Hello, I installed CyanogenMod 5.0 lastnight and the market and a few other applications are not there, im guessing that is the google addon can anyone tell me in detail how to install that? Thanks
You need to flash to ER27 Google add on pack here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623496
Current link: http://www.mediafire.com/file/jmmzywtlnjd/gapps-passion-ERE27-2-signed.zip
thanks...How do i flash it?
I would like to know also. I've gone into recovery and added the file to the SD card than tried to run it, only to tell it me it's not a zip. So I renamed it and also tried compressing it as zip(just to make sure) and I get an error.
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
Download the add on from that page listed, place it on the root of your sdcard, reboot into recovery, flash it in recovery (the same way you flashed the ROM, but do not wipe), then reboot your phone.
That is exactly what I did. I sent a pm w/ more details. I tried covering all grounds just to make sure if one failed the other one would'nt.
Edit: Should USB debugging be on/off? Don't know if that makes a difference
Edit: Figured it out. Everytime i would downlad the file on my mac it would not be a .zip file so renaming it and compressing it did nothing. I downloaded it on my pc and voila, it works fine..weird...

This is because you enable auto open files in Safari. The actual zip file is in your Trash lol.
To disable it (and u should), open Preferences > General > Uncheck Open "safe" file after downloading

You managed to root your phone, install a custom recovery, flash cm6.1, but you can't find the Google apps? REALLY????
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?/files/category/2-nexus-one/
How to install the Google Addon?
You have to change the name of the file (ex: "gapps-mdpi-20101020-signed.zip") to "update.zip". Move it to your SDcard and then install from recovery.

You don't need to be in "Debuggin mode", neither to rename to "update.zip".. Just use ROM manager provided by cyanogenmod and go wiki :

Hope it will help you!

Hello Dacid1171,
I installed Cyanogenmod 7.0.0, with no google apps of course.
I used gapps-gb-20110307-signed pack, went to recovery and chose "Install from SD card", just like I would if I was flashing new ROM.
After that the phone wouldn't book. Logo of cyanogenmod would appear with the circular arrow moving around it, after 3 round it stops and restarts all over.
It was kept that way for a very long time hoping that the phone will come to life. It wouldn't.
What did I do wrong?

Try flashing it again but this time clear cache and dalvik cache.
Flash cm7 rom again follow by the gapps than reboot.
Hi,
I have just rooted my phone and Indigo Bean is first ROM I have flashed. I have to say I am really impressed with the speed of the device and the it also looks cool to boot. So big up, thanks for all your hard work.
One thing I cant get my head around though is that there is no 'market' app available? I also tried Azure, which loaded ok and worked a treat but there was also no 'market' app available. Am I missing something? I read something about flashing google apps but cant find anything specific to the HTC Legend.
Thanks guys..
You need to install Google Apps. Download the zip gapps-hdpi-FRF91-2-signed.zip (search the forums). flash the rom, then without wiping flash again with this zip.
Ok, sorry, but I'm not that technical tbh. Have you a link to working instructions etc.
From what I can gather, you are asking me to download that zip file. Then save it the root directory of my SD card. Then reboot into recovery mode and select flash from SD card. then I select the .zip file from the menu and reboot?
Sorry for the noobness, still getting my head around all of this.
If you would read the threads about those two roms you would learn that you need to flash two different files. First the Rom and then the file containing Google apps.

