Hi folks,
I'm currently on Android 9 Stock on my Note 9 Exynos.
My phone is ready to update to Android 10. However, I wanted to take the chance and finally root my Note using TWRP and Magisk.
But since I'm using a Galaxy Watch to count my steps and Secure Folder is important to me too, I have a few questions.
Please reply even if you can answer only one question. Thanks.
If opening my bootloader and flashing TWRP, KNOX will be tripped. Can this be bypassed by a specific Samsung ROM, Kernel oder Magisk module in general?
Can my Samsung Galaxy Watch still be paired with my phone after flashing TWRP and Magisk? (this question excludes S-Health related things but includes the pairing in general + notifications on the watch)
If the answer to 1. is no, how can I still use S-Health? Is this still working and is it the only way?
If the answer to 1. is no, how can I still use Secure folder? Smali Patcher seems to list Secure Folder usage as one of their features so I guess this is my (only) way to go?
Is it better to proceed with the official update to Android 10 and do all the flashing/rooting afterwards or to flash TWRP now and directly flash a good Samsung Android 10 rom from this forum?
Even if the answer to 1. is no, are there still any Samsung roms (I want/need most Samsung features including S-Pen so I won't flash LineAge) and/or Kernels that you can highly recommend?

1. No
2. Yes. Even samsungpay works but from the watch only in android 9. Not sure 10.
3. Samsung health work. Not sure what was the workaround but it is ready baked in the rom
4. Secure folder work. Not sure what was the workaround but it is ready baked in the rom
5. No difference in rooting between 9 & 10. But you need android10 bootloader to boot up android 10 rom. So if you root at Pie, need to flash bootloader seperately.
6. All oneui custom roms have working spen. Not knox related. I don't know about kernel. I'm just using the one with the rom. You will have to search which is the best for your phone and usage.
Hi everyone,
Can I make magisk root for S20 FE 256GB with SnapDragon? The model should be the sabe of 128gb, SM-G780G/DS.
I didn't found any TWRP for this model.
Can you help us to make a root or a TWRP?
If you have United States version you have to unlock bootloader 1st before rooting. Then you can install Twrp and flash Magisk.
But I cannot found the TWRP for this model, do you have anyone?
the size of the internal memory shouldn't make this phone incompatible with the anafeh92 snapdragon TWRP in roms kernels and recoveries forum.

Now I want to hide the warning messages when I turn on the phone,
As I understand it you just need to replace the image file with a black one to hide the message. I have yet to get around to doing this as I dont reboot the phone that much.

Yes, I saw a image for FE Exnos, but I can't backup my original file, because the location is diferent
get a decent root file manager/explorer and add a few letters to the end of the name of the original file and leave it where it is.
Just spent the day rooting my phone that came stock with Android 11, scouring the web for that illusive "beta" version that's not linked in the first post.
You need the file named: "twrp-3.5.2_10-4_afaneh92-R-r8q.tar" and flash that to not end up softbricking your device, requiring to download frida, flashing stock again, rooting again, etc.
For anyone like me with a Galaxy S20 SE SM-G780G/DS
USE THIS! NOT the 10.2!
Is there any well documented way to root SM-G781B/DS variant?

it would be better if you linked to the thread as there's critical info users would need to know to avoid a screwed up phone.

look in the kernels recoveries and roms forum, the instructions for flashing TWRP will work fine on the SM-G780G. just flash magisk via TWRP at the end of the other steps.
Any idea how to Root S20 FE 5G snapdragon please??? Unable to install TWRP through Download Mode.

either patch the AP archive ala topjohnwu's instructions for magisk v22+ or flash TWRP via afaneh92's instructions in his TWRP thread.

For the first time, I tried to install Magisk using its standard method. So I went to https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html
In the first parts, I came across this sentence and was a little confused:
"If you are using a Samsung device that is launched with Android 9.0 or higher, you can now jump to its own section."
My device is Samsung Galaxy J7 Core (J701F) with its latest update, namely Android 9. But this device was released with Android 7.
Which way should I proceed now? And if I continue the first method, the device data will be deleted?

the quick answer is yes it can.
basic summary of the process
activate developer options and toggle OEM unlocking
boot into download mode (might need to plug the phone into a PC not sure) and follow the prompts at the bottom of the screen to complete the unlock.
this WIPES YOUR PHONE COMPLETELY!! back up any files or photos elsewhere.
download the magisk app
download your current firmware or a whole newer update.
copy the AP archive from the firmware to your phone... 6GBs ish
open the magisk app and select to patch a file
patch your AP archive and then copy the newer patched version back to your PC
flash the patched AP along with BL CP and CSC (just to be in not mixing firmware files together).
boot phone and open the magisk app and follow it's prompts to complete the process and that's it.
we have telegram groups for the FE where guys will help you and I'll share a video someone made on rooting the Exynos FE... it might differ from what I've just described if it goes on mention flashing twrp (you can skip that if you want).

On that day, the newest magisk version was 25.0, I followed all the steps in the above thread but the device was still bricked (boot loop).
I searched the error log and figured out that this was due to something called "avb flag":
Samsung system init check fstab avb flag cause boot loop · Issue #6141 · topjohnwu/Magisk
Device: Samsung Tab S7 Plus (T976B) Android version: 12 Magisk version name: 25.2 Magisk version code: 25201 For some reason, samsung decided to make their /system/bin/init check for avb flags in f...
github.com
Since I don't have much time on this, I simply did a factory reset and kept using the tab without root.
I am actually not sure whether the "avb flag" is the root cause. The only thing I am sure of is using magisk 25.0 and s8ultra android 13 ROM leads to a boot loop.
Today, I found that magisk is now updated to 25.3, and nobody here mentioned the boot loop.
So, I want to know whether magisk 25.3 is working well with the newest ROM. If it works OK, I will give it another try.
I have a Tab S8 Ultra which was on Android 12 / OneUI 4.1 rooted / Magisk. I just finished updating it to Android 13 (image SM-X906B_2_20221208191241_81t9w4gald_fac) without any dramas. I did a factory reset before flashing the patched AP, not sure if that helped avoid any potential bricks or you were just unlucky.
I'm only on Magisk 25.2 though - I don't see the 25.3 that you mention anywhere. So make sure you're downloading from topjohnwu's GitHub page, not some other sketchy place. That might be a factor.

Well, I think “25.3” is a typo. I always download the magisk APK from github. I also tried a factory reset.
May the issue is already fixed in a way. I'll try it again some time.
