hard reset device.
yeah, you won't need to reflash but you will lose data.
i already knew that!! it should be another way to do it!!! if someone could make a zip that would turn on wifi!!!
don't you think it would be a bit worrying if you could flash something that would disable that security measure?

The security measures would be completely useless if people could just flash a zip to bypass them. If someone stole your phone would you want that person to be able to open it up that easily? No? Then get smarter and stop doing such stupid stuff as you did.
I would seriously beat the **** out of the moron who did this.

You can recover your devices with adb but you must have enabled usb debugging already.First make sure you have installed adb and connect your phone and follow the instruction below.
Code:
adb -d shell
# sqlite3 data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
sqlite> update system set value=0 where name='lock_pattern_autolock';
sqlite> .exit
# exit
adb reboot

[Q] Few questions

Okay so, since I'm sort of new, I wanted to ask a few questions:
1. Is it possible to root xperia x8 with manufacturing date 11w48? At least at 95% chance. I'm a bit scared of the bricking part...
2. If it is possible, what kind of "ROM" (if I understood correctly) should I get?
3. If I get hard bricked/soft bricked what's the chance my phone will be still usable.
That's about it. Please don't rage at me for "OMG USE SEARCH BUTTON" type of thing.
I have tried doing it but no results found. Just threads and posts of people updating their.. ROMs I gues? Correct me if I typed anything wrong there.
But yeah, help would be appreciated. Thanks!

1. You can safely root your x8 regardless of when it is manufactured, you will not brick it
2. You have 11w48 so it is very risky to unlock your bootloader, i suggest you flash ROMS that is for stock
3. If you get soft bricked you can flash the stock firmware back using flashtool or SEUS, if it is a hard brick, you need to go to the nearest Service center or use a JTAG

Thanks a whole bunch. I thought I cannot root because of my manufacturer date. But what is a flash ROM tho?

you can root your phone. but you can't unlock bl.
when you root your phone, you cam install cwm recovery. simply dl a rom for stock kernel and go to recovery and install(flash) the rom. remember to check the instructions first.
Just because i don't doesn't mean i can't.
All what I found until today was that if I cannot unlock BL I cannot install CWM recovery.
Maybe it is related to model - mine is Sony Xperia J. Y2012.
There is no fastboot available.
Am I wrong, can I have CWM, nandroid backup etc on stock ROM as only such one I may flash ?

this is for x8. not sure how it works on J. but yeah we don't havt fastboot either. but we can install cwm even with a locked bl. again that's for se x8.
edit: my advice is go to your phone's subforum. you'll get your answers there.
Just because i don't doesn't mean i can't.
Thank you. I understand that lot of things is device dependent but thought there are non-breakable rules, like gravity,
and what is possible to do under certain circumstances was one of them.
Need walk through XDA forum once more, maybe there is a hope.

there probably are a few unbreakable rules, but not being familiar with your device i can't guarantee that it's safe or it would work.
Just because i don't doesn't mean i can't.
Despite lot of reading I still am missing knowledge.
Question is:
What is fastboot ?
I found more than one definition of it and compiled into my own.
1.
Of course fastboot.exe is Windows binary (part of flashtool pack) which does certain type of work.
This is not what we are interested in.
2.
I concluded that:
- fastboot is one of modes into what android device can wake up. Just like linux can boot in different ways or Windows into single mode.
- this feature is encoded into boot.img, it is not separate android application.
- boot.img will work only with related kernel.img. They are like love and marriage (which is like horse and carriage - Bundy's).
- Sony sometimes disables stock boot.img to boot into this mode then without replacing boot .img it is impossible.
More comments ?
Fastboot is protocol used to update the flash filesystem in Android devices from a host over USB. It allows flashing of unsigned partition images.
Just because i don't doesn't mean i can't.
Okay, I got one more last question. Is this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=906195&nocache=1 okay to use for rooting? I'm still trying to find the LATEST safe ones =/ I wonder if this one is okay.
Um, I tried that one it didn't work. It said some stuff are missing, then it exited randomly etc.. Can someone give me a link or a short/long guide which I can use that's latest? I do have some X8 drivers in a .zip file but no idea how to install them. Thanks in advance.

1. Install RAZRi drivers
2. Download ADB files (ADB is a comandline-tool, google how to use)
3. Connect your RAZRi to PC and check if ADB shows it as device.
4. Follow the Steps from the Link
Works maybe only on JB! (you can try it on ICS)

ok, than you have to extract the zip-Archiv (TwerkMyMoto-1.0.zip) in the ADB-Folder.
Sorry, i have missed that step...
The 3 files have to be together with the adb.exe in one folder!
good luck!
Never mind.
I used vroot to root both Razr I's without unlocking the Bootloader. Worked instantly. And then I used Dr. Fones software to search for the files, but it was gone beyond repair. So thanks for the input here, and thanks to Motorola or android whoever wasn't capable to install a recycle bin from the factory.

Most likely it isnt beyond repair. You never touched the boot or other partitions. Just flash the installed stock ROM by rsd lite. And all will be as good as new.
But why do u use vroot? Why not a working one from this device forum. And before u wine about a recycle bin left out, its not windows, linux or anything. Its your fault, read what it does. And if u don't know what u are doing, read how to repair things before even starting to use tools like this. But if I totally misunderstood you, I am sorry!

