Ok so the shell launcher is still part of the Engineering App on our phones... can anyone or has anyone figured out how to trigger it?
This is the ONLY root vulnerability that exists for any Tmobile 10Pro / 10T bought after August 2022. Getting access to this shell is critical because it will be a default root, or root permission shell. And because it is for an app in the System partition, it will have exclusive access to the main system partition which will allow the ability to modify tthe build.prop file, at least enough to set ro.adb.secure to 0, and ro.secure to 0.... Then make the same changes to persist.ro.secure to 0 and persist.ro.adb.secure to 0. These commands can be issued with the debug root shell, simply by using the "setprop" command, while running with the authority of the system apps permissions.

Also, ... anyone know what the code is here??? Its not 6776 .... there are several places in the engineering menu that are password or code protected, just like the old Oneplus app... only this time the passcodes needed are numerical.
The only code that i know of is 6776 , but that one does not work for all..
One screen in particular beyond this one is the screen for writing a test message to the "Important" log... (the last bug was related to the log as well... so there might be something here.
to get to this screen run the
*#899# , select Manual Test, and slide to the far right screen. Click on Log test.
the other one pictured below is from
*#36446337# , menu . Select Engineer Network, then hit 'Lock Cell info' ...
lastly i know EVERYONE has been looking for a REAL Full Network unlock.
This code is 16 digits, and is confirmed to FULLY remove the network control of ANY carrier on the 10Pro ... This will disable the carrier policy restriction that keeps T-Mobile owners from flashing different regions, and their device locking.
*#3988691# - Network unlock
This will disable ALL region restrictions on your phone. Please share any info you might have regarding any of these.
If someone can get me thru this network unlock code, I will happily drop detailed instructions on how to leverage Diagnostic mode to enable 5G ONLY mode.... as well as how to enable missing bands, fix your VOLTE.... and Wifi Calling.... pretty much anything you want to access regarding missing features including Dual Sim cards, (as long gas you have the connections on your board!.
Help me... so that i can help everyone!
interesting
@beatbreakee , did you get anywhere with this?
I'm trying to figure out how to remove Operator region, basically switch to generic country region (currently set to Vodafone in the UK).
Used to be able to do it by unlocking secrecy mode, then *#3954391# (which activated a switch of some kind) and then *#391#. This tool you to a menu where you could select your phone's region and carrier (this is on ColorOS).
Codes no longer work. Wondering if it's within the 'Lock Cell Info' section????
Have u pulled the app or unpacked the enginering app from OTA or msmdownload

Has to be a ton of us, Brighthouse customers, out there pissed off about this

Got it working...
File is attached below.
Uninstall original, if installed, then install this one.
Also make sure any reference to "test-keys" in build.prop are changed to "release-keys"
N3M3515
Because only certain tablet types have been authorized by Bright House, could changing the manufacturer in build.prop have any relevance..additionally, what does changing "test-keys" to "release keys"actually accomplish?
almost there...
thanks n3m35155 for the modified APK, works like a charm
for anyone else wondering.. you also have to be on a brighthouse networks connection to use this app.. so to be clear, you need a non rooted device (or the above apk from n3m35155) and must also be on a brighthouse network.. but here is the kicker, not just ANY brighthouse network you also have to have a TV subscription service on the brighthouse network that you are connecting from.
i am at my work right now, who has brighthouse internet (business class) but no TV subscription and trying to use their connection with my brighthouse services login credentials prompts me with an error saying you must use an authorized brighthouse networks connection blah blah blah.. so i decided i would connect to VPN (to my network, which is authorized) and the app tells you that you must first disable VPN before streaming any video.
so i guess my question is, n3m35155 or anyone else, is it possible to modify the apk (once more) to remove the check for VPN? i mean its not like im trying to gain access to stuff that i dont have.. for an app that toutes you can watch TV on the GO.. you sure can go very far before the many stupid restrictions take effect.
wrong file

Have you ever been in a situation where you needed to connect to a Wi-Fi network, but couldn’t remember the password? Or maybe there’s a network you’ve connected to with your jailbroken device, but now you need to access that network on your Mac or PC.
Well, the days of forgotten Wi-Fi passwords for computers may be a thing of the past. Wifi Password Manager is a new Google Playstore application that will list all saved Wi-Fi passwords that you’ve connected to from your rooted android device. Of course, in order for this app to be useful for the situation I mentioned, you must have previously connected to a specific network from your device in the past.
That being said, if you have built good list of remembered networks, and you need to connect to one of them from a computer, this little android application will definitely come in handy.
Once Wifi Password Manager is installed, instead of asking around for the Wi-Fi password, launch the app, tap on “Wi-Fi Password,” then select “Known Networks.” This option is made available via Wifi Password Manager and it will display a list of all known network names and their associated passwords.
Yes, my Wi-Fi password is “animalfarm.” Don’t judge me.
On top of that, you’ll be able to tap on a network in the list and copy the SSID or password. From there, you can sms or even whatsapp the information to someone or write it down and be on your way to connectivity back at your computer. It may not seem like much, but I can think of many situations where this little application would have saved the day.
The best part is, Wifi Password Manager is completely free. And for now ad-free! If this had been available in the past, I would have easily paid at least $0.99 to save me from a forgotten Wi-Fi password nightmare. Thankfully, it’s available now and you can install it via Google Playstore for free. There are no options to configure for this application.