the file can be downloaded here: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=gapps-hdpi-FRF91-2-signed.zip (just google it!)
And yes, flash your rom, enter recovery again (using rom manager), flash zip from sd card, choose the google apps zip (the one you googled above) and flash. Not that difficult!
Hello,
i have GOT 2.2, and now i want to install teh latest Cyanogenmod.
However i dont know were to include "update-0.04-10.12.08-cm-6.1.0-Milestone-signed.zip".
In my sd card i have 2 folders:
OpenRecovery
OpenRecovery-CFG
Should i put somewhere inthere the files downloaded?
Or should i delete them, and download another Open Recovery?
Thank you so much for the help!
here => Openrecovery\updates
Then in the OR you have to choose the option apply update.zip
/Edit: did u flash the 2.2.1 kernel first or is this already included in this zip?
kernel is included in the zip
(i update to CM6 from 2.1)
but you can flash 2.2.1 got if you want (i don't know why you should do this, but you can ^^)
When you say flash you mean sbf? Yes I used sbf and then used the update zip and GOT open recovery.
Thus now I should not delete any folder and just copy the new zip file in updates? There are some other files in there, should I delete them?
And then just apply the update zip through the known way when stating phone? And will see there the updates and choose cynam.

Anyone please?
As i got really confused!
If i just delete the whole two folders and start from scratch would it be ok?
Or does the system need the Open Recovery Folders?
you can put the zip file into the folder"/OpenRecovery/updates"
then reboot your phone to recovery, choose "update.zip"
after that you can choose "update",find "update-0.04-10.12.08-cm-6.1.0-Milestone-signed.zip"
apply,then reboot.over
OK thanks when i apply the update this comes up:
Reboot System
Console
--- Stock Features---
Nandroid
Root Phone
---GOT Modding Menu---
Launch 2,1 Menu
Launch 2.2.1 Menu
Launch CM6 menu
---- Stock GOT Features Menu---
Miscellaneous
USB Mas Storage mode
Settings Menu
Wipe & Cleaning Menu
Open Recovery loader
ok found it it was in another menu!
So i suppose the same would happen for other ROMs as well?
For example MIUI?
MIUI is the same, but not every rom.
you should watch the notice carefully
and before and after your updating,
wipe is very important.
or mabe you can't pass the M picture
Well, with this Rom, I can't connect to google services.
Gmail is not in my applications and also I can't install it... market cannot load... when I press add account, it just goes to desktop...
Any ideas about what shall I do? Now I have nil contacts...

I've looked and I couldn't find a direct solution, so I'm going to give birth to this thread.
Problem: I want (and have problems downloading) the OTA Ice Cream Sandwich update on my rooted Verizon Motorola Droid 4
I rooted my phone awhile back. Just today I received a message that the system update was available.
-I am able to download the update.
-I am able to begin installing the update.
-During the installation process, the yellow progress indication bar fills about 1/8 of the way, then I get the ! warning sign above the little android figure.
Here's what I've done so far to try and correct this problem:
-Restarted my phone
-Restarted my computer
-Downloaded and installed the latest Motorola drivers from the official Motorola website.
-I attempted* to un-root my phone using the Droid 4 Utility 0.4.
--I should note that in the log, there was a like that read:
rm failed for /data/app/com.noshufou.android.su-1.apk, No such file or directory

-Restarted my phone again
-Tried installing the update with still no luck
*It appears that all the Droid 4 Utility did was remove Superuser, though I could be wrong. However, if this is the case, I still have a rooted device.
Once again, I'd prefer to have the OTA update, and not a leaked/rooted version of ICS. There's a possibility I didn't unroot my phone all the way. Am I doing this right?
Thanks in advance for the help.
ICS hasn't been officially released for the D4 yet.
This morning when I woke up I received an "Update available" notification. I am able to download an update for my phone. After downloading the update, I receive another notification:
"Install update
Update (6.13.219.en.US) has been downloaded and is ready to install.
Installation will take up to 10 minutes. Upon completion the phone will power off than back on.."
So it absolutely did not occur to you that this is the "219" update which can be found in this (General) section as well as in the Android development section .
Please do take a look in the topics mentioning "update" or "219". You will find topics for rooted and stock phones regarding the 219 update and how to proceed.

