Hello,
I have a couple questions and was wondering if someone on here knows.
This is my first Pixel phone, I'm coming from OnePlus and I did things differently on there, because it had TWRP and stuff. My questions are:
1. How do you go about rooting a custom ROM?
2. If I already have verity and verification disabled on stock ROM, would I need to disable it again when flashing a custom ROM, or would it still be disabled from when I was on stock?
If someone is able to answer those questions I would appreciate it.

Hi everyone:
Im a new user of note 5, an old user of note 4 and i really miss xposed module.
I search in the forum to install it, and instead there are a lot information, im stuck in some steps
My Note5 is rooted with odin, without replaced kernel ,i have the stock one. I used the Dr.Ketan method.
Now, when i go to recovery mode (i have stock one) in the lower side appears the message dm-verity verification failed
but the phones works fines. i dont know if that matters or not to the nexts steps.
I read that to install xposed i must have cwm or twrp. I need special care installing any of thats recovery given the dm-verity thing?
I know that the questions are really basics, but i dont want make a mess.
Any help please??
Regards and thanks!
Mhhhh, any help for me please?
Thanks
I just got this phone today. One plus 3T A3000 model. Out of the box brand new it comes with OS 4.0.3 (Nougat 7.0).
How do I go about getting this bad boy rooted on supersu, custom recovery, unencrypted, and closed all on the most recent update 4.5.0? (Don't want 4.5.1)
Please walk me through each step and I'll appreciate any links!! I've done some research here before buying the phone but I'm not sure where to begin. I have everything pretty much I need to flash and install ( adb fastboot, patched boot images, firmwares, supersu, xposed SDK 25, tarp download, etc). I just need the proper steps so that I don't mess up.
Here you go...

There are dozen of topics about each question.
How it's possible that you made your research and you are asking about the most basic stuff?
Why don't you start with what you know and ask questions about anything that is not easy to find?

You're right, I just wanted extra reassurance. So in the thread the other guy linked above, it says you can flash SuperSU or do the DM verity patch before that. it says you don't have to do both, so does that mean I can bypass DM verity by just flashing SuperSU or do I need to do the other thing first to guarantee unencryption?
I also want to know if i should just OTA 4.5 right now then do the whole process or would that mess something up, currently on 4.0.3?

It shouldn't make a difference. Also, you can also consider Magisk instead of supersu but that's your decision to make.

I agree it won't make much difference with unlocking bootloader, TWRP, root, etc. whether you update first, or mod first.
Are you talking about doing the OTA from the phone settings? If I'm not mistaken, that will cause a series of multiple updates to get you to 4.5. If that is in fact the case, I'd suggest just downloading and installing the full 4.5.0 zip, which will update it all at once (file and instructions on the following thread): https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/rom-oxygenos-3-5-4-mm-ota-update-t3519074
Whether you do partial OTA or the full update zip, it will update the firmware. So need to worry about that separately.
This phone is very hard to brick. So you can feel confidant on that note, as far as relatively routine things like updating and TWRP, root.

Just follow this guide.

It shouldn't be so difficult to flash a custom recovery and root.

Hi
I will have my N960F/DS in a couple of weeks. I prefer not to root it for at least a couple of months in case of any warranty issues. However, by then it should have upgraded to Pie. Does anyone know whether the current root methods will work under Pie? Do they work under the current beta?
If your phone has an unlocked bootloader, pie won't change that. You're probably thinking about the exploit days that new updates patched.
So yes, it will be rooted as soon as the devs build twrp.
Great! Thanks!
Similar problem
I have a brand new N960FD and im have the "only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed" because i installed twrp and tried to do so with no-verity-encrypt and RMM state bypass. but now im stuck and i don't know what to do to root my new phone... (with magisk, which didn't work as well....)
I just want pie with root and no trouble.
Anyone can help me ?

read carefully Dr.ketans post in the general discussion. its pinned.
nothing anyone can do for you that you can't do by yourself by reading. i would also suggest you to read throught Docs whole pinned thread(user comments) and then do the same thing with the twrp thread in the dev section.
all issues and questions have come up sooner or later. you just need to want to take time and read.
down the line, you'll have also more questions and these answers would probably answer themselves after those 2 reads.( might be a lengthy read but sure beats having a phone that is not operating like you want it to)
Samsung account problem
I have the same model, n960fd, rooted with magisk tests checked, everything is fine, but when i want to connect to a samsung account, it loops and ask me again for the password, non stop.
Is there any known solution ?
Please help
So guys hi, I'm new here: D
My mi A2 are rooted and with camera2 ennabled, but i want unrooted it and put the stock rom. Is Possible I keep getting ota updates even with the camera2 ennabled? If yes please Leave the last stock rom version to I try install.
More two questions, Is it possible to lock the bootloader again and is this good?
I appreciate everyone's understanding
(Forgive me if my English is too bad)
(1)There are at least 2 useful Guides in the "Guides, News, &Discussions" forum: smth like "How to get permanent root with OTA support" and "How to activate Cam2API with temporary root". Why should anybody here type in one more Guide as answer to your questions? Please read available Guides.
(2) Yes, it is possible to lock phone at any time, but if its is tampered (any change to ROM was made), phone will bootloop.
More than that, if you'd read these forums, you'd learn that even users of full stock from time to time get bootloop after an OTA (although this is not so tragic, because stock phone sooner or later - after 7 to 50+ reboot attempts - must boot to the system which was active before buggy OTA).
When locking, phone is factory reset (same as when unlocking) thus you will loose Cam2API and possibly face FRB problem.
(3)So, No, IMHO locking it is not good.
On my Pixel 2 and 3 and my OP7T, all of them were bricked by doing extremely basic flashing. Flash TWRP? Brick. Try to revert to stock? Brick. Install EdExposed on a perfectly functioning rooted 7T with no other mods? Brick.
My Pixel 4 XL arrives saturday, and for once I'm buying used so I can't afford to brick this. So I just have a few questions:
1. Specifically in the context of the new A/B partition setup, can I expect any complications simply flashing the magisk patched stock boot.img via bootloader without doing any other precautions?
2. How will this affect things when I want to revert to stock? What is the process for reverting to stock?
3. How will this affect things when I need to update to do a system update? What is that process?
4. Is there anything else I should know? I want to be extremely cautious this time! My main interests will be A) to get Adaway, and possibly one or two Xposed modules (e.g. gravityboxy), and B) to be able to get back to stock when I eventually sell the phone but to maintain a modded setup safely through the regular Android updates that come to Pixels from Google.
Please don't take this as me asking for you to hold my hand—although any direct guides are more than welcome and, as this is a community, other people will benefit as well. Rather, this is my first step in the process of doing my research before my phone arrives. Please give as much direct step by step instruction as you want, and/or link any other guides that address those questions. In the meantime my next step will be to try and find answers to these question in existing threads, but you guys should understand there is a lot of conflicting info out there and a lot of people are hostile to questions.
Thank you guys!

1/ flash the patched boot image, your good to go.
2/ download the factory image from Google website and use flash-all.bat (remove -w to avoid erasing all the data).
3/ I believe there is a method to update ota without losing root by using magisk manager.
4/ yub easy.

To root just extract the boot.img and patch with Magisk beforehand. This is the only extra step. I pre-stage this patched img file in my ADB folder so right after flashing completes, catch the reboot and return to fastboot mode and flash the patched image. That is all there is. To revert to stock, simply flash the untouched stock boot.img. You don't need to do this each month because when you flash the full image file it overwrites the patched boot.img, so you just start again. Get rid of TWRP for now because it does not support 10.