I know it's been discussed before, but according to the N9600 variant getting root recently, the dev @Mentalmuso made up my mind with his WETA thread unsurprisingly the .apk I've been looking for was there but obviously it's unable to install for being a system thing which makes me wonder:
Since the system partition is untouchable without root (which is not in sight) and this apk has to be placed there to work, flashing it somehow is the only option I suppose.
Just for the clarification - I don't like the Next radio experience at all and I'll name the reasons from top to bottom:
1. No record button - this is the most critical for me. The Recforge workaround which I counted on no longer works here.
2. No RDS. There is a built in database that gathers up information on your current location and names the frequencies to the stations in this area. For people outside U.S.A this feature is useless.
3. No swipe for fast navigation across the dial. Inconvenient manual frequency typing forces me to empty the field then type in the desired value, must insert a "."dot for decimal separation.
4. Only odd numbers are displayed. It may as well pick up the even ones properly (since 2016 it should) but still display them as odds.
5. On screen advertisements - I wish to use a service that is already commercial, why do I need such obstacles in the way?
6. Load times - though quite minor flaw but Next radio has a splash screen for at least 2~3 seconds then it takes a few more seconds from the moment you push the operate button until you can hear a sound, compared to the stock operation which takes almost instantly. Also the seek buttons have a small delay in Next radio.
Again, only the miss of record is really bugging me to the point I consider a switch to N9600. If Recforge did it for me (or a sound recorder equivalent) I could live with the rest. Apart from this I'm completely fine unrooted.
Any idea of how to legit flash this .apk or a new way to record that doesn't involve aux and streaming?

Good afternoon XDA!!! I was getting 5g no problem and I received the notification for the C.46 update today. After updating 5g isn't even listed in the "Preferred network type" anymore. I'm on T-Mobile in the states model CPH2173, anyone else have this happen after the update?
Thanks!!!

If I go under "advanced settings" under mobile network all that shows up now is the "use mobile data during calls" option which isn't even able to turn on. No Smart 5g option
Try to reset your phone if same issue you need Full flash,

Did that and same thing, only gives max 4g/3g/2g option and no "Smart 5g" option anywhere.
So I'm wondering if T-Mobile is restricting phones from using 5g now like AT&T is
If you already flashed with ( CPH2173export_11_C.46_2022021122370096.zip ) Then should be fine,
& Yes its could happens, Such 12Pro does not show 5G due to unsupported 5G (SIM)

That's what I'm thinking is going on because it showed 5g on the .45 firmware and now it's gone so I'm guessing it is just stupid US Carrier restrictions for 5g .
Enter this code *#54794824#
Then enable 5G
How are you for finding those ussd codes? Any new ones?
Here's the one actually working on my 3X Pro:
*#6776# Info
*#899# Engineering mode
*#800# Logs
*#888# Hardware Revision
*#54794824# Toggle 5G on/off
When acessing the application list that can be put into deep sleep (Battery and device care menu) , at the bottom of the list there is an application which contains 2 chinese symbols followed by 1 (see pic below)

. The application isn't however listed in normal app list, even if I am selecting to be displayed also the system apps. What is about, please ?
Translates to "Starry 1"...Where did you buy your device? If it's from a Chinese seller it's possible it's been loaded with China specific firmware which I would expect to include various monitoring and reporting apps.
It was bought from the one of the official shops of Orange - mobile phone company. How can i get rid of it ?

there are apps on PS that help you obtain the full package name of installed apps. with the package name you can use ADB to disable it.
Tried with some suggested apps, but unfortunately this app is not listed at all. As specified in my first post this weird app is listed only when accessing the menu "Battery and Device Care -> Battery -> Background usage limits" where I can select the apps that can be put into (deep) sleep. But if am accessing the menu "Settings -> Apps" it is not listed even if I am selecting to be dislayed also the system apps. Very strange....
you could also flash unlocked firmware too the phone. using the home_csc file will keep your own apps and data intact.
or you could phone up Orange and ask to be put thru to their technical department. maybe you can email them a link to this thread. they might enjoy the mystery detective quest.
The application is not using any permissions whatsoever. So for now I put it in deep sleep hoping that it does nothing. Will keep searching the net for some more info about it
