New ZUK Z2 Pro user needs help?

Hi, i have just bought a Z2 Pro and i have a few questions on what's the best setup i can do with it and put onto it. I think i have the international ROM on the device as it came with Google Play store and it has plenty of languages to choose from.
In Settings/About it states it has Android 6.0.1 and ZUI Version 2.3.044 ST on it.
I cannot for the life of me find how to check if there is an update for the ZUI on the phone so i am wondering how i can go about updating the firmware without voiding any warranty. I have limited experience in rooting phones and i would like to see if i can live with the latest ZUI version before delving into custom ROM'S to be honest.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to upgrade the official international firmware for the ZUK Z2 Pro?

it seems you've an unofficial vendor ROM
so you need to unlock bootloader and then flash with QFIL tool proper stock ROM or custom ROM (GizRom Nougat 7.x).

Thank you for clearing it up for me. I will look into bootloaders and flashing a ROM version onto it to get a more up to date version of android.

this guide you linked is a mess and badly written and @stu1690 will surely get stuck and brick maybe

@stu1690 i would advise you to double/triple read these guides and most of the user comments after the OP too...you will often find solutions and posted fixes from people who have got the guide wrong and stuff,let me know if you want to link over at china-devices when you are ready and i will do my best to help you out mate

I managed to update to the latest ZUI but if i am honest it's not to my liking as half of the apps and writing is in Chinese so it's got to go.
I am now looking at how to put a custom Nougat ROM on that doesn't have many problems on the Z2 PRO. I believe i will have to figure out how to root the phone and possibly unlock the bootloader before flashing.
Are there any guides in how to flash a custom ROM on this site and what would be considered the best ROM to use?

I followed this guide which worked fine for unlocking the bootloader and rooting : https://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z2-pro/how-to/howto-install-mokee-7-1-1-unofficial-t3582686
Except instead of flashing Mokee, I recommend flashing this version of AICP : https://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z2-pro/development/rom-aicp-12-1-n-zuk-z2-pro-t3596836 . It's not officially supported by AICP but it's the only one I found where everything works perfectly, including customizing the U-touch gestures, and it comes with Magisk to manage root which is nice I think. Just don't forget to deactivate the 3 Chinese apps that are bundled with the ROM.

Phone came with fake A1 ROM (tissot), unlocked bootloader
It was not receiving any OTA updates, so I tried to manually update it to official Mi A1 fastboot rom
Phone got bricked
I flashed (Tiffany) 5X official fastboot ROM rom from EDL (hard boot to edl by two point short method) - flashed both Stable and Developer version
Both ROMs do not boot into system, bootloops on mi logo, I can get to fastboot and mi's default chinese language recovery
The bootloader is locked - can't unlock it from system or fastboot with Xiaomi's unlock tool (it needs me to link the phone with my account through MIUI settings, which I cannot get to because it does not boot into system in the first place)
I have heard I can also flash the (Oxygen) (a fake Mi 5X) ROM on it, but it is dangerous because it may hard brick the device forever, not even EDL flash can revive it.
So I'm stuck, wtf, what do I do?

Sorry I cant help you there, where the hell did you purchase this from though and how much did you pay for it? I'm just curious

Streets. I have check the IMEI and serial number online. It is obviously a Mi5X. They just installed some weird MiA1 port and flashed it over it. Also went far as printing that A1 label on that back. lol

Hey, thanks for the link. I tried that a week ago. It gives me bootloop on mi logo. And it locks the bootloader as well. Also I have to flash it from EDL mode (by opening up the cover and using the two point short method to boot to EDL mode), from fastboot mode it cannot flash the modem.

is there a solution for this problem ? have you fixed your device mr udaan?

I have exactly the same problem and I still can't figure it out. I have also done exactly what you have already done but the same bootloop on mi logo. The last thing to try is to flash it with the oxygen 5x rom but I am a bit afraid.

currently if we want flash Magisk we have to do a factory reset, if I use this software for flash Magisk, I need to do a reset?

What about willow? I know the only change is NFC, but I can't really find stock for it.

IMPOSIBBLE to unlock bootloader

hi there, i want to unlock the bootloader but every mi unlock tool i try always give me an error. I tried mi unlock it give an error says "couldn't unlock can't get info, connect again". and i tried to use XiaoMiTool it says "remote: 'Token Verify Failed, Reboot the device'". and i tried old version of mi unlock it's not show unlock button instead it shows kind of my mi account page thing.
any help appreciated, thanks

@Layer BRo hi bro. I have these problems to. I spend whole last evening to debug and find combination of needed drivers and versions of mi unlock, xiaomitool or mi flash tool. None of my attempts wasn't successful and I have error messages exactly the same with you. I have an idea that something was changed in xiaomi unlock process at the xiaomi sides and maybe this little old device doesn't know about failed token. But this is just an idea. I don't have any proofs, sorry. And I am also looking what could gone wrong but still with no success.

Repo not working

Hi, I had the same issue. I used Mi Unlock tool version 5.5.1224.27 and it unlocked

I am having same issues but today phone says in chinese its locked via find my phone to another account, i brought phone via a reseller on aliexpress. Have contacted them, but might be a lost cause. Anyone know of a way round this issue ??, ( i found another mention of same issue with another phone that didn´t seem solved,)

I have flashed a wrong region rom with Mi Flash Tool and locked the bootloader. Now bootloader is locked with phone not accepting the firmware and it is struck in Fastboot mod. I have tried several methods even from YT but it didn't worked for me. I don't know what to do with my phone and I don't care abt any of the data installed in my phone I just want my phone back to life. Can U guide me with this method How to Unlock the bootloader so that I may flash my phone with Stock Rom ?

There may be no specific guide on how to fix your device but you can use reference of other MTK phones on how to do that.
If you don't find anything online then I will help you flash your device.

It is recommended to try the MTK Auth Bypass Tool. I am not sure whether the third-party link provided by XDA is compliant, so I will not provide it. It should be easy to search for Google. The latest version is 106. It seems to support unlocking the bootloader lock of note12pro. Haven't tried it, let me know if you succeed

The tool breaks the phone Software.
It doesn't seems to work.

After spending a lot of time on web, YT vids and forum I solved the issue with my phone.

In what way was it resolved? Bypass authorization or crack the bootloader lock
