Hi friends,
As we all know, sammy devices comes with lots of junks and bloats which hardly we use.
So, i was looking for a thread where i could find a way to debloat/remove excess system files from J7/6 but i was quite depressed when i found no link for my device. Although some nice techies have posted zip from other sources, i mean some debloater zips are directly posted here from s6 groups. And as we know that not all devices have same bloats or junks or having different names of same bloats.
That's why i tried to do some changes on a zip made by @TENN3R (Originally made by @ambasadii . Thanks both of you man) and finally come here with this work. Hope you'll love it.
Before flashing this zip, my device system part was showing 118mb space. After flashing zip modded by me, i got whopping 1.19gb free space in system.
All i can say is, your device system will have a great amount of space to breath which will surely show you result in battery life + performance (as per my experience I'm getting +15/20% battery life and performance is superb)
So, let's come to the point. There's attached zip, download it & move it to device internal storage/sdcard/usbotg. Reboot to recovery (your device must be rooted with TWRP recovery preinstalled). Flash this zip and wipe dalvik/cache. Reboot to system and you'll see that almost all junks is removed.
To know which apps it removes and if you want to keep some system apps, open zip, copy updater script on your pc, open updater script with notepad++, check all apps names one (takes hardly few minutes) and if you want to keep any app in system and don't want to remove it, just remove that whole line. For example, if you want to keep "GoogleContactsSyncAdapter", remove line contains that app name ? runs ("/sbin/rm", "-rf", "system/app/GoogleContactsSyncAdapter"); ? including semicolon same as shown here.
I suggest you to take backup of all apps (system/app & system/priv-app) so in case you want to restore any app, you can do it. It will remove some unwanted junk apps from csc folder also, (Yes it will remove bike mode too)
I have tested this zip few times on my device (SM-J710GN) and on one another device (SM-J710FN) and there's no any fc or issues. So i think it's worth trying.
But as we all say here, I'm not responsible if your device get bootloops, your wife hits you or your dog bites you for some reasons.
Do not forget to hit thanks button. :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

Good work bro
i did not succeeded with installation of this zip. TWRP just said that it failed.
Good work! I must try it out.
Excellent! Works like a charm! Thank you a lot. I've done a video guide (sub Eng). Hope this can be helpful.

Here is the original zip file attached.
You should edit the script according to your needs before flash.
Because it also remove sbrowser, nfcui, sbike etc. etc.

Lost Network
I lost my sim networks, both Sim 1 and Sim 2 after flashing the zip file. Bad part is, I didn't make a back up before doing the process.
Can't not open ' Setting '
I know this thread was old thread, but I'm just want to asking why my J7 2016 can't open setting after i flash the debloater?
Hello
There are some system apps I won't ever use, so it would make sense to not even install them.
Is it possible to debloat a MIUI ROM (for example the official chinese dev ROM) by editing the content of the zip file prior flashing?
Is there a "safe list" with apps that can be removed without causing instabilities?

Just install xiaomi.eu rom. Basically it's a debloated chinese rom with european languages added.
Can anyone tell me how can i run Google Apps in my mi5 chaina dev Android 7 based rom. I can't flash gapps. In twrp it's asking device decrypt password. Any other way to flash gapps or some other way?

I'm attaching my personal miui debloater, it is recovery flashable. look the updater-script file for details of what i normally remove, it is pretty self-explanatory I'll maybe improve/increase list of removed apps later on, but it is already a good start..
if you need gapps, be sure to comment out rows 23-24 and most of the rows from 55 up before flashing.
for best effect, flash this upon clean flash, immediately after flashing miui rom zip
cheers

I found your script very interesting, I wanted to do something like that... the commented lines are apps that become a problem if you uninstall them? For example /system/app/VoicePrintService, /system/data-app/Music lines are disabled.
In any case thanks for the file it is a good start.
at a certain point i got the phone not booting anymore because of too aggressive debloat, so yes i restored some apps i thought could be related to get rid of bootloop and didn't have time to determine exactly which one was the culprit..
but music no, you can remove it if you want, but i liked it so i preferred to keep it