Are you friggin kidding me?
Instead of helping you are critizing me and start a personal attack by saying it's my fault!?
UNBELIEVABLE!
First off, I started a topic here weeks ago trying to get help to recover my file. Well, guess what, no help, no response!
Then I asked for help to root, cause NONE of the "working" solutions I found here worked for a locked bootloader RazrI !!!!
So now after I used Vroot, which worked instantly you come around!?
The file I tried to recover is gone. It was an audio file that meant a lot to me. Gone forever, and yes thanks for rubbing it in, yes my fault because i ACCIDENTALLY deleted it, by swiping over the file.
And yes, if a recycle bin would have been included from the factory everyone could have recovered that file in a heartbeat without making a doctor in computer systems, without rooting. Or any other modifications.
Thanks for your post, as it goes to show how bad some people are.
Sorry to hear the complete story.
But your post was only about "TwerkMyMoto". Nothing more!

Root and flash Custom Rom without PC

Hi,
I have an unbranded and unlocked nexus 6. I wanted to root and install twrp so I can begin flashing custom roms... Only problem is, I don't have a pc at home to ADB flash twrp, etc.... Is there any method to flash custom rom without having a machine at home? I have absolutely no need for a pc at home, until this precise moment when I get a new phone and I want to start flashing, lol. Im gonna assuming the answer is NO, im thinking there may be some OTG method with files from a thumb drive, but I'll wait to hear from the experts. Thanks in advance.
I have been wondering that very question myself. I really doubt it's possible, but since I have had my N6 and LG G Pad, I don't ever use my antique Pentium 4 Dell PC hardly at all.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
It's totally possible but highly recommended against. There is an app to root, which then you use flashify to flash recovery but if you ever have a problem, you won't be able to fix it because you need a PC to get a rom back on your phone if you accidentally wipe the os or do some other mischief that prevents you booting, you wont be able.to unlock your bootloader which means you won't be able.to.flash stock or return for warranty purposes either, so as.much as you want to do this, it would really put you in an awful position and you'd be screwed if something goes wrong, which the chances are, it will.

I have no issues with the first potential problem you mentioned (having to get a rom back on phone using a pc) because I have a backup phone, plus if it gets to that stage, I can use a friends computer if I really need to. But the last comment you made about the chances of an error occurring and saying that it most likely will and i'll be unable to get it back to stock scares me. Is this method really that unreliable? I will read up on it more, and search through the forums.
If you can provide details of the app to root, that would be great. Also, how reliable is the app to root alone by itself? Minus the flashify portion...

It's not the method that's unreliable the app "kingroot" (I believe it is called) works fine. The issues occur with everything and anything else root users do. Flashing a rom, a mod, wiping the os via recovery etc.
Then if anything hardware goes wrong, returning the device for repair under warranty will likely be rejected if its not stock.

I'm not going to commit to an answer there
One thing I will say though, you'll never be able to update with an OTA, so if you're going to root, have a custom recovery,. Allow.oem unlock and have an unlocked bootloader.
Best bet is to do the proper.routing and unlocking using your friends of as a one off. You can then safely.maintain the phone without a pc and use the pc in am emergency. Not unlocking the bootloader from the beginning is.asking.for.trouble

k, I already used the kingroot method and verified using root checker. Installed adaway and everything seems to work perfectly (so far anyway). Uninstalling Kingroot unroots the phone from my quick series of test that I've run so OTA updates doesn't seem like it'll be a problem.
I agree though, if I really want to do any rom flashing, ill just unlock, root, and flash using "proper methods".
Appreciate all your help man.

Uninstalling Kingroot removes root but does not uninstall all modified files. Will show as modified and thus no OTA updates. Another thread on same thing here somewhere. Have to flash system back to stock with PC for any updates.
---------- Post added at 11:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:01 AM ----------
It's also not safe to update without bootloader unlocked anyway. Too many reported bootloops with OTA.

Exactly this. All root methods edit.existing files but do not restore them after unroot. So the system is modified. We're.100% certain there will be no OTA.
Unlock the bootloader and do it properly.

Question Device asking for password after restart.

So all of a sudden the s21 is asking for password after restart. I use the same password or 4 variations of it for these accounts. However I cannot login. I can goto web or new device and log in to my Google and Samsung accounts. But the device does t want to allow this.
I’ve seen options to flash firmware back one, I’ve done this in past. And can walk through most options. I tried ADB. But it is not enabled. And that’s become a major issue. If I could do any kind of backup, retrieval of the photos and contacts. That’s all I care about. The rest is not a big deal.
Anyone have any kind of insight? Direction? Thoughts? I can see the device in find my, but there aren’t any options to unlock. Just send message and erase.
I am willing to try almost anything, and if there’s a paid service I will try that. I’ve never seen this screen before, and have never had this issue. It does not make sense.
I purchased a new device and setup with passwords no problem. But there isn’t a backup on Google of the phone there. I tried wiping tge cache and that didn’t help either. I attached a photo of what the screen looks like.
Fwiw. I have photos of wedding and brother that just passed. i don’t want to lose those. I am desperate for any answer. Someone with tech support said I could send device to LV and they can do it. Takes two weeks and phone might not be useable afterwards.
Have you tried using Odin to flash the latest firmware?

It is 0rigins that make it first
And we didn't solved this problem
This happened to a friend of mine and i was able to "solved" it because he had a custom recovery TWRP.
I copied his files to a PC, while the phone was in recovery mode, then do a factory reset.
Later i found out that was an easier way to unlock the phone:
Remove /Bypass Lockscreen With Recovery
Recently when i restored my data using TWRP i faced a problem at lock screen. I was not able to unlock my phone with the pin i set Earlier..So after so many attempts i was able to find a solution for that problem.(works with pattern, pin etc)...
forum.xda-developers.com
But all this requires a TWRP recovery. If you don´t have that, i guess that the password you need is the one that you have set on the device, while configuring fingerprints.
If you have "find my phone" enable, you should be able to reset that password using a browser on a PC...
Have you found out any other solution?
