if statement at the bottom for. Both tasks are the same aside from the input tap x y numbers
PS.. If I remove the pattern lock, it will work the way I want(ed) it to. Not worth it to do that IMO.

ah the pattern lock! now I see the pattern
do you have Xposed? maybe try to allow clock app over lock screen?
No exposed. Is it out for 7.1.1?

oh naah....
Seems to stop after the battery is charged... Gotta figure out how to latch the power till the end of the task.
Ever since the update to Oreo I've been constantly having this issue and it's extremely irritating and can't figure out how to stop it from happening. Basically at least once a day now, sometimes more than once it refuses to use the fingerprint scanner and wants me to enter my password or now my PIN since I switched to the less secure pin just to make it less of a pain everytime this happens and I just want it to go back to working properly so I can have the password again, does anyone know how to fix this issue? It's an unlocked note 8 and it's not rooted or anything, just a stock phone.
It's probably because you're phone has restarted and requires a pin after a restart before it'll use biometrics - It's a problem on Oreo, it's basically just a completely cr*p update that's broken so many things.
Samsung as usual, don't seem to give a stuff!
Nope, it's not a restart that's causing it, that's an entirely different message, especially since the phone's encrypted so the phone won't even start up on a reboot till the encryption password is entered. This is just a it randomly won't accept the fingerprint to unlock, I've turned the phone off then turned it right back on to unlock it and this has happened, 100% certain it had nothing to do with rebooting.
I've read some people saying they had an app that force locked the phone and that causes this and removing it fixed the problem, but I don't have any app that does that.
I have an unlocked note 8 too, I only use iris validation (finger print does not reliably work for me because of my eczema), the only time i have ever encountered this was when the phone went to lock screen while trying to access bio-metric validation (banking app, only ever happened once, i disabled fingerprint after due to unreliability relating to eczema as previously mentioned)
Maybe not the same issue but fingerprint unlock never works for me reliably. I get that message when my fingerprint can't be recognized. I have working hands so often my fingers get knicked, scratched, etc or even just wet causing my fingerprint not register. If I reregister fingerprint with out a perfect fingerprint, after my fingers heal, can't be recognized again. Happened on my Note 5 as well so I stopped using fingerprint to unlock.
Don't think that's the issue for me, I never have any issues with the fingerprint reader normally, it always works great when it actually lets me use it.
Anybody else having this problem.
I even disabled Samsung Pay and Edge to see if it would help but nothing seems to help.
The basic issue is that I want my phone to be locked but not when its at home.
So I setup the location for home and said do not lock when in this area.
That did not work. It still wants to do a biometric scan even when I am at home.
So yesterday I got my near Gear Watch and finally thought here is a solution as long as the phone and watch are in bluetooth range do not lock my phone.
It still continues to lock.
I could be doing something stupid or wrong here but for the life of me cant figure it out.
XDA is my last stop looking for help.
Same thing happened to me it was because I had multiple accounts. You need to set the Smart Lock on all the accounts.

I have a Note 9 and Gear S3 Smartwatch.
I have it enabled in Smart Lock options
(together with a few other options eg
my Polar M400 watch, car radio, Bluetooth headset
and location etc)
I have lockscreen set to Fingerprint unlock /pin
All my options in Smart lock works
100 %, no issues except locations.
(i really don't need , but did so
to enable locations, anyway )
I also noticed other members have issues with Smart lock /Location to work.
Smart lock works so well that i sometimes
nearly forget that i have lockscreen enabled!
So what I'm saying is that Smart lock
should work flawlessly with your Gear Watch?
if you enabled it in Device /Setting /
See screenshots.
I never had success with, location service, the smart lock in the settings but no issue with it in Samsung's good lock 2018-routines-safelock.
Thanks for confirming GPS based unlock does not work.
Where you screen shot shows Password and Fingerprint mine shows.
Pin, Intelligent Scan, Fingerprint. Maybe i need to turn off Intelligent scan.