Thanks for your help. I'm slightly inexperienced. I was so excited when I saw the system update that I suspected it to be ICS. Albeit, my hunt continues.
it failed because u altered system files of some kind... its happening to me too. i downloaded the stock system app zip from here in hopes to replace the system apk's so the update will go through but i dont know how to replace the system files... is it as simple as copy and paste, do u have to copy it to the sd card then use a file explorer to copy and overwrite over the files? i dont want to mess something up
I did modify the build file in root/system in order to install a certain APP from the Google Play Store, but I made sure I went and reversed all of the changes I made. Could you please post where you got this file from?

but how do u copy those files from NOTE 2? i downloaded the file, extracted the files but i cant copy them to the system folder
copy them to your phone via usb, make sure you are rooted, and CAREFULLY COPY them using a root explorer. You can get a good one from AntTek for free on the Play Store.
I tried that.. copied the files to the sd card. I can see them when i browse the sd card via the computer but when i unplug the cord they arent there anymore. Would replacing the stock boot animation via rom manager have anything to do with the fail?
Sent from my DROID4 using XDA
remember that the "sd card" the computer sees is the phone's internal storage. your actual sd card, as the computer sees it, is referred to by the phone as "sd-ext" or "external sd card" usually.
I did the samething, I changed two files and got help from this forum to get the originals. I use es file explorer in root and copied the files to where they need to be. I checked the permissions and rebulit the checksum for each file. After that I used voodoo to save my root. I rebooted instal from sdcard and it worked. hope this helps.
well it wasnt an app that i deleted.. i was reading somewhere about the build.prop file being messed up from using rom manager so i downloaded a new copy and pasted it over the old one and the update went through! thanks everyone!

I tried doing this, but it didn't work. Could you post the build.prop file that you used?
EDIT:
I was copying my build.prop file incorrectly. More details here.
Hi
First post here, I'm new to Android and rooting but I know my way around computer systems in general so hoping you guys can help me, haven't seen a thread about this exact problem so far.
I've semi-bricked (bootlooped) my Samsung Galaxy Ace running Gingerbread, having rooted it last month using the upd_1 package and enjoying a bloatware-free phone, happily installing apps onto my second partition on my SD card. I've not changed my ROM, just the stock is good enough for me for now. However I was getting continually prompted by Homescreen Selector nags at powering up for some reason and I thought I could disable it by applying Freeze using LInk2SD, but since doing that I continually get the Samsung logo, the orange "explosion" (I'm with Orange) then a vibration and the whole cycle repeats. My guess is the operating system can't find the selector.apk app since I froze it.
I thought the solution would be simple - use adb shell to rename back from selector.fro to selector.apk. However I'm unable to find any such file in my system/app folder. There are a load of other apk and odex files but not that one. When I type su I get "permission denied", though I definitely rooted my phone but I don't think I have my bootloader unlocked.
I don't have CWM installed or any backups unfortunately (yes, I know...), so even if I took one now prior to a factory reset, surely the same problem would come back if I were to restore from any backup I were to take now. I can get into Recovery and Download screens ok but don't want to restore the whole ROM unless I have to, since I know it's only one APK that is at fault.
So, please can anyone tell me how to locate the selector.fro file to turn it back to selector.apk? Or can't I do that without unlocking the bootloader first, or is there another solution?
Many thanks in advance,
Graham
Wouldnt it be possible to make a zip of the selector.apk and flash it? Rename the zip-file to "update" (since you're unable to browse to your specific file).

Hi, thanks for the response
Do you mean copy a zip of selector.apk to the SD card and run it from there, same as I did when I rooted? Where can I obtain a copy of that apk from? I can't find it on my computer or via Google...

You can extract it from the ROM's zip file, just locate it as you would on your phone.
But I don't have a ROM zip file. I'm not using a custom ROM, just stock. I may go down the custom ROM route one day, but for now I just want my phone to work again in the quickest way possible.
All I need is a copy of the original stock home selector APK. Can anyone help here please?
Found the file!
Never mind, got the apk from another thread. Flashing tonight...