Thanks, any update version of yours. Personally, I do also remove several things and some even make some function not working (e.g. scrolling screen capture not working anymore). Not sure which one make it fail, though. Too many aggressive debloat.
Hello people it's just to report and see if any of you have faced a skmilar problem and how To solve it.
The main problem is that all files pdfs, jpgs or any other that are sent to me via WhatsApp it's impossible to open with any app. All apps say the file is corrupted or something like that. The same happens with Edison Mail (app) I use it to have all my mails synced, but the same happens all mails that contain attached files are imposible to open the external apps to open pdf or image files say it's impossible or file corrupted.
Nevertheless, and the main thing is that those files are NOT CORRUPTED whatsoever, if I look for the files on the internal storage and open them with any of the apps that said that the same files were corrupted, the files open without any problem.
I was going to reinstall WhatsApp, but in the end I didn't because it's really time consuming to make a backup and because I realized it was happening with other apps (probably with others I haven't come across).
I have checked permissions, disabled /enabled them but with no luck.
Any thoughts or similar experiences? Any workaround?

This problem isnt occuring for me. It opens for me fine. Maybe it could be an issue with the pdf reader?
What do you mean when you say, it is impossible to open pdfs in external apps?
Im assuming you have tried different pdf apps as well? Try opening the file from the pdf app itself, as in navigating to the file from inside the pdf app, rather than opening it directly in whatsapp.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.
If I open the files directly from the pdf reader (I've used several, acrobat, xodo, drive, onedrive, etc) or opening the files from a file explorer (solid explorer, xiaomi file explorer) they open, they are not corrupted.
The problem is when I tap on the attached file on the whatsapp chat or on the edison mail (app) The prompt to select an app to open the file shows up but no matter which one I select it will FC or say the file is unreadable or corruupted (depending the app). That is why I believed the problem was regarding some permissions in whatsapp or edison mail, but I've enabled and disabled them with no avail.
If you google this problem, hilariously you can find a very similar one on an Adobe forum but of course there's no solution because the adobe won't provide a solution that is not directly caused by their apps. The only good comment there is that apparently it's an andorid 11 problem on MIUI devices.
Some mention to disable MIUI optimizations, which I've already tried enabling and disabling because I usually have them disabled.

Yes, it certainly seems like an miui problem or the A11 problem. Okay, do one thing, try opening the pdf file via chrome browser, or any other app, maybe gmail app.
Also, before you do that, download matlog to log what happens, maybe we can try pin pointing the issue.
If its just an app thing, then maybe reinstalling should fix it. But i doubt it is. And the only real possibility seems like reinstalling the rom.
Heres a suggestion, since we dont have twrp yet.
Download the latest full rom, a few issues happened to me earlier, when i installed miui in one of the incremental updates.
So, what i did was, downloaded the entire recovery rom (not fastboot) and just updated the system via system update by locally installing it.
Just google how to local upgrade on miui if you're not clear about it. As i wasn't since this is my first miui phone.
This would essentially dirty flash a stock rom, and should iron out any issues without having to reset the phone.
Is your MIUI optimisation option disabled in the developers options? If so, try enabling it and try to open the files again.

Here are the logs. Actually by doing so, I discovered that also sharing a zip file from the matlog to any app to upload or share it (whatsapp, gdrive, onedrive, etc.) also resulted in an similar error (this part is not included on the logs).
The logs include trying to open one file in two different apps. Gdrive pdf reader and Xodo.

Actually I hadn't tried that, Just did and leaving MIUI Optimizations enabled makes the problem disappear, in fact, the promt to select the app to open the file is different.
But what if I want to leave MIUI Optimizations disabled?

I don't think there's a solution for this. I think the best workaround for this problem would be switching to Xiaomi.eu rom (since they have MIUI optimisiation disabled by default) but it's still not released yet.
I could be wrong though.

Im assuming the miui has its own code for the app selector and the underlying android 11 app selector code is disabled. Probably to speed up the process of switching apps. Maybe if there is a way if you can enable the original android 11 code for it then you could disable the miui optimization setting. But then, if this is just for the app selector, there could be other underlying issues, that you might have not have experienced yet where miui uses its own implementation and has disabled the original android implementation. I wouldnt recommend that unless you decide to switch roms to the EU version for this specific issue like @brzi6 mentioned but i think theres no point as it could cause other location based hassles.
Firstly, miui optimization is garbage anyway.
Secondly, the problem is with app permissions. If you can get your pdf viewer of choice to have access to your file system then all will be well.
Hello guys

Well I currently am facing this problem on an unrooted stock ROM. [MIUI Global 13.0.1 Stable]
So i doubt if this is a ROM problem. And if it is, it exists in the stock ROM too.

Well there aren't much details to be provided. Was just moving some images from the WhatsApp data in Android folder onto my laptop to free up space. The sizes of all of the pictures were < 5 mb. Was moving 2-3 at once and took 30 seconds.
Also I was deleting some audio folders of WhatsApp too which took ~30s to delete a folder with just 1 audio file, and this happened multiple times.
Not sure if the problem is with my mobile or my laptop, but is definitely a lot lot slower than expected.

well that another thing and here we can't be sure who or which to blame maybe usb port maybe data cable not necessary the mobile itself
my problem was when copying or mpving from here to there in the internal storage itself
or when deleting also
while the most annoying thing i forgot.to mention earlier is opening a folder with much files inside like 100 image pr tens of apks it tooks a lot of time to open the folder and i have to wait some seconds with the rotating loading icon which is really frustrating

I have lost all sensor calibration files and reg files for all sensors, screen, sound, rotate, brightness ect.
Can someone with a 4xl and a root explorer please go to /mnt/vendor/persist .
Please archive the directory in .tar or zip, twrp backup.
There have been a few requests on the 4XL forum for the files or for persist.img if you're able to /dd it.
I cannot find them for the Pixel 4XL anywhere.
I know which files to skip when replacing and have a backup, I take full responsibility.
Attach the file to a reply it's small enough when archived.
You would be helping me and others out, judging from search.
Thanks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: FIX
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To clear up any confusion the symptoms are all sensors stop working not one or two.
The IMEI is not lost or changed with this method nor any MAC addresses on the "Google Pixel 4 XL".
I managed to fix all sensors failed with another users persist backup from a .zip file.
You should check the attachment file verses your current Persist, if you have all the files excluding the duplicate data folders don't even bother Instead start at the factory image install, relock boot loader stage.
Check it's not a software problem before doing this.
Get sensor toolbox.apk and check there is no data output from the sensors first.
If you are going to try this before you start back up all the files in /mnt/vendor/persist to a .tar file.
There is a camera certificate in camera directory that is unique to your camera module if you lose that you cannot use face unlock ever again. Same if you replace the hardware.
I had to manually restore all permissions because they were not in .tar format I've attached the fixed persist.tar.
I performed all operations from lineage 19.1 with magisk 25.1 full root and used mixplorer.apk root enabled.
Some steps may not be necessary.
Copy the files you need across from a root browser, if any duplicate files & folders are in there don't replace them merge and skip duplicate files instead.
There is a folder in the data directory named something like (DdHdVQd1FIOARksZgXG27GJ1A5UjYCGhP-ZoGvseqsY_)
I copied all files in each folder to all the others, so every folder had the same number of files in. (if they already exist then skip them.)
Install a stock factory image it should be a version below the latest OTA so A12 factory image- to A13 OTA. (I used A12 -coral-sq3a.220605.009.a1)
I then relocked the boot loader, disabled OEM unlocking, added an account to the phone on the phone setup dialogue and added a pin.
I let it update the apps made sure it was listed as my device in security settings and checked safety net all pass.
Tried face unlock(failed), started wallet setup then stopped at add card.
Rebooted a few times in between app updates then allowed the OTA to A13 install. (it was slow to finish install)
Then on first reboot it got into OS and said finishing setup let it finish then rebooted again and BishBashBosh all sensors functional.
It's might be titan security chip anti tamper or qualcomm chain of trust?
If you want to understand how this can be triggered with all files still intact and why replacing them won't instantly work check NPJOHNSON's excellent article.

Thank you so much.
As for your concerns, official updates have broken sensors before and users have shared these files with no consequences to the author.
See this thread as an example.

EDIT 5 In addition to the two methods highlighted below, I'm sharing a third method which was brought up in the thread. This one is much easier, however, root is required. This method works for many, however, it is not confirmed by me. Again, no...

There is a camera certificate in camera directory that is is unique to your camera module if you lose that you cannot use face unlock ever again. Same if you replace the hardware.
I had to manually restore all permissions because they were not in .tar format I've attached the fixed persist.tar.

Thanks.

I performed all operations from lineage 19.1 with magisk 25.1 full root and used mixplorer.apk root enabled.
